  • Can You Please Help Me with My Prepaid Verizon Extravert Phone

    I have a Verizon prepaid Extravert phone.  The phone has a opera mini browser built into it.  I can read and respond to emails from Gmail through the phone.  It is just awkward to use the phone to check and respond to email.  My employer is cutting off access to personal email at the office and that is one of the reasons I purchased this Extravert phone and the prepaid plan with email access. 
    I would like to know if I can connect my phone to my laptop and use the Verizon connection and the opera mini browser to read and respond to personal emails while at the office.  I basically just want to use the computer because it is easier to read and type with it.
    If this is possible, can you explain how I can do it.
    Also, on my personal laptop, the Extravert will be recognized for about a minute when I have it connected with a USB cable.  And then the cell phone disapears from my view within My Computer.  Can you explain how I can get this phone recognized by laptop.  Thanks.

        Hi nico08,  We want you to be able to get the most out of your phones email capabilities!  While the LG Extravert does not have the capability to tether the data connection to a laptop.  Our Mobile Email application can be a very beneficial feature for you!  Check out your options right through the Messaging section of your device.  If you are currently paying for a data package the app may be included. If not, you can even use Mobile Email ten times without paying the subscription fee but data charges will apply.  Please let me know if you have any additional question.

  • Trouble deleting text messages from Extravert 2

    My daughter and I both recently got the LG Extravert 2 and have both had the same problem. I was the first to have the problem with not being able to delete messages, but I was able to solve it after turning my phone off and removing the battery for 30 secs. But I can't seem to get my daughters phone to do the same. I've made sure the messages aren't locked (I've even locked them and then unlocked them), I've checked all the settings, I've tried to delete all messages in the inbox, all messages from an individual, and deleting each message one at a time; none of which have actually worked. It always tells me that it has worked, but then it returns to the inbox and all the same messages are there. I don't get any kind of error message, or anything saying it can't complete the action. It's getting really frustrating because this phone doesn't seem to have that much of a memory for storing text messages, and once it's full, wont accept any new messages. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

    That's about when I started having the same problem with mine. I actually just had to get a new one sent to me because the first one completely froze up on me and wouldn't turn back on. So far, no problem with the new one, but I haven't tried to delete anything. While on the phone with the tech person for that problem, I asked about the software update that Z1234 referred to, but she knew nothing about it. She recommended that I call LG directly and ask about it. I haven't done that yet, but will try this week.
    I did manage to figure out a slight loophole. If you go to the main screen (press the lock button, slide or drag lock screen.. now you're at the main screen. Sorry, I have no idea about technical terms here! lol ) then slide to the right, it should come up with all your texts listed in order of when they were sent/received. Then open each one individually and then erase. Such a pain it the butt, but I was able to delete most of them. Had a lot of them still stuck though.
    Anyway, glad to know that it's not just us, but sorry you're having the same problem. I know how frustrating it is! If I find out something new on the update, I'll try to post. We're leaving for a week long camping trip on saturday, so I'm pretty busy this week! But I know my daughter is going to be itching to get her hands on her phone again (just dropped her at camp today and phones aren't allowed!) so I'd like to get it figured out before we pick her up!

  • LG Extravert- Touchscreen not working

    My touchscreen is not working at all. No matter where I touch on the screen, it always brings up my contacts list, so it's not like I can even recalibrate it. Anyone else experienced this and know what to do?

        Wow catycatsny! I want you to have a working phone. Are you still having trouble with the touch screen? Calibrating the screen http://bit.ly/WnJyWS is definitely one of the best things to try when the screen seems to have trouble recognizing where you're touching. Sometimes, removing and reinserting the battery http://bit.ly/VWhsEG may clear up the issue, or at least provide temporary relief until you can get through the calibration. Was the phone exposed to any liquid? Any physical damage? How long ago did you purchase the Extravert? Please share if you're still having trouble.

  • LG Extravert, my experience, not so good

    I'd like to share my experience with the LG Extravert with anyone considering adopting this Ver 1.0 hardware. Bottom line, don't.
    First issue: VZ Navigator suddenly only half works.. The VZ Navigator just up and stopped getting GPS data while navigating to a destination. It could find my current location, find destinations and calculate routes to them. But once it started to navigate to the destination, the goofy graphic shows a red box with "NO GPS" in the box and the graphic would never update as I drove toward the destination. I discovered the issue when I drove past the exit and had to drive around blind while fighting with my navigator trying to understand why it didn't tell me to take the exit. The device functioned properly at the local company Verizon store, but the sales/tech guy told me that they had the strongest repeater literally right over my head. Why that should matter is beyond my understanding of this hardware. The store was out of phones so they had to ship one to my house 4 days later (of course this was a Fri. night). The new one seems to be working ok, but for how long? No one could even hint at why it stopped working.
    Second issue: I too experience the phone reducing images to 160X120 before sending them off. Funny thing is, that file was still 270K or so, which is the size of the 1600X1200 file as well (as someone else also pointed out). So this isn't saving bandwidth or anything like that, just stupidity. This is simply sloppy work on LG's part and should be fixed by software. But we all know it probably won't or it will take months or years.
    Third issue: Custom message tones. If you look at your contacts, you'll see that each contact can not only have a custom ringtone, but also a custom message tone (msgtone). However, when I set a custom tone and save, the phone somehow reports back that the ringtone and msgtone are now the same. But, when the contact sends a msg, I get the default tone. Not the custom tone I tried to set or the custom ringtone (as reported in the contact details). This feels to me like a half-baked, partially implemented "feature" that got lost somewhere in alpha testing by offshore resources. Another irritation brought about by adopting Version 1.0 of a device.
    Fourth Issue:  USB charging cable. I'm happy to see that mobile devices are finally settling in on a std. charging port, the mini USB. HOWEVER, this device HATES to be charged by any other than it's own cable. The WHOLE POINT of having all my devices use the same type of cable is so that I can carry one cable in my briefcase, keep one cable in the kitchen, put one of the nightstand next to the bed and be able to charge any of my devices from any location. Not this one though, complaint after complaint when it's not on its very own, proprietary cable. To the point where it will report that it's charging, but when you unplug, dead battery. What's so complicated about accepting 5V DC down a pin? There's only 4 freaking connections for USB and I'm thinking that those four are all doing to same thing no matter what you plug into (laptop, wall block, desktop) because there's a standard for this type of thing. Sigh, just another "why are you doing this to me" frustration with gear pushed into the market before it's ready.
    Bottom line, this piece of crap is going back to Verizon and I just might be forced into a smartphone because I really need a QWERTY keyboard to be effective at communicating with these things and the only alternative I really see is the Stratosphere (?), which is also an LG product. So, if I switch off to that device, look for another rant from me, as I'm sure to dig up all the irritations and bugs with that one too.

    1) GPS in cell phones is very picky, its not just THIS phone. Many of them, especially in low power devices like this have a hard time maintaining the GPS signal inside certain vehicles where the roof interferes with many of the satellite signals, indoors, or in a downtown with a lot of taller buildings blocking GPS satellites. This phone does not have the power to "predict" where you are and update accordingly. This is not the fault of this phone.
    2) Again, this is a low power phone AND as typical for most images sent via texts, images are reduced to reduce network load on Verizons network. The ONLY way to get around this is to get a smartphone AND one that can send the picture to the social network, photo album or whatever via 3G/4G. Even with an Android for example, send a pic via text and it is still reduced. Send the pic via 3G/4G and it usually stays full size.
    3) call/message tones: Check with Verizon and LG for a software or firmware update, older phones have this issue, my newer one (VN271) does not.
    4) Charging: I have this exact same issue. I have to charge it either connected directly to a PC, or use the supplied AC/DC charger. I have a USB hub (with power connected) that I use for multiple devices (my phone, bluetooth earpiece, wifes phone, mp3 players, etc) and I can be at 1/2 battery, charge it all night on that USB hub and the battery is dead despite "charging" 6-8 hours, even with the original cable that came with the Extravert. Even if I use a different AC/DC charge liek what came with other Verizon phones, same thing happens as if the pins are reversed or something else causes a drain instead of charge. THIS one really needs to be fixed.

  • LG Extravert - Verizon Mobile Email - Google Calendar - All Day Events showing on wrong day

    I have an LG Extravert.  I installed and setup the Verizon Mobile Email application.  I added my gmail account.  I successfully pulls in my gmail calendar - BUT any of the events that as "All Day" events in google end up displaying on the wrong day on the LG Extravert.  If I drill into the event on the phone - it displays start and end times for the event.  Why does it do anything with time for an all day event?  and if it does (for some reason) still use times - why are the times off?  The timezone setup on my phone and google accounts all match.
    Please Advise...

    I am using the features of the Mobile Email application... I couldn't find a way with the Extravert to integrate directly with the calendar application. 
    If a create an all day event on the phone... it looks ok in google... but when the phone alerts me of the event... it says the Start Time is 1:00 AM.  It seems like the Mobile Email Applications calendaring is not able to correctly handle All Day events.

  • Having issues with LG Extravert 2 camara in Negative mode

    When I turned on the camera for the first time on my 3 day old phone, the screen shows up in negative mode.
    I went to the settings page and it is correctly set to NORMAL.
    When I switch the settings to NEGATIVE then the screen looks correct.
    Looks like the settings are reversed.
    I checked and I have the latest version of the software.
    Do I have a bum phone? or is there a software update missing?
    or Should this phone just be returned?

    Power down the phone and remove the battery for about 5 minutes. Next replace the battery and do a normal reboot of the phone. Then try the camera app again but first check all camera settings and make sure your in a  normal color mode. If you are still having a problem I would return the phone for a "NEW" phone and not a CPO used phone. I have not seen any updates for this being listed. Keep posting with the results.

    Sorry to see you've had trouble editing your photos! Each phone has there own unique features. The original Extravert had photo edit features including drawing and changing contrast, sharpness, blur and brightness. The Extravert 2 does not have those same features. You can still change things such as camera options for white balance and resolution but do not have those same photo editing options available.
    You can transfer pictures to a desktop computer and then use photo editing software on your computer for more advanced photo editing. Here are instruction on how to tranfer the pictures: http://vz.to/1z1nB6H . Just scroll down to where it says, From the Device to the Computer.

  • HELP! My Extravert Bluetooth won't stay paired.

    My Extravert paired easily with my car (Lexus IS350) and performed nicely for a week or 10 days, then suddenly balked. Now I get in my car and the screen says "Bluetooth connection unsuccessful." I've deleted the pairing from both devices and started over from scratch but now it won't pair at all.
    The LG Forum (lgforum.com) shows the same complaint from all sorts of Lexus drivers (I haven't checked for other auto brands). None of us had any problems whatsoever with previous phones connecting to our Bluetooth. There seems to be a bug in the Extravert software that causes it to choke.
    I need my phone to work with my car. This has already caused one scrape and a near-accident close call.
    Two questions:
    1. Can Verizon exert any pressure to make LG fix this in a timely manner?
    2. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to jimmy it in the meantime?
    I'd really appreciate some advice, other than the obvious "get rid of the phone."  Thanks.

    I definitely understand how important the bluetooth feature is.  Since you have done the first step of deleting the pairing and repairing my next suggestion would be to complete a factory reset to the device.  This will erase everything on the device so please back up prior.  You can complete this reset by following the visuals here .  After the reset please reprogram the device by dialing *228 send option 1.  Once you pair the device please observe and share your results.  If additional assistance is needed we can certainly move forward from there.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you.

  • LG Extravert QWERTY Keyboard stopped working.

    I got an LG Extravert for Christmas so it is less than 6 months old and the qwerty keyboard just stopped working.  It was fine one day and keys stopped reacting the next.  I've tried turning off the phone and restarting, no luck.  I take very good care of my cell phone and it has never been dropped so I have no idea what happened.    Any suggestions on how this can be fixed?   Thank you in advance.

        Ryath, let's see if we can change your luck. Have you tried soft resetting your device by removing the battery? Your next step would be to save your contacts at Backup Assistant and hard reset it in Settings. If the hard reset doesn't work then we can provide you with a warranty replacement device as long as there's no physical or liquid damage.
    For your convenience, I've provided the steps on how to hard reset your device below:
    From the main screen, select Menu.
    Select Settings.
    Select Phone Settings.
    Select Security.
    Enter the Security Code (default is the last 4 digits of the phone number).
    Select Restore Phone.
    Select OK.

  • Lg extravert messages

    I am having issues with my extravert. For some reason even when my text messages isnt even 100% full or close to it..it deletes messages that i havent seen yet. how do i fix this? it has happened quite some time now and i would just go trade a phone again..i just got this replacement at the beginning of the year but i dont want to cuz i can upgrade in 3 months...so theres really no point. please help

    First, let's ensure the text message is not "Locked".  See page 77 of the Device Manual for steps for locking and unlocking messages: http://vz.to/1hAjp6D.  I would also suggest changing your Messaging Setting option to "Auto Erase Inbox" which will automatically delete read messages when you exceed the message inbox storage limit.  See instructions for this step in the Device Manual on page 82: http://vz.to/1hAjp6D.  Please let me know how this works out for you.  Thanks!

  • LG Extravert games or apps?

    I've recently purchased an LG Extravert (prepaid), and have had zero luck running any apps/games that I have bought from the phone.   Every single item either freezes or errors with a "No Memory" error.  I *do* have the latest firmware on the phone (version VN271ZV4).  I took the phone into a Verizon wireless store and the people there had zero information.
    It blows my mind that items that I purchase on the phone don't work.
    Has anyone out there successfully bought and used apps or games on their LG Extravert?
    I'm curious what works and how you can even tell if it will work before buying it?

    don't waste your time.  worst phone I've ever purcuahsed.  what a joke.  verizon says not responsible but lock you into two-year contract.  gonna drive over mine.

  • LG Extravert Internet not working?

    I went to the verizon store today (2/17/12) and purchased the LG Extravert. My problem is that if I click on "Mobile Web" or on "My Verizon", a dialog pops up that says "No Application".
    I bought this phone specifically for the basic internet capability, and so far have been disappointed
    Is there a way that I can turn on or off these features, or is it something that I need to talk to a verizon employee.

  • LG Extravert upgrade status is "user rejected"

    I checked My LG Extravert software upgarde status under Menu > Settings > Phone Info > Software Updates > Status I see:

    Date: Apr 7, 2012
    Time: 3:34pm
    When I do Menu > Settings > Phone Info > Software Updates > Check New it searches ("Connecting") and then just goes to the home screen.
    According to http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/lg_extravert_instructions.pdf it shoudl give me teh options to do an OTA User Initiated update.
    What does the stutus "User Rejected" mean and why can't I update?
    I have removed battery and replaced as well as done a Master Reset but still same result when I try to do an OTA User Initiated update.

    In the end the reason for the device not being found via USB was it was not set for Modem Mode.
    I discovered this advice this out this afternoon from a posting in a mobile phone forum; however I appreciate that you were able to find this out and let me know.
    Once I did that the update worked.
    The LG VN271 manual, the Verizon website, the LG website, and several phone calls to Verizon and LG customer support did not produce this piece of information!
    I am still very curious about why the OTA update did not work.
    I have attached a page from the LG Extravert manual that explains OTA software updates.
