Library Performance Discussion - Tips & Tricks?

Over the years, my iTunes library (mp3s-only) has amassed to staggering 1.25Tb. Inevitably, I running into severe performance issues, where selecting songs, searching for songs, tagging and streaming to AirTunes has become a complete pain. My current set-up: all the songs on a 2Tb, FW800 drive hooked up directly into my 2009 MBP
I wanted to start this topic to aggregate tips and tricks on how to deal with such libraries and what are the best set-up to squeeze out a decent performance.
To start off with some questions:
1) Would a RAID set up work?
2) Is the ‘once and for all’ solution a Mac Pro, 8-core, 32Gb RAM with a 4Tb Raid drive?
3) What are the options available for external storage and decent iTunes performance?
4) Are there ‘library file’ tweaks possible?
5) Options to turn off in iTunes that use computing power?
6) Where does the ‘spinning rainbow ‘come from?
Thanks in advance!!

i hear you. my library is now in excess of 1.3 TB
Inevitably, I running into severe performance issues,
luckily, i am not having any performance issues
My current set-up: all the songs on a 2Tb, FW800 drive hooked up directly into my 2009 MBP
i use two of these drives (one as main, the other as backup). these drives are very fast and extremely quiet. the main drive is hanging off a *standard config* mini (2009).
I wanted to start this topic to aggregate tips and tricks on how to deal with such libraries and what are the best set-up to squeeze out a decent performance.
To start off with some questions:
1) Would a RAID set up work?
can't comment on that. i am very happy with the performance of the LaCie.
2) Is the ‘once and for all’ solution a Mac Pro, 8-core, 32Gb RAM with a 4Tb Raid drive?
i don't think you need such a machine - though i'd love to have one myself
3) What are the options available for external storage and decent iTunes performance?
see above.
4) Are there ‘library file’ tweaks possible?
unnecessary, IMHO.
5) Options to turn off in iTunes that use computing power?
none really, AFAIK. what does +activity monitor+ says when these problems occur ?
6) Where does the ‘spinning rainbow ‘come from?
something else on your machine is not +playing game+.
i would start with creating a (temporary) new admin account, logging into that, and check if the performance issues persist. you may have to populate iTunes on the temporary account with a few tunes.
reinstalling iTunes is another option (this will not touch your music or iTunes library files). click here for instructions.
also, when was the last time you ran a +verify disk+ using disk utility ? have your repaired permissions ? what's the size of your startup disk and how much space is left ?

  • Tips & Tricks to manage time to contribute in SCN

    Hi SCN Mates,
The question of managing time to contribute in SCN and be in the top list of contributors is always a challenge, I wonder how other guys are managing it along with project work and personal life.
Through this thread I would like to ask all top contributors to share few tips on how do you manage your time to contribute in SCN and be in top?
I know with dedication and knowledge, at same time everyone will have their office work at priority after family/personal time.
Also contributing for an hour daily is also not possible because you never know whether you get ideas within an hour ;-).
Anyway, share your tips & tricks...
    Thanks,
    Umashanakr

People who become Top Contributors fall into two main categories
Category 1 - There is no need to know anything about SAP at all, but since they are SAP professionals at the end of the day, they know enough to get points. They spend all their time on SCN, Must follow every single member of HCL. Must go to each blog and like it ,and write "thank you". They  read every question posted on the forum, whether they know anything about it or not, and reply to it. They have excellent google skills, so they google the answer and post links in reply to every question. They could vary their approach by becoming active in Coffee Corner as well. Soon they will have million points and be a top contributor.
Unfortunately, this method is not for those who have family/work/other commitments which are more important.
Category 2 - These people have built up a tremendous amount of knowledge after years of practising in the business. They are genuine experts. They do not come into SCN with the sheer intent of accumulating points. However, when they do come in, and see fit to respond to a post, it is invariably the correct answer or  very helpful, that they get marked accordingly. These people post thoughtful blogs or comments or documents or discussions, which are useful and appreciated by the community and they get marked accordingly. Sooner or later, without really trying, but by simply practising their profession, these people accumulate enough points to become Top Contributors.
These people do not have a set strategy intended to accumulate points, but they do have a set strategy of being good and knowledgeable at their job. They manage their work/life balance in a way that suits them to achive this goal.
I am afraid there is no fixed way to achieve lofty goals with little or no effort.
There is a 3rd category, who are pretty decent in their knowledge and sporadically answer questions when they feel like, and who randomly get points for their responses, and they will never become top contributors, however, they are not too worried about it, and they do get to spend time with their families/other interests. This is a technicality that need not detain us.
    YMMV
    Hope this helps.

    Greetings Experts!
I am searching for information and/or documentation in regards to tips, tricks, lessons learned, and "steps to take" while upgrading to ECC 6.0 (from 4.6c, to be specific).
We have the install guides, and I'm currently looking at the ERP Solution browser to discern the differences between the two releases... however, we're in need of information on specific actions or things to look for after the technical upgrade. I am having trouble finding any SAP documentation of this kind.
Links to SAP documentation are highly desired. Personal documentation in this regard would be highly appreciated as well! My e-mail address is in my profile.
    Many, many thanks in advance!

  • Overclocking the i7 in Tips & Tricks

Harm Millaard, the hardware guru from the PrPro forum has just posted a LINK to his overclocking the i7 guide, in the Tips & Tricks sub-forum.
If you're considering doing this, you might want to give it a read.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

My i7 rig is with a socket 1156 board, an Asus P7P55D mobo, and an 860 CPU. I know the Corsair DDR3 memory @ its stock 1.65v simply doesn't run at 1600mhz like it says on its box - 1333mhz seems to be its stability wall.
I upgraded my Q6600 and Asus P5B deluxe rig because so many people said to never consider overclocking on an editing rig. Was that over-cautious advice?

  • Elgato EyeTV Hybrid tips & tricks

I didnt know where else to put this so im posting this here. I'm looking for any tips & tricks or whatever you want to call it with the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid for Mac. Reason this being is because im using an Xbox 360 with this and i feel my experience could be much better, with quality and responce time.
I know all the Converting/Encoding whichever is all being done by the iMac so i suppose id have to live with the response time but is there anything i can do to the settings for quality? Anything you want to suggest please do, id be happy to try it and give feedback.
    Thanks

There is no interface with the Eyetv to the Dish receiver that would permit channels to return. Your Eyetv is only as good as the channel the reciever is set to. In other words, your Eyetv will retrieve any channels that are not regulated by a reciever to interpolate them, ie: "Over the air" and/or a "straight cable connection" without a set top box. Whether it be a Dish network or a local cable company, any circumstance of a set top box will not be compatible with Eyetv for the lack of it's abilty to change the channels on that box. The only circumstance I have ever seen is when a viewing/recording device has an IR blaster that transmits the channel selection to that set top box and changes the channels much the same as you would with a remote. That being said, there is still the issue of that particular device knowing the IR codes to your particular box.
Your Eyetv is good for "Over the Air" and/or a straight Cable coax connection only. Sorry.

  • Business Workplace - "Tips & Tricks"

I've just noticed a very, very cool feature in Business Workplace. When you go to your Inbox, and you hover over "Tips & Tricks," something appears, a bit like a Windows tooltip, except far more useful and far less annoying.
Does anyone know how I can get such a feature into an ABAP programme I write myself? It looks like it should be easy - probably something like set a property on an object and watch it happen. But I can't work it out, I think I must be looking in the wrong place...

    Hi Robert,
The Preview Pane utilizes HTML controls. A new item for the "Tips & Tricks" is selected every time you click on a different workitem or deadline message. Function module SIN_WI_PREVIEW_TIPS gets the tip and builds the HTML.
    Cheers,
    Ramki Maley.

  • Aperture 3 library performance tip after upgrading

This tip may be helpful for anyone experiencing slow project/album loading and beachballing even with no background processes running in aperture 3.
I was having some major issues with performance in aperture 3 with all library/project/album and book loading operations. It was very odd because Adjustment performance is very good.
All my imported aperture 2 books would beach ball for about 50 seconds to load, and then each page would take 10 seconds to load after clicking on it. In comparison my aperture 2 library was near instantaneous.
After exporting the project as a separate library, rebuilding the library, repairing permissions, nothing was working.
As a last ditch effort before opening up Shark - I decided to open up the library in the finder, and manually delete all of the original previews. I then opened up the library in aperture and manually updated all the previews by highlighting all the thumbnails and right clicking -> update previews.
Once this process completed I quit aperture and restarted to see if I was still getting any slowdowns and the problem is now gone! Library loading and project switching operations are speedy as ever now, and the book navigation is faster than aperture 2 now.
Hope this helps anyone with performance issues.

Speak up if anyone has problems migrating because of previews or is successful in migrating without previews. I suspect this is my problem. I get to:
Upgrading Library 7% complete (updating master metadata - 5,068 remaining)
After restoring from a file vault with Aperture 2, I get to the same spot, with or without previews. Although this is a slightly different issue, I tried deleting previews within Aperture and reimporting. I got to the same exact spot as before. The computer becomes nearly unresponsive, and I have to force quit Aperture after hours of sitting at 5,068 remaining.

  • Upgrading from 12.1.0 to 12.2 -- tips tricks??

I will be embarking on upgrading to 12.2 in the near term.  I am on 12.1.0 for the repository and 12.1.1 for everything else.  I have read through the migration considerations doc as well as the install guides.  I have never done this before and am quite concerned that this be a flawless operation.  What is the degree of difficulty?  What is the degree of risk?  Has anyone here gone through this migration?  I would appreciate some tips and tricks from anyone that has performed this operation.
Oh, and we are on an AIX box.  Version 5.
    Thanks.
    MSlayden

The degree of risk is quite low as 12.2 is just a minor version.
Just make sure to back up the repo .
    Remove 12.1 and install 12.2
Upgrade the repo and you should be done .

  • [Tips & Tricks] Beginners guide to Bloodborne

There is no doubt Bloodborne will be a difficult game. But do not fear, it's not unbeatable and as long as we stand together as a community we will manage it!
Let's use this guide to help all the beginners and newbies, especially those who have never played a Demon Souls or Dark Souls game.
We will collect all your tips and add them to the:
    *BEGINNERS GUIDE*
    To BLOODBORNE
#1 Learn how to parry by firing your gun at the right moment! - @LordRoss &
This can not be stressed enough. It is the most important skill to master if you wish to boss this game so it needs to reiteration. A well-timed parry will open up your opponent for a vicious riposte. This comes in most handy against large opponents who you can take out with very few killer blows rather than chipping away at his health with pin-pricks.
    #2 Learn to chain attacks.
Due to the new trick weapon system, where each weapon has two functions, you can now chain moves in a way you never could in any Souls game. When you press L1 your weapon will switch from one combat style to another, usually from a quick, short-range attack to a slow, long-range attack.
The thing is if you press L1 while in the middle of a combo the transition from one style to another itself becomes an attack which will link one style to another. Try start off with two, short range R1 (weak) attacks, press L1 to switch style, adding damage, and follow through into a long-range R2 (strong) attack.
Remember that on two-handed and dual-wield styles R2, your usual button for firing your gun, now also becomes an attack instead of that button becoming idle.
#3 Charge attacks to drop enemies from behind. - JynXten
In the Souls games back-stabbing was a simple matter of getting behind the enemy and stabbing him in the back. Now you need to charge your attack by holding R2 for a couple of seconds 'til your weapon gives off a glint at which point you let go to deliver a powerful blow which will drop your enemy to his knees so you can ram your blade between his shoulder blades.
Press forward lightly on the left stick to sneak up on opponents.

  • Keyboard Tips & Tricks

    Hello,
First of all Happy Holidays to all.
I have an old keyboard (the kind that was shipped out with the first iMacs 233-350MHz, the ones before the pro keyboards came out.)
I was wondering if anyone of you can give some tips on shortcuts that can be done on this old keyboard. I already know the shortcuts command+q, command+w, command+e ect. -- I am looking for more shortcuts that people are unaware of such as F12=Eject (like the eject button on the pro keyboard) -- things of that nature.
Maybe my question can help someone else turn there old keyboard somewhat into a pro keyboard.
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Sean R....
Actually your Mac OS "Help" has a list for each OS version that you list in your specs.
Now for other tricks that depends on your needs. For example some iMac(s) here may not eject using the F12 key. There is other petty software available to do the same thing depending on what OS you are using.
Mac OS 10 from around 10.2 has Menu Extras nested back in a few folders. [your HD] / System / Core Services / Menu Extras/ -. from here you can click on Eject.menu and an eject icon should appear in your upper tool bar menu. Volume.menu may get set that way (speaker icon) or via Sound preferences. A mouse controled slider appears when selected.

  • Z10 Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts

I've compiled these tips from several week's worth of using the Z10 BlackBerry.
For the new Z10 user, you'll find some good stuff here and I urge you to just sit down for 20 miutes and go through each of these. They'll stick with you that way.
For the experienced user, please feel free to post your own tips in this thread! I'd ask that we stay on topic, and let's get as many as possible posted here.
     Settings
First, find your SETTINGS easily by swiping down from the top bezel. There you will see Settings, Bluetooth, Alarm, Rotation Lock, WiFi and Notifications. In your Settings, you will find your About screen, Network Connections such as your mobile network, Mobile Hotspot, NFC, Airplane Mode, etc.; your email accounts setup, Language and Input, BlackBerry Protect, and many other key settings.
Name your Z10 at Settings > About > Device Name. This is the name of the device a WiFi router will see, when using the BlackBerry Link on your desktop, or when sharing media files.
Remember the Overflow icon, which is noted by the ⁞ icon (three horizontal dots) This icon is often seen in the Hub, at the bottom of email compose screens and in many core BB10 apps and will lead you to more settings, options or actions for that screen.
Take a screen shot of your Z10 screen by pressing both the UP and DOWN volumes keys simultaneously. The screen shot is saved in your Pictures folder.
Stop the red LED quickly by tapping the top edge Standby button. Sometimes I don't have time to even peek at the Hub, and a quick tap of the standby button let's me get back to work for a few more minutes.
Hub Quick Controls: While in your Hub view, tap the overflow icon ⁞ and then Settings > to find your settings for Hub Display and Actions (change the sort order of messages, download images automatically and more), Hub Management (you can enable and disable which email accounts, Facebook, and Twitter to appear or no in the Hub.
Application settings can often be found by swiping down from the top bezel to find more Settings, Help, or About that third party application.
Disable the Delete Message Confirmation from your Hub screen > tap the overflow icon ⁞ > Settings > Display and Actions > scroll down to and disable the Delete Message Confirmation.
Peek when busy! If your actively in an email or other app like Twitter, you can use one finger swiping slowly up from the bottom bezel to view any mail, BBM or Hub notifications on the left or right of the pane. Keep your finger on the app and swipe back down to continue in the active app, or let go to move to another app. Swiping up from the bottom and over to the right all in one action hides that active app and takes you directly to your Hub.
Check your battery percentage at Settings > About > change the top Category from General to Hardware and the battery percentage is at the bottom of the screen. I've downloaded "Battery Watch" from BlackBerry World for free, as an icon on my screen.
Speed Dial settings are found by opening your Phone application and while in the Call List or Contacts view, touch and hold the desire contact to add to your Speed Dial and on the popup side bar, touch the Star icon (Add to Speed Dial).
    Typing/Keyboard
Word Substitution on your Z10 works beautifully! Find it in your Settings > Language and Input > Automated Assistance > Word Substitution. We formerly called this AutoText, and it works all the same as before. There are a few pre-loaded, and I make my own, for things such as creating an entry of "hh" which becomes "Headed Home" I often use to let family know I've left the office at the end of the day. You can create Twitter hashtags, such as "bbt" becomes "#BlackBerry10", "myadd" instantly enters my physical office address. Learn to use the pre-loaded entries such as "ld" for today's date, "lt" for the current time, "mypin" to enter your Z10 PIN, or "myver" to instantly enter your BlackBerry model and OS version installed.
Hide the keyboard on any screen by wiping down with two fingers on the keyboard. Now you can see more of the long BBMessenger chat.
Format your Email to add colored fonts, Bold, bullets, or numbering... While in the email compose screen, swipe two fingers down to hide the keyboard and you'll see the Attach, Format, Importance and the overflow [⁞] icon... which allows you do BCC: a contact in the email.
Minize the keyboard quickly by touching the space key for two seconds, or by using two fingers to swipe downward on the keyboard.
Switch Keyboards quickly between the QWERTY keyboard and the numeric/symbol keyboard by swiping down on the keyboard with one finger.
Delete whole words by swiping left across the keyboard. Delete two words by swiping leftward with two fingers, three words with three fingers.
Select a word by touching and holding the word, the blue selection box will surround the word. Hold that word a second longer and the entire sentence will be selected. Another second, the entire paragraph will select; a second longer and the next paragraph will select with it, and so on.
    Media
Use the Camera on the Lock Screen by touching the camera icon for five seconds... instant camera for the quick shots without unlocking!
Camera Tips: Use the up or down volume to activate the shutter, or simply touch the screen. Touch the Overflow icon for the camera's Burst mode (touch and hold for sports shots!) or to change the front-facing camera, or the Stabilization mode for shaky hands. The up/down volume keys also stop and start the video camera.
Set your Music Controls to your volume keys by going to your Settings > System Volume > to set the Music Shortcuts to On. Now your device volume up/down keys can be pressed to take you to the next or previous track in your music library.
    Calendar
Switch calendar views quickly between the single day view to the week view, tap the screen twice quickly
A six month calendar is viewable, from the month view, by dragging down from top blue month title. From there you can swipe left or right to the previous or future six months, and touch a month to view that month.
    Miscellaneous
Customize your icon layout by touching and holding an icon for two seconds until they pulsate... Touch and drag an icon within the current screen and let go to place it; drag an icon across the edge right or left to another panel, or drag one icon onto another to create a new folder with both icons located in that folder (you'll have a New Folder box pop up where you can name the folder). Rename a folder by touching it a few seconds.
Voice Control can quickly access from any screen by pressing the side MUTE key for two seconds (this is the button between the up and down volume keys).
Just Type! I am amazed at the ease of typing and self-correction of my typing mistakes on the Z10. I just seem to enter gibberish and the Z10 makes sense of it all in 99% of the words. Take time the first two weeks to use the word flick as you type and the Z10 will learn even better your typing and writing habits.
Just Speak! I have never been a big user of my former BlackBerry voice to text apps or services. They just never worked right for me. But WOW, this Z10 is actually getting better and better each time I use the Voice Control. Just like typing, it's learning my speech pattern, southern accent and idiosyncrasies. Take some time aside to create SMS messages or emails with the Voice Control and then as you do, make the corrections needed. Doing so will make a world of difference in how Voice Control reacts and transcribes your voice input.
Reset the BlackBerry10 Hub by swiping from the top right bezel to the center of the screen, five times in a row. This will often reset any ghost notifications, your email or social media notifications. You'll see a quick black screen then "Preparing BlackBerry Hub".

  • Some tips/tricks for  KinTwom

First I want to say I got this phone yesterday, and I just love it. I found some things customizable on there and didn't know if anyone else had taken notice to them themselves.
First, I know that the social networks were removed from the sliding option
But there is a work around for that. When you open your browser select the address bar, and click the <-- key on your keyboard. type in facebook.com and log in as you normally do. then when that page loads, click on the star in the address bar area on the right side.. it will give you the option to "pin to apps" this will give you instant access to your facebook.. or any site you wish. I do not know how many you can pin. But this is an option to add your social sites to your apps window.
    Secondly
I love the color schemes included, and although we arent able to customize the look, or make our own scheme colors.. you can however move the apps around. use 2 fingers and tap on apps screen, this will make the apps collapse.. you can then touch and hold to drag them anywhere on the screen.. put two fingers on it again and it will save and relock the apps. this is great for putting your most used apps at the top of the screen or anywhere you want them on that front screen
Zune is great, I am really enjoying it.. I have already figured out how to use the zune software with my phone, and move and delete pictures and music. If some of you don't understand how syncing works, when you plug your phone into your computer and your zune opens, you will notice your lock screen says "connected" to disconnect, unlcock screen.. or something like that.. if you unlock your phone screen, you will not be connected to the pc for syncing. I am thinking this is why people are complaining about not being able to sync their phones with the software or that the software isn't recognizing it.. if you do unlcock the screen, just unplug the phone and plug it back in, it will recognize it again. Keep it connected, and it will sync photos, videos, and music. back and forth. To delete music and videos off your phone.. in zune, click on "phone" in the very top navagation area then click on the media type.. you will then see what is on your phone.. right click on the item & select delete.
ALSO.. you DON"T need a ZUNE pass to enjoy the features of the zune.. there is a work around for that too.. in zune, go to marketplace, and select music or videos.. when you click on a song or music video, you can purchase it with microsoft points I purchased 400 points for $4.99 and was able to download one video and 2 songs I liked.. the zune pass is $14.99 a month for 10 songs.. thats rediculous... and expensive.
So,.Just purchase the credits seperately, your better off.. when you used all your points.. they have larger quanities you can purchase.. you will see these options when your in the check out area of purchasing them. you can choose how many points you want... AND the points you purchase can be shared across zune and xbox live as well for you gamers.
I LOVE the threaded texting.. I do not care about forwarding messages to people.. I personally hate getting those kind of texts myself... I dont care that you cant delete one message at a time.. I personally enjoy the simplicity of deleting the entire conversation at once..having this phone after having regular phones. this thing is the easiest, simplist phone I ever got... And it is great.
When I was activating the phone I had to have tech support help me, (because of area I live in) so they had me dial that ##number to go deeper into the phones settings.. I noticed that windows items are still in there... like the cloud server information.. I am thinking that these phones were reintroduced for a reason. There may just be updates and options down the road, why else would they keep all of microsofts product in the phone? It's just a thought. But anyways.. I have read so many people complaining about the volume keys not locking when the phone locks.. That doesn't bother me at all.. I never use the alarm.. don't care about it. I never make calls with my phone because I have poor reception where I live.., THIS IS THE BEST TEXTING PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!! at verizon... the other feature phones do NOT have threaded texting at all.. not even the cosmos touch do not believe what reviewers are saying on youtube about the LG cosmos touch.. they obviously don't know what "threaded" texting actually means. there is no threaded texting on that phone... that is why i sent it back and got the kinTwo instead..... with this phone.. you click on the bubble that pops up from a message you recieved, and wa-la conversation screen appears.. no need to go through 5 button clicks to send anything like those other feature phones(blah). you click on messages, click on the conversation and start typing thats all there is to that. awesome. LOVE IT!!!!!
It is VERY true that you DON'T need a data plan to have this phone.. but it would make sense to get the cheapest data plan.. that way if your not near a wifi connection you can still use the browser.. but it isn't a must have. I have nationwide messaging, which includes unlimited data.. so I am good to go either way. There are settings, you can turn off data roaming, turn off wifi and all that.. so you can choose how you want to utilize the options of your KinTwom. The browser has pinch zooming like a "droid" and it is pretty fluid too. This phone feels like a smartphone when I use it. I just LOVE it!
I read all the specs, and all the reviews of this phone before I ordered it, so I already knew what was capable and what wasn't and I have no complaints about it on those things. I think I know why the volume doesn't lock when you lock the device, because it is a music player.. and if someone were to use it as a music player, it would be more of a hassle to turn down the music in situations if it was locked.. BUT.. there however should be a settings option in the sound menu to lock it on phone lock.. that way people who do not use it for music, can choose to lock the sound. just a thought for verizon.
I hear people talking about there wont be any updates or anything like that to these phones simply because microsoft backed out of them.. people are not thinking clearly.. these aren't the original kin phones, they arent depleating their left over inventory.. these are reintroduced as feature phones with smartphone features removed, . and I highly doubt verizon would have people use phones that would forever be out of date.. or not updated. I read in this forum that someone did get some sort of modem update on their device... so updates are probable from verizon. What I would like to see, is the ability to change the app icons using photos downloaded or taken via camera..the same as we can for our favorite contacts. that would be a sweet thing to be able to do. just a suggestion.
My only issue is if I put my camera setting to night mode the camera will be slower for some weird reason, not sure why that is.. so I will just leave it on auto.  But i love this phone.. it is the best feature phone I have ever owned in my life. Before you buy the phone.. get familuar with the specs and functions of it.. don't go blindly purchasing this phone thinking it's an android or something like that.. this is NOT  smartphone... but it is pretty ****** close to it with some of the features it has and the look of it.
Hope this post helps some people! =)
If anyone has any other tricks or tips that havent been mentioned yet.. feel free to post them here.

I know this stuff is 3 months old but I just got mine and hadn't yet used the pin function so now I know.
I hope you are right Nancy that it will have updates, but I really doubt it. This is the norm for Microsoft when stuff they put out bombs. Dish Network had a DVR receiver many years ago that had Microsoft software installed and it was buggy to say the least. They updated it a few times but then abandon it. For a few years Microsoft wouldn't release the code to Dish Network to allow DN to fix the bugs. It was a real "Hate Microsoft" time for those users. DN had to put out their own coded DVR receivers and let the Microsoft ones die.
I think VZ made a deal with MS and removed the stuff MS wasn't supporting. Then VZ put them out without needing a data package to unload them.

  • DB2 zOS database export tips & tricks

Does anyone have compiled or know of the existence of a list of tips, pointers, tricks, etc. for the process of exporting a DB2 zOS database (for use in a later import into a DB2 LUW system)?
Most appreciated any help you may provide.

I just uploaded a document with the steps that I followed for the DB2 z/OS database export.
Mind I did this back in October, 2008 (see my original post date).
