License Determination question.

Hi all,
After we create a license, will it be automatically assigned to a sales order depending on the strategies or we have to assign it manually?
In case of No license required or license exceptions, do we still have to create a license representing these in the gts system?
Thanks!
Raj

Hi Raj,
The system will require a "license type" for any product that does not have the "No Control" box checked on the product master.  For "NLR" products, if the license is setup to track items by quantity or value (or both), I would suggest creating a new NLR license (not license type) each year to avoid having one gigantic NLR license.
Cheers !

  • Country of License Determination

    Hi,
I have quick question on the "Country of Departure/Destination" for license determination
    What I understand  is
Country Combination with ECCN for License Determination - Standard  functionality GTS application.
1.ECCN + Country of Destination -> Exports - Sales Orders
I Understand that country of destination maintained in License will be compared with country of Ship-to Party(customer), Is this correct?
    2. ECCN + Country Of Departure -> Imports - Purchase Orders
I Understand that country of Departure maintained in License will be compared with country of Ship-from Party(Vendor), Is this correct?
    Thanks,

    hi,
generally you are right but also consider the following info:
Partner Group for Determining Country of Destination: The country of
departure/destination of the export is used on the basis of the partner
function contained in the document and in this partner grouping. The
first partner function which is contained in both the document and the
partner grouping is used. No further partner functions are checked.
    Example:
The partner grouping contains the partner functions end customer and
ship-to party. Assuming the document to be checked does not have an end
customer, the country of the ship-to party is taken to be the country
of destination for accessing the license type determination procedure.
If you have an import process, make sure that you have a vendor and it is assigned to the supplying plant for license determination.

  • License Determination for Imports

    Hello All,
We would like to implement a License Determination Strategy for imports. I have not tried it yet, because I am still awaiting final specifications from the user department. But before I can tell them, that we can do this in GTS, I was hoping to find out if anyone has been successful implementing.
Any thoughts, comments or actual experience out there?
    Regards, Dean

Dean, you absolutely can use GTS to cover that for you.  Creating the legal regulation itself is no different then anything else you already have for export.
The main differences for import are when you create the numbering scheme, you will want to use the create for Import lists instead of create for Export lists, and then when you create the determination strategies as well - you'll want to set the codes up as ICCN's for import in the Classification/Master Data area of Comp Management.  From there maintaining the strategy(ies) are the exact same as they would be for import, only again you'd be using Legal Control - Import as opposed to export.
Hopefully that helps a bit, I know I was pretty breif in the description.  Do let me know if it helps though or if you have any other questions!

  • License Determination

    Hi,
I have just started working in SAP GTS
Can you please tell me that how License Determination is done for a material?
I am getting this error while creating Delivery in ECC that license determination is not done in GTS.
    Thanks
    Neha

    Hi,
Licence Determination is one of the Compliance Check provided by GTS System.
For example in your export process.
Whenever you create a sales order(export document) in feeder system ECC, the GTS (host system) first checks whether the product you are selling requires a licence and if so you need to maintain licences in the system for such product categories which you get from the custom authorities. This goods which are subjected to license legal regulation are Civil & Military (dual use goods).
For this, you need to define legal regulations and classify products and configure/setupo for license determination process.
better..you study GTS help on SAP site..A bit long way to go, you can't just figure out like this.

  • License Determination in GTS

    Hi,
I am trying to configure License determination in GTS system. While I am using SAP configuration guide and Online Help links,I get to know that I need to start with configuring the numbering Schemes.
I am stuck at finding the transaction for "Assign Numbering Scheme of Exp List for License Maintenance", which is the second step in configuration.
Can anyone please provide me link to or any information on how should I proceed.
    Regards,
    Madhav

    Hi Madhav,
The path changed over the versions.  Try this IMGpath:
    Global Trade Services
    General Settings
    Numbering Schemes
Assign Numbering Schemes to Legal Regulations of the Application Areas
There you can assign the Numbering Schemes for the different purposes.
    Hope that helps.

  • Problem with License determination

    Hi,
I have just setup license determination strategy as per the config guide. But, in the cockpit -> Legal COntrol Exports -> Maintain License determination strategy, Isee only 2 tabs(small views) 1.Legal regulation and 2. License Types
Where are other tabs(views) like ECCN and Countries, what is the config which will enable to bring windows on to maintain license determination strategy.
And also I am even unable to see even Combo/ListBox below these views, with options like
    1. Country/Control Clss
    2. Country group / Control Classs...etc.
Where in config I have to set to see all this
    Thanks,

    Hello Denise:
For NLR license determination, I have created category "E" and maintained EAR99 as ECCN for the group.
And then assigned ECCN "EAR99" to the license type NLR and also products to that license
This is the way for NLR license determination.
    Hope this helps.
let me know you approach in detail if different from the one I said
    Thanks

  • Multi partner License Determination Capability in GTS

    Hi,
For export license determination, we have business  avaibale based on the combination of ECCN and Country of Destination
Destination country being either ship-to partner country or ultimate destination country in order of preference specified in partner function sequence.
But, I am looking for a functionality that license determination check should carried out for both partner functions.
    1. ECCN and Ultimate partner country AND
    2. ECCN and Ship-to Party partner Country for a single sales order.
Does anybody come across such situation/requirement in business which is a real time scenario.
Can anybody guide me on this front as how to achieve this eithwe by some enhancement etc, of config setting in GTS system
Any guidance on this is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Venkat:
    Thanks for response.
I have also seen in the SAP documentation, but it says that if the license is found for the first partner function in the group then it will not check the later one.
But, in my case the sales document has 2 partner functions in the group and as well as document, but it executes for only one, then my requirement is not fulfilled.
Actually, I will generate rules for both partner countries and both should be determined (Ultimate consignee ctry and Ship-to ctry) if the license determination rules is not found even for one then it should block.
It has to check for both license rules.this is my requirement.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Export License Determination for Non R/3 systems

    Hi Experts,
We have a non-R/3 system from where sales orders are created and sent to GTS for License Determination. We have developed an interface to load required details to create export declarations.
We would like to determine export license for the documents created in GTS. We have done all the settings required for License Determination but, still not able to determine license automatically.
Can anyone advise  is it possible to determine license without r/3 feed? If it is possible, what could be the additional check we have to do.
    Thanks,
    Sudheer

    Thanks for your reply..
The settings which i done was determining license perfectly when the export declaration documents are created with reference to R/3 documents (proforma invoice from R/3.
I am looking for manually created document only in GTS, how can we determine export license. Is it possible to determine export license?
    Thanks,
    Sudheer.

  • License Determination for Sales Return process

    Hello SAP GTS Experts,
We have a situation, where we need to create Return sales from Customer &
in the same Return order, we will send the repalcement product to Customer.
In this case, good movement type 653 (return sales) & 601 (Delivery to customer)
    will be used.
Can any one help to map this process under Compliance for License determination.
Logically, for Return item, Import License should be picked & for replacement item
    Export License under Legal Control.
Need your suggestons to map this process for License determination.
Similarly, we need to think about Subcontracting process in MM, & relevant license
    determinaton.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Mayank

    Thanks for your Reply Dave.
Requirement is for Country Sweden. Currently Whenever return sales order is created in ECC, system looks for Export License in GTS. As per Goods movements (653) Logic, Import License should be determined here.
Let me explain you the process in Details-- For Repair/Services Process,  these return sales orders are created. Here again there are 2 possible scenarioes:-
    1. We can return the faulty Item (Movement Type 653) & provide Repalcement product (MT 601) to customer .
    2. Return Sales order will be created (MT 653) & Faulty Item will be sent back to Vendor for repair (Using Return PO process, Movement Type 161).
Business wants us to provide Solution for Determining Valid Licenses (export/import) depending upon the situation.
Here We have Bigger challange when the Return Sales order has Both type of Items (Mention in Scenario#1).
Are you sure , there is NO Need of Licenses for replacement/rejection Process??
Please Let me know Your Inputs.

  • Upload License Determination Strategy

    Hello,
Does anyone has experience with the upload of license determination strategy? How does this work? Where can I find the appropriate XML structure which is used by the upload program?
    Thanks
    Regrds
    Frank

You may want to first consider how many license determination strategy records you really need.  At one client, they had over 40,000 determination records loaded.  I reduced this to 8, with no impact on their license determination results, but with a great impact on the ease of use and ongoing maintenance.  The simple solution is the best here and can support every country's regulations.
If you do still want to explore uploading strategy records via XML, the only company I know working on this is our partner MK Data Services.

  • OS Level and License Key Question?

Hi Everyone, new potential Apple user here.
I am going to buy 2 Apple G4 notepads for our children. I know they will not come with an OS so I my question is, is it like Windows where you have a license key on the bottom and you can use the same CD to install the OS on both machines and just use the License Key that comes with the Laptop or will have to buy 2 copies of the OS one for each machine?
Next question, is what is the highest level of OS I can go to?
Sorry if the questions seem a little dull.
    Thanks
    Martin.

Hey Martin and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
I am going to buy 2 Apple G4 notepads for our children.
It would help to know which model you're buying, especially the CPU speed since that will determine which OSs can be run.
.. like Windows where you have a license key on the bottom and you can use the same CD to install the OS on both machines and just use the License Key that comes with the Laptop or will have to buy 2 copies of the OS one for each machine?
There is no "license key" in Mac OS X land ;<). Get used to not having to type those ridiculously complex keys in at the 4 minute mark.
With the single user license you can officially load on one machine. With the family pack you can load up to 5.
<div class="jive-quote">Next question, is what is the highest level of OS I can go to?
In general all the G4 iBooks will run Leopard so 10.5.8 updated. The 12" 800 Ghz will run Tiger so 10.4.11 updated. That's official but the installer can be hacked to run in that machine.

  • Office 2013 Volume License Activation question

    Hello,
we have software assurance, so MAK and KMS are available for O2013.
I cannot use KMS server (there are reasons for now). So I have to use MAK. I know that it is possible later on to convert MAK to KMS.
I found topic about ADBA. But missing few points from the description after my 2 questions.
    1. Can I use KMS key for use with Volume Activation Tool without actually having KMS installed?
    2.  at the end it says just 180 days activation. What will happen then?
    From:
    http://searchenterprisedesktop.techtarget.com/tip/Using-Active-Directory-activation-and-other-new-Office-2013-tools
-------Prior to Office 2013, IT had to rely on Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or Key Management Service (KMS) activation. These processes were generally more complex than ADBA. Little has changed with either MAK or KMS in Office 2013. With ADBA, however,
    IT can easily
activate Office 2013 clients through their connections to the domain.
To implement ADBA, administrators must use the Volume Activation Tools utility, which walks them through the setup process. After admins supply the KMS host key, the setup process adds an activation object to the
Active Directory Domain Services. The activation object uses the same Generic Volume Licenses Key (GVLK) and KMS host pair as that for regular KMS activation. When the client joins the domain, the activation object automatically activates the Office installation,
granting a license to the client for 180 days. --------------

Q1) there is a KMShost product key, and there is a KMSclient product key.
The KMShost product key, you install this in your KMShost machine, and the client machines which have the KMSclient product key will contact your KMShost machine for activation.
Volume Licensed products are provided by MSFT with the KMSclient product key already installed. The KMSclient product keys are also publically available in the TechNet library documentation.
VAMT can be used, with or without KMS installed. VAMT is not part of KMS, and, KMS is not part of VAMT.
ADBA is not part of VAMT and VAMT is not part of ADBA.
ADBA can only be used if your AD is at the later version, and, ADBA only works for the latest products like Windows8 and Office2013.
If you have older AD or older products you will still need to have KMS or MAK.
Q2) after 180days, it's the same as KMS - the KMSclient (or ADBA client) will enter "non-genuine" mode if the client has not contacted ADBA object (or KMShost) to renew the activation status.
This wiki article I put together, includes a few helpful links about ADBA and KMS:

  • License key question with regards to upgrading from 7/8.1 to 10

Hi, I hope I've posted my question in the right area of the forum:
I understand that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Win7/Win8 users.
That's really wonderful but I was wondering what the exact mechanism with regards to our 7/8 license keys. Here's a couple examples to clarify my question:
first, example: I have Windows 7 Pro license and say I upgrade to 10 within the first year. Let's say I need to reinstall Windows after that first year is finished will I still be able to use that same license key I used to upgrade 7 to 10 to install a fresh
copy of Windows 10 or will I need to purchase a new license because the year is elapsed?
Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7... because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road:
where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
    Thanks for the feedback!

    Hi Momashi
Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7...
because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road: where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
If you Upgrade to Windows 10 and do not like it, for whatever reason.
Before you upgrade to Windows 10.
Create an image of windows 7 to an external HD and a recovery CD, using windows 7 Backup and Restore.
You can re-install windows 7 in the SAME SYSTEM using the recovery CD without using  a key.
    Hope it helps
Where did you get your outlandish information about a Windows 7 key turning into a Windows 10 key?  Nothing in the past has ever happened like this before, so what makes you think it will happen with Windows 10?
My Windows ME did not turn into a Windows XP key!
My Windows XP key did not turn into a Windows Vista key!
My Windows Vista key did not turn into a Windows 7 key!
    And so on!

  • VAT Tax determination- question about "Requirement" for Table-Is mandatory?

    Hi everybody,
I am having problems to determine the appropriate VAT tax percent in some cases in Mexico.
In Mexico for billing at the border with other countries the VAT tax percent is 11% and for billing inside the country the VAT tax percent is 16%. For determine the VAT tax percent the sequence access is MWST and is assigned to the condition type MWST.  For cover the border cases we create a table 989 with the fields: Distribution Channel/Plant and VK11 is fill out with this information. With these parameters is possible to determine successfully the VAT percent of 11% at border sales point.
The problem that I have is related to the u201Crequirementu201D assigned to the table 989: Distribution Channel/Plant. This table has assigned a standard requirement number 7- Domestic Business and when billing to a customer with address of MX (Mexico) as LAND1 at general data section of customer master data, the VAT tax percent of 11% is obtained successfully, because all the fields of the table are filled. But when billing to a customer with address of US ( United States of America) as LAND1 at general data section of customer master data, is not possible to obtain the correct VAT tax percent of 11% even all the fields of the table are filled.
I do not know if the problem is the requirement number 7- Domestic Business, but if I change for the requirement 8- Export Business then the opposite is occurring. For US customers the VAT tax percent is determinate successfully and for MX customers not, because the fields of the u201Crequirement u201Care not filled.
    So, I am wondering if:
    1.     Would be necessary to create a new requirement for combine the 7- Domestic Business and 8- Export Business requirements or exist one like this? I do not need to conditioning anything
    2.     What happen if I left in blank the requirement field, I mean if I do not assign anything. I was doing testing for both customers and the VAT tax percent was determined correctly. But I do not know if is correct do not assign a u201Crequirementu201D to the table of the sequence of access MWST.
Thank you in advance for your help!

OK I think I understand but here is where I am at now. I originally created a regulation that requires a license when shipping to certain countries out of the EU. I set the regulation as an Export reg did all the necessary config and was able to assign licenses automatically where needed.
Has I was testing the solution I could not find sales docs or deliveries for some of the materials and finally found out they are being moved on NB PO's.
So I changed the reg to include imports etc., classified with import control class etc. but I am seeing a couple things that don't make sense and tells me my config isn't quite right.
I finally do see that the system at least recognizes the new legal reg in the screening now. before this it had not. But it is still telling me it can't find any relevant country.
The other thing the document itself only shows under Display Existing Export Documents even though in the log it says it's an import document and when I go to the Import log there is no data.
Before I realized there was a note to change the Import to export on transfer I assigned the PO types to export orders and I am thinking that's why they are showing in the export list but I woul have tought that it would say it's an export doc which it doesn't.
    Any ideas?
