Library object transparency issue

Hey Guys,
i have a question.
I have several Logos in my Library in InDesign CC 2015. All Logos are transparent. But when i place one Logo into my document, the Logo-Background is completely White, but on the color the program shows me it has no background color. Also when i export the Document with the Logo, the background is white.
When i place the Logos into an illustrator Document, it shows me, that its normally transparent. Restart won't work, also Mac-restart is not working.
So all Logos are not transparent on InDesign in my Library when i place it into my document, but they are it.

When you place the logo, make sure you show the Import Options and choose Transparent Background. Also be sure you take a look at InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Eliminating the White Box Effect

  • How do you make the background of an object transparent in Adobe Illustrator?

    Hello Forum.
    How do you make the background of an object transparent in Adobe Illustrator?
    I have been having issues with using the Magic Wand tool in Adobe Illustrator as well as the lasso tool.
    Basically, I am trying to put a small graphic into a new Illustrator file.
    The first thing I tried to do is to use the magic wand tool.  But I found out that this did not work on a jpeg image since it did not have any individual objects to select.
    So I tried something new.  I opened the file in Adobe Photoshop and used the lasso tool to select an area.  Then I coped this area.  Then I tried to paste it into Adobe Illustrator.  But the background was not transparent for the pasted image.
    How do I make the background transparent.
    I made this small video to show what I am talking about:

    Don't Copy/Paste the image.
    Make it transparent in Photoshop, save a PSD and place it in Illustrator

  • InDesign CS2-generated PDF & feather effect/transparency issues

    I am at my wit's end. I received a client's PDF file created to my specs (same ones we've used for 5 years). I am having massive flattened transparency issues. I am currently using Trueflow version 3, a rip which does not support live transparency; therefore, my distiller settings require that transparency be flattened. There are some horrible results that I can't rectify on my end. There is stitching showing (and outputting to the plate!) where she has placed .psd files on some pages. There is also a problem with feathered objects (which are linked photos) - they look just fine in the document but when exported and flattened, there is a white box behind the pictures instead of the soft feathered look.
    When I exported her CS2 file using Acrobat 5 instead of 4, the effect is fine, but - my rip kicks it out. When I export to my specs, the PDF has the above print issues --
    I want to clarify that I always view print ready PDF files using output and overprint preview -- this is not a preview issue -- it is a definite file & export & resulting print issue.
    I would love to be able to assist my client -- this is a rush job. If anyone has encountered this and has a feeling what may be causing it, please let me know -
    Also - I do not have any software to correct this issue -
    Thanks in advance -

    Peter -- I am looking over those articles now. Here is the problem -- we do not print from the application
    File > Print, and under Output, choose Composite CMYK, and CHECK the “Simulate Overprint” checkbox. Under Advanced, select your all-raster flattener.
    I do not have her entire document -- only a couple of the problem children.
    I suppose a workaround would be to (if I had her files) see if I could print as a postscript and distill it to a PDF -- or print to a postscript and send that into Trueflow to see if it will accept it --
    However, I did receive a warning that by creating that high res setting with the slider all the way to the left, it would rasterize the whole page --
    Now, I can already do that in just one step by opening the PDF in photoshop at a very high resolution and flattening it --
    I simply hate having to go that route when we have type on the page too -- I think my issue is a lack of proper equipment -- we don't like to rasterize if we can help it -
    Since this job is a rush, I may have no choice but to do that on those pages -
    That info is helpful but in reality is a longer way of accomplishing the same thing --

  • Can Anyone help with an Illustrator transparency issue?

    I created a logo in Illustrator which includes an imported Photoshop psd file with a transparent background. The transparency behaves properly in Illustrator, but as soon as I place it in In Design or open it in photoshop the graphic shows up on a white box/background (the rest of the elements in the logo remain transparent, as they should be). And btw-the greyscale version of this same logo has no transparency issues.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    it is part of an entire suite of logos that are all vector based Illustrator files
    No, it is not. It contains a raster image, so it is not "all vector" regardless of its being assembled in Illustrator.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    The EPS file will not handle transparency.
    EPS supports "transparency" in 1-bit raster objects. It also supports clipping paths, which is how this particular logo would have been handled in earlier times (assuming one insists on the simple grads being raster).
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    What kind of file do you save and place in ID - should be an AI - is it?
    InD doesn't really import AI content. It only imports PDF content of an .ai file (if any).
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    I'm on a time crunch
    Take Scott's earlier advice. Especially given that you are compiling a collection of (presumably) reuseable logo files, this should be re-created as entirely vector content. That mark should take no more than a few minutes to redraw. Simply by including the raster element (which is primary element, by the way), you are obviating the core advantage of vector artwork (resolution independence) to begin with. So if you insist on that element being raster, then the whole thing might as well be, and your workflow is needlessly convoluted.

  • Hide a library object from all but selected users

    Perhaps I just missed this in the documentation, but is there a way to hide
    a library object from all but selected users who will have access to the
    docs in that library. I know I can uncheck access rights and assign them
    only for selected users who can access the documents, but I would like to
    hide the ibrary object as well, best that only those who have access even
    know the library exisits in this case. Thanks.

    How do you give this support? This is a real issue with us as we
    generate information that affects the price and "tradeability" of public
    companies.
    If it's only moral support -- you got it.
    If you have to "vote" on these issues -- how?

  • Library Linking/Updating Issue

    I am currently editing a webpage that I downloaded off the webserver. The files are stored in S:/site. When I click on a library item, say the top header,the properties window lists the source as /library/topheader.lbi. The page code also begins "<!-- #BeginLibraryItem "/library/topheader.lbi" -->". S:/site/library/topheader exists, but clicking "open" in the properties window does nothing. If I right click on the top header and choose Open Library Item, I get the message "The file has no extension and will be opened in code view..." followed by "Access to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5\Configuration\Menus\MM was denied". When I open Code Navigator and click on top header, I get the message "S:\library\topheader.lbi. The same message appears if I choose recreate. I cannot understand why it is looking for the library file in the above directory. The library files appear under Assets with full paths "/library/name.lbi" and can be opened from there just fine, but any changes I make are not updated on pages. Is there anyway to solve this issue? I attempted to fix the problem by moving the library folder to the S:\ directory, but since this was not the root, all of the links were invalid. I have also recreated the site cache several times. From what I understand, the default folder is Library with a capital L. I have renamed the library folder accordingly and also updated the code in one of the pages, but this did not help. At this point, I am stuck. I'd prefer not to manually update 3-4 libraries on 50+ pages. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    The problem is that the libraries aren't updating. If I try to open the
    library object from within the page, it seems to point to directory above
    the root, where there are no  libraries.
    Then that suggests the original site definition was improperly configured.  What does the link in the file containing the Library item look like again - is this it?
    <!-- #BeginLibraryItem "/library/topheader.lbi" -->
    That looks right, except that it should be a capital "L" in "Library".  And you're sure that the library folder is at the root level of your site?
    From what I
    understand, I would have to rename all the pages to .shtml, then replace the
    library section with the include line. I imagine I can do some kind of batch
    file rename and find and replace operation?
    Yes, that's correct.

  • Transparency Issues with PSD files in FCP 7

    I'm having some weird file layer transparency issues with FCP 7. I'm working on a project that's made up entirely of graphics drawn in Photoshop CS5. They Photoshop settings were done to match an HDTV 1080i (16:9) sequence in FCP. In FCP, the pixels were set to square, field dominance to none, frame rate to 29.97 and compressor is Apple ProRes 422.
    I exported my PSD files out of Photoshop, with each layer being exported to its own file. In general, things were fine, but there were a few files where you could see the outline of the character against the background, but mind you that this is only visible once the video is rendered out in the FCP timeline. Nothing is visible in Photoshop, nor is it visible while viewing from the Browser in FCP. I told this to the artist and he went back and made corrections, making sure everything was on a transparent background, but the result was still the same - once I rendered the graphics out in FCP, these edge lines were visible.
    I then went back into Photoshop, opened all the files that were giving me trouble, clicked on the "foreground color" and changed it to a color other than white, then back to white and hit ok. That seemed to work - even when rendered out, I was getting no artifacts, until I tried enlarging the graphics over 100%.
    Also, with some of the same graphics, I was trying to layer them so that a guy was in the foreground with other people and a van behind him in the background. Once again, no problem in Photoshop, but once brought into FCP, the background people were actually being displayed over the main foreground character.
    I'm pretty baffled - what to do? I'll attach a photo of the weird lines around the characters. It might be hard to see at this size, but if you download and enlarge it to 300% or so, you'll see what I mean.

    Just saw that Adam's original post was an older one.  Will keep this here anyway to maybe help the most recent poster.
    Sharon
    Adam, did you try what David said about pointing to the root folder?  Did that work?
    When I copy the SD card, I name a new folder on my hard drive something specific, like Smith Wedding.  Then I copy everything inside the SD card to that new folder.  The first level inside my new folder now has folders for
    AVF_INFO
    PRIVATE
    and on down from there.  When you open Log and Transfer, point it to the Smith Wedding folder (of course whatever you have named yours).
    ClipWrap2 also works great to convert the files beforehand if you want.
    What camera are you using?  I have the Sony NX30 and it was giving me fits because the .mts files don't ingest if the clips are longer than 11 min. My problem is that I'm still on FCP 6.0.6.  I think 7.0.3 fixed that.  But I did find enough work-arounds to keep the camera.

  • Indesign CS4 to PDF 1.3 transparency issue

    We submitted an ad to the local newspaper that we created in Indesign CS4 and Acrobat 9. The ad was exported as a press-quality Acrobat 4 PDF.
    It is a fairly simple layout, with type and a logo.
    The headline and logo have a drop shadow applied with multiply blend mode. All colors are CMYK.
    When the ad prints, the headline and logo have 1% black-filled boxes around them.
    I know this is a transparency issue. However, we've done the same ad in Indesign CS3 and Acrobat 8 with no problems as long as we were CMYK and Acrobat 4.
    Has something changed in CS4 that I don't know about? Could it be the multiply blend mode rather than normal?
    Problem is, the newspaper can't give me a proof -- we have to wait and see what happens when they print. I can't simulate the problem on my end. The ad prints perfectly on my HP5000N in b/w and on my Phaser 8560 in color.
    One workaround suggested was to export the file as a JPG or EPS and save as a Photoshop PDF. We did that on one ad that will run Monday, so we'll see. However, that makes the files with photos enormous -- like from 4 mb to 26 mb.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We're in the middle of an ad campaign and we're resorted to the old-fashioned manual drop shadow out of desperation!
    mev

    Has something changed in CS4 that I don't know about? Could it be the multiply blend mode rather than normal?
    Something did change. In some cases (maybe all), the flattener in CS4 will put the shadow behind the background rather than in front. In both cases, though, using a RIP and/or viewer which is set to honor overprints will avoid the problem, and allow the artwork to render correctly.
    You say that all colors are CMYK. Are you absolutely certain that the background (whatever the rectangular shadow-containing "boxes" knock out) is not a spot color? Your problem description would be more easily explicable if it were.

    This in itself suggests that these folks do not know what they are doing (though I know that's not terribly helpful to you if you need to advertise with them). I must say that given current economic realities in the newspaper business, it's hard to image a paper refusing to cooperate with a paying advertiser - especially one who has been previously bitten - if not by the newspaper's own incompetence, at least by their unwillingness/inability to provide a proof.

  • How to restore standard library object

    Dear All,
    We have a standard library object 1VK(Absorption costing) deleted from one of our client in Development system.  Please suggest how do we restore this standard library back once again into that client.
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Hello Markus,
    The standard Library 1VK (Cost Centers: Absorption Costing)  which is used in report creations usually done by FI consultants has been deleted in one of our Dev client. We were able to trace out the user. Now we want this std library 1vk to be imported or retrieved once again in the same Dev client.

  • Can I create template-based library objects in Dreamweaver CS5?

    At work we need two 'streams' of template. The first are general layout templates, like the ones already available in the MX through CS5 packages (except we'd have our own customised ones). The second are more granular objects, some of which are functional.
    In both cases, I don't want Jimmy to be able to wreak havoc inside anything other than the 'editable regions' which make up the templates.
    Now this is fine if I stick with the first scenario (layout templates) where there's simply a big chunk of editable region for good ole Jim to sprawl into, think of this as the 'body content' area. But I really do need these granular library (or snippet) objects to work in the same way. Unfortunately with my attempts so far they don't work as I'd have thought - perhaps for good reason?
    When I create a blank template and throw in my chunk of HTML (unobstrusive JS and external CSS use selectors in this HTML to provide style and function) and save it as a new library item or snippet, all looks well. Then I create a new document based on a layout template and save it as a plain html file (still all good so far). Next I drop in my custom library item... still all good... but then I go to save the document and it only allows me to save it as a new template! I expected it would just allow me to save it as HTML and have it simply respect the defined editable regions, as happens in the containing page 'body content' editable region.
    Apologies if that got specific and technical quite quickly, but it is quite particular. If you want some example files lemme know and I'll zip some up.
    Many thanks
    p.s It is not a requirement that my library objects must somehow inject their dependency files into the newly created page - I already know what they'll be. Also, I know I must 'detatch from original' once I drop a library item into a document which then allows customisation of the library object.

    Unfortunately that leads me to the same place, I suppose another way of saying my question which may clear the matter up, is: "Can I embed mutually exclusive templates inside templates?"
    For those of you who like things explained conceptually in XML structures, or you're an Adobe developer and you think this isn't currently possible but is awesome, the basic premise is this:
    <page template>
         <noneditable region />
         <editable region>
              Jimmy's text blah blah lorem ipsum.
              <widget template>
                   <editable region>
                        Jimmy's widget customised title
                   </editable region>
                   <noneditable region />
                   <editable region>
                        Jimmy's widget customised feedback
                   </editable region>
              </widget template>
         </editable region>
         <noneditable region />
    </page template>
    Where '<page template />' is stored as a Template (a layout template), and '<widget template>' is stored in either the Library, or as a Snippet.
    cheers,

  • Flash8 or Flash CS3 determine what frames and objects use a given library object

    I am doing cleanup on a FLA file(a large fla file). I am
    looking for an easy way to determine where each library item
    may be used in the given flash document and at what frame and
    layer it may be used at.
    Yes I have updated the use counts by selecting "update use
    counts". Which is really nice. Becuase I can then
    easily delete all the unneeded objects(note: I was also
    guaranteed they(library items) were not called into the FLA file
    dynamically by action script, Which was a relief).
    So what I am looking for is a way to run a report for one
    object or for the entire library to show me where
    a given symbol, button,swf, flv or picture is being used in
    the parent or it's chidren or in another library item.
    Here is an example of the report I am looking for.
    Library Item "logo.jpg":
    ocurrence #1> _root;layer8,frame 25
    ocurrence #2> _root;layer(showlogo),frame 25(imageframe)
    ocurrence #3> _root;layer(showfinishpage),frame
    125(exitpage)
    occurence #4> LIBRARYITEM(logoTween),frame23,layer2
    Does anyone know how this can be done...?

    I don't know of any report, other than Generate size report
    (found in publish settings under Flash), but you could probably
    write a .jsfl script to do it for you I imagine.

  • Cp4: Paste identical background as separate library object

    I need to paste an identical image as the background to several slides.
    It's important that the background image for each slide is a separate library object so I can do further edits without affecting the other slides.
    The first time I paste all is wll. However, from then on Cp somehow recognises that it's the same content and instead reuses the background image from the first time I pasted.
    I'm sure someone spent a lot of time coding it to work that way. But I don't want it to!
    Is there any way of forcing the paste to create a new library object, or alternatively to take existing slides and de-link their backgrounds?
    Thank you

    Thank you niamhsile
    I figured out that the easiest way to create the new slides was to CTRL-SHIFT-J to create a blank new slide, paste as image rather than as background, then CTRL-M to merge the image into the background.
    I haven't figured out a way to delink existing slides though.

  • Encoded emails doesn't work into library objects

    I use extensions like ultimailto or superemail to encode
    emails in order
    to avoid spam. However they don't work when you put those
    links
    into library object. They work if you put the code alone in
    the page.
    I wonder why and how to make those work in library objects
    Example of my library object
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=utf-8">
    <p><a
    href="&#109;&#97;&#105;&#108;&#116;&#111;:&#97;&#100;&#118;&#101;&#114;&#116;&#105;&#115; &#101;&#64;&#98;&#97;&#114;&#105;&#108;&#111;&#99;&#104;&#101;&#46;&#101;&#115;&#112;&#46; &#98;&#114;?Subject=Advertise%20on%20Bariloche%20esp%20br&body=Please%20indicate%20your%20 first%20and%20last%20name,%20company,%20phone,%20email,%20webpage%20and%20product%20or%20s ervice%20you%20want%20to%20advertise"><img

    Bariloche.esp.br"
    width="393" height="60" border="0" title="Advertise in
    Bariloche.esp.br"
    /></a></p>

    Well, yeah. Try it and see if that helps.
    This kind of obfuscation is useless, in my opinion, but then
    so is the use
    of 'mailto:' links (which are generally unreliable). The best
    way is to use
    a form to submit comments to a server script which sends the
    email.
