Library file export from iPod?

I seem to have lost my most recent iTunes library file. I still have all of my music files etc. but the most recent library file that I can find and am now using is from a few months back so a lot of my playlists and recent music additions are no longer there. However, my iPod (60GB Classic) is as I want it. So, is there a way of exporting a library file from it back to iTunes?

Hi Darwinboy,
ilounge.com has an excellent (and recently posted) article on recovering music/playlists, etc... off your ipod back onto your computer.
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/ask-ilounge-7-4-08/
I'm not a tech head, so can't really help out - I can only suggest resources I've used in the past! I notice on ilounge.com it doesn't even mention ipodrip anymore - but looks like there are plenty of sophisticated alternatives.
Good hunting!
Chris

1 - Select  the thumbnail of one of the problem photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  This will take you to the folder containing the original file with that file selected by the Finder.
You can also use Find Any File to search for that file (get the file name from the Info pane in iPhoto). You will find the thumbnail version and maybe an edited version also.  Made sure what is found is the large, original version and note were it's located.  Search all of your drives with FAF just in case.
If you don't fine the full sized version then the only recourse is to use a file recovery application like   SubrosaSoft FileSalvage on your drives to see if any of your full sized photos can be recovered.   If you find enough files to make the purchase of the software worthwhile buy it and recover the files.  However, since it may have been quite a while since you discovered the missing originals it seems unlikely you'll be able to recover any due to being overwritten.
2 - book projects are just entries in the library databases and can't be exported to another library.

  • Aspect ratio issues in iDVD with mov files exported from FCE

Please help. I believe this is an iDVD bug. I have found some relevant discussion of it on online forums - but have not found a solution that works for me. I am looking for a workaround.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1356500&tstart=31
    PROBLEM STATEMENT:
My 4:3 movies, exported from FCE in QT-with-conversion formats (any 4:3 format) - appear in iDVD with gray side-pillars (as expected for 4:3) AND with a black line (letter-boxing) at top and bottom - as would be for 16:9. It appears the aspect ratio is also distorted i.e. 16:9. (The iDVD project is set to 4:3.)
1- A 4:3 mov file exported from FCE using Quicktime Movie format (no conversion) does not have the problem, but I cannot de-interlace the video using this export mode.
    2) A 4:3 mov file exported using QT-with-conversion mode (any 4:3 format) DOES have the problem. I need to use this mode in order to get de-interlace.
(Exception: 640x480 VGA mode does not have the black lines, and it displays correctly in dvd player on my computer screen - but on the TV screen, it crops content from the top and bottom of the movie, so this is not an option.)
    3) In Finder, if you click on mov file exported QT-only (no conversion), it opens in the FCE viewer. If you click on mov file exported in any other 4:3 mode, it opens in Quicktime viewer (i.e. there is absolutely something different in the header/ID of these files.)
    4) All mov files, regardless of export mode, show correctly in Quicktime viewer - no black line, no distortion. The problem does not occur outside of iDvd.
    5) I tried passing the QT-with-conversion mov files through an Inverse-Anamorphicizer (per suggestion on forum - this apparently fixed the problem for some people) but the resulting output mov (i.e. the inverted product) still had the same problem.
I am, so far, left with this trade-off: Give up the de-interlacing, or live with the letter-boxing/ distortion. Neither is acceptable.
I am looking for a workaround:
    1) A way to export de-interlaced 4:3 mov from FCE that shows in correct ratio in iDVD
    2) A way to "convert" / re-head mov file after exported so that it displays corrrectly (inverse-anamorphicize) so that iDVD reads it correctly
    3) Can the mov be de-interlaced after the fact (so I could use QT export without conversion)?
    4) Something besides iDVD to put this together - that doesn't have this problem? (I like and want to use the iDVD menu/theme.)
    5) Other?????
I also notice that all the QT-with-conversion mov files are 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the QT-only mov file, which is valuable and preferable to me. (I don't see any quality difference in the display...)

In the Preview window > top frame > middle button
do you have correct for pixel aspect ratio checked or not?

  • PAL files exported from FCP don't display

This is a strange one... SD PAL uncompressed files exported from FCP 6.03 won't display, you just see black. HD files are fine, as are SD PAL files exported a while ago - prior to a recent pro apps or QT update possibly? As a workaround, if they exported via compressor instead of by 'export quicktime' in FCP, they work fine. Shake is 4.0 since 4.1 doesn't want to display via a decklink.
Any ideas? This seems to be a new one.

  • Can't visualise text on PDF files exported from PS

PDF files exported from PS (levels included as we need them to be selectable) have corrupted text. When opening the saved pdf file, a part of text doesn't appear. It is usually starting from the second chapter of text. Any idea of how to solve this problem?

    Hi Marco,
For now we have only fixed this in CC, but we are aware this problem also affects CS6 users and is a significant problem for many people. At this time, I don't know of any workaround in CS6 for this bug other than to break text up into smaller blocks or use another more text-oriented application like InDesign. While I can't comment on future releases, your feedback on this issue is important to us, and I can say, "there's always hope"...
If you'd like to discuss this further, or send us a file that exhibits the problem, please contact me directly. My email address is my last name @ adobe.com.

  • How to import a *.dmp file (exported from 10g) to 8i database?

    Hi everybody!
Could anybody tell me how to import a *.dmp file (exported from 10g) to 8i database?
I have tried but it seemed to be error "wrong version".
    Thanks a lot!

From 10.1.0 to 8.1.7 => Use the EXPORT 8.1.7 to export the data from the 10.1.0 database and IMPORT 8.1.7 to

How to distinguish between the dmp file export from the data pump utility and the export utility in Oracle 10g and 11g .

Like Werner suggested, it's never hurt to try anyway.
use imp with SHOW=Y, if it works then Original otherwise Data pump.
Once you determined one file, there's good chance that the rest are same. I don't think previous DBA will go through the trouble by mixing data pump and traditional exp/imp.

  • Illustrator error opening eps file exported from sketchup pro 8

When I attempt to use Illustrator CS6 to open an .eps file exported from Google Sketchup Pro 8 I get the following error message "the file is an unknown format and cannot be opened".    If I try to place/link the file I get this message "can't place the illustration. Could not set a position inside the file."  Any thoughts on why I'm having this issue?  Is there an eps version compatibility issue I should be aware of?

Hi Mike.  Here is the screenshot you requested.

  • How do i send an html file exported from muse as email blast with images and live links?

    My question it:
How do i send an html file exported from muse as email blast with images and live links?
I have designed a "website" in adobe muse and exported it as an html file. I am not sure how to send my .html file in an email!
    Best,
    Nicole

Unfortunately, the answer is, you don't. The requirements for HTML displayed in an e-mail reader are very different than those for HTML displayed in a browser. The output of Muse won't work as an HTML e-mail. You could upload the Muse site as a website and provide a link to it in an e-mail, but the HTML generated by Muse is not suitable for direct display by an e-mail program.

  • Lightroom and DxO: fix lens flaws in a TIF file exported from LR

    Hi,
I'm in love with LR, I don't mind if people tell me that other Raw converter do a better job in demosaicing. Anyway some time ago a friend told me about DxO Optics Pro, I tried and loved the lens corrections. I thought I could prform those correction at the end of my workflow on a Tiff file exported from LR to DxO. No way! It seems that DxO doesn't recognize the lens used to shoot the image. It seems that LR and Camera Raw delete all the infos related to optics used. Any help would be appreciated.
    Bye!

I used the following command to swap exif data:
    exiftool -all= -tagsfromfile DSC_0002.NEF -exif:all DSC_0009-2.tif
The TIF file contais less exif tags than the NEF (or DNG) file, and there is no tag about the lens used.

  • Why won't .MOV files export from Lightroom?

Why won't .MOV files export from Lightroom?

    The will.
Or at least they can, and do, sometimes, if you have good MOV karma..
Why not supply a little more info, like:
    * Which OS
    * Which version of Lightroom
    * History of MOV files.
    * Export format.
    * Do other video types export OK
    * How many different MOV files have you tried - all with the same history?
    and of course:
    * What, exactly, happens, when you try?
    Rob.

I am in the midst of trying to figure out the opposite : Flash to After Effects.  I am betting that this is an issue of 'color profile' attached to the images and the gamma settings in that profile.  RGBA is only part of the story - color profile is all the rest of it.  Eye Dropper doesn't tell you the color profile attached to the image.

  • File recovery from ipod to hard drive

I lost files on my hard drive, but still have them on my ipod. Is there a way to restore my hard drive from my ipod?

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.

  • Re-load Library or Tranfer from iPod?

My computer crashed and I had to install a new hard drive and reload all my programs. I have all my songs on my iPod but I don't know how to get them back into my iTunes library. Can someone help me?

There's an answer to your question but first it's time for a little lecture. (If it makes you feel any better, I don't like this any more than you do.)
I hope you take this as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, you will want to include your iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.
Anyways, that's the lecture. The answer to your problem should be found in this post:

    Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method I've seen posted. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.
