License tab in SU01

Hi All,
Can any one tell me regarding License tab in SU01 and how to use it, what type of license information should we enter in the tab. do we need to enter for every user?

Hi Ch!
To answer your question Inactive users are not considered under license count.
All the users who are locked by system admin/locked by expiration are treated as inactive users who are not considered under count.
You can run tcode USMM on any of your system to analyze the results, it will do no harm make sure you dont submit results to SAP.
Also user classification/setting up license types depends on your agreement with SAP which can last 2 thru 5 years what I saw with my clients. you can get a feel of available license types under tab 'User Types' in tcode USMM.
All users with developer keys are shown in SCCR user list.
Note: If a user logon id is not same on systems, that user will be counted separately.
John Smith: jsmith, jsmith1,.... will be considered separate and counted.

Users get administrator locked when updating license tab in SU01

Hello All,
We are using a custom program which updates the license tab of the users in SU01 through BDC based on their classification.
But when we run the program some of the users are getting a status updated as "Locked by administrator''. We have checked the program but no code is written to lock the users. Is there any relationship between updating the license tab and the user getting locked by administrator status.
Your replies will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
License information determines how active users exists in the system and SAP can charge for each of those dialog users after doing system measurement in USMM ,SLAW transactions.
Check SUIM,whether your administrator has locked any users who have left the company etc. Lcoked means,inactive.
It is advisable to keep expiry dates to users rather than locking,once the suer leaves the company.

Default License Type in SU01

Hi experts,
We have recently had a change in our licensing agreement such that almost all of our users (approximately 99%) will be assigned to one license type going forward. With respect to creating new users with this license type, is there any way to default the license type in SU01, so we don't have to fill out this field every time (since all users will now be created with the same type)?

Thanks. I had seen that and read it several times. I reread it again. It's still not what I'm after. It looks to be a work-around to not having USMM access and was not actually implemented. I have the needed USMM access.
Let me phrase my issue...
On Production, I start USMM. In the lower half of the screen, I slect the "Price lists" tab. Only the "SW Component Price List" is checked. The "Default User Type" shows "Operational."
I want it to be "SAP Business Warehouse User." Thus when new users are created through SU01 the new user creation process will not have to include changing the license type from "Operational" to "SAP Business Warehouse User."
Ultimately I just after having each new user created as an "SAP Business Warehouse User" when nothing is done through the SU01 license tab.

Change documents for DEFAULTS tab in su01

Hi all!!
Somehow SPOOL CONTROL option-> output device for a user changed(under SU01--> DEFAULTS tab) in my Production system.
Question> can i find out change documents for DEFAULTs TAB in SU01 for a user ID?

In fact I was believing the same.
I was wondering if we could add one new column to sap standard tables which will store any change documents specific to defaults tab for users. But no idea how lengthy this could be!!
Any suggestions???

Use of Parameters tab in SU01

Can anybody please provide information about the exact use of Parameters tab, user groups tab in SU01.

Parameter has fields that a user wants to get auto filled when he open some Tcode. This field can be filled with proposed values from SAP memory using a parameter ... According to SAP User parameters supply defaults to SAP fields. If a field is indicated,the system automatically fills in the default value. Depending on the field definition, the entry can also be replaced with a value entered by the user.The two input fields on the parameter maintenance screen are described briefly below.
Parameter: Enter the parameter ID for which you want to define a default value. You can display all of the parameter IDs defined in the system by choosing F4.
Value: Enter the default value for the parameter.
In other words, you can use it to create defaults for that user specifically. The challenge now is to figure out which parameter do what and for that I don't have much information. If anyone has it please share
with us.
User group can be used for different reasons and in different way.In the latest versions of SAP, actually two types of usergroup exist, the authorization user group and the general user groups. User Groups also allow segregation of user maintenance, this is especially useful in a large organisation as you can control who your user admin team can maintain - an example would be giving a team leader the authority to change passwords for users in their team. The most important factor identified is that the lack of user groups is an indication that there may be problems with the user build process. This is very "fuzzy" but is a bit of a warning flag

SNC tab on SU01 - make it invisible or uneditable

You can use the same approach (transaction variant) as in your previous question about the SMTP address, particularly if you have already made that change.
Other options you might want to take a look into:
- If I remember correctly, the check in SU01 SNC tab is the same as the check in SNC1 => it is checking the maximum authority. They user needs * for the user group of object S_USER_GRP. Please check that to see whether exclusing something will prevent use of it completely.
- I heard about BAdI's which have replaced the previous user exists in SU01. Perhaps one of them are capable to influencing the visibility of the tabs, now that SNC is always visible.
- Use SU01D for everything, and create your own little user administration transaction to do that which you still need SU01 for (considering that SSO and user provisioning replaces much of it's work, as per your previous questions). Roles can be assigned in PFCG.

Naveen, though you marked the question as answered, there is another alternative (needs change mgmt involved)-
1.Go to the field where you want the parameter ID to appear.
2.Go to the technical help for the field. In this case the Contractual User Type field.
3.Double click on the Screen data screen number (0112).
4.Click on the Element list tab and look for the screen field (from previous page). It is important that you find the entry with a type of I/0 not Text (US930-USERTYP).
5.When you find the entry click the special attributes tab. There are two columns on the right hand side GET Parameter and Parameter. The GET column needs to be selected for the parameter ID to be active.
6.Note if you change a field it is important to activate the change in addition to saving or the change will not take effect.
7.Probably you would like to make this change in the development system and move transport to other systems.
After this you have to set this parameter in your user master to the required value.

Parameter tab in SU01

I agree most of the time they are irrelevant and the only thing they do is to populate the default data in the fields but I have seen instances where they impact security.
One of the custome t-code was not working for us even though we gave it all the auhtorization needed and it was not coming in the ST01 trace as well. Finally we found after debugging it that abap code for it is picking values from USR05 table and that is the reason it was not working.
only when the parameter value was provided the user get the authorization to execute that t-code. So I would say sometimes they can be used with security implication and relevance.

Personalization Tab in SU01

Is there an easy way to maintain a Personalization Object Key for multiple Users (specifically looking at BBP_WFL_SECURITY in SRM) or to maintain the default value?
The Personalization Tab isn't available in SU10 and the fields aren't recognised when writing an eCATT (probably because the fields aren't part of a Table Struct).
Any ideas...?

You can also maintain personalization keys on the Personalization tab of roles, and then assign the role to the users (or find a common one already assigned to them for which the key is relevant and add it there).

I am trying to pull the list of entries I have in the "Contractual User Type" drop down list in the "Licence Data" tab in SU01
How can I get this list in a spreadsheet format quickly?

Hi Corinne,
The entriy on License Data at SU01 is to be used with transaction USMM - System measurement. You might be able to get a list out of USMM.

Roles tab is empty in SU01

I have a strange problem in my R/3 4.6 system.
Suddenly the roles tab in SU01 stopped displaying the roles. However, I still can see the associated profiles in the Profiles tab. No new support packages or OSS Notes installed.
When I go to Edit mode and add a new role, it is removing the existing profiles too.
Appreciate any answers.

look like a total loss of user/role data in the system, so probabaly the best (and maybe the only) solution.
Let the basis admin create a userbase export in your Q or P system (first check which system is best) and import it back into your system.
an other option:
create print screens of your Su01 role assignmnet and then manually reassign the roles.
One long shot (but you might lose all info this way) Let basis run the table reorg job in background.
Anyway i have never heard of this error before and hope you can restore the sitiuation. If not let the users know what went wrong and see that you can recreate the system with their help. Would suggest to create an OSS message asking SAP for help.

User license mass change

We need to classify many of our users in many systems as multi-client.
If you do an individual SU01 change on the license tab then multi-client is an option on the drop down.
However if you do a mass change (SU10) the multi-client is not on the drop down!
The same problem applies if we try to do a mass change with the system measurement transaction USMM i.e. multi-system is not on the contractual user type drop down.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out where the SU01/SU10/USMM contractual user dropdowns are controlled?

You will need to look at the config of the IO group to see which fields can be changed.
Make sure the relevant fields can be changed.
Then perform a LSMW on the change IO Master
This will allow you to perfrom a mass change on the IO.

License_Type in SU01

Hello Experts,
I need to change the License Type for a group of users.
When i tried to change the License Type for one of the users in SU01 from License Data tab, I could not find the License Type given by my client.
I Tried to check in USR06 table using F4 for the field TypeID, but could not find it.
Please let me know the table in which this License Type data is stored and also please tell me how to create a new License Type if I require to created one.
Is there difference to the Tab License Type in SU01 screen from 4.6c to ECC6?

Hi,
Go to transaction USMM and click on tab User Type. Check whether the License type provided by the client is present in the list and if it is Active. If not you need to activate the License Type.
