Libtool error in installation of Player/stage robotic simulator

Dear all,
I am trying to install the latest versions of the player/stage robotic environment from source (no updated AURs are available for stage, an old one for player). Installation works fine, but when I run the environment on a test simulation, the app runs into problems because libtool cannot find the proper libraries to load. This is the error message I get (from the player app):
error   : Failed to load plugin stageplugin.
error   : libtool reports error: file not found
error   : plugin search path: /usr/local/lib64:/home/stefano/Documents/Projects/Homeostat/Simulator:/usr/local/share/stage/worlds:/usr/local/lib64/
error   : failed to load plugin: stageplugin
error   : failed to parse config file /usr/local/share/stage/worlds/simple.cfg driver blocks
now, the stageplugin is contained in a library called libstage.so. It is located in /usr/local/lib64, which is on the search path the player program lists, as well as being in the LD_RUN_PATH and the  LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Since the same installation from source works fine in a recent Ubuntu box, I am thinking that there may be some peculiarities in the ArchLinux environment or in its configuration of libtool that may be responsible for the error.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Stefano

stefano wrote:The segfault you got  is probably due to a syntax mismatch between the version of player and the version of stage installed by the AUR package. Player is very finicky about the syntax of the configuration files (the .cfg file it loads at startup), and if some expression is not exactly as it expects it it segfaults.  In fact,  I was trying to install the latest versions from source precisely to avoid these kind of problems.
Thanks for explaining the likely cause of the segfault. I just picked what was in the AUR, so a syntax mismatch makes sense.
stefano wrote:However, your installation from the AUR packages avoids the libtool problems I am running into. Is there any way to find out, on the basis of the info in the PKGBUIKLD file, I guess, which configuration information I am missing when installing from source? I am new to ArchLinux, I am afraid, and I don't know yet how to do so myself.
I thought that by "installing from source" you meant "installing using AUR, not from the repos" ;P Now I get what you actually meant is "installing the latest version available upstream".
Apart from the PKGBUILDs that are in the AUR I have no idea about the configuration and the only thing I see is some sed magic:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/player/PKGBUILD
build() {
cd "${srcdir}/${pkgname}-${pkgver}"
sed -i s/lib64/lib/ cmake/internal/SetupDirectories.cmake
sed -i '1i #include <cstddef>' server/drivers/blobfinder/shapetracker/shapetracker.cc
sed -i '1i #include <cstddef>' server/drivers/blobfinder/upcbarcode/upcbarcode.cc
cmake . -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DCMAKE_SKIP_BUILD_RPATH=TRUE
make
[karol@black ~]$ locate libstage.so
/usr/lib/libstage.so
/usr/lib/libstage.so.3.2.2
So you can see, I have it installed in a different place - it's not in /usr/local/lib64.

  • Premiere Elements 11 Shared Technologies error DW020 Adobe Flash Player 10 plug in missing.

I am unable to complete the install of Adobe Premiere Elements 11 on my Windows7 Pro 64 bit system.  When the installation process gets to installing Shared Technologies I get an error message "The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies.  Please restart your system and try again."  Restarting the system gives the same result again.  The download assistant program identifies two errors: DW050--Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX: Install failed, and DW020: Adobe Flash CS5.5 depends on Adobe Flash Player 10 plugin to be installed.
My system currently has Adobe Flash player 11.7.700.224 installed.  I can find a download of Adobe Flash Player 10 but where do I put it?  Do I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player 11.7... ?  Is there another solution?

This install problem seems to be solved.  I uninstalled every Adobe program, but still couldn't get past the Shared Technologies issue.  Then I went to C://Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe/ and deleted all recent folders & files.  This seemed to do it.  Both Premiere Elements 11 and Photoshop Elements completed installation.  Now on to figuring out how to force Windows7 64 bit to run these programs in 32 bit simulation mode.

  • Adobe Illustrator CS3: Fatal error during installation

    Hello,
I just bought the AI CS3. It installed OK on my friend's laptop (windows). However, when I clicked the big button in the installation:
    "Install Adobe Illustrator CS3"
    A window showed:
    Initializing Adobe Illustrator...
    Then I got a message:
"Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe customer Support for assistance. Fatal error during installation".
I've tried several times. My computer meets all the requirements (it's a really new and faster PC). And there's no old versions of AI on it yet.
    Can anyone help? Thanks!!!

Do you have any other Adobe products on your computer? When I installed CS3 on my Mac, I kept getting failures. After contacting Adobe, they told me I had to delete ALL other Adobe products -- including Flash and Adobe Reader. Plus, I had to do searches and delete any support files associated with them. It took hours!

  • Itunes: Fatal Error During Installation (it wont download at all) HELP!

Yesterday my iTunes (7.3.1) was working with no problems then the iTunes + Quicktime upgrade came up telling me to download the newer version but I didnt want to download it yet untill after i restarted my computer so I exited out of both the upgrade screen and iTunes then restarted the computer and when I tried to open up iTunes (after restarting), a little window came up saying:
    +*Preparing to install...*+
Then after a minute or two it said: *+Please wait while Windows configures iTunes+*
Then another window pops up saying:
    *+Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\fi.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. +*
*+Verify that you have access to that directory.+*
and I have no idea what that means so i closed it then a pop up shows saying: *+Fatal Error During Installation.+*
so i deleted iTunes, Quicktime, iPod and everything i could (that my computer would let me) that had to do with Apple and restarted my computer then tried to download iTunes again but now when its reisntalling it says
    *+Error writing to file:+* +*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
+*Verify that you have access to that directory.*+
Then after this i went to the folder
    +*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
and made sure that Read Only wasn't checked but everytime i go to uncheck it and click Apply and OK it doesnt stay it just goes right back to being checked...because when u click OK the window goes away so i immediately opened it back up to see if changed but it was filled again
WHAT DO I DO?!?!? please can someone help me
The details for my computer are:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Professional Version 2002
    Service Pack 2

    if it helps at all...
I downloaded Quicktime seperately from iTunes and i got that with no problem and it worked just fine but i cant get iTunes at all
and i have follwed the instructions on the website about uninstalling everything but nothing seems to be working
...is there any possible way that anybody can help me out with this.
any help that anyone can offer is very greatly appreciated,
    Please & Thank You.

  • While installing itunes i am getting error "this installation package could not be opened.verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the appliacation vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

While installing itunes i am getting error "this installation package could not be opened.verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the appliacation vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • How to fix error: This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the applikcation vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

ERROR: This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the applikcation vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." I have tried everything which I found on google and apple community. Does anybody have the exact solution? PLEASE HELP!

What has this to do with the application Front Row which this forum covers?
What are you trying to install, on what Mac, with what version of OS X?
