Library disapeared

My library has disapeared for my phone music. I was having no problems since purchase (1 week)but when I turned my pc on yesterday there was a blank library. The music is on my hard drive and the only library listed is the empty one. When I synch it synchs to the last format, not the blank one though. How can I create a new library for my phone using the music in the database?

It sounds like your iTunes library file has been accidentally deleted. If iTunes doesn't find it when starting it creates a new, empty one. Old versions are backed up in My Documents\My Music\iTunes\previousituneslibraries, so you may be able to recover your library if there is a recent backup. If there are none you can rebuild it by importing \My Docuemnts\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music, but you will lose your custom settings and playlists.

Well where is your library located now if not in the iTunes folder? See the links below on what your iTunes folder should look like and put it back together:

why does my library disapear every time I close the file. When I re-enter Itunes library it makes me reload my library from a back-up file. Then I end-up with duplicates.

Clone your system.
Never apply updates w/o one.
And yes there is a page with all the Apple Downloads to do manually and then you can keep it on hand. Same for the OS X Lion or ML installer - save them before running. Still on 10.6.8 so you have OS X 10.6 DVD.
Combo updates do not do any harm. There could be issues to the drive directory beforehand.
Mac Pro has been shipping with Lion since summer 2011, though you can even now still reinstall iwth 10.6.4+

My iPhone4s was recently replaced by apple due to grey out on wifi. when I went to sync with my laptop my iPhoto library disapeared and I was left with an empty library. I cannot find my old library on my laptop. I only get one option for a library when i open iPhoto while holding down option key. I am worried I have lost all my photos. there seems ot be no iPhoto library on my iCloud either.

Syncing with an iPhone should not delete the iPhoto library on your mac. It only will upload photos to the phone (iTunes sync) or import (connecting by USB). How did you sync your phone?
TD, do you know of any way, that a sync could delete an iPhoto Library on a Mac?
You may have opened a wrong library or may be working from a different user account. Are you using the same user name and Apple ID as before?
How have you searched for iPhoto libraries? Have you searched with Spotlight?
Each iPhoto library contains a file called "Library6.iPhoto" - even if your iPhoto library should no longer be recognisable as photolibrary, this file should be found:
Type "Library6" into the "Spotlight" search field in the upper right corner of your screen, like this:
When you see a list of files, select one of them and hold down the key combination ⌥⌘ to reveal the path to the file.
If Spotlight cannot find the file in the packages, use "FindAnyFile" http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile

I'm running Itunes 9.0.1.8 on a computer with windows vista home premium. Every time I download a windows update, my entire itunes library disapears... can anyone please help me solve this problem?

I always make copies on my two library files before updating.
That is:
iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml in teh iTunes folder.

I just downloaded itunes 7. I restarted and when i opened it again the itunes icon is gone. instead there is Ulead Photo Explorer icon instead i tired opening it and it told me to click agree. I did. know i click it again n nothing happened?? if i delete it and install it again would my library disapear????????? HelP

I suggest you run permission repair and also repair disk from your software install DVD (not the same thing).

In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

My iTunes library has disapeared? I now have zero songs in my library and when i try and synch my iphone i get the message "this iphone is synched with another computer, do you want to erase......" It is 100% synched with this computer as i only have one. I've done a bit of digging around but can't find a solution. I also DO NOT have AVG antivirus so it's not that either. One of the options is to use the "previous iTunes Libraries" folder, but i don''t have one of those either, it's almost like it's a brand new install. Please help, i need my music!

Are the media files still present inside the media folder? Have you checked for the presence of .tmp files in the main iTunes folder?
If recovery from the computer is not possible then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto.
Restore from your back up is the easiest solution.

You've merely inadvertently hidden it.
Hiding/unhiding panels and modules is a little known feature of Lightroom which seems to put the fear of God into unsuspecting newbies who are not aware of the feature.
Right-click (CTRL Click on Mac) on the Module names and restore the check mark to Library.

My pictures folder and iphoto library have disapeared

I recently came to use iphoto and got the message that it could not find the library. I did not create a new library for fear of overrighting something that may actually there. I did look at the iphoto discussions to get some help. As a result, I did search the MAC HD for the iphoto.db, jpg files, and various album names, but found nothing. I did notice however, that the pictures folder has disapearred. I checked out the trash, but nothing was there. I am not the only user of the computer (wife and kids use it as well) so someone may have inadvertantly deleted it. When I did search with I did notice a series of invisible files in the iphoto cashe. I do not know if they may contain any vestiges of my pictures.
Any thoughts suggestions?

The search you did should find the iPhoto Library. The default location for the iPhoto Library is in the Pictures folders.
Are there any other Users on your computer that have their own Users folder?
I guess you don't see the Pictures folder in the sidebar of your finder window either.
That's a bummer!
Have you asked your family about this?
By the way, you can create a new library and it will not overwrite your other library. Just give the new library a different name or save it in a folder other than the Pictures folder.
Get back if you can think of anything else.

I have an iphone and all my explicit music has disapeared on my iphone. in my itunes library it is all there but it wont go back on to my iphone. my restrictions are set that i can have explicit music on the devise. what do i do to get my music back

Have you looked at the settings in iTunes. Is music syncing manual or automatic. More info please. I would try removing all restrictions as an initial test.

ITunes music library has disapeared

I have a Mac mini with all my music stored on a Time Capsule. I've recently put the Mac mini to sleep but turned the TC off at the plug.
I've just gone to start up iTunes and now all the music has gone from my iTunes. It's still on my TC but the library is blank.
Could anyone tell me why?

try this:
quit iTunes
go to your iTunes folder (on the TC or your boot drive) and move the file called iTunes library to the desktop
open the folder previous iTunes libraries and find the iTunes library file with the latest date appended
move this file to the iTunes folder and rename it iTunes library (i.e. remove the date)
fire up iTunes while holding option (⌥), click on choose library when prompted, and the select the iTunes library file you just renamed
