Library Photos images suddenly not displayed, though they are available
I have been running Aperture 3.1.3 under OS 10.6.8 on an iMac for many months. Suddenly there is a problem: at the far left of my Aperture window is a vertical band in which there are tabs for Library, Metadata and Adjustments. The Library tab (the Library Inspector) shows at the top the choices Projects, Faces, Places, Flagged and Trash. Below that are various projects and albums. The problem now is with the display of images in the Photos item.
Hitherto when I select Photos in the Library Inspector the large right hand side of the window, the Projects Viewer?, will display thumbnails of all my thousands of stored images. I use the Browser display to see them. But today, in trying to set up yet another Smart Album to display images that have a particular keyword somehow I have entered the Smart Album criteria as limits on what images are displayed when I select the Photos choice. My images are all still in their libraries, and I can see them correctly in all my many folders and smart albums, and in Projects and Faces I see everything , and Aperture functions as always, but when I select the Photos of the Library (that is, I place the cursor over the word "Photos" and click to highlight it), I see only three images, all of which have the properties I was trying to create a smart album for. Hitherto I would see thousands of images.
The user manual says that selecting Photos will show all images in the library, just as selecting Projects will make all the projects appear (and they do) .The Library Inspector search field is empty. It says All Items. There is a search box at the top right of the Display window. It is empty. It says Showing All. Next to it there is a camera icon , and it has no selection checked. In fact, the three displayed images are exactly what will be selected if I check one of the keywords, but I have unchecked it. My belief is that I inadvertently checked the keyword here, and now for some reason the system does not accept that it is unchecked, although the check mark is not seen.
I have quit and restarted Aperture, and I have rebooted the iMac. Nothing helped. How can I reset the criteria for displaying Photos?
You may have an ivisible filter on your "Photos" View - try the "Double Double Reverse Caggiano"; see this user tip:

I am not being critical, but you seem to want Safari to behave exactly like Chrome. Every software developer has a plan. Sometimes features in one product parallel other products - sometime not. There might be some things available that would help you. Do not hold your breath, however, for suggestions from people who use these forums. Most of us use (and like) Apple products. If you wish to make suggestions for future improvements, there is a feedback area on this web site that Apple employees read/review.
Candidly, your approach would be akin to suggesting that Apple emulate the "features" in Windows (heaven forbid).
I use Safari (and have for years). I use Firefox (not a bad product) as my alternate browser.
Sorry for what appears to be a pedantic lecture. However, I think most of us adapt to different products if we really want to use them.

I notice that the image quality in Firefox is not as good as other browsers. I have two monitors and have moved the browser into each so it's not my monitor.
What's the fix?This can happen of Firefox is in 256 color mode, for details see [[Website colors are wrong]]

I am running OS 10.8.5 and Safari 6.1.4, When I go to sierratradingpost.com, the page appears to load, but the page is blank. When I pass the cursor over the page, it will change to the pointing finger indicating active links. Yet, when I click on the link the new page loads, but is also blank. This only happens on my Mac Air, it does not happen on my iTouch or iPad. I have looked through all my settings when the page is loaded but can find nothing. I have WOT, Ghostery and Ad bloc active. Even when I turn all those off I still have the same problem. Everything was fine yesterday morning, but when I went to the site in the afternoon, the problem arose. Any ideas?
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit. -
i-tunes could not be used because the original file could not be found.could not locate.this error occurs on most of my songs in my library and will not play even though they are in my i-pod and play with no trouble.can anyone please help?
I was not complete clear.
Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section. If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there

I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?
And I cant work out why all of my pictures are not diplaying in iphoto?
Is this iPhoto on your Mac? Are you referring to the photos that were in your iPhoto LIbrary prior to the upgrade to iPhoto 11? If so then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If that's not what you're referring to then you should describe what is happening in more detail. Remember we can't see your Mac or your iPhone so need detailed and accurate descriptions of what you're experiencing.
Also we need infomartion like do you have an iCloud account and are you logged into it on all of your devices, iPhoto and Mac? do you have Photo Stream enabled on both.

Tracks from imported cds are appearing as though they are from separate albums.Particularly if they are compilations.
You can use iTunes to select the multiple tracks of the same album, and give them the same Album Name from the info window.
If that does not solve your problem, be sure to check if your songs have different sorting albums. If so, change or delete the text in the sorted albums text field. -
Slideshow images will not display correctly on mobile phone
Hello,
I have a website which I used several slideshows, in areas I would typically just used a rectangle and fill with photo. This was done because my client wants to be able to update the images through business catalyst. Unfortunately, when viewed on a mobile phone (I am using iOS 7) the slide show images do not display correctly.
What can be done to fix this? Is there another workaround I should try?

The images that you are using on parties page are stretched , if you check the image frame you can see that.
As a result the image frame is stretched over the side image , they are not showing properly. If you resize from Muse end , then also it would not be fixed because Muse remembers the image size as you have inserted and when viewed , Muse stretches the image to original size as how it was inserted.
Please resize the images outside Muse , use any image editor like Photoshop and then use the exact dimension of the image frame on page.
This would resolve the issue.

Not all my songs are showing in itunes even though they are in the Itunes Media file directory
Not all my songs are showing in itunes even though they are in the itunes Media Dir. I have spent hours trying to find out why so I moved the songs out of the Music/itunes/itunes media and uninstalled itunes. I then restarted my pc and re-installed itunes. When I opened itunes the same songs are still there (but cannot be played as cannot find location) even though I have not put anything back in the itunes media dir. To me there seems to be a refreshing problem as itunes is not looking at the directory even through the advanced preferences area is mapped to the correct area.
Help please.
ThanksApple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

When I view photos on my devices some are not oriented correctly. I used Picassa to turn all photos upright and then copied those photos into the upload file but they are still not corrected when viewed on my devices (ipads)
Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.

I just loaded some July pictures into my PC iCloud photos upload folder, but I do not see them with my iPad. Are they not shared because they are past the 30 day window, or is there a different issue?

Photo App does not display all photos
Running iOS 7.0.4 on an iPhone 4S. The new Photo App does not display all photos properly. All photos show up as thumbnails. However, when you tap on some of them, only a blank page is displayed. The rest is fine. This issue started after the upgrade to iOS 7. Is this a bug? Hardware-related?
Upon closer inspection it appears that the missing photos are in a folder called IPhoto Library. This folder is greyed out when I choose the import folder.
When I use 'show package contents' it reveals the missing photos (below). Why is my iphoto library so scrambled! Thanks for any insight. -
Calendar items created on my Iphone 4S are not showing up in the Calendar on my MacPro after USB Sync.. even though they are still on the phone... ideas???
In the Event mode use the View ➙ Sort ➙ By Date ➙ Decending menu option. Then the latest imports will be near the top of the Event window (depending on when the photos were taken of course).
Or Control-Click on one of the thumbnails in the Last Import album and select Show Event from the contextual menu:

Image does not display have editing
I'm wondering if anyone is have this issue. On some of pictures after I make an edit (i.e. crop, spot/patch, etc). the image does not display. If I switch to full screen the updated image displays. When I switch back to the browser and viewer mode the image does not display in the viewer.
This problem certainly makes editing pictures quite difficult.
Any help would be great!!!

The rebuilt library and new previews work fine, however, again if I make an edit to the image and the apply the change the updated image does not display. If I resize the image in the viewer the image appears.

How can I rid my iPhone of a huge library of photos which cannot be erased? they are listed under PhotoLibrary.
If you turned on Photo Stream and don't want these pictures on your phone, just turn it off. As mention by wjosten, if you want to remove photos from Photo Library, or any of the albums under Photo Library, you have to deselect them on the Photos tab of your sync settings and sync your phone to remove them. Also, although the photos int Photo Library may appear to be duplicates of the photos in the albums, they aren't. The actual photos are all in Photo Library; the albums only contain links to the photos. Finally, you can only delete albums created on your phone, not ones synced from your computer. And they can only be deleted after they are empty.

Is there a limitation of 1024 points graph plotted using for Trend Tags.vi (DSC)
I am using LabVIEW 6.1 and DSC 6.1. When I display a Trend graph captured using 'Trend Tag.vi' the graph with more than 1024 points, the X-scale max reverts back to 1023. I am not using any autoscale.
