Library wiped out with 7.7 - How to recover

I recently upgrade to iTunes 7.7 and now my library in iTunes is not accessable and shows empty in iTunes. I still have everything on my iPod and I can have verified that all of the CDs I've burned and music I've purchased are still in my iTunes folder. I have also verified the library location is correct in Preference>Advanced.
I tried one of the support topics for "How to re-create your iTunes library", but when I get to the step of dragging the iTunes Music Library.xml to the desktop, I get a message that the xml is corrupt.
Any suggestions?

My computer did the same thing, although it was playing fine and nothing disappeared until I deleted everything (because I was getting rid of duplicated files on my external hard drive and needed to do a kind of Refresh) tried to set it back on, and now nothing will show up. I've told iTunes to use my external hard drive as its folder since I first downloaded iTunes and it's been fine. But yes, I did the update today and as per usual it screwed everything up. Do you know how to get older versions of iTunes back?

I am happy to say that I finally figured out how to get my calendar back: I dug deep into the bowels of the phone, and discovered that syncing had been changed from "all events" to "one month." I changed it back, and - presto! - my life returned.
I am sorry to say that I didn't get any help from anyone at Apple or on this forum. I don't understand why the Appleistas feel free to change these things without warning us, and without telling us how to fix them. I like this phone, but because of the company's institutional arrogance, I strongly doubt that I will ever purchase another Apple product.

Were you syncing calendar events over the air with your iCloud account or syncing calendar events direct with a supported calendar app on your computer via the iTunes sync process?
If your planner is your life, not a good idea to depend on one device for your calendar events. They should be available on your computer as well along with the data included with your computer's backup.

Mac mini wiped out with no discs

I bought an old mac mini over the internet ,it have been wiped out clean of previous operating system and it came with nothing to booted up with , i have no idea what operating system was there original , how can i get started

Depending upon model the Snow Leopard disk you can purchase here may work

Otherwise you will have to call Apple and order at nominal cost the original still disk. You have to have give them the units serial number.

Nano library wiped out

Help..all the music on my sons 2nd gen Nano has been wiped out. When we attempt to sync it back up, we get an error message that says "Songs on the ipod Jakes Ipod cannot be synced because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
The songs are still on the library and are all checked..but they won't load because of the above error message.

For versions of iTunes from 7 onwards, the option to "update selected playlists" is now under the "music" tab in the summary screen.

Itunes preferences get wiped out with new updates

Under itunes preferences I like to keep my files organized and to copy over files when I add them to itunes. Every time i get an itunes update and download it, these settings get wiped out. It's really annoying. Any thoughts?

The best way is to have each library in a separate Windows User ID.

ITunes Library Wiped out to Nothing...HELP!

I have had an issue of my mini not being recognized in my iTunes although my library of songs, etc. was intact and all there.
I reinstalled the cd that came with my iPod, which says 'iPod' on the cd.
I think through this reinstallation, I completely erased all that was in my iTunes.
In 'My Music', the iTunes folder has my library on the computer, but even when I click on that folder, it still directs me to an empty library.
Please help me with how to get my library back in iTunes!!

I turned it off when I went to bed and when I turned the computer back on in the morning the Itunes software came up and all songs in my library except one I had purchased the night before were gone. Are all your songs still in the usual folder(s) on your computer? Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

If I ever wiped out my hard drive, how would I get everything back using time machine?

I will probably wipe out my hard drive eventually and I want to be prepared for it.

so my Mac Mini is getting very slow, and need to do a OS X clean install. I wouldn't want to loose my apps/folder arrangements on my iPad if I do a clean install on that Mac Mini.

computer info: G4 titanium Powerbook w/ 1.33 gHz (i think)/15" titanium/OS X.3.9
If it's a 1.33, it's an Aluminum PB. If it's a Titanium, then the fastest it could be is 1Ghz, and if it shipped with 10.1, it's a 400-800Mhz. It would be good to know in order to install the correct OS (you cannot install an OS earlier than the one the PB originally shipped with). It sounds like you were running 10.1 on this before - yes?
here's what i've tried so far.
1) erased the HD (zeroed out)
all the ones i found say to start up from the CD, which ain't workin' for me.
I don't understand, if you can't boot from the install disc or Target Disk Mode, how did you zero the PB HD? Do you have an OS installed on your FW HD?
If you're attempting to boot into FWTDM correctly and the PB's HD is not mounting on the host computer, then you have hardware issues, possibly the PB's HD. Is the external HD you have a 2.5"? If so, I would install it in the PB and see if that shows up.

They will be in whatever program/service you have been syncing. Just sync them back.
If you have failed to sync them with your computer/service regularly, as the iphone is designed, then they are probably gone.

My phone (an iPhone 4) was updated unexpectedly a few weeks ago while syncing, and a lot of things were changed. Having to arrange my apps the way I wanted them was a fairly minor annoyance - but my calendar entries before November are completely gone.
This is a huge problem. I need those entries to do my taxes. This is a disaster.
I have another problem: I recently completed treatment for Stage 3 inflammatory breast carcinoma. I'm planning to write about it - but without my calendar entries, I don't have all the information I need. Reconstructing it will be almost impossible.
