License Transfer CS5

I have CS5 on a laptop that is on it's very last legs.  I also have a new computer which I would like to run my existing CS5 on.  It is registered to my email address but when I log on to My Adobe, it says "You have no registered products." and will not give me a serial number (of course I have lost my original) But I did go through the registration, filled out my name and the whole bit.  Am I doing something wrong here?

You can only change with current version.  So you would have to upgrade to CS6 for Mac.  If you subscribe you can use either platform.

How can I transfer CS5 from my old PC to my new PC?

You can download the trial version of the software from the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site.

If you do not intend to use the older machine any longer, you should consider deactivating it and uninstalling it from that machine.  If you think you might need the option to use it, you are allowed to maintain two licensed installations.

  • Trying to transfer CS5 from Vista to Apple Imac

    HI.
I purchased Photoshop CS5 in July 2010, I was using a Medion pc running Vista . On 30th may 2012 i phoned yourselves (case no.0208471813) to say that i was going to replace my failing computer with an Apple Imac & wanted to know if i could transfer my CS5 from Vista to Imac . I was told yes i could but it could only be done once, since then my computer has died & i have bought an Apple Imac. I phoned yourselves today to find out what i had to do to transfer CS5 over & to my amazement i was told that you could not do it because CS5 has been replaced with CS6. I am very disappointed that you didn't advise me when i made my first enquiry that this would not be possible once CS6 was available. So i am asking again is there any way that this programe can be transfered over as this was not a cheap item and i cannot afford to purchase CS6.  I have a Mac OSX  version 10.7.4. with 4GB memory.  I am sorry that this was such a long message . with regards  Gary Hampson

First of all, you are not addressing Adobe here.  We are all users just like you in these user-to-user forums.
The license is totally platform specific, and so is the program itself.  The Windows serial number is no good on a Mac version.  The binary itself only runs on a Windows box.
Before CS6 shipped, you could have arranged with Adobe customer service for what Adobe calls a "cross-grade" at a nominal cost by providing a letter of "proof of destruction" of your Windows copy and deactivating said Windows version.
CS5 is no longer being sold, so your only path is to get a "cross-grade" to CS6 by paying the upgrade price.
If you wish to pursue your case, you need to call Adobe on the phone.  There's no one here in this forum who can help you.

  • Creative Suite license transfer

Another Creative Suite license transfer question I'm afraid:
I no longer have use for my Creative Suite 5 package and am looking to sell it and legitimately transfer the license. However, it is an upgrade of an upgrade of a full product, the path being CS1 Full > CS3 Upgrade > CS5 Upgrade. I still have all the boxes, discs etc for the CS1, CS3 and CS5 packages and intend to sell them as a whole. (I understand it is not legal to split them and I have no intention of doing so.)
My question is is this allowed? I.e. can I sell my CS5 Upgrade as long as it is accompanied by the previous upgrade and full product?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can perfectly sell your upgrade version as long as you include all previous versions.

  • How does one transfer CS5 actions for use with CS6?

CS6 installation, which was uneventful, has transferred none of my actions from my copy of CS5. The CS5 actions are located in the actions folder of the APPLICATION/PHOTOSHOP CS5/PRESETS/ACTIONS.  The "actions" folder in application support/adobe in my library is empty, and has always been so.
Only the CS6 default actions are located in the same folder for CS6.
    I use imac i7, lion.
Note that i also have CS3 and CS4 on my machine. This due to recent upgrade to CS5 and recent upgrade to LION, and my general paranoia.
Must i load each action into CS6, one at a time?
    thanks to any and all.

Re: how does one transfer CS5 actions for use with CS6?
On a Mac - There are multiple ways to do this.  I have done them both ways. In order to do this you need to know where you have your actions stored, and you can move them all at once if you have them stored in the same location.
    1. You can load an action ONE AT TIME into your actions palette by:
         A. Open up the action palette and click on the little arrow with 4 little horizontal lines next to it on the upper right corner of the actions palette.
         B. Select "Load Actions" and a Finder window will open up and you can search your computer through this window for your actions.
         C. Click on the action from the Finder window then click 'Open' at the bottom right of the finder window.
         D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens- click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the          actions are currently stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window.  I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.
    2. TO MOVE MULTIPLE ACTION SETS AT ONCE
         A. Open up CS6 (or CS5) and move the Photoshop workspace it to the right side of your computer screen so you can see your desktop on the left side.
         B. Open up your Finder search window from your dock (the square blue head icon thingy for those who are new to photoshop). Move this to the left side of your screen so you can see the Photoshop work space on the right and the Finder window          on the left. In the Finder window, navigate to the file where all your actions are stored, select all the actions in the file (command+A will select everything in the file if you are actively inside the open file) or you can select multiple files           individually by continuously holding down the command key and clicking on the different actions you want to move.
         C. With the Photoshop workspace visible on the right, and the actions palette open so you can see that the actions actually transferred - In the Finder window, click the selected actions you want to load and drag them over to the Photoshop           workspace.  I did this without an image open, I just dragged them onto the empty workspace.  The actions should all appear immediately in the actions palette that is open.
         D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the           actions are stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window.  I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.
    I hope this helps.
and I hope there are no typos.

Good to know - Here you have the user-2-user forum for "Adobe Reader".

  • Production Premium CS6 license transfer to a new PC

I would like to retire my old iMac and purchase a newer model. Especially using Production Premium CS6 as my old iMac is really struggling to process and render. I am currently running a student license version of Production Premium CS6 and a full license version of Design Standard CS6. Could I transfer these licenses to a new iMac?
    Thanks for your help
    Lloyd Wright

    Hi Lloyd Wright,
You need not worry about the license transfer as both the platforms are MAC OS.
Just make sure that you deactivate the programs before you install the products on the new machine.
To deactivate launch any program from the suite & go to Help>Deactivate.
    Thanks

  • Transfer cs5 to new disk

the hard disks in my computer are hdr  i wont to up grade to ssd for both the main disk and the scratch disk is it possible to transfer cs5 from the hdr to the ssd ?? if so how do i do it with out loosing the program

When I upgraded to SSD I backed my entire system up to external USB drive, swapped hardware and restored the backup.  I've been using this system for a year since then without any problems.
I did have have to call Adobe to get Photoshop activated again.  Consider deactivating Photoshop before making the backup.

  • Photoshop Elements license transfer

No place to contact Adobe FIRST. I can print the license transfer form, but nowhere to contact Adobe FIRST to get a case number.

All sounds good, but NOT. In the License transfer process, is Contact us to obtain a case number, NOT what you said. Then the Contact us puts you into support: Need help, start here. Then pick the product, then pick tell us what you want help with. In that selection there is NOT help to find to obtain a case number for transfer. So, dead end. Help at Adobe is NOT help at Adobe.

  • Macromedia License Transfer

I'm currently using an absurdly old verion (MX) of Macromedia Studio; as a home hobbyist in the UK I can't afford to buy current retail versions. I bought Studio MX secondhand when Macromedia was in existance and their licensing department transferred the license for me.
I've found a secondhand retail version of Studio 8 which I could afford but only want to buy if I can legally own and use the product. I've found suitable instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/transfer-product-license.html#main_Macro media_branded_products and could ask the seller to complete a license transfer form. However, the instructions for transfer require that the product be registered with Adobe and the seller is unsure whether the product is actually registered. Is there anyway I can legally buy and own this product?
I've had live chats with Adobe representatives but essentially they simply seem to fall back the the "it's no longer a supported product" approach and I can't get a straight answer; equally Adobe seem to do their utmost to prevent you contacting them by email so I can't get hold of their licensing people for a conclusive answer.
Does anyway know whether I can still buy second hand Macromedia software legally or is there a contact within Adobe that I could ask? I'm not sure that this is the best forum, but there doesn't seem to be one specifically for licensing issues.

The product I'm looking at is a genuine boxed retail product, so not pirated and will a legally transferable license; I'm not worried about dodgy software, I do however want to be legally licensed and don't know how to go about this.
The instructions for Macromedia license transfer state that the products need to be registered with Adobe but my MX license vanished from my Adobe profile years ago so I'm not sure that any Macromedia products anywhere will still be registered; is it still possible to legally buy second hand Macromedia software?
I appreciate that the software is ancient but I'm only a tinkerer and just manage a simple charity website;Studio 8 would still be a step up.
The CS2 link above states that the software can only be used by someone who legally owns the software, which I don't.
