Library Dimension

Hi everybody!
i'm italian so... sorry for my bad english!
i'm using aperture and it's really cool... but i've a question: i've imported 1.4 GB of pictures (only jpeg pictures, not RAW) and i have modified some pictures (i think 30-40 pictures, nothing). I'm using places for all pictures but not faces. So... my aperture library is 5.22 GB!
isn't too much?
ok that aperture create a duplicate of the pictures (the master and the current version, right?) but i have the library that is fourfold my "normal pictures folder", is strange!!!

Go into your preferences, and change the settings for the "previews". Set the quality to 6, and set the size limit to about 1920x1920.
Highlight all your thumbnails, right click on them and click "update previews" to rebuild them at a smaller size.
Another option is to turn off "automatically generate previews" - They are only needed for ilife/iwork integration or when using the app in "quick preview" mode.

Aperture library dimension: how to get it smaller?

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a fast library dimension growing up.
At the time I'm writing this post, I got 25Gb library with 18.000 referenced pictures stored on external Hd.
I prefer the raw files and I'm a bit concerned about the dimension.
I just tried to remove all previews but it didn't get better.
So I'm asking to you: is there a way to reduce the size of library?
And what makes the library so heavy?

What is it made by?
Just trying to clear up some of the mystery... And, who knows, maybe there's something in there that shouldn't be, like an errant movie or something. Either way, it doesn't hurt to look and be familiar with the structure, even if you never need to manipulate it... Helps when tracking down lost space, or understanding why things are as big as they are and whether it is the result of an error/bug or normal and expected operation.
The library is, in the OP's opinion, bigger than it should be.. But maybe for his situation and his images, it is only as big as it needs to be. A situation for which looking for managed images would only add to the confusion if there are none.

Application library/dimension library not opening in EPM 11.1.2.1

Hi,
Ive installed essbase and planning 11.1.2.1 64 bit on windows xp 64 bit machine. Installed all the components as specified in the instalation documentation. But EPMA server doesnt start.
I was able to log in to workspace and create an application, but application library failed to open. Also dimension library. Is it got something to do with EPMA server.
How to start this server, any additional components to be installed? apart from the regural components to be installed for planning.

I would stick with a supported OS. Windows Server 2003/2008 are generally your best bet for avoiding headaches.
You might check the Windows Event Viewer for additional information on your error if you choose to continue down the unsupported path.

Issue in migrating dimension from EPMA

Hi,
I have been trying to migrate an EPMA shared dimension from UAT to Dev. New members were created in Dev. But the properties, alias names were not updated. I am migrating the Shared Library dimensions using LCM EPM Architect in Foundation.
Is there a step I am missing?

First, Please validate that the properties are truly not getting updated (manually extract them via the File Generator).
Then, I would recommend making a copy of the app, toggling one of the dimensions that isn't migrating properly to Local, and then extracting that from the file generator (as a comparison) - and see if those properties are different than what you expect.
Lastly, I would do 2 things:
1. LCM the 'local' copy over to the target environment
2. Extract hierarchies in target using the file generator to confirm the properties truly are not being updated.
The trick with EPMA is that it keeps multiple copies of members in the relational repository, what I am trying to get you to do is see if a single copy is broken. EPMA 11.1.2.0 is overall less stable than 11.1.1.3.xx, 11.1.1.4.xx and 11.1.2.1+
Also, make sure the properties were set for your appropriate product... Essbase BSO, Essbase ASO, Planning, etc. Each set of properties has a different header and cannot be used across products

11.1.2.1 stability problem

Ive installed EPM 11.1.2.1(essbase,planning,HFR) 64 bit on windows xp professional 64 bit. system works fine for sometime, but fails after some time. It starts throwing a sequence of errors.

EPM Modules not opening in Hyperion 9 planning workspace

Hi,
Our problem is relating EPM, we did Hyperion 9.3 installation on a test server and made replicas of 2 live applications but the deploy aborted at 0%. Assuming it was some configuration problem we reinstalled Hyperion but this time we could not open EPM application library, dimension library, job console etc. We got the following error:

When we try to access EPMA directly from <http://localhost:19000/awb/> we get the following error with the one above:

We raised an SR and searched the forum and the issue was pointed to the IIS, but we checked it and cannot find anything out of the ordinary there. If anyone has any ideas, help would be appreciated, we're in a pickle =(

I am not sure of exactly which settings were changed because a number of changes were made by Oracle Support themselves, but the documented steps are as follows.
In our IIS Manager under servername the websites expanded to 'Hyperion' which was our hyperion virtual directory. As per System 9 Installation and Configuration Guide, we need to have EPMA connection pools and Virtual Directories as "hyperion-bpma-server" so they first stopped EPMA services then:
1. Reconfigured EPMA using Configuration utility.
2. Altered the connection pool and Virtual Directories as hyperion-bpma-server
- Our application pool only had DefaultAppPool, so a new pool was created as 'bpma' > 'hyperion-bpma-server'
- The 'Hyperion' virtual directory was deleted, new website was create as 'Default Web Site' with C:\Inetpub\wwwroot as local path. Under 'Default Web Site' a new virtual directory was made as 'hyperion-bpma-server' with local path C:\Hyperion\BPMA\AppServer\DimensionServer\WebService and selected 'bpma' as its application pool.
3. Configured virtual directory settings.
4. Copied bin & temp folders from our Production EPMA server path C:\Hyperion\BPMA\AppServer\DimensionServer\WebService, since these folders did not exist in our test server.
5. Restarted IIS
6. Restarted Web Server(Apache)
7. Started the EPMA Services.
Logged into Workspace and Application Library and Dimension Library were accessible, and we successfully created and deployed our applications.

EPMLCM-37050: Fail during LCM Export

I am trying to run a nightly export of the LCM objects in my production environment and it is failing, quite spectacularly, every night.
Many of the artifacts produce the failure message below in the Migration Status Report, but I cannot find any further details about what happened. I can export artifacts individually just fine, but this nightly process produces all of these failures (and of course the export files never show up).
Error in migrating artifact, "/Shared Library Dimensions/Account".
EPMLCM-37050: Fail
Any place I can look for more details?

ASO reporting cube over Planning application

Hi All,
We have a requirement where we need to create an ASO reporting cube over a HP application (1 plan type only). (The HP app is deployed via EPMA but with local dimensions.)
(v11.1.2.1)
Note that this needs to be automated for monthly load process so the solution needs to be dynamic in nature.
1. Is there any way to automate BSO to ASO conversion?
2. Is there any way to automate 'Map to reporting' option in HP application?
Can any one suggest the best practice to do this.

You can copy dimensions within the Shared Library, within an application, or between the Shared Library and an application. You cannot copy a dimension directly from one application to another.

You can still make your Planning dimension local and Share them to Shared Library. You can then move the shared library dimension to Essbase application and keep that as Local (but why all local dimensions and use EPMA?)
2. To resync you have a dimension resync command (load them to Shared or individual app, I still don't see a point why you are using EPMA if all dimenions are local)

3. I never used that one, however tried it on Sample Basic and found that it is not converting BSO formulas to MDX formulas. (Not a very helpful one, it just converts your BSO hier to ASO hier)

When we start the dimension server from “start -> all programs -> oracle EPM systems -> foundation services -> performance management architect -> start dimension server”

• Hyperion EPM Architect - .Net JNI Bridge – shows started when Process manager starts but dies out with Process Manager.
• Hyperion EPM Architect - Engine Manager- shows started when Process manager starts but dies out with Process Manager.
• Hyperion EPM Architect - Event Manager – Never starts. The Process manager fails when it starts this process.

Workspace and HFM 9.3.1 - Missing Dimension library

Im new to hfm. Im installing hfm 9.3.1 and trying to laod the sample applications.
Env: xp, Oracle 10g.
I downloaded the sw from oracle edelivery site.
I installed shared services and configured.
I installed workspace(Hyperion Reporting and Analysis s9 service release 9.3.1 - v11207-01 and Hyperion Reporting and Analysis s9 UI service release 9.3.1 - v11223-01) and configured.
Both the above are working fine.
hfm (Hyperion financial mangement - s9 Release 9.3.1 installer v11283-01 and Hyperion financial mangement - s9 Release 9.3.1 software development kit - v11284)
I installed and configured and created an application which Im able to access in web client.
when I try to deploy the sample applications which comes with the installation in hfm,
In workspace - Navigate: I can see and the open the application which i created and working fine.
But Navigate -> Administer -> dimension library is missing (dimension library is missing)
I can see Navigate -> Administer -> application library. But it given an error - Invalid or could not find module configuration.
I think Im missing something, which needs to be installed and configured. Please help.

Hi,
You won't get Dimension Library in 9.3.1. Dimension Library comes with EPMA which is available in 9.3.3 onwards.

Has this ever worked? If so, restart your EPMA web service and the EPMA process manager service.
If this has never worked, can you goto http://EPMAMACHINE:19091/awb
where EPMAMACHINE is the ip address or name and see if you get the login prompt. If the login prompt here is working and you can login properly then I suggest you re-deploy workspace and the web server configuration from the config tool.

I'm successfully done the installation and cofiguration 11.1.1.3 version.
But, I am getting the following error in worspace while accessing the appication and dimension libraries.

I am not able to open my Planning application
I am able to connect but dimension library and application library not connecting ,not able to open.
its throwing error
(500) Internal server
error code:org.appache.axisFault
My vesion is 11
all services are started.
please help me on this.

I restarted all services ,but still same problem
but I am able to connect essbase and i can open data forms
but not application library and dimension lbrary
where should i find the logs which folder.
