Library has 12 more songs than Ipod

I have 6095 songs in my PC. All are checked for transfer but I only have 6083 in the IPOD.
How can I find out which 12 songs are not getting transferred?
Thanks

How can I find out which 12 songs are not getting transferred?
Well, that's where it gets tricky. I had this problem but with 1 song. In a library of a few thousand, finding one difference ain't easy.
Here's what I did to find it:
1. Export the library as a text file. Call it library.txt.
2. Plug in the iPod, then export the iPod library as a text file. Call it iPod.txt.
3. Rename both of those files to be CSV extensions. So now you have library.csv and iPod.csv.
4. You'll find that they will both be openable by your favorite spreadsheet program, such as Excel or whatever.
5. In those spreadsheets, remove all the columns except for the song name. Sort each column alphabetically. Then put them side by side in the same spreadsheet (copy/paste the whole column). They should match, but you know they don't. So scroll down through them until you see where the mismatch is. It's a heck of a lot easier to see when they're side by side like this.
Once you find what songs are the problem, then finding what the problem is with that album is a bit harder.
One common reason that tracks aren't transferred to the iPod (with no error message) is that they are not songs. Video files, PDF booklets, these can be in your iTunes library when you purchase certain albums from the iTunes Music store, but they don't transfer to the iPod, because the iPod is incapable of playing them.
Another reason that's not so obvious is a mislabeled MP3 file. If you find an MP3 is not being transferred, do a Get Info on it, and look at the first tab. Beside the Type:, it should read "MPEG 1 Layer III". If it says Layer II (layer 2) instead, then your MP3 has been misnamed! It's really an MP2 file. iTunes can play MP2 files just fine, but the iPod can't. You should remove this file in this case and rerip the song from the CD.
Anyway, once you figure out what tracks are not transferred, you're one step closer to solving it.

  • My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?

My Library has ten more songs than my iPod. How can I find out which songs are not syncing?
I recently had to purchase a new hard drive. Because the size of my music collection exceeds 140 GB, I stored all of my music on a separate external hard drive. When I exported everything back into my new iTunes library, I found that I had about 200 more songs than I had in the previous library. After deleting most of those extraneous songs, I was able to get my library close to where it was before. However, after syncing to my iPod Classic, I noticed that only 34,853 of the 34,863 loaded. How can I figure out which of those ten songs in my library did not sync to my iPod?

It may be that the 10 songs are unchecked. To find them select songs view.
If there is a column Heading marked with a tick then click on it to sort by this column.
If the Column is not there then View > View Options and select the Checked column which will then display
Check the songs by putting ticks in the empty boxes and resynch. Now those tracks should go over as well

  • HT201210 My Music library is showing more songs than I actually have? How do I fix this?

My actual music library on my phone is showing 100+ more songs than I actually have. But on my computer it's showing a completely different (less) number? Should I restore?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold.

My itunes library has more songs than my ipod will hold. What is the best way for me to choose what actually goes on the ipod?

Or, when you are synching choose the songs you want on the IPod by checking them in the library, then tell it to only synch checked items.
To be honest, the 'smart playlist' is probably a simpler way though. Go to playlists, click 'create new smart playlist' and choose your parameters from there. As you add new music to the library the playlist will update itself.

  • ITunes Match indicates more songs than Library

Updating iTunes Match says "2821 songs are now available in iCloud", however, my library says 2820.  This occurs w/ 3 separate computers (Win7 desktop and laptop, and a MacBook Air running OS X Lion) all synced to the same iTunes Match account.  I know it's only a variance of 1 track, but has anyone else run into something similar?  Any way to manage just the music in iCloud?

iTunes Match if only matched with a single library can only contain upto the number of Songs in that single library - clearly if it has access to more than one library it is soon going to contain more Songs than any individual library.

  • I have more songs than I can put on Ipod.  How can I un-click all songs in an album without doing each singly, to reduce space? Thanks

I have more songs than I can put on Ipod. Will unclick some songs but one at a time is taking forever. How can I un-click all songs in an album without doing each singly, to reduce space needed on iPod? Thanks

Why not try syncing a smart playlist that updates automatically every time you sync your iPod?
    Try something like this:
    1. Pull down File > New Smart Playlist;
    2. Playlist IS Music; click the plus button;
    3. Last Played IS NOT in the last 90 days;
    4. Select the option to Limit to xxx items selected by Random and click OK.
Name the playlist that is created something distinctive then sync you iPod with that. It will automatically update based on the last played dates of a tune and you'll always have fresh content on your iPod. Modify the playlist as needed to make it give you the results you want.

  • How to add new songs to ipod shuffle from different computer with different itune library without change old songs on ipod?

    Hello,
I am using ipod shuffle. Now it's having some songs.these songs was synchronised with my old desktop itune library. Now i changed to laptop and downloaded latest itune software. Now i need to add more songs to ipod without change old songs on ipod. How it's possible? Please help.

The way iTunes and iPods are designed is not compatible with what you want to do. The best approach would be to open iTunes on your old desktop, and make a backup of your iTunes library, from which you can copy across all the songs from your old library onto your new laptop - not just the ones that were synced to the shuffle. One place to start for instructions on how to do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1364
The other approach is to search online for a utility that will copy songs off an iPod without syncing it, add those songs to your new library, and then erase-and-sync the Shuffle. This way, you only get to save whatever was synced to the Shuffle at the last sync.

  • Error in sql query as "loop has run more times than expected (Loop Counter went negative)"

    Hello,
When I run the query as below
    DECLARE @LoopCount int
SET @LoopCount = (SELECT Count(*) FROM KC_PaymentTransactionIDConversion with (nolock) Where KC_Transaction_ID is NULL and TransactionYear is NOT NULL)
    WHILE (
        SELECT Count(*)
        FROM KC_PaymentTransactionIDConversion with (nolock)
        Where KC_Transaction_ID is NULL
        and TransactionYear is NOT NULL
    ) > 0
    BEGIN
        IF @LoopCount < 0
RAISERROR ('Issue with data in KC_PaymentTransactionIDConversion, loop has run more times than expected (Loop Counter went negative).', -- Message text.
                   16, -- Severity.
                   1 -- State.
    SET @LoopCount = @LoopCount - 1
    end
I am getting error as "loop has run more times than expected (Loop Counter went negative)"
Could any one help on this issue ASAP.
    Thanks ,
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
According to your code above, the error message make sense. Because once the value returned by “SELECT Count(*)  FROM KC_PaymentTransactionIDConversion with (nolock) Where KC_Transaction_ID is NULL and TransactionYear is NOT NULL” is bigger than 0,
then decrease @LoopCount. Without changing the table data, the returned value always bigger than 0, always decrease @LoopCount until it's negative and raise the error.
To fix this issue with the current information, we should make the following modification:
    Change the code
    WHILE (
    SELECT Count(*)
    FROM KC_PaymentTransactionIDConversion with (nolock)
    Where KC_Transaction_ID is NULL
    and TransactionYear is NOT NULL
    ) > 0
    To
    WHILE @LoopCount > 0
Besides, since the current query is senseless, please modify the query based on your requirement.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

How to add extra options for style of images in pages.   iPad version has far more options than Mac version

Thank you, you made me go look again and I realised the ones I use on the iPad are under Borders not style and they are on Mac also.  I feel a bit silly but I wouldn't have got there without your prompting.  Do you mean by "create your own"  using the borders and then saving as a style or can you create something that is not in either?
    Thanks again

  • More songs on ipod than in iTunes library?

I'm sure this has been answered before but having searched the forum I cannot find an answer.
Is there an easy way of establishing the extra tracks?
    Thanks

I always kept my entire library on my iPod but recently swapped computers. I still don't understand why the iPod should have more tracks though!?!
    Can anyone explain?

  • I have more songs than can fit on my ipod.  How do I add the most recent when I sync?

I suppose sometime I will have to get a bigger IPOD, but I still love hwat I have but like to mix up the music.  I now have too many songs on my computer to load on my IPOD.  Is there any way to automatically load the most recently added tunes when I sync or do I have to manually deselect tunes I don't want to load?

    Hello sifishman,
Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel on this one or explain it myself, have a look at this Apple support document.  Should be able to answer your question.

  • How to have more songs on iPod than on laptop?

My iBook has 27GB, my iPod 40GB. I want to keep basically all music on the iPod and as little as possible on the laptop. E.g., import my CD's into Itunes, dump into iPod, and delete from iTunes thereafter. How can I do this?
I selected "manually manage music" in the summary tab for the iPod, but that just made it crash, and when I deleted files from Itunes, it still deleted them from the iPod. How does one, in fact, manually manage music on this thing? Oh, it's a white ipod 40GB, bout 2 years old.

Manually manage is want you want. Sync selected playlist mode might work also.
What crashed, iTunes, computer, or iPod?

  • My iPhone states it has more songs than it should

    Iphone 4Gs - 16GB latest IOS6
    Itunes 11.01 (12) on Imac running 10.8.2
Everytime i sync Itunes seems to add all my 'purchased' songs to the Iphone which i do not want it to do. Its not 'checked' on the Imac itunes to do so.
I sync a playlist called top 1000 to sync based on the top 1000 most played songs.
My phone and Itunes states there a 1178 songs on the iphone. where are the 178 extra songs and how can i stop them being on the phone.
I have checked what they are and they are all songs i have bought via the phone on itunes but are not on my top 1000 playlist. how can i delete them from my phone. they are already on my imac so i don't need them there.
    any advice appreciated. Thanks

Take a deep breath.  Bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.
