LG Cosmos + Switching Phones?

This phone is absolute garbage. I take really good care of my electronic devices and this phone hardly lasted half a year before it started to stop working. The first signs were keyboard typing extra/different letters whenever using the pull out keyboard; this wasn't too bad, but it got annoying. Just recently, within 3 months, the phone started turning off randomly. Then, it transformed into a problem where the display will just go blue. I was able to make this less frequent by keeping my phone charged at all times, but even with different batteries, the phone still doesn't work. It isn't water damaged or beat up, it's just a bad phone.
Now, I don't want to come off as a hater just because I didn't receive a quality product; I hear from people all over the place that their LG phones (Cosmos + Cosmos Touch in particular) are breaking/not working. Anyway, I digress. I just want to find out if anyone is able to help me with this problem with my LG Cosmos?
And if not, is it possible to switch my phone number + plan to another phone that I own without paying any extra money? I own a Motorla Razr from a while back that was a much trustier phone and I'm willing to use that for the three months left before my upgrade is discounted.
Any replies/help is sincerely appreciated.

LoganChamp23,
I understand that having a reliable phone is extremely important. It sounds like your issues are hardware issues and I am not showing these as known issues with the device. There are no settings to cause either of these issues. Basic troubleshooting you can try is to pull the battery for about 15-30 seconds. If you are still having issues, I would suggest having the device replaced thru warranty. You can either send me a PM (private message) with your name & number or call into customer service at 800-922-0204.
If you choose to activate you Razr again, you would need to turn off your Cosmos, then dial *228 send (option 1) from your Razr. You can also login to you My Verizon account. Choose Activate or Switch Device under I Want to...and follow the prompts.

The CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM at all. There is no SIM slot. It is a pure CDMA phone.

  • Switching phones and activation fees

    Hi everyone,
I bought a new phone off e_bay (LG voyager vx10000) to replace my current phone. I realize I can switch and activate the new phone from the Verizon website but my question is.....when I activate my new phone will I still be able to use my old phone as a back-up? Also will I be charged an activation fee? I do not want to upgrade to smartphone or renew my contract. I am currently in a month-to-month contract and I would like to keep it that way.
I have done this process before but I never wanted to keep my old phone because it was always broke.Another thing I remember from when I done this in the past is Verizon asks you why you are switching your phone. Why do they ask this? Is it just like a poll type thing so they know why most people are switching phones? or is it to tell whether they need to charge you an activation fee? Does answering that poll (or whatever you want to call it) gonna affect whether I get charged an activation fee or if my old phone gets a bad esn or something like that? Also my reason for getting a new phone is because my old one is very out dated and want something a little more modern but no required data plan. My old phone still works good which is why I want to keep it as a back-up.
Hopefully you were able to follow along...I don't really want to call or go to the store I would rather activate online and soon.
I bolded the questions so it is easier to refer back to and find =)

There is no activation fee for activating a different phone on an existing line.  You only pay an activation fee when you start a new line of service.
As to the survey, I've never been prompted to answer any questions like that when switching phones.  The only reason you would not be able to use your old phone as a backup is if you report it to Verizon as lost or stolen, or fall behind on your payments while that phone is on your account.  If the phone is listed as lost, stolen, or tied to an unpaid account, it is placed on a blacklist and cannot be activated on any Verizon account.
You can either use the online tool, or just turn off your old phone and then dial *228 and choose option 1 from the new phone.

  • Switch phone numbers between 2 different sized SIM Cards?

I have an HTC One and my dad has an iPhone 5. I want to switch phones with him but the iPhone 5 has a nano sim and the HTC One has a micro sim. Is their a way i can just switch phone numbers on the sim card? for example I have my phone number on my can I transfer it to my dads? and vise versa.

Contact your carrier to have them give you appropriate sized sim cards with the correwct numbers and services.
Alternatively, you can cut the larger sim card down to the correct size, and place the smaller sim card in an adapter to make it larger.
    Sim Card Adapters
But contacting your carrier would be the better option.

  • I switched phones with my wife.  I went into "Settings" and "Store" to change the applid to mine but the phone still has my wife's applid when updating apps.  How do I get my phone to default to my applid?

I SWITCHED PHONES WITH MY WIFE.   I WENT INTO SETTINGS AND STORE TO CHANGE THE APPLID BUT IT STILL USES MY WIFE'S APPLID WHEN UPDATING APPS.   HOW DO I GET THE APP STORE TO DEFAULT TO MY APPLID?

Any apps that are on the iPhone which were bought / downloaded via your wife's account are tied to her account - so only her account can download updates to those apps. If you remove all her apps and just put yours on then you should be ok.

  • Can I switch phone numbers between two iPhones?

I have ordered a 3GS, replacing my wife's 2G model. She will now get my 3G model. Do we have to change phone numbers or is there a way to move my 3G number with the 3GS and vice versa. It would be much better if that was possible.

I also wish to switch phone numbers between phones. I just got off the phone with AT&T customer support. You can handle this over the phone. Need to have the two phones in hand at the time. I got through to customer support today with less than one minute on hold. I was quite surprised. AT&T must have really staffed up for the release.

    Hey Gilly21!
I have an article for you that deals with backups and will hopefully help you understand iOS backups better:

  • I want to switch phones on my plan without switching my plan

I want to switch phones on my plan without switching my plan itself

Much will depend on the phone you have NOW and the phone you want to switch to "without changing your plan" - if you are wanting to switch to a smartphone from a basic or multi-media phone (a classification no longer available) you will need to add a tiered data plan.

  • Switching Phones.. And Apps..

Lets say my phone was damaged and I had another Verizon phone that I could use temporarily. Could I activate it online , use it, and would it change my  2 free every date or would stay the same? Also would I have to eventually switch back to my original phone or could I use the replacement phone for the length of the contract..What are the exact rules that govern this type of behavior? I have been a Virgin Mobile customer for as long as I have been with Verizon 6+ years and I like the ability to switch phones when  I WANT to without penalty as long as  am willing to incur the cost of the phone....
Also..any hopes of ever getting any more apps (besides Droid/blackberry)...especially of the free variety on verizon..I have the same apps on my current Virgin Phone and you would think that Verizon would be a step above, and I really dont need a smartphone.

  • Switching phones and not getting email connectivity

    Hi there,
Never knew switching blackberry could be so involved.
I had an old 8310, with all my email accounts on etc, as pay as you go with O2.
I upgraded to a newer secondhand blackberry (yes we can't all afford new ones), a 8900 which was my sns and had been on orange.
The new phone was unlocked professionally, and I did a hard wipe afterwards, master reset (or thought I had).
The phone is regsered with blackberry - confirmed
The phone is regostered with O2 confirmed.
The new phone has recognised all the email accounts and I have entered the passwords to enable.
However I still can't get access to email (all the usualphone functions are fine).  I have reset by removing battery twice, no joy.
Am I missing somethig, or is there a delay in the accounts registering??? if so how long
    Thanks Mark

I have iPhone 4s, wife has iphone 4. She works, I am retired. She needs Siri. How can we switch phones and get all data, contacts, calendars, etc to switch correctly?

First make sure both iPhones are using the lastest iOS 5.1.1. Secondly make sure all of your data is backed up in separate iCloud accounts one for each user. Make sure that you are all of the options in iCloud are on. Then you have to switch the sim cards.

This page will take you though the steps of backing up data and then restoring the data on both iPhones. Make sure to read everything before you start the process it is fairly straight forward.

You can use iTunes to restore or the iCloud option. I find that iCloud is much easier to setup but it requires wifi.

I'd say you have a better chance of not loosing anything if you connect to your home computer-- but it's not certain. Yeah, I'd imagine it's very frustrating. I'm surprised Apple allows these huge updates outside of iTunes.

  • Backup Files / Switching Phones

Hey folks. BBerry Curve 8530 here. I have to switch phones today due to a malfunction in my Curve's charging system. I am using the micro memory card in my old phone when I do.
My question : If I choose to use the backup on desktop wizzard, will that use the settings that I have in my old phone??? For example : sound settings... Also does that backup put your apps which I had in my old phone into the new one???
The reason I ask is because when I got this device, not paying close attention, I believe I accidently typed some type of tech. Shortcut to sound settings (the weird looking sound setting popup was the clue). I'm not sure but I think that is what happened because my headset sound has not been that good ever since this happened...
    Thanks for all your help..

    Hi huntmarv,
Using the backup and restore tool in the Desktop Software will backup your settings from the old device and restore them to the new one. If you want to transfer applications and your data, try using the Switch Device Wizard. http://bit.ly/frOl2s
