Libraries panel kills tool shortcuts

Since updating PS recently, I've encountered a frustrating problem with the Libraries panel. Here are the steps to replicate it:
Select a tool (any tool)
Click inside the Libraries panel to put it in focus
Try to select a different tool with a keyboard shortcut (V for Move tool or A for Direct/path selection tool, for example)
Unless I am the only one experiencing this, you should fail at step 3. I have also noticed that Cmd+Z to undo also does not work. So in order to switch to a different tool after having added something to a library, I have to click the document so the Libraries panel doesn't have focus anymore. I can't figure out why this would be by design, but if it's a bug I don't see how they could have missed it.
This makes the new libraries feature unnecessarily cumbersome and frustrating to use, which is a shame since it could be a really handy way to store core UI elements for each project. I also don't understand why I can't highlight some text and click a color in my library to apply it to the selected text, but that's for another day I guess.
Anyone else having this problem? I'm on up-to-date Yosemite on a late 2012 iMac, and the most recent PS update.

Thanks for your reply. I am now at home, and experiencing the same issue on my brand new MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina, also running Yosemite 10.10 and up to date versions of the full CC suite. The iMac has an Apple keyboard and Logitech mouse attached, but the MBP has no peripherals at all. I'm in Norway, but my OSX is set to English. The machine at the office is a late 2012 iMac, with the same exact software. They were both upgraded from Mavericks, as opposed to a clean install, in case that matters.
Pressing ESC does not help. In fact, on the MBP the issue is slightly worse: clicking the document does not help, I have to click one of the other panels, like the tools or history panel. On the iMac it was sufficient to click the document.

You may try the list (or go straight to 6) if you have updated to Yosemite without reinstalling).
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Why is the libraries panel in photoshop gone?

Tool shortcuts not working

This has me stumped. Illustrator CS4 on 10.6.5/10.6.6. Only affecting Illustrator, not Photoshop or InDesign.
None of the tool shortcuts work, and when I hover over a tool in the toolbar, the popup description doesn't even show the letter shortcut in parentheses like it usually does. Some other shortcuts don't work as well. For instance, zoom out works, but to zoom in I have to add the shift key to the combo. "x" and Shift + "x" don't work for switching colors.
I tried resetting the preferences, no luck.

I figured it out! Mike, your screenshot got me thinking on the right track. It's so obvious now.
I had recently moved my entire Presets folder to Dropbox using this tutorial. As soon as I moved it back, everything was back to normal. I'm not sure why that would happen, maybe Dropbox doesn't handle those file types correctly. But I did the same thing with Photoshop, and I haven't had any problems with it.

Why can't tool shortcuts contain either function keys or the Cmd or Opt modifiers? I can do this in InDesign and want to use the same shortcuts in Illustrator.

For example, I started using F4 for the Selection tool, because typing "v" for the most basic tool is risky when working with type. I was updating my shortcuts in Illustrator to mirror my InDesign shortcuts and got shut down on the function key as shortcut. "Tool shortcuts cannot contain either function keys or the Cmd or Opt modifiers."

Error in Libraries panel

I have some CC libraries that I access through the Libraries panel in Photoshop. It has stopped working on my primary machine and gives the error:
"Sorry, we couldn't initialize the panel"
It, however, works in InDesign. It also works fine in Photshop on my secondary machine. I have not been able to find any documentation about the issue and am not sure how to get the panel working again. A screenshot is below.

Yes, I have restarted the computer (many times). And I have used my
Photoshop CC on another machine and can access the panel there with no
problem. So I don't think it's a problem with my libraries themselves. I
can also access my libraries from InDesign CC on the same machine. It's
just Photoshop on one specific machine that has the issue.
And yes, I can open the Libraries panel options. I tried closing the panel
and then reopening it from Window > Libraries. But the problem persists.
Any other ideas? Is there any way I can get direct support from Adobe? I
wasn't able to find a place to open a support case. I need to get this
resolved as it is really impacting my workflow, as I share these library's
with other folks.

InDesign CC Libraries panel is blank

The Libraries panel in InDesign CC on my Windows 7 PC is blank. It shows up correctly in Illustrator and Photoshop. Any suggestions? All the apps show as updated in my Apps folder. Thank you.

No icons within Control Panel, Administrative Tools Folder

I believe this problems relates to a terminal services policy package as
the problem only exists on our Citrix Metafrme servers. Regardless of who
logs onto the console of any of our 6 Citrix W2K servers, within Control
Panel, Administrative tools, there are either 0 icons or 2 .NET framework
icons only. I can however access all icons in Administrative Tools by
going through Start, Programs, Administrative tools.
Can anyone assure me that this is a policy issue and where the settings
are as I'm ****ed if I can find them?

Libraries panel is missing suddenly

Hi,
Yesterday i installed the update of Photoshop. I was happy that a new feature like creative cloud "libraries" appeared but when i restared photoshop some hours later, the feature disappeared suddenly. i cannot find it back anymore in my "window" menu or panels. How can i solve this. i re-installed photoshop several times but this did not solve the problem.

Hi Tommy,
Normally you should find your Library panel under Windows -> Libraries.
If not you may need to check under help (windows) if you are logged in (this is a requirement for this function). To get all to default setting test the down below steps.
1. Reset the preferences:
A:If a tool is behaving erratically, first try resetting just that tools preferences, via the method outlined by Len Hewitt in the post below this one.
If you have larger troubles, hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting up Photoshop. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences/settings file. (How to delete/reset Photoshop preferences)
2. Try to rename the oobe and run PS CC 2014.2 again:
Mac OS: Rename the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE to OOBE.old.
Windows: Rename the following OOBE folders to OOBE.old:
\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

Control Panel text tool options switched places

Hello there!
Prologue: I've been searching for a solution for this problem and couldn't find any. Perhaps I don't know how to search properly. The problem itself isn't catastrophic yet it is really annoying to me, as I like to work quickly and everything has to be on its place (OCD?).
Problem: Once I opened again my InDesign (CS6 v 8.0.2) and when using Text tool, I noticed its options has changed places and I don't manage to change it back. It is hard to describe the problem in words but I uploaded the image. Hopefully this helps to solve it:

It solved my problem! I kept trying to drag panels into their places, also checking preferences, workplace options and everything else.

Where are Logic Pro X 10.1.0. right hand mouse button tools shortcut?

I've always used my right hand mouse button for my editing tools in the main window and piano roll window.
Since the upgrade to Logic pro 10.1.0 I can no longer assign from Preferences>General>Assign R.H Mouse.
Has anyone resolved this problem?
Is there a new place to find the shortcut to assign tools to the R.H.mouse button.?
I like to use the mouse and not have to keep going to the top of the page assign 1 tool and use control and click. It takes way to long.

East West Orchestra Sound Libraries Instrument REGISTRATION TOOL

Hello.
I switched to Intel Mac and have a huge problem running my VST Instrument Plugins because I can't REGISTER them on my new machine!
East WEst uses a REGISTRATION TOOL for each library, I have Orchestra Gold , Stormdrum and GARRITAN Personal Orchestra, another one with similar tool
These TOOLS don't launch.
Anyone have a work around???
I can't re register them so I can use them, it's driving me nuts.
I should have kept my Old G5 for music production. :/

Hi John,
I'm in the same boat, unable to use play as a plugin in mac os x 10.6.5
I had a HD Crash and had to reinstall everything.
The Mac Service people updated the OSX and and now all the EastWest Complete Composer Collection does not open , saying the same thing:
Play could not load /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Play Libraries/EWQL Orchestra Library/Gold Instruments/Gold Strings/18 Violins/5 Keysw/../../../../Gold Samples/Gold Strings/18 Violins/18 V F/V18svF F/V18svF55 F.ews.
Something is going on with EastWest.
I'm now going back to Mac Osx 10.6 as it worked fine on this version

Crop Tool -- shortcut to advance to next frame since forward arrow doesn't work in crop tool?

Hi,
As a pro, I crop all my photos.
I normally use the forward arrow to move through each image, but with the crop tool the forward arrow doesn't work for advancing to the next frame.
It only adjusts the crop.
This is extremely frustrating for me as it slows down my workflow.
Is there a one key shortcut, within the Crop Tool -- that permits us to move forward from frame to frame?
I wish the forward key worked for this within the crop tool!
Is there an easy answer or a way to format something in Lightroom -- so I can have a one-key method to advance frames within the Crop tool?

I just tested it on my Mac and it worked with the Command + arrow Key...
However, using two fingers for this shortcut is a little clumsy and uncomfortable...
I think there's a way to create your own keyboard shortcuts -- do you know how to do this, maybe assigning a single key which would be a little easier?

How to change control panel options and shortcuts in CS4

I'm trying to customize the control panel in CS4 and am having trouble with a couple of options:
- I've turned on distribute options but it won't display (only the align options will)
- Where do I find/change the shortcut for "Highlight the first option in the Control panel" (currently cmd 6)

Updates to Folio Panel, Producer Tools and Content Viewer on iPad breaking scroll panels

This has not been a good morning.
Came into the office this morning, logged in and saw that there were updates for the Content Viewer, Producer Tools and the Folio Panel. Updated them all. Started to work some more on a promo piece for a new magazine and began to notice Scroll Panels using the "Pan Only" form within the Content Overlay panel no longer work. This was a great way to create scroll panels that could contain hyperlinks. Problem is, I am not sure where the problem lies. Is the problem with the Viewer or with the updates to the Folio Tools or Folio Panel? I am unfortunately on deadline for this afternoon and I don't have the luxury to troubleshoot this. Granted, I probably shouldn't have updated all of these tools at this juncture, but I was hoping that these updates would fix the problem I was having with the Desktop Viewer that wasn't working. Sadly, the Desktop Viewer works now, but that came with the price of losing functionality elsewhere.
Frustrated.

Yeah, it's been a project that I was working on for the last two weeks. We were supposed to have a final walk-through this afternoon and present it tomorrow. But now a good portion of the features that were working and had been promised no longer work. All out of no fault of my own. I understand that these things can happen, but this one is pretty bad and the timing was worse. Like I said, I shouldn't have updated the tools and the Viewer app until after the presentation... but then again, that may have been even worse. At least I was able to get the presentation postponed until Monday... gives me a little more time to figure out what to do.
Anyways, I did able to get a hold of someone through support and was able to send them some files. It's being looked at as I type this. I do have to give credit to the Adobe support staff, they've been helpful and pretty responsive! Thanks guys!
