Licence needed for Developer Studio ?

Hi all,
is a licence needed for installing SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio ?

You donot need a license for developer studio.
It is based on Eclipse which you can download and install without license anyway.
You will need a (developers) license for the developers workplace however. This is the version where you also run your local Netweaver J2EE. If you donot have a license, after 30 days or so the J2EE wil stop (approx. 30 minutes after startup) with an error message like: no valid license.
The license for the Developers Workplace can be requested like any other license. Your basis team will know the details.

Which Visual C++ redistributable package needed for Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 and 4?

Which redistributable package should be installed at the client side for binaries built with either Visual C++ 2013 Update 3 or 4?
From the Download Center, "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013",

My system, which has installed VS2013 Update 3, also has "vcredist_x86.exe" and "vcredist_x64.exe", at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\redist\1033", but these having a higher version number: 12.0.30501.0
A colleague of mine has installed VS2013 Update 4, but has the same redistributable files as my VS2013 Update 3 installation: version 12.0.30501.0.
Is it correct to conclude that
the VS2013 redistributables at Microsoft's Download Center (12.0.21005.1) are outdated?
VS2013 Update 3 and Update 4 based applications may share the very same redistributable package (12.0.30501.0)?

Maybe we cannot say it is not uploaded. We can see the package is named as
Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 Update 4
So the package may only specific for one version and does not mean it should have Visual C++ Redistributable Packages
for Visual Studio 2013 Update 2
If you want to report anything you can consider use Connect:

However I don't think we need to report this case on Connect.
For your last question, since the version 30501 seems to be the update version of 21005, I think you will not have them together. Anyway, for this particular VC++ runtime, I would recommend you keep it update to date.

Then you may get the latest features. And if you have any specific reason that you need a specific version, I think we can handle it case by case. For example, if you want to deploy you C++ application and you need a runtime version.

How Much space will I need for developing apps

I will be purchasing a MacBook Air most likely the $1109 with 64GB and 4GB RAM, I was wondering is 64GB okay for developing apps and personal use. I use about 18GB on my PC and I'm thinking I'll only need about 20GB MAX more, so 38GB used in total. Is the remaining amount good for developing apps, excluding XCODE itself, just the coding/ files needed?

If you need to run XP then since BootCamp no longer supports it, your only choice would be on of the virtual software packages to run Windows.

BASIS & ABAP SP 14
We also dont have Enterprise Portal and no PI or XI. can we develop BSP without EP?
I want to develop BSP. Can i do it? Do we need to install any thing else? any plug in..or do we need to upgrade our service pack?
We are on service pack 14 and on ABAP Stack.
Any plug in should be installed first? please help or provide some link whihc explains about the plugin's needed for our environmnet...

Hi Jess,
BSP development is pure ABAP. You don't need anything more than you would for any other ABAP development.
No plug-ins, no J2EE, no ITS, no XI, no Portal required.

Licences needed for e-learning.

Hi,
I am looking at this as an e-learning solution for up to 70 agents. Can anyone advise how the licencing works? Is it just the administrators (i.e. myself and my team) who need licences with the learners accessing their material from somewhere else? Forgive my non-technical language as I don't really understand the IT side - I'm the training manager so looking to cost it out before telling IT what I need!
Also, would anyone else who is already using it to deliver soft skills/compliance/technical training for a similiar number of users recommend any applciations to go along with it?

Depending on what kind of tracking of results or completion you need, you might also want to look into getting an LMS (learning management system). However if you have Captivate 5, it now has some tracking capabilities that you can get without having to have an LMS. If you search for Quiz Analyzer it should give you more information on that. That's what I am currently exploring for my organization.

Thanks a lot for your patience. Few more minutes of your valuable time..need help.
So i can conclude that with my environmet and ABAP statck ..i can develop Web dynpro ABAP and BSP but not Adobe Forms.
We have BI system in our office which runs on Java Stack and our ECC system is only on ABAP stack.
But we were using ABAP Web services to build interfaces b/w SAP and .Net applications and hence we wanted to use SOAMANAGER,
But SOAMANAGER runs on Java Stack and we dont have Java stack on ECC but have on BI.
So what we did was..did some BASIS settings in BI and ECC systems and finally able to use SOAMANAGER of BI system to manage , create and deploy web services from our ECC system whihc is on ABAP Stack.
Similarly can I also use the Java Stack in our BI system and do some settings at ECC end such that I can buid the interactive forms in ECC and use the Java Stack of BI system.
Kindly please help..i am not getting answers to such questions in help.sap.com...may be people like you who are well experience will only able to guide me better.

Hey Raji,
Oracle does not have the concept of breaking out Production, Staging and Developer licenses and you must purchase enough processors and users to cover all uses of the any licensed software, regardless of where / how used. Best bet is to reach out to your local ATG sales rep and they can walk through the exercise with you.

Web developers are anxious to build the help into their
application, but I'm not sure what files they need or do not need?
Do I just turn over all files to them, or some subset?

Assuming you are using RoboHelp HTML properly with all files
located on your C drive, you should notice that inside your project
folder are some sub folders. One should be named
!SSL!. Inside THAT folder should be a folder named
WebHelp. You need to supply *ALL* the files (and folders)
that you find inside this folder.

Creation of custom page without using NetWeaver Developer Studio

In my project, we have not installed NetWeaver Developer Studio. We are using EP 7.0.
We have to create a custom page for the project. In this page, we have to provide seperate iViews links.
The page should look like this:
iView 1 - Link                iView 2 - Link        iView 1 - Link
Help iView 1-Link        Help iView 1-Link     Help iView1-Link
I tried to do so by creating a page. In the page, I tried to use 'Three Coloumn Page' layout. The iviews are getting displayed in following way:
iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
Help iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
iView 2(iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
I can not display link of all six iViews. Further more iViews are getting displayed in one coloumn and 3 rows. I can see the iViews directly. I am not able to display links for iViews.
I need 3 coloumns and 2 rows layout.
Can you please let me know how to achieve this?
Whether I have to create new layout? For this whether we will need NetWeaver Developer Studio?
Can we do it by creating HTML page. In the HTML page, we will have many links. These links will point to the iViews stored in SAP EP's KM. If so, what be the steps?
I know that it can be done by creating a PAR file and deploying it. But, we don't have Netweaver Developer Studio.
Can we acheive above without using NetWeaver Developer Studio?

When user will click on any iView link, the relevant iView should be displayed. The iView can be displayed in seperate new page. So naturally five iView link will not be displayed.
I am planning to create one HTML page and store it in KM. I will call this page in portal content area.
There will be hyperlink on this HTML page. The hyper link will be attached to other iView links in KM.
Whenever user will click on any Help link or iView link the corresponding iView will be called from KM.
So in KM we will store 7 objects. 3 HTMLpages for help. 1 HTML page for main page.
Other 3 will point to iView-Link1, iView-Link2 and iView-Link3.
Can I do so? Will it sort out my problem?

How to get Developer Studio front end after installing NW 2004 SP16

Hello Friends,
I have installed NW 2004 - SP16. I can find the short cut in Desktop only for SAP Management console. Where to get the shortcut for Developer studio n SQL server.
I hope Developer studio is installed with sp16.
I have installed it in C drive. When I try to install ABAP stack in D drive, I am getting an error. Is this because already existence of Java stack.
