Imagine if you had to do THIS in Microsoft Word:
1. To open a document, start Word...
2. As Word opens, press and hold the Alt key...
3. Choose the document you wish to open.
4. To create a new document, close Word and re-start it...
5. As Word opens, press and hold the Alt key...
6. Select the option to create a new document.
Ok, maybe I missed something, somewhere, but in the documentation it says to "Create a new library" or to "Open a library" I have to close Lightroom, and press the Alt key (Windows) or Options key (Mac) while LR is starting.
SAY WHAT???
If this is correct (and I don't see any options to create or switch libraries in any of the menus), then who's bright idea was this? A better question might be: do they still suffer from gainful employment???

I've been reading this thread with much interest. First point, I am not in any way computer savvy and don't understand at all terms such as SQL etc. Second point, I just want to be able to use a piece of software as easily as possible - nothing more, nothing less. Third point (and I can't be bothered to scroll back and find who posted this comment), is that I can't agree that MOST users will be quite happy with ONE Library. You might please be so kind as to inform me (us)upon which statistics you base this statement on.
Taking all the above into consideration, I am one of those that (a) wants, needs and users more than one Library for the simple reason that in todays all singing all dancing high-end technology environment, where if it can go wrong then it will, I have no faith or confidence in placing all of my data/images into one BIG database - yes computer savvy or not, I understand at least that term. I prefer to spread my risks a bit (maybe I should have sought employment in the Stock Market) over several Databases and spread over several drives. I also like to restrict them to 4.5Gb or so to make them easily backupable (is there such a word?) to DVD - another unreliable source.
So in short, for me personally as a future development, I would hope that Adobe give us users an option to change Databases via the UI interface so that we no longer have to close down Lightroom and reopen it just in order to change Databases.
Just one final point. I've watched countless instructional videos over the past month or so with respect to Lightroom, many by well respected Instructors/Photographers and each and every case, without exception, they are all using multiple Databases. Surely, allowing one to change Databases from within the UI can't be a difficult implementation can it??

Creating a relation between fields

This is my first use of Acrobat & Designer and I am having difficulty.
I want to create a relationship between a check-box field and a drop-down list field. I would like a specific value in a drop-down list to be shown when an adjacent check box field is selected.
I am not familiar enough with script writing to figure it out. I can't find any reference to such an option. I am sure someone much smarter than I must know the answer.
Also, is there a good reference book out there for LiveCycle Designer?

You can use the following script to do that:

What you need to do is for all the values in you drop down list, in the binding tab you need to assign values by clicking specify item values. So for my case above say I have a few countries listed, the item value for Canada in my drop down list is CA. So if my heckbox is ticked it will show Canada, if not it shows Albania and so on.
Does that make sense?

Creating a relationship between one table and the PK in another

Sorry the subject of this message is a bit vague. I'm not sure how to describe this problem in one sentence.
So here's the issue: I've just created a new block on my form based on table2. Table2 contains t1_id which is the FK link to Table1.
What I want is when one of the fields in Table2's block is changed and inserted, the t1_id is inserted in the applicable row. Essentially, I need :table2.t1_id to have the 'Copy From Item' property set at :table1.id
I cannot seem to see where in designer this option is. I asked a friend and he said what I need to do is 'create a relationship between the two values in designer'. Huh? In the Table Definitions the FK is set for the two, so I'm not sure how to do this.
Another problem, which I'm believing will be solved when this is, is that when the form loads, this new block, table2, is not automatically populated with the applicable values from the table.

Do you mean that you want to create a Master-Detail Form using Designer?
If yes, you need to define the entity usage from the Function Hierarchy Diagrammer, then attribute usage definition. Generate the module using Application Design Transformer. You need to define the Context so that master table's PK will be carried over to the detail table.

How to create the relationship between ESSBASE 11 and DM in OBIEE11

I have one requirement that there is one property table named 'Store Master' in DW,and it contains a lot of attribute, such as Open Date, Close Date, IS 24 Hour etc.
But another data source is essbase and based on this source, I create all reports.
In ESSBASE, it has one dimension and hierarchy Location, and it has four level, Country(L1),Region (L2),Province(L3),Store(L4)
So I want to know how to create the relationship between Location (ESSBASE) and Store Master (DM).
I try to create one relationship in physical layer between Gen4,Location and Store, then drag the open date and close date into Location Dimension in BMM,then Presentation Layer.
When I drag column 'Open Date' ,'Gen4,Location ' and 'Sales' into reports, it will generate the following error message:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 14020] None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request Dim Region.Store Open Date. (HY000)
However, when I remove the column 'Open Date'. it will be ok.

I am still assuming, that you are referring to the members not same in both the sources.If it is, the whole concept of federation is based on conforming dimensions. So, it needs that the same dimension information is present in both the sources and then only, you know we can analyze the numbers based on this dimension. So, either the dimension being different in both sources, or the members not present in both the dimensions might lead to incorrect numbers.
So I select Store Attributes in relation DB and Location in ESSBASE in physical layer, then create the physical join, such as right("Hour Sales"."H_Sales".""."H_Sales"."Gen6,Location",4) = "Authorization".""."EDW"."T_EDW_MDM_STORE"."US_CODE", then drag the OPEN_DATE and CLOSE_DATE in relation DB to Location in ESSBASE in BMM,finially drag them into presentation layer.We create physical layer relationships, to send over the same relation to the underlying database during querying. So, creating a physical relationship between essbase cube and relation database would not help here.
When you set up this federation, BI Server sends individual queries to each source and maps the conforming dimension members internally.

For the captioned issue, is it possible? We have successfully created linked server between 2 MS SQL server 2008 standard edition, but failed for the standard and express edition. Is there any trick to setup? Thanks.

SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition may not allow to create a linked server, but the workaround is to use the T-SQL. You can use sp_addlinkedserver and sp_addlinkedsrvlogin.

Easiest way to do this is to add additional transient attributes to your master view object, and then include those additional transient attributes in the list of source attributes for your view link. This way, you can get BC4J to automatically refer to their values with no additional code on your part.

I am trying to find a way to create a reference between spreadsheets.
For instance, I have a spreadsheet for each year to control things at home.
While creating a 2015 version, I can't find a way to make formulas using values from 2014 spreadsheet and make then referenced.
Does anyone know if it is possible and how can I do that?

I suppose you could cut and paste formula results to a tab in our new spreadsheet document if the vlues you want are contained there. There are some people who have written scripts to import data from different docs. But no, Numbers does not support links between docs.

Hi. I'm trying to create a Relation between my TTMS_Audit table and my Bundle_Exceptions table. This is the join condition:
ttms_audit.primary_key_values = bundle_exceptions.project_cd||','||bundle_exceptions.bundle||','||bundle_exceptions.exception_cd
And I get the following error:

Does anyone know if my concatenated values in the Join Condition are allowed? Can I even do this? Is there a logical work around?

I first created the concatenated values as a non-base table item on my form:
:NBT_PRIMARY_KEY_VALUES := :bundle_exceptions.project_cd||','||:bundle_exceptions.bundle||','||:bundle_exceptions.exception_cd;
Then my join condition simply became:
ttms_audit.primary_key_values = bundle_exceptions.nbt_primary_key_values

Only few tables will be moved to Archive Schema and other foriegn key tables will have a reference to the Live Schema. So how i can create the link between the Archive Schme to Live schema?
There is no question of creating database links between 2 schems. It is pure stupidity. If you want to access any object from another schema grant proper privileges and create a synonym for the object. Database links are not meant for this purpose.

You are facing these errors as you have already done the import, and when you try to re-import it says those objects are already available. If this fresh import, Please drop the the new user you have already created in the Datawarehouse instance, and recreate the User and start a fresh import.

Using Generic Connectivity (HSODBC) we can create db link between Oracle and SQL server.
Machine (1)

Version : SQL Server 2005
Operating System : Windows server 2003 x86

Table : T (“ T “ is the table existing in SQLTEST database with 10 rows)
Prerequisites in Machine (2):
a)     Oracle 10g software
b)     User account to access SQL Server database (sa/abc@123!)
c)     Existing SQL Server Database (SQLTEST)
d) Tables (testing purpose) (T)
Steps:
1)     Install Oracle 10.2.0.1 (Only SW,No need of database) *(Machine 2)*
2)     Create a DSN where your windows Oracle 10g SW resides *(Machine 2)*
Control panel >> Administrative Tools >> Data Source (ODBC) >> System DSN ADD

For connections between 10.2 and 9.2 the 9.2 end MUST be at 9.2.0.4 or higher. Connections between 10.2 and 9.2.0.1, 9.2.0.2 or 9.2.0.3 are not supported.
Connections between 10.2 and 9.0.1 was never been supported.
