LG Vertex screen lock broken

My phone worked fine until the forced software update a month or so ago.
Since the update the screen lock occasionally stops working.  This seems to be happening more frequently and now happens almost daily.  I can pick up my phone after a few hours and the screen is not locked.  When I check the account setting it looks like the phone should be locking itself.
Sometime when the screen lock fails it happens after I get an email.  (I get an email and then suddenly the phone is not locked anymore.)
One thing I noticed right after the software update is that when I push the on button and the phone is locked I get a very brief screen showing what was on the screen before it was locked and then the screen changes to the proper locked screen image.  This is very repeatable and is clearly something wrong with the software.
Another related symptom is that after the screen lock fails to kick in I also lose the "home" button.  When I push it nothing happens.
It is also disturbing that there is no place to look on your website to see why the software is being changed and what is being affected.  When you request more information on the phone all it tells you is that a software update is available and you need to download it before you can do anything else.
This is what I have now:  android 2.2.1, baseband version VS660MV6.6038.1001, kernel 2.6.32.9, build FRG83, SW version VS660ZV6.
I only use my phone for phone calls and the internet so I don't have a lot of stuff on the phone and have not added any new apps since before the software update.
Please help me fix this.  Thank you

This is happening to my Vortex, also.  Seems to happen at the same time each day (late morning) and appears to be correlated to my daily scheduled Backup Assistant timing.  Next time I use an app or something, the screen seems to lock as usual.  Haven't figured out the problem and can't help with your other questions.
I don't know whether this is related, but since this has been happening, I also notice that I have not been able to power down my phone without first unlocking the screen.

  • How do I restore my ipod to factory settings, but I have a passcode lock, and my screen is broken so I can't type in my password when I connect to itunes?

Okay so I have had my ipod 4th gen for almost 2 years buy the screen has fallen out of the back casing, (I bought it as refurbished) and I am trying to reset it to factory settings, so when I get a new one I can register my device on apps/games since some apps require that you can only register on one device, but I think the thing that connects to the screen is ripped so the screen won't turn on and I can't physically touch it. What I want to know is how can I restore it with me not being able to type in the password lock since the screen is broken?
or is there a way to disable the passcode lock through the computer?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

my iphone screen is broken and i need to access it through itunes but my phone is locked. it cannot be unlocked on the screen but is there any way i can do it on itunes so i can access it?

Depends, if you've synced with this iTunes, while that passcode was enabled, you won't be prompted to enter the passcode when connecting your phone. If you have not synced, while that passcode was enabled, you will. So, if you fall in the later, there is no way to do what you want.

  • TS1424 itunes is saying i cant connect to itunes because im locked out with my passcode but my display screen is broken and i cant see anything but my phone works, what should i do? i want to back up my phone before i upload my new one! help me please

im locked out of itunes because i need to put my passcode in but my display screen is broken. i dont know how to fix it because im tying to back up my old iphone but i cant without putting in my passcode.

If you have synced the device on a computer in the past, you can back it up without the passcode. If you have not synced/backed up the device before, then you are out of luck. No way to back it up or sync it without the passcode.

  • I cannot sync my phone because my device is locked and the screen is broken. how can i get around this?

My screen on my iPhone 5s 16g has broken and i just received a new one in the mail. i want to sync my old phone to iTunes so i can restore my new one, but cannot sync do to the fact that my screen is broken and i am unable to unlock the phone… how can i get around this?

You don't. If you use a 3rd party to "fix it" or attempt to do it yourself, Apple will reject the return and charge you the full price of the phone as if you had not returned it at all.
It's too late. You should have been backing up before it failed.

  • My ipod touch screen is broken and whenever i press the lock screen button, the screen is white, what can i do to fix this?

so my ipod touch screen is broken, and whenver i try to unlock the ipod screen, all that i can see is the top right hand corner of my ipod, and the rest is all whited out. Also, the jack which support the headphones to stay in place, one of the balls in the jack is pushed in which causes the headphones and stereo jack to slip all the time. I also have a problem which is when i try to sync my ipod to itunes. Last time i did it(which was 4 years ago), i synced my ipod and i started out with 225 songs, after the syncing process was complete, i ended up with 119 songs. I'm afraid to resync my ipod or back up my ipod to a computer because i dont want to lose the wonderful collection of 589 songs i have now. I'd really appreciate it if i got some feedback. Thanks.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • HT1212 my screen is broken but phone still works but have a pass code onit how do i sync the phone when its locked and unable to unlock

    hi
i have an iphone 5 and the screen is broken looks as if the phone is off, but the phone still works if sum1 rings me i can answer it aslong as i have earphones in,
but i need to sync it to itunes and it would let me as i have a passcode onit is their anyway around this preblem
    cheers
    ash

There is no way out of the problem unless you have previously synced it with a computer. If you Restore the phone on the last computer it synced to it will remove the passcode and restore the contents, but if you don't have access to that computer there is no way to recover the contents of the phone.

  • I cant back up my iPhone, as it needs a password but my screen is broken and i cant put in a password

I cant back up my iPhone, as it needs a password but my screen is broken and i cant put in a password, is there anyways around this situation

If your phone is locked because you entered passcode wrong too many times then you need to restore as new  and data will be lost

  • 4.2 - No longer able to play TV Shows and Movies with the screen locked

I know this sounds like a weird thing to want, but some Movies and TV Shows are perfectly suitable for listening to without the picture (e.g. musicals, comedies, chat shows).
Prior to 4.2, even though locking the screen stops a Movie or TV Show from playing, you could resume it by double-clicking the home button and then pressing play. This would leave the screen locked, but play just the soundtrack of the Movie or TV Show you had been watching.
Now, with the 4.2 update, this is broken - and not just in a "feature removed" kind of way. If I try and resume a Move or TV Show as I did before, I get the play button, and clicking on it appears to start for a fraction of a second, before the screen abruptly switches back to the locked screen background.
This is extremely disappointing, but I just wanted to check here first to see if it's just my phone doing this, or whether it really is a bug.

  • Lost iPhone with screen lock.

I lost my iPhone 5 with screen lock. Im 99% sure that I had set screenlock security & that if password was punched in wrong 10 times it would erase all data. What are the chances?. Should I still be concern about changing my app paswords such as (Facebook, IG, Snapchat, Yahoo, GMail, etc.) My wireless network said I can erase all data on my phone using iCloud, but not sure how...This is the first time i lose my iPhone. Need advice.

If you lost the iPhone without having turned on Find My Phone, the iPhone can be cleansed and used.  If Find My Phone was on, then it cannot be broken.  Tha said it is still a very good idea to change your passwords associated with accounts on your iPhone.

  • 5800 screen locked (cant unlock), how can i restor...

Basically i have a 5800 xpress music nokia, the screen lock slide button stopped working, so i started poking something down into the slide gap to push against the white button to unlock the phone, now that has broken and the screen is on constant lock and there is no way of unlocking it, Turn phone off, enter pin, screen auto locks before i get chance to do anything.

  • I dropped my macbook pro and the screen is broken can i still use it with an external monitor? Or can I or how do I transfer hard drive files to my mac mini?

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.
Or can I / or how do I, transfer hard drive files to my mac mini? If not salvageable as is can I pull out the hard drive and make it an external harddrive? In otherwords is anything salvageable? It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I paid almost $4000 for this thing and it was running great - makes me sick to lose it!

I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's.
