"library" error message

My hard drive died a quiet death yesterday. I have downloaded itunes to the new drive, but when I try to sync I get the following message: "The ipod is synced with another i tunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this itunes library?" I have uninstalled the program and installed the original itunes version I got with my 20gb white clickwheel ipod but i keep getting the same message. Any ideas how to get my ipod to sync w/o saying goodbye to the 2000 songs I imported?
20GB White Clickwheel   Windows XP

Before you open iTunes, go to My computer. There should be a thing for your iPod, open it. Now, make sure that you can see hidden folders (Tools > Folder Options > in the "View" Tab) There should be a hidden Folder called something like "iPod Control" if I remember correctly, in there, there's a folder called "music" you can drag and drop that to somewhere on your hard drive and it will copy it. Next, import the folder into your iTunes....You'll have to reformat your iPod and re-upload all the music, but at least you won't lose it.

    Thanks,

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Runtime Library Error message

Am having issues with using Adobe Reader X. Have been getting the Runtime Library Error message box. What do I need to do to resolve this issue?

    Pat,
Thank you for responding. The computer I'm having issues with is a Windows
XP, SP2-SP3 system. It seems that the error message actually connects the
problem to Internet Explorer. I by-passed IE and downloaded Firefox and
Adobe Reader seems to be running fine now through Firefox.

  • C runtime library error message

    Windows Vista User
After upgrading to new iTunes version, this error message appears:
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R5034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
This is followed by the following error screen
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
    Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Twice I have uninstalled and installed iTunes, same result.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • New ipod not syncing to library - error message -69?

Just bought new ipod and it begins to sync with my existing library, but once it gets to the "K"'s it says it can't sync a particular song and then only syncs a tiny fraction of what it was syncing before the error message.
I thought it was a particular problem with the song, so I deleted the song. Then I deleted an entire artist. Then it had the same issue with the next artist in line alphabetically.
    Help!

The message is saying that iTunes can find the file for  "Stuff you need to know part 3" can't be found.  Does (what ever it is, a song? podcast or what) play in iTunes?  Try deleting and redownloading.

  • I have Adobe Illustrator CS5 Runtime C++ Library Error Message

When I open a large Ai file I get an error saying Runtime C++ Library error, how do I fix it? It works with small files but not my large one, this is the only program it has been doing it and just occurred recently within the last week. I have Windows 7 (PC obviously), I've tried uninstalling the programs and re-installing, deleting folders/files and restarting the program and still comes up when I try to open just one file, that's pretty big and don't know what else to do.
    -Amanda

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • Itunes Library error message on Powerbook G4

I have never had this error message pop up. Today I tried to copy some songs from my powerbook to my other mac for a video I was doing, the CD got stuck (doesn't even show up on screen) and I can't eject it AND now my itunes doesn't work saying something like "Itunes library is locked, on a locked disk or you do not have write permission for this file."
I already tried one of the thread recommendations that said to go to library folder take out 2 files library and xml, yadda yadda but that did not work. I did it three times.
Is there something else I can try! HELP. I don't have the money to pay $49 to ask some one this over the phone.

    Hello all.
Below is some information that may assist
    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Now go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features if it is Vista
    3. Uninstall anything called Quicktime made by Apple. If you happen to see Quick Time Alternative you will need to uninstall this as well.
*Even though it may not tell you. I advise a reboot once this is finished. Now proceed to the link below to download the Quicktime Standalone
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Make sure to download the Standalone version. Not the iTunes+Quicktime
Once this is done. Then attempt to launch iTunes. If you continue to get the same message try the following
-Full basic Uninstall of Apple Software
    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Now go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features if it is Vista
*Uninstall in the following order if possible as this will decrease amount of reboots needed
    -Apple Mobile Device Support
    -Apple Software Updates
    -Bonjour
    -Windows iPod Updaters
    -Mobile Me Pref
    -Quicktime
    -iTunes
*Reboot and then download and install iTunes+Quicktime
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If none of those first 2 phases work. Try the last option down below. A little more in depth but this is a full cleanup of all Apple files and folders and programs.

  • Downloading books from library -error message "Adobe error EXC_BAD_ACCESS".

When I download books from the library digital editions crashes with this error message "Adobe error EXC_BAD_ACCESS".  Apple support says it's an Adobe issue.  Any idea how to fix?  BTW when I download from KOBO library I do not receive this error.

When Apple replaced your HD, did they or you, re-install the software that was on your old Drive?
If you made a clone of your old HD and copied it back, you probably brought back all of your old troubles with it!
I suggest that you remove CS2 entirely; then run Disk Warrior to repair all of your Dirctories and then do a fresh installation of CS2 from the original DVD.
Just be sure that you have saved any Actions and other personal Presets somewhere safely before trashing CS2.

  • "Shared library error" message

Does anyone know what this is?
The application "Transport Monitor" could not be launched because of a shared library error:
    8 <Transport Monitor> <Transport Monitor> <HotSyncLib.PPC> "
It appeared on startup after performing an archive and reinstall of Tiger. At the same time, Firefox became completely unstable, and other programs started crashing too. I had an idea that perhaps the computer's files didn't like that I was now at 10.4.4 instead of 10.4.11, so last night I did all my system updates. Everything's now more stable; I haven't run it for long but I've now been in Firefox for almost 15 minutes! Still, the above message appears on startup.

<<sigh>> I ran the Migration Assistant today, and while all my third-party programs came over, my settings and whatnot didn't (e.g. Firefox was the basic program, without all my add-ons, bookmarks, etc.; when I looked in Application Support there was no Firefox support folder; same with Quicken, Palm, etc.). I started fooling around and somehow mucked things up--suddenly the computer was hiccuping, and sometimes the mouse and keyboard stopped working (I could get the cursor to move with the mouse but it wouldn't select or open anything. And I couldn't get my LaCie to show up in the Finder. So now I'm performing an erase/install and will run the upgrades.
The question is, did I do something wrong with Migration assistant? BDA, when you used it, did it transfer your preferences and application support stuff for third party programs? Or did you have to go back and rescue the files? It occurs to me that perhaps the assistant pulled info from another place in the computer. If I go to the Library folder in the Macintosh Hard Drive, Firefox isn't in the Applications Support folder; but if I go to Library in my home folder it's there. Isn't that where the Assistant should be looking?
And another (sillier) question: if I 'migrate' manually, do I just drag and drop the eMac folder onto the new iMac folder if the names are the same (e.g. iTunes, Internet Plugins, etc.)?
Boy, am I glad you guys are here...

  • Consolidate library error message

When I try to consolidate my library, I get an error message...file is invalid or to long. Cand someone please help me with this?
I have seen several posts from people with the same problem but no answers as yet.
    Thanks
    Robin

Here is what another person did, they went through and shortened the really long song names.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=798472&#798472
Good luck! iTunes is really bad about not saying which file is causing the problem. It just stops the entire process instead of skipping over the problem file.
Another thing to try is to put your music folder somewhere else with a shorter name.
The default folder location for the music files is here
    C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
That is a pretty long path.
You could make a new folder on the root C: drive just name it C:Songs. Go into iTunes > Edit > Preferences, then click the Advanced tab at the top of the window and click General. Click the Change button and browse to the new C:Songs folder
....and hope the shorter name lets the consolidate work.

  • Cant Consolidate Library error message

This is the message I get when I try to consolidate my music. Copying music failed. The file name was invalid or to long. The way I tryed to consolidate my library was going threw the advanced option. I have more then enough space on my hard drive. It only consolidated a couple of artist before I got the error message.
Any one know what I can do?
    Thanks for the help
    Joe

What I noticed was, the consolidate function starts copying oldest files first.
I had to monitor the new consolidated folder using Win Explorer and display the "Date Created" column.
For me, it stopped after a Carole King album every time.
Then I had to go back and look at the folder itunes was trying to copy files from, again sorted in Win Explorer by "Date Created" and see what was added to my PC after Carole King. That is how I found the opera album in the compilations folder.
Here is the thread I had started on this problem.

  • Trying to Open PSE 9 and get Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error Message HELP please! :)

Everything worked fine until I paid and downloaded a program called Rad Lab that works in Photoshop Elements.  I got that downloaded and then tried to open PSE and it won't open and I keep getting this error message.
I've attached a screen shot of what the message is.  Also Adobe ran an update on my computer and it came up with an error message as well. Adobe Photoshope Elements 9.0.3. Update- "Patch cannot be applied. Please contact customer support"
So I called customer support and the wait time is over 1 hour so here I am on this forum trying to get some answers! If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much!!!
    Thanks!

Well, uninstall that RadLab thing, reboot and see if PSE then works.

  • A runtime library error messages keeps showing up in firefox.

Almost every time i am logged into firefox this error message pops up and if i have to have an anti virus program to fix the errors I can't because it's not free and i would have to pay lots of monthly membership fees and i can't afford to pay for it.

The user that you want to reach must be registered to use messages on the device before you can reach them. Even if the user has an iPhone and you are sending the text to that phone number, the user still has to have the messages app activated on their device. The iPad cannot send and receive SMS messages so the messages all have to go through the messages app. It is not setup automatically.
In the unlikely event that she blocked you - have her check Settings>Messages>Blocked to see if you appear in there on her device.

  • CS4 library error message

Can anyone help, every time I open Indesign I get an error message stating that three of my Libraries cannot be found Do I want to pospone their recovery.
It does not matter if I press yes or no to recover or delete the files. The only way to get rid of the error window is to press cancel
Note all three libraries are threr and accessable when the window goes.
One thing I note is one of the libraries has an older name - It may be searching for older libraries bit I cant get rid of them by using the Yes/No buttons
I have removed Preferences and Saved Data files but to no avail and deleted and reloaded existing libraries
    Anyone have any suggestions
    Cheers Chris

Hi Thanks for the advice. I reset and removed all custom workspaces but the phantom libraries still appeared.
In frustration when the Missing libraries panel appeared I pressed the NO button (to delete missing librarys) about 30 times the the window finally dissapeared without having to click the cancel button. The window has not reappeared. lets hope it stays that way.
    Thanks for your input anyway
    Cheers
