License in Failover/Backup Portal - Ep6 SP2

Hello,
We run EP6 SP2 and we copy the database and portal server file system to different hardware as a diaster recovery method.  We we bring up the portal on this new server it loads fine, but it says that it is not licensed since the Hardware key is different.
Does anyone know if I can import a license on the current server with the hardware key of the DR Server so that it will be licensed when you start it?
Any ideas / suggestions?
Thanks,
Keith

Keith,
Kindly check note 181543 (License key for high-availability environment).

  • Looking for evalution download of EP6 SP2 for linux

Is it possible to find a evaluation version of the SAP Portal EP6 SP2 for linux. To evalutate and check the installation procedure.

Under downloads -> Webas there is a 640 release of the webas for linux.  Installing this is basically the same as installing the portal.

    Hello
    I have resolved it !!!
That's usually caused by the database not containing a valid config framework tree. In all cases so far this happened as part of the user killing the java vm in a situation where one should have waited for the cancel button to return.
I restored the target database with the backup
taken before started the migration and rerun the tool on
the target. You can continue to use the MigrationInput.zip file.

  • EP6 SP2 hardware key / installation number

    Hi all,
unfortunately the license of an EP6 SP2 has expired and I need to find out what are the hardware key and the installation number of this portal in order to renew the license.
As the admin pwd is lost and the sap* user/pwd combination do not work in order to log on to the portal and retrieve the system information via the system admin tab I am wondering if I can find both (hardware key and inst. no.) in the database or on the filesystem. If yes, where??
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated :)!
    Thanks alot in advance!
    BR Helga

    Hi Helga,
One way to enable SAP* is
    1. Copy your current sapum.properties.bak to sapum.properties (/usr/sap/XXX/j2ee/cluster/ume)
[ This would only work if this is the original sapum.properties when you initially installed.]
If you copy over the properties from the direct editing
(i.e sapum.properties is in sync with the properties in
the database )tab then set the following properties in the sapum.properties is set.
    ume.superadmin.activated=true
    2. Restart the server.
Side Effect: You have to redo the UM configuration
Now you can logon as SAP* and get the system information.
Alternative 1:( This may or may not work. I don't have access to the environment or documentation to check out.)
Through Visual Administrator see server license information.
    To Access the Admin documentation by the following URL;
    http://your portal server:50000/index.html
    Hope this helps

  • Repointing "Help" link to a different source in EP6 SP2

    Hi all,
I am using EP6 SP2 Patch 4 HF 7. I need to re-point the "Help" link in the top of EP6 SP2 to an different source. Presently it is pointing to http://help.sap.com and since mine is an intranet portal..cannot point to that.
Any idea where do I have to change the link ?
    Regards,
    Rajan.K

    Hi!
You can customize this link by editing:
Content Administration - Portal Content - Portal Content - Portal Users - Standart Portal Users - Default Framework Page.
In popup menu choose "Edit". Select "Masthead iView" and press "Edit" link. Then in "Property Category" choose "Navigation" and in "Help Link URL" enter link you preffer.

  • EP6 SP2 Jco / System Alias Question

    Hi all,
I'm developing a number of Iviews on an EP6 SP2 system connected to a 4.6C box.  I have two problems that I'd be grateful for some help with.
    1) How do I make use of the System Aliases set up in the portal via Jco ?
I know I can use the direct connection
    JCO.createClient("001", // SAP client
              "<userid>", // userid
              "****", // password
                 "EN", // language
                    "<hostname>", //
              "00"); // system number
but it would be much easier if I could use the configured System Alias called "UKSAP" which has been set-up in each Portal box.
    2) I believe that EP6 SP2 will not require connection pooling in the jco code. Is this correct ?
    Cheers
    Richard

    Hi,
We are trying to do pretty much the same thing you are, I am trying to get my Java iview to use the System Alias to connect to an R/3 JCO destination.
Could you elaborate on your findings in this regard. I am currently getting the following error : "Target for system alias SAP_R3_HumanResources not found in system landscape"
I have entered the connection info for this target into the jcoDestinations.xml and I've created a system in the portal with the alias SAP_R3_HumanResources...
    Thanks in advance,

  • EP6 SP2 Metaframe XP

We are currently experiencing Mayor problems on our Metaframe servers. When users access the Portal the portal loads up correcly. But as soon as they navigate within the portal it just refreshes the page it started up with.
Are there any browser settings that we should apply? We are running EP6 SP2.
Metaframe is runnning Windows 2000 Server, browser version IE 6.0.2800.1106
    Regards
    Richard

    HI, There.
Yes this problem has always been there since we moved to the metaframe environment.
However if we make any setting change on IE it works but as soon as you log off and log on again the same problem occurs. The portal works fine on all the other environment except the Metaframe XP environment.

  • Detailed Navigation on EP6 SP2 Patch27

    I just installed EP6 SP2 Patch27.
The EP system was installed using CD 51030419 without CM. And I installed patch 5 (J2EE 25) and patch 27 (J2EE 27).
When I logged on the system and clicked the menu in the detailed navigation, the script error message like below appeared.
    A runtime error has occured.
    Do you wish to debug?
    Line : 116
    Error : 'onNewHistory' is undefined.
But, after this popup error message, all functions seems to work correctly.
Is there anybody has an idea to resolve this ?

    Hello Jay,
I know this meesage was posted a long time ago but I am encoutering the same problem with the latest patch for SP2. The user would like to view the Enterprise Portal on a MAC machine and everything seems to work except the detailed navigation part. I tried also on a windows machine with a Netscape/Firefox browser and same problem occurs.
Did you find a solution? I would greatly appreaciate your help.
    Thanks in advance

  • EP6 SP2 ICrawler XCrawler

    Hallo all,
I want to implement a Crawler for EP6 SP2 and found out in the Java docs that ICrawler is deprecated for EP6 SP2 and that XCrawler should be used. But I can't find any information (e.g. java docs or sample coding) for XCrawler replacing ICrawler. Neither do I find the necessary libraries for implementing a crawler.
Could someone please point me to the right place to look for libraries/docs/samples? Or does anyone know something about ICrawler / XCrawler implementation on EP6 SP2?
Thanks a lot for any input on this!
    Best Regards
    Helga

    Hi Helga,
with XCrawler, it seems that (I)XCrawlerService is meant. In fact, there is no XCrawler class provided with EP6 SP2.
    For JavaDoc, see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/javadocs/nw04 sp9/km/com/sapportals/wcm/service/xcrawler/ixcrawlerservice.html
    Hope it helps

  • SAP Web Dispatcher in Front of EP6 SP2?

For increased network security, is it possible to put a Web Dispatcher in front of an EP6 SP2 J2EE engine?
The Web Dispatcher would be in the DMZ with the J2EE in the next layer of the DMZ.
If so, is is also possible to have a Web Dispatcher then XI server?
If the above are not possible, what is the best solution?
    Thanks.

If you are referencing SAP Web Dispatcher, then yes, your scenarios are possible. Usually, the XI server would be located where the SAP Portal apps would be. You can read,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/42/5cfd3b0e59774ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm
If you are refering to just a web dispatcher (ISA, IIS), it typically resides infront of your Apps (i.e. Portal, XI).

  • KM feature difference between Netweaver and EP6 SP2.

    Folks,
I need to come up with advantages of upgrading our EP6 SP2 ) environment to Netweaver stack. . I have heard a lot about it. I now need to document this.
Now I want to make a solid case of this to my Management and get their buy in.
Where can I find information where I can get a comparison primarily from a KM standpoint, and overall portal feature set.
Based on this I have to come with a ROI model that will help us migrate to Netweaver stack.
Any help would be appreciated. And I promise to return and reward the answers. thanx rj.

Pretty much everything is explained in here:
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/706005a3-3bd6-2910-91ae-a2016239bdcf">SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 – Overview of New Capabilities</a>
I think there's a weblog with a concise list somewhere, but I dont have the link saved.
    Hope that helps.

  • EP6 SP2 [WAS620] Can Connect with ECC 6 [WAS700] ?

    Here portal is EP6 SP2 [WAS620]
And Backend Server Upgrading to ECC6.0.
Is it possible to continue with Portal 6 with ECC 6 ?
Any specific SAP Note for this compatibility ?

    Hi Sumanta,
that depends on what you are doing. If you have for example "only" some SAP transaction iView that should still work.
Also other JCo based iViews will work -- you will however not be able to run the latest business packages for ESS (for example) because they require a EP7.
    Regards,
    Holger.

  • Webdynpro and EP6 SP2

    Hi
Can you use webdynpro applications with EP6 SP2 Patch 27 and above. This is running on J2EE 6.20
    Thanks
    Darrell

    Hi,
It depends on what are you mean by "running"
You can take WAS 6.40 ,deploy WD app on it, define this WAS 6.40 server on your EP6 SP2 SLD and then make an WD iView in you portal which will consume WD application from WAS 6.40. This means that all "buisness logic" would be performed on WAS 6.40 and you portal will only "view" the application. However you can use portal APIs (like Client Side Eventing) in this scenario.
On the other side you don't have a WD runtime on WAS 6.20, so you can't deploy WD application on WAS 6.20
    Hope it hepls.
    Victor.
