License for windows but I switched to mac

Hello, in december 2012 I bought Acrobat XI pro, Photoshop elements and Photoshop Lightroom all for windows. I now bought a MacBook Pro to replace my pc that is having huge troubles. I know that I can uninstall the suite to install it again to a new pc, but I do not know how it works when the new machine is a Mac. Thak you in advance for your help.

Dear Member,
thank you for your helpful answer. I tried and tried to reach Adobe but there is ono way to do so. No phone number, e-mail adress or chat available. In fact it is impossible to obtain any support from Adobe (for Acrobat).
Could you kindly give me a hint on how to proceed?
Thank you in advance

Unfortunately, no. the CS programs are platform specific. You have three options. Upgrade to CS6 and request a platform swap, in which case you will give up the Windows serial number. Second, you could buy a second serial number for Mac outright. Third, you can buy the subscription to Photoshop CC, which can be used on both Windows and Macintosh..

  • Hi, i wanted to resize my windows partion. I was thinking of using the default backup system for windows. Then switching to mac partion, deleting the bootcamp and then restoring a new enlarged partion from the backup. Is this possible?

    hi,
i wanted to resize my windows partition. I was thinking of using the default backup system for windows. Then switching to mac partion, deleting the bootcamp and then restoring a new enlarged partition from the backup. Is this possible?

I see youhave gotten recommendatons for using WinClone or CampTune.  I have used both and they both work well.
You have asked about using the WIndows 7 utility to backup your drive and restor it onto a larger partition.  I will tell you fro experience that this will probably not do what you want, and may do something that you don't want.  You can use the Windows 7 native backup tool to make a backup of your Windows 7 partition.  It will most liekly end-up making a dive image of the whole drive.  When yourestore that backup, it will try to re-create teh partitions of exactly the same size as they were when the backup was taken, so it won't increase your partition size for you.  Worse, since Windows doesn't natively know how to read./write HFS+ volumes, the backup will make a partition for your MacOS (replacing any you may have now), except that the copy restored by WIndows will be totally worthless, and you will not be able to boot MacOS from it, or even read it under MacOS.
Now I will tell you that I've also had some fairly good success working with the free tool CloneZilla.  Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, and everything else mentioned does cost you money, I thought I would throw it out.  CloneZilla is not as easy to use as the tools mentioned, but it has worked for me int hte past, so it is something to consider.  I tend to use CampTune myself, but that was because I purchased a bundle deal for them and it was included in that deal.

BTW the platform swap is for current version of Adobe software only, if you have older version then you may have to look for Cross-platform upgrade.

    Hi Dcee3,
Acrobat Standard has not been developed for Mac platform so Mac version is not available. It can only run on windows machine.

I went to the "genius" bar today and did a Restore on a MAC at the store but it still does not work. Archive & Install may be my only option. Post back if you are able to fix yours.

  • I have Creative Suite 6 Production Premium and InDesign CS5.5 for Windows, but I need the Mac versions of these. Is it possible to swap or exchange these products?

Does Adobe allow exchanging my Windows version of CS6 Production Premium and InDesign CS5.5 for the Mac version? (The CS5.5 box is unopened, and the CS6 is in mint condition.)

You might be able to do something for the CS6 product, but as far as the CS5.5 application goes it will not qualify.  See the following:

I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium about 1 year ago and love it.  But my Windows laptop has been fading so I bought a MacBookPro, that has enough power to run my CS6.  But my CS6 will not load on my Mac.  I paid a pile of $$$ for my Adobe, can I get a Mac version?
    Thanks

  • Same license for Windows and Mac?

Hi, I just got Production Premium CS6 for Windows, but I'm about to buy a Mac. Will my license work for both? Do I need to uninstall it for Windows when I switch to Mac? Do I need to purchase a completely different license?

    No.
The perpetually licensed Suites (which includes Production Premium) are platform specific: Windows only or Mac only.
The Creative Cloud is multi-platform. The same license works on Windows and/or Mac.

If you buy a new full Mac version (most expensive route) then no. You will then have a Windows only license and a Mac only license.
If you choose to "crossgrade" (swap the Windows only license for a Mac only license) then your Windows version will no longer be licensed so you'd uninstall that.
    ccccccory wrote:

Yes if you want to switch your Windows only CS6 to a Mac only CS6 - known as a "crossgrade".

  • I have the CS5 Master Collection for Windows, but want to convert my license to a Mac.

I have the CS5 Master Collection for Windows, but want to convert my license to a Mac. I already have the CS5 Suite installed on the Mac. What do I need to do from here? I tried reading up a little bit on this and saw some people said in order to do this you would also need to upgrade your product version. Please tell me this is not the case, as that would be the dumbest and most frustrating customer service move ever to already faithful Adobe purchasers...
Thanks for any help you can give!

Unfortunately, upgrading to CS6 or joining the Cloud are your only options.
Platform swapping (Win to Mac and vIce versa) is only available to CS6 owners.

Serial numbers for older versions do not work across platforms.
At one time, when the product was current, you could get Adobe to switch you to the other platform, but I don't know whether Adobe will do that for old versions.  I do know it's not going to work if you try to use your Windows license for a Mac installation.

  • I have a licence for Master collection 6 windows and I switched to mac. Can I switch the serial some

I have a licence for Master collection 6 windows and I switched to mac. Can I switch the serial somehow so I would be able to use it in my mac?

AppleWorks is not legally available for download. You would need to buy a copy. HardcoreMac.com still lists AppleWorks 6 on their website. You could also try eBay but you would need to make sure it is AppleWorks 6.2 or newer to install on OS X.
