Library-directory in application.xml

Will WL pick up all the jars that are specified in the lib directory or the directroy specified in the library-directory element of application.xml ?
Do the classes all HAVE to be jarred up ? Can I just put a classes directory under lib and get WL to pick it up from there ?
thanks

Hi,
Until we don't try to change the *"library-directory"* through *"application.xml"* file...
Then By Default An EAR application has *"<EAR_APP>\APP-INF\lib"* directory which is designed to place all the Jar files which we want to be shared by all the modules (war/ejbJar...etc) available inside that EAR Application.
EAR application has *"<EAR_APP>\APP-INF\classes"* directory which is designed to place all the *.class files which we want to be shared by all the modules (war/ejbJar...etc) available inside that EAR Application.
The "APP-INF\lib" directory cannot be used to share the *.class files. Similarly "APP-INF\classes" directory cannot be used to share the *.jar files.
Please refer to: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/06/22/how-to-build-ear-application-for-weblogic/ for more information.
<b><font color=red>NOTE: Never Put a *.class file inside "lib" (Library Directory) ... Library directories are designed to be placed only JAR files and ZIP files.</font></b>

  • Using ADL when Application.xml and Content.swf are not in the BIN directory

    Hello, I am trying to use the air debug launcher (ADL) to
    launch a simple air app. My issue is I am trying to have ADL launch
    this app from outside of the bin directory of the SDK. Whenever I
    try to pass adl the full path to the Applicaiton.xml file it says
    "application descriptor not found" Does anyone know how to get
    around this? How can I run an AIR app that is outside of the bin?
    My situation C:\AIR has the Applicaiton.xml and Content.swf
    files, then a directory way below C:\Program Files\....\..... has
    the bin directory. I can run adl using its full path C:\Program
    Files\....\bin\adl, but when I pass it the full path for
    Application.xml it fails.
    By the way when I put everything in the bin, or below the bin
    it works just fine.

    If you're receiving this error message then the full path
    you're specifying for application.xml must be incorrect.

  • Application.xml - Unknown Assembly Tag

    Hello:
    Has anyone encountered the error:
    05/11/18 10:01:39 Error instantiating application at ..... Unknown assembly tag in file:..... <library>
    This happens when I start up the oc4j application server...
    I am positive that it happens because of the following line in my application.xml file:
    <library path="../bvp-web/WEB-INF/lib"/>
    When I take that line out, the applicaiton starts up fine.
    Does anyone have any thoughts as to why I am getting that error? Isn't <library> a tag that is expected to be in the application.xml file?
    I need that line in there since my jsps refer to classes that are in that directory.
    Thanks for your help.

    <library> tag only applies to the orion-application.xml in META-INF/ of a j2ee application or the j2ee/home/config/application.xml, which is actually the orion-application.xml of the default application of oc4j.

  • Error copying application.xml icons: .../bin-release/assets/icons' does not exist

    Hi,
    Whenever I try to export the release build I get error from COmpiler during the process that "Error copying application.xml icons: Resource '/Project_Name/bin-release/assets/icons' does not exist."  I have specified 4 icons in the -app.xml file of sizes 16,32,48,128 which exist in the path specified and files are not corrupt. I have checked and unchecked the compiler directive "Copy non-embedded resources in the Output file" but that has not helped too.
    Can somebody please advise what do I do in this situation?
    We are using

    This is somewhat urgent guys...

    Frank,
    Thank you for your answer. I had not checked (will do so tonight).
    I had considered it adequate to wipe out the entire system directory (thereby wiping out the integrated weblogic server), but perhaps it was not adequate? I did not specify that this is on the integrated server, but that is the case....

  • How to include custom application.xml in JDev9i project

    Can anybody explain to me how to include a custom application.xml file when deploying to an .ear file? I need to include application wide security roles, and I can't see where in Jev9i how to do this.
    After searching this forum, I see that jdev9i can't include the orion-application.xml, but I want to include just the standard J2EE application.xml. Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    matt

    The standard application.xml file unfortunately can't be customized in JDev 9.0.2. The reasons why this capability was left out of JDev 9.0.2 are same reasons why the other EAR-level XML files were excluded. The OTN thread
    Re: Regarding 11i and E-business suite
    has a summary of those reasons, which you've probably seen. We know this is an area in need of improvement and will be adding this functionality in the JDev 9.0.3 release. Until then, you'll have to go with a work-around like an Ant build file, batch file, Java application, or some other kind of script.
    Below is a sample Java application which can be used to insert <security-role> elements into an EAR file's application.xml. Modify the main() method to customize for your purposes, and put xmlparserv2.jar on the classpath (in a JDev project, add the "Oracle XML Parser v2" library):
    package mypackage4;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.util.zip.*;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.*;

  • Newbie: orion-application.xml in both deployment and applications dirs

    Okay,
    I am using OAS 10.1.2.2 and have deployed an OC4J instance with a web application. The web application that I deployed (from a .war file) was installed normally but for some reason I have an orion-application.xml file in both the +/application-deployments/webappname/+ and the +/applications/webappname/META-INF/+ directories. They look almost identical with the differences noted below:
    applications directory version:
    This file has a complete definition for the jazn provider but is missing a reference to the principals.xml file.
    jazn section looks like this:
         <jazn provider="LDAP" location="ldap://ldap.server.edu:389">
              <property name="ldap.user" value="cn=username" />
              <property name="ldap.password" value="!password" />
              <property name="ldap.cache.session.enable" value="false"/>
              <property name="ldap.cache.realm.enable" value="false"/>
              <property name="ldap.cache.policy.enable" value="false"/>
              <property name="jaas.username.simple" value="true" />
              <jazn-web-app auth-method="SSO"/>
         </jazn>
    application-deployments directory version:
    It points to a principals.xml file and gives a generic definition for the jazn provider (specifies provider="LDAP" and a default-realm but no location attribute in the jazn tag).
    jazn section looks like this:
         <jazn provider="LDAP" default-realm="whidbey1">
              <jazn-web-app auth-method="SSO"/>
              <property name="jaas.username.simple" value="true" />
         </jazn>
    I assume the one defined in the +/applications/webappname/META-INF+ is the proper one since it has all the detailed OID connection information. However, are both needed? If so, why? If not, which one is being used and why would there be two of them?
    I've checked all the documentation and have found several references to it being installed in one or the other place but not both.
    Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
    The difference between these files is this:
    The one in the applications/ tree is the one that comes packaged in your ear file. This is a way to package your deployment preferences. At deployment time, enterprise manager extracts this file to configure your deployment.
    The one in the application-deployments directory is the one that is actually in use.
    LDAP connection from OC4J containers is specified on the container level, because this is container-level security. This means that using the enterprise manager, you configure your container to connect to the LDAP (enterprise manager, tab administration, item Identity Management). In the orion-application.xml, you no longer need the details because they are stored on container level. So these are removed when deploying your application, leaving only what you see.
    The configuration parameters you specify can be added as container startup parameters using -Dparam=value.

  • Flash Builder + unit tests = Unknown error generating output application.xml

    Please see my initial forum post here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3730193
    This forum does not let me mark my initial post as "not answered" (re-opened) and it seems the dev is not going to respond to it as-is (maybe because he does not know)... so I'll re-open it this way
    An update to my initial post:
    I am now seeing this on Flex 4.1 projects as well. Both AIR and Flex Library projects.
    It appears to be some kind of race condition. Sometimes unit tests will launch on the first try, other times it takes 4-5 tries. If I keep the unit tests application XML open in the background, even on successful launches I see that the <content> node is re-written to contain the square brackets.

    Thanks Sudhir. I had just assumed that you were not getting the notifications since the ticket was marked as "answered".
    I appreciate your help in this matter.

  • Customized orion-application.xml

    Configuration:
    Jdeveloper 9i Release 2 Production Version
    I have a customized orion-application.xml file under <project-directory>/src/META-INF directory. I would like to package this along with my application.
    How do I include it in my Deployment Profile (.ear)?
    TIA,

    Another OTN thread on this topic:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=988554
    The middle of that thread (read the beginning to get the full context) has an answer relevant to your question here.
    ------ begin quoted --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hello,
    JDeveloper 9.0.2 is limited in this area unfortunately. For the use case you are describing, there are two work-arounds:
    1) Use an Ant build file (or any other script) as you mentioned.
    2) Do your testing in the embedded OC4J server instead of an external OC4J server. You should then be able to make manual changes to the orion-application.xml file used by the embedded server -- it's in the Workspace directory and has a name like "Workspace1-oc4j-app.xml".
    We were expecting users to use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to configure production J2EE applications, since JDeveloper is a development tool whereas OEM is the real server administration tool. For some time, we've debated internally on the JDev team whether that kind of feature separation across Oracle products makes sense. It's clear that developers like you need to perform some administration tasks in the course of testing a production app, so we focused on allowing that for JDeveloper's integrated OC4J server ("embedded OC4J") and left the administration of an external OC4J server to OEM.
    For future JDeveloper releases, we will probably have an increasing level of direct support for OC4J administration, but to what extent we will pursue that is still in discussion.
    For 9.0.3, I've filed bug 2392697 to track the issue you are reporting (with reference to this OTN thread) to make sure that it is resolved properly for the 9.0.3 release.

  • Autocreate-tables="false" orion-application.xml

    using oc4j standalone(9.0.3). CMP2.0. jeveloper(9.0.3).
    The jdeveloper Domain UML entity diagram and generated
    entity beans are deployed with default tables generated. The EJB2.0 Dev Guide(9.0.3), says to copy the generated orion-ejb-jar.xml from the deployment directory to the source meta-inf directory to prevent the tables from being re-genrated in the database. However the EJB2.0 Howtos say to set autocreate-tables="false" in orion-application.xml to do this.
    Do I need the orion-application.xml file in the application ear file in addition to the orion-ejb-jar.xml? So far I've been able to deploy and run without any orion files, and I would rather keep them to a minimum

    "Self I said..."
    Got frostbite waiting for a reply. I tried deploying
    with just the orion-ejb-jar.xml in the application ear file. Table were not created, so it looks like I can go with just one orion file for now. I can leave the orion-application.xml with autocreate=false, out of the ear file, for now anyways.

  • WLST script to edit application.xml

    We have an EAR that is being deployed to 6 different domains. I was wondering if there is a way to dynamically set the value of the "web-uri" and "context-root" elements of the application.xml file for all the modules inside the EAR, based on the domain in which the EAR is being deployed.
    Currently, we are making 6 copies of the EAR, editing the application.xml file in each EAR and deploying them through the weblogic admin console. I thought I would write a script to automate the process.

    Hi,
    If you want to dynamicall make any Modifications in your Deployment Descriptors like "application.xml"..."weblogic.xml"...etc then you can use *"Plan.xml"* feature provided bu WebLogic....

  • Orion-application.xml location

    Hi,
    I am building an EAR file in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 and then deploying it on 10G server. I need to add the orion-application.xml file to my EAR file. Where should I put it relatively to the home directory of my web application?
    This file already exists on the server in application-deployments/<app_name> directory, however it was copied there manually.
    thanks in advance

    You have to put it in the META-INF of the EAR. The directory where the application.xml resides.

    Hi,
    I have a bc4j application. I don't want to use the default orion-application.xml file.
    I created a new one and put that under a new folder named meta-inf.
    In project properties, I created a new file groups named meta-inf and defined my new meta-inf folder.
    when the project gets deployed, doesn't have my custom orion-application.xml file.
    it is still using the default one.
    Any idea?
    thanks,

    Hi,
    you can only have one orion-application.xml in a project and it need to be in the specified location. You can change the default with your file, but this is what you can do.
    If you don't believe, open the deployment profile of your application, which is the part creating teh WAR and EAR file, and add a new File Group pointing to this directory (note that the directory must be under the SRC folder of the project

  • StorageDir in Application.xml

    We store all of our flv files on a network storage device.
    I've setup a VirtualDirectory in vhosts.xml that maps a virtual
    path to the network drive.
    I have noted the StorageDir in application.xml and tried
    changing this to the network drive. It was not successful.
    My question is what is the difference between these two
    settings (other than the ability to add the virtual path part of
    the Virtual Directory).
    We plan on having only a few applications and passing the
    different rtmp paths via xml or html to the player. Should we use
    the StorageDir (and if so how to make it a network path) or should
    we continue to just add /{dirname} to the rtmp and let it map to
    the network drive.
    thanks,
    sds

    I think you need to use <VirtualDirectory> settings rather than <StorageDir> setting. Please refer this page for more info:http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_AdminGuide/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2 925e64-7fc7.html

  • Obant reports ORABPEL-00005 (collaxa library directory not found)

    Hi,
    I´m trying to deploy some tasks using obant and several build.xml´s. I´ve done this for dozen times now, but today I got an error message that says:
    build.xml:42: ORABPEL-00005
    Collaxa-Library-Verzeichnis nicht gefunden.
    Das angegebene BPM-Library-Verzeichnis "lib/" wurde nicht gefunden.
    Here a maybe-translation:
    build.xml:42: ORABPEL-00005
    Collaxa-Library-Directory not found
    The indicated BPM-Library-Directory "lib/" was not found
    Well, the funny thing is, that when I´m running "obant" from command-line everything works fine - but when I´m calling the it from another ant-script it fails. The corresponding line in build.xml points to the bpelc-task:
    <target name="main">
    <bpelc input="${basedir}/bpel.xml" rev="${rev}" deploy="${deploy}" />
    </target>
    I´ve inserted an <echo ... /> to get the values of those variables (basedir/rev/deploy) used and everything seems to be in order. Here´s how I call this build.xml.
    main/build.xml:
         <target name="deployBPELServices">
              <property name="deploy" id="deploy" value="testDomain"/>
              <ant dir="services/all" antfile="build.xml" target="all">
                   <reference refid="deploy"/>
              </ant>
         </target>
    main/services/all/build.xml:
    <property name="deploy" id="deploy" value="default"/>
    <property name="rev" value="1.0"/>
         <target name="BpelProcess1">
              <ant dir="${basedir}/../BpelProcess1/"/>
         </target>
    <target name="all" depends="BpelProcess1"/>
    main/services/BpelProcess1/build.xml:
    <target name="main">
    <bpelc input="${basedir}/bpel.xml" rev="${rev}" deploy="${deploy}" />
    </target>
    Usualy I start the deployment by using "obant deployBPELServices", which fails. When I´m using "obant" directly from main/services/all it works flawless.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thnx in advance,
    Max

    Hi Clemens,
    Yes, the sample´s build.xml were my reference on how to set up this whole thing. I did it this the very same procedure for the last year with 26 BPEL-processes and yesterday just added a new process and this happend. Nevertheless, also if I remove the changes made to the main build.xml it doesn´t work (tested on 2 systems). Well at least, obviously this is my fault, not BPEL´s :) Whatever, I succeeed with the following:
    Instead of using
    <target name="deployBPELServices">
    <property name="deploy" id="deploy" value="testDomain"/>
    <ant dir="services/all" antfile="build.xml" target="all">
    <reference refid="deploy"/>
    </ant>
    </target>
    I´m now doing it this way:
    <target name="deployBPELServices">
    <property name="deploy" id="deploy" value="testDomain"/>
    <exec dir="services/all" executable="cmd">
    <arg line="/c ${ORABPEL}/bin/obant.bat -Ddeploy=${deploy}"/>
    </exec>
    </target>
    ${ORABPEL} points to my BPEL installation.
    Thnx anyway :)
    Greetings,
    Max

    Creating EAR files from JDeveloper is different then creating EAR files from commandline. The easiest way to do this from command line is to put everything in one directory structure and issue the JAR command. JAR does not create files from scratch (with the exception of Manifest.mf).
