Library panel folders state not remembered

I am using LRM3 on Win 7. LRM does not remember the state of the folders in the panel when I re-open the application. For example if I have my folders organized by year. I open 2004 browse to some file. Then I close the folder tree at 2004 and then open 2007 and select a sub folder. I then close the application and reopen it. It shows both 2004 and 2007 folders open even though I shut (collapsed) the 2004 folder before quitting the program. This can be quite annoying when you have lots of folder as the folder with focus, i.e. 2007 subfolder is way off the bottom of the screen. Does everyone have this problem, i.e is it a feature or a bug?

I have a similar problem with LRM3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.  But it's even worse.  Not only does Lightroom insist on opening three of my top-level folders when it starts, it does this every time I perform an operation that affects the file system.  For example, with all folders closed, I open folder X, and rename X/OldName to X/NewName.  Upon confirming the change, folder X/OldName changes to X/NewName, but then A/ B/ and C/ all open.  I can't tell you how much time and mouseclicking this has wasted for me.
I've tried your Alt-Click method for closing the folders, however that doesn't help.  A/ B/ and C/ always open at startup and anytime I modify the file system. I've even totally uninstalled Lightroom and re-installed, but that didn't help.  Whatever the problem is, it must be in the catalog.  I verify and backup the catalog every time I quite Lightroom after doing real work.
Any suggestions from anyone?
OK, I've fixed my problem I hope.  After uninstalling and  re-installing LR3, I created a new catalog.  Then I imported all the  photos from my previous catalog using "Import from Catalog..."  This  took an entire evening.  Then I shut down Lightroom.  I have it set to  backup every time I shut down, and I always set it to verify and  optimize the catalog.  The backup took quite a while also.  Now, my  three folders that always opened on startup and anytime I touched the  file system all stay closed under those circumstances.
Curiously, my installation of  Lightroom still does not remember folder states.  It now always  starts with all folders closed, even if I left top-level or subfolders  open when I shut it down.  But this is fine with me!

  • Outlook 2013 - Online Archive folders do not remember expand / collapse

For our QA group, we have just upgraded them from Office 2010 to Office 2013 SP1. We have one user that noticed something. With Outlook 2010, the client would remember which folders he had expanded or collapsed under his "Archive" (the online archive
generated by the Archiving feature of Exchange server). However, once we upgraded him to Outlook 2013, this is no longer true. Now, the "Online Archive" header is fully collapsed when he open Outlook every time.
To test, I created a small folder structure with some items in my own "Online Archive" section and was able to reproduce this behavior. Outlook 2013 will remember which folders are expanded or collapsed for the folders in my Inbox but not for the
folders in my Archive. Is there a way to have Outlook 2013 remember the expand / collapse settings for the Archive?

  • Aperture Library photo folders are not updated in iTunes view

The list of photo folders in Aperture doesn't update which doesn't allow me to select them and sync with my iPad. Selecting ALL would be too many for the iPad (60,000 plus).
I put new photos into Aperture 3.0 and can't get them onto my iPad.
    Suggestions?

I can't really help, but I have the same problem. I really need to convert one of the RAW images in Aperture to a DNG using the Adobe DNG converter, but the converter can't find the image because the folders haven't updated.
I have restarted Aperture, the computer, all of the programs. Nothing seems to work. I don't know why the folders in the Pictures folder wouldn't match the folders in the Aperture Library. Most of them are the same, why not all?

  • Wifi state not remembered across reboot after recent upgrade

After a recent upgrade, I noticed that the wireless network is always on after the computer boots (I use NetworkManager in gnome, which I always use to turn the wireless off). Before that, the wireless is on only if I left it on before I shutdown the computer last time.
Are there people who are having similar symptoms or know the cause?
(I have a Broadcom BCM43142 card and use the broadcom-wl driver)

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
    • restart Apple TV
    • restart Macbook Pro
    • quite iTunes/open
    • turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
    • unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

  • LR3 does not remember last filter setting

When accessing image folders in the Library module, LR3 does not remember the filter settings that were in used during the last visit. This was a great feature in 2.*. Is there any way to restore this desirable behavior?

Excellent. I don't mind them dumbing things down for the "where did my files go?" crowd,so long as they leave us the option to do things the faster way.

Do a restore from Time Machine. That will tell you.

    Aftershotz,
You're going to have to give a bit more information.
What do you mean by "opening a file in library?"  There is no function of Aperture to open files -- you can open (switch) libraries.
You'll have to be more specific about error messages, too.  Perhaps some screenshots would be useful to diagnose your problem.  "Can't open database with library name" is not enough detail about what Aperture is really telling you.

  • Bridge not Remembering Last Position for Side Panels?

The side panels in Bridge CS6 will not stay to the last set position when I close? I have thought that this was a case of bridge not closing properly on Windows (7) shutdown. I then tried setting the side panels to where I would like them and went File > Exit to close bridge properly and when I launch it still does not have the correct position. Does it not remember this and how do I change this?
Here is a screenshot of what I am calling the side panels: http://screencast.com/t/QDZGNCPp  (The red arrows are pointing to the side panels.)

If you have start Bridge at launch enabled you closing proceedure should work.
Have you tried setting your panels where you want then saving this as a workspace?

I do not have this problem in Bridge.
    Any solution?

  • I could not remember my Apple ID, changed my password and now my music library is virtually empty. Please help - I am devastated. Most of what I held in the library was uploaded from CDs

I could not remember my Apple ID, changed my password and verified the email address. It may be a different one from that held in the system, I don't know. Now my music and audio book library is evertuslly empty. I am devastated. Please help. How can I retrieve all the CDs I downloaded?

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

  • My MacBook Pro Retina's Bluetooth chipset unknown/odd login message on the login screen states Login Window Authentication Login window Name edit text has keyboard focus. In addition, the login screen is not remembering me

I have been experiencing several issues with my MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012. My MBPR is scheduled to go into the depot. However, I am wondering if anyone may be able to shed light on a few issues as this is the third "official" time my MBPR is going back for service ("one depot" trip; "one authorized" dealer; several in-store visits).
My Bluetooth is stating that the Bluetooth Chipset is Unknown (0). I also have had Bluetooth Preferences mysteriously change on me. In addition, while Bluetooth is off there are two serial modems turning on. I have turned them off, but they continue to pop up.
In addition, when I log in, my MBPR is not remembering me and my login name is not appearing on the slate-gray screen. The name and password are blank and the following message appears in the lower left hand corner. "login window authentication login window Name edit text has keyboard focus."  As a side note, I am the only user. The login issue is a recent occurrence as we just totally wiped it again via a Command + R, and I don't believe I have an accessibility setting set to anything that would cause this, but wanted to check.
Should I be concerned here? Has anyone else had issues like this? I don't want to worry if I don't have to. I have had so many issues over the course of nine months. 5-6 wipes. Airport card replaced and I am about to pull my hair out if my MBPR doesn't come back worldly like clock work this time. I just can't send my days trying to get a $2300 product to work for me any longer. No idea what is wrong with it, but it is driving me insane. Cross your fingers for me and any guidance you have or thoughts would be welcomed. Thank you. EMM

There are a ton of other warnings. Before I go through this again, can someone tell me if this is normal (all of it -- above too); or if these are symptoms is a keystroke logger or hardware issues?
I ask because originally, when my computer went in for diagnostics (more than once), Apple stated the hardware was fine (other than Airport Card -- finally). However, if I've done 5-6 total wipes; created new users; do not have sharing set-up; have not played around in Terminal; and am up-to-date with versions -- and various issues KEEP COMING BACK -- I am left wondering if a keystroke logger would be possible here?!? I thought maybe a faulty logic board, but why would diagnostics be okay, then? Not trying to be hyperbole, just desperate.
Please help me rule keystroke logger out or at least, tell me so I know, so I can take appropriate action. If you think it could be the logic board with symptoms above, that would be a great too.
All I want to do is use the computer as intended, but I can't seem to get a real answer, so after nine months -- I am turning to the communities to see if anyone -- anyone at all -- can help. The last thing I can do is have the MBPR come back from the depot and the same thing occur. Any guidance or advice would be so gratefully appreciated.

  • Importing iPhoto `11 Library Lost Folders & Nested Albums

Been using iPhoto since its' inception. Currently at iPhoto `11. Had created many Albums and Smart Albums based on Keywords and had most of them organized into Folders in iPhoto.
Just bought Aperture 3 and, following the video tutorial provided by Apple, imported my 9,000+ iPhoto Library into it. However, only albums that resided at the top level in the sidebar of iPhoto made it into Aperture. All Folders and any Albums and Smart Albums that resided inside those Folders were not imported into Aperture.
I have verified that all photos contained within the missing Folders and Albums have made it into Aperture, just not the Folder and Album hierarchies I had created over the years.
Do I need to delete the Aperture Library and re-import the iPhoto Library again using other settings?

Thanks for the reply Terrence. I'm still a bit confused by some contradictory behavior of Aperture.
    The Aperture Manual states (p.112):
+"The organization of your iPhoto images and albums is maintained as projects in the Projects panel."+
Well, not actually. Only EVENTS seem to be maintained as Projects when imported from iPhoto. My iPhoto library contains 1189 Events. Aperture now has 1185 Projects after the iPhoto import. But Projects does not contain any of the album organization that had been created in iPhoto.
The Aperture Manual further states (p.112):
"+You cannot import slideshows, books, and Smart Albums from your iPhoto Library."+
Well, actually, Aperture DID import 5 of my Smart Albums. But these were only the Smart Albums at the top level of iPhoto's sidebar. All other Smart Albums nested inside folders in iPhotos sidebar were not brought over.
    So I'm confused.

  • How to get to folder in /Library/Saved Application State/com.adobe.flashplayer.installmanager.savedState

I have a file saved in a folder which according to a find ?/ -name "" search is located here /Library/Saved Application State/com.adobe.flashplayer.installmanager.saved
But I can't browse through this folder structure in Finder (I have run command to allow me to see hidden folders if that is required).
Please can someone help me to find out how to get to this file. It's an excel spreadsheet.
    Thank you

When I try to save another excel file that I have also opened from a password protected zip file, the automatic folder selected is "wzQL.8t0UHS". When I try to save a file with exactly the same name as the file that is missing into the folder "wzQL.8t0UHS" it tells me that the file already exists and asks if I want to replace it.
My assumption was therefore that it was some kind of cache where the file is intact.
When I've done a search on the name of the file I am looking for in Finder, I do not find the file.

  • Mail Preferences not remembered...

My mail preferences are not being remembered when mail is reopened, even the email default to send from is not remembered, all folders with in Mail when opened are collapsed & no signatures are in place.
Brand new iMac, mail was imported from Macbook Pro with no issues 2 weeks ago. Mail was freezing on start up so I followed a thread on here:
Library/containers/com.apple.mail & delete the named folder, which did resolve the freezing on start up, now no preferences are remembered by mail.
    Any help would be fantastic...
    Thanks in advance

Is there any chance anyone can help, this issue is becoming rather annoying especially as this iMac is less than a month old!
    Thanks in advance!
