Library not seeing songs I know are there

I had to wipe out external HD (i.e. reformat as Mac only) and then I put the iTunes Music folder back on it, but that I don't believe that should make a difference.... All the music is there, and the Preferences>Advanced shows that as the location for the music folder, yet there are thousands of songs with the exclamation mark beside them (indicating that the database or whatever isn't fully connecting with the folder where the actual music is). When I double-click on any of those songs with exclamation marks, I can navigate to where the song is (in the iTunes Music folder on the external HD) and away she goes! There are thousands of songs with exclamation marks beside them. What can I do to sync the Library with the music folder?

In 19.0.2 I can't see cookies I know are there in cookies window I always keep open; why not?

I keep the tools->options->show_cookies window open whenever Firefox is running. I want to see which sites are dropping cookies and I manage them aggressively, since many sites ignore "do not track." Also, sites like nytimes.com drop cookies that count articles read. I delete such counter cookies to thwart their gatekeeping efforts. Anyway, why I do this is not relevant to my question other than to depict the technique I use. After upgrade to 19.0.2 the cookies window no longer shows any cookies. I know they are there since I can still delete them in tools->clear_recent_history. Proof of this: I login to google/finance and can see personal portfolio info. When I clear_recent_history->cookies my google/finance session refreshes to the generic site, sans all personal info. I want to see cookie activity in real-time as I could before this upgrade. What changed; why; and how do I reestablish my window into cookie activity?

Thanks but no thanks. I don't want another add-on. Firefox is already a memory hog without making its memory footprint even bigger. I want to use built-in Firefox features to see cookies in real-time as I could before 19.0.2. This looks and smells to me like Firefox changed the name of the active cookie file so that the show_cookies option and the clear-recent-history function are not looking at the same disk filenames. Something changed and tools->options->show_cookies no longer works.

I am using spotlight to find items on my Mac, on most searches it comes up empty even when I know the subject I am looking for is there.

Check Finder preferences, Advanced, to see that searches are for yoour "Mac" as opposed to "current folder" or "previous search scope".
You need to spell what you are looking for exactly.
Make sure the desired drives are not in the Privacy settings for Spotlight system preferences.
Also try using the Finder's Find (command-F). It also uses spotlight but allows more specific kinds of searches (e.g., search for just a filename as opposed to the normal spotlight search which seaches filenames and file contents).
You might find using a utility like Find any File more convenient and easier to use to qualify searches.

iPhoto used to support the PCD format up to a few years ago. It's extremely frustrating that Apple decided to no longer support this format and now I'm directed to pay nearly $40 for an app that will (GraphicConverter 9). Did Lemke Software make a deal with Apple so we'd have to pay a premium for a very overpriced converter? And, how are decisions like this supposed to encourage the use of iPhoto?
Apple users already pay a premium to use a Mac. Obstacles like these eventually destroy loyalty to the Apple brand. Just ask Microsoft how their back room deals that exploited their customer base worked out for them.

What happens when you open a new tab for instance use Keyboard shortcut Ctrl +T does that open a new tab that you can see. Please attach a screenshot of your ordinary Firefox page e.g. open on this forum. And a screenshot of the Group Your tabs view.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

MacBook Pro / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better. Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG. However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success. So here's what I did:
1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
5. Go back to the Get Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!

Hummmm, you might not be missing anything... From what I understand, really the only new visible add-on apps type programs are Newstand and Reminders. The Notification Center seems to be about how your info and alerts are pushed to your screen and you control that thru the phone settings>General>Notifications, the panel is accessed by swiping downward from the top of your screen. Weird I know, should be more obvious. Enjoy!
Don't forget, you can now use the volume button on the side of your phone to take photos. I really like this!

The built in BT profiles that iOS has do not include any kind of file sharing. Does the app say that it will text over BT? If so, then the connection would most likely be handled through the app itself. What is the name of this app?

Ok, so, what I had done before I saw your response is follow the prompts to activate "match" on this computer... So when I restarted my computer just now, I see a copy of what is on my iphone, which brings up another question that has had me confused for so long.. Between the cloud and match, shouldnt whatever I have on my computer be automatically put onto my iphone? As this does not happen. I think you have to attach the iphone to the computer in order to update, but whenever I do that, it doesnt do this. So, I dont have anything I did for bascially all of 2013 which is a lot... I never worried too much about it as I listen to most of my music from the computer and from my ipod, and dont worry about the music on my iphone. But I am so confused about how to reconcile all my songs, albums, playlists on all my devices..
Another thing that seems to be the root of all things annoying is regarding my apple id.. When I first chose my user name back in the day, it was simple.. You chose what you wanted.. Recently, when I wanted to try to get into this "cloud" thing, I was asked to choose another apple id that was in the format of an e-mail address. Which has caused so much confusion for me of which I can not figure out.. I have things purchased on both accounts and just wish I could have all my purchases together on all my devices..

Mac won't see some files/folders on external hard drive that i know are there, pc sees them fine..

I have formatted the drive to exFAT and copied folders I knew were missing and they won't read that way either... What had happened was that I had songs that were on my computer in Itunes, my daughter had moved some files around on her computer, and then we ended up losing the songs in itunes. The songs were still on the ipod itself, but once i plugged it in to the pc, they were lost. Final outcome = songs lost, I'm SOL. thanks anyways. I should have been more clear in my descriotion, but im not very savvy with computers. chaliking this one up to experience.
