Library gives incorrect photo count

My library view shows I have some 3579 photo's while in reality I should have more than 5000. In Itunes it states that I can sync 5534 photo's to my ipod. I discovered that the photo's are still in the library folder and even in albums I have created, however not in the library view I tried all options at rebuilding thumbnales, library etc. no luck. It seems that the ruibuild library' option at start-up does nothing. Any ideas?

Gerlof:
Since iPhoto has lost track of roughly 2000 photos you may have to create a new library and import the Originals folder from the old library. But first try using iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild it library. It copies the necessary files and data from the old library and does not modify the old library. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.
Good luck.
Do you Twango?
P.S. if you have to start over and reimport the Originals folders check out Tutorial #1 as a way to keep the keywords of the files that iPhoto can see.

  • Incorrect Photo Count

I don't have any photos on my iPhone yet iTunes says I have 2 for a total of 12kb. Anyone know why?

    Hi rstark18,
What does the iPhone say? Tap Settings> General> About.
Did you start to sync photos and disconnect the iPhone during the sync?
Make sure iTunes and the iPhone are both updated.

  • Photo count incorrect

Guys I'm having an issue with the photo count on my iOS devices. I'm using photo stream (NO iCloud Photo Library (Beta)!!) on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini retina.
I wanted to clear space after importing the photos to my mac. The photos are now gone from my device (as in camera role on the iPhone & Photo Stream).
But both iPhone and iPad show more than 500 photos in the photos count under General-About. The issue is that under iTunes it is also showing (as on the device) that it is taking up that physical space (several GB). There are no photos in the recently deleted part.
I have to say that I do NOT want to reset the device (reason: corporate apps [good for enterprise] - big issue setting with company). Strangely enough iCloud Photos web shows a Album I can't delete but it is empty.
Does anybody know how to correct this? Please?

  • Where is the photo count in the Library Filter of Lightroom?

    Look at this screenshot.
This is from an online tutorial and is a typical view of the Library Filter. Notice that there are photo counts to the right of each of the search criteria. For example, All (2 Cameras) - 487 photos. Canon EOS 5D - 404 photos, etc.
Now notice a screen shot from my iMac with Lightroom 5.2 on OX 10.9 Mavericks.
Notice that there are no photo counts after the search criteria. WHERE DID THEY GO? Or for that matter, were they ever there in this iteration of LR? I think they were but I'm not sure. Incidentally, I am aware the count will appear in the filmstrip (see the next photo) but that is not nearly as useful.
If anyone can help me get this to work as I suppose it should, please let me know.
    Thanks a bunch,
    Craig

    Thanks Rich.
Would be helpful to all if Adobe would acknowledge such known bugs on their 10.9 Mavericks compatibility page.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/mac-os-mavericks-compatability.html
The white sliders are mentioned but not the missing photo count (which was obviously reported in the beta phase). I'm sure there are more.

I believe you will find you can again sync Photos if you delete the "iPod Photo Cache", but predict that any subsequent attempt will fail.  In my case, the enxt sync removes all the photos again - I've seen other reports of error messages upon sync.  Mine just fails silently. :-)

  • Photo counts in Library Tab of Inspector Pane

I run Aperture 3.1 on a home and work computer. Home runs Snow Leopard. Work runs Leopard. On my home computer there is a photo count shown along the right edge of the library tab across from each Project name. On the work computer, there is none. I have searched every command, menu, FAQ, forum, and friend for an answer and have come up blank. Is this just the difference in OS 10.5 vs. OS 10.6? Does anyone have an idea?

    see Appearance tab in Preference,
There is checkbox show version count in projects and albums.

  • Updating the photo count for multiple locations of the same keyword

Is it possible to use a keyword on a photo but have it update other copies of the same keyword in lightroom 2.4? I would like to have linked keywords if this is possible.
To help understand this better, here is a rough example or what I would like to do.
I want a generic list of players which in its entirety will contain thousands of names. Then I also want to break those players down into their respective teams/leagues that they played on. This will make the list of players easier to manage when I only have to deal with one team at a time. I also want to seperate by seasons but that is too much for this example. So in my example I have a player who has played in both the AHL and NHL (Daniel Briere).
Now when I am going through my Flyers photos, I want to keyword a Briere photo. So I drag over the NHL/Philadelphia Flyers/Briere, Daniel keyword. So this gives that keyword a count of 1. I also would like the Briere keyword under Players get updated with a 1. Right now, it won't. How can I link those two? Also, when I go into my Phantoms photos, I see another picture of Briere, I would want to drag over the Teams/AHL/Philadelphia Phantoms/ Briere, Daniel keyword. This would in return update that keyword with a count of 1 and update the Players/Briere, Daniel keyword with a 2 since I now have a single NHL and a single AHL photo of him. Of course I need this behavior to be hierarchial. So if I have a photo of Briere in street clothes, I would want to use the Players/Briere, Daniel keyword. This would then give me a count of 3 but it won't updated the values in NHL and AHL keywords since the Players keyword is in a higher/different location.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks,
    Bob
P.S. If I made this too confusing, please let me know and I'll try to explain better.
example of what my keyword list would look like:
    Players
        Briere, Daniel
    Teams
        NHL
            Philadelphia Flyers
                Briere, Daniel
        AHL
            Philadelphia Phantoms
                Briere, Daniel

You cannot link keywords as you want. Each of those keywords is independent - they just share the same text.
You can create smart collections which group all occurrences of that name. This is obviously duplication, so you would do it only when you need.
I suggest you don't try to get too clever with using your keyword hierarchy to represent teams. Instead, use one keyword per individual person, a separate one for each team. You could have a top level keyword teams, and another for people, but don't structure things as you suggest as it leads to confusion about people. When you need to look at one team, use a smart collection that looks for images with Team X, Shot in year Y - the Library Filter  will then break the items down by keyword.

  • Different photo count

    Hi all,
    I discovered a strange issue:
If I click on "Photos" under "Aperture 3 Library" which should give me all existing pictures, I get a photo count of 6079 pictures.
If I mark ALL my projects, which should also give me all existing pictures, I get a photo count of 5556 pictures.
So, where did the other 523 pictures go????
    Any ideas?
    Johannes

none, I already deleted all rejected photos.
But I just figured out the difference:
Until AP3 I managed my MobileMe Albums with Aperture, but due to huge problems with MobileMe and AP3 I exported all pics to jpegs, imported them into iPhoto and started to manage the online-albums with iPhoto. If I count all pictures on MobileMe, there are 523 pics online. Exactly the difference I see between "Photos" and the sum of all pics inside the projects. So it seems that AP kept references or copies to the old MobileMe pictures in its database. Would be fine if there were any possibility to delete these, but at least I do not have to be concerned that there is any database issue.
    Thanks and regards
    Johannes

  • Folders photo count

LR 4.2 on Mac OS 10.7.5 - "Folders"  indicates a zero value for photo count of all top  level folder (i.e. LR4/Year/  Month) but gives accurate  count for the last level /Day. How can I fix this?

  • N8 start photo count @3000

    Hi
I am new to this forum and I was wondering if there is a way to reset the the photo count to start at 3,000.
For example photo 000001.jpg would be 0003001.jpg and count up from there.
Or maybe an app that might do this.
    Thanks!

  • Weird Photo Count...

I just downloaded a compact flash card into my computer and edited some of the images. When I attempted to burn the photos to a DVD by clicking the key photo and using the Share ===>Burn command I got a Disk Is Full message along with a new photo count of 454. I assume that this increase in images is due to duplicates made in the process of doing the rough edits? In an attempt to reduce the number of photos to fit available space on the DVD I next clicked on images near the end of the roll while holding down the command key. While the images were deselected as I did this the photo count remained at 454 and the Disk Is Full error message remained unchanged. Next I deselected all the images and began hand selecting images using the shift key. When I had reached the end of the roll with all images selected there was still plenty of disk space remaining on the DVD. Clearly there is something going on behind the scenes here of which I am unaware. Anybody know what it is?
    Thanks,
    Win

When you use the Share->Burn menu option you are burning a mini library to the disc. That mini library will be larger than just the size of the photos alone as it will include the original, thumbnail, modified versions along with the various database files in the library. This screenshot is of one of those libraries burned with an older version of iPhoto.
If you want burn just the edited version of the photos select them and use the File->Export->File Export menu option. Select format = JPEG, Quality high or max, size=full and export to a folder on the Desktop. Then burn that folder to the disc. You can check the size of that folder before burning to disc in the Finder.

  • Photo count discrepancy

The Photo count is much higher on my phone under the about section of my phone than it is when I go into my photo section on my phone by close to 900 photos so under my settings about phone it shows how many photos I have on my phone there when I go into photos under the app on my phone it shows that I have about 870 less than her on my phone.
    Why the discrepancy ???

Are you able to view all 3 of those photos in the full size mode?
One thing you can try is Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #1, Repair Permissions, followed by Option #4,  Repair Database, if needed.

  • Incorrect photos in iPhoto trash

Don’t know if this is the correct forum. I can’t find a specific forum for iPhoto 5.
iPhoto 5 is being used for a particular library for compatibility with another user who is limited to this version of iPhoto (PPC, G5, OS 10.5).
The problem is that the iPhoto trash contains numerous photos that should not be there. Most of the photos in the trash are actually duplicated in the main iPhoto Library and albums. Some of the photos in the trash are not in the Library but should be. I don’t know how this occurred. It was not done deliberately.
This iPhoto library is being used as a container for photos used in a Final Cut Express project. When I did empty the iPhoto trash, FCE complained that certain files were offline, probably those that were in the trash but not in the top level of the Library. Fortunately, I have a current backup, but I am still back to “Square One”.
How do I fix this problem of iPhoto trash containing incorrect photos so I can empty the trash without an adverse effect upon the FCE project using these photos?

Hi Larry, thanks for the response.
    LarryHN wrote:
In all versions of iPhoto it is critical that no changes of any sort be made to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using any program except iPhoto.
              Yes, I'm aware of that.
Is there any chance that FCE was used to make any modifications to the iPhoto library?
It is my belief that FCE does not interact with iPhoto. When dragging a photo from the iPhoto window to FCE, it simply creates a pointer to the location in the Finder where that photo resides. If something happens to that photo such as moving it or deleting it, FCE will complain with an "Offline" message. Possibly someone else could confirm that.
In the iPhoto library is the preference to copy imported items to the iPhoto library checked?
Not sure. I'll have to boot into OS 10.6 to check since iPhoto 5 won't run in Mountain Lion. I'll report on that later, but I don't think that will be an issue. I have been using this iPhoto library for more than a year, working on a large project.
The general answer is to restore your backup, select the photos you want in FCE and export to a desktop folder for use by FCE (or any other program)
    LN
This would be a monumental task, something I was trying to avoid. I have been using iPhoto libraries (and iMovie projects) as containers for FCE projects for more than a dozen videos and never had this problem before.
There is something wrong with the iPhoto trash with this particular iPhoto library and I was hoping that someone might know what could have caused it and possibly suggested a fix.
