License WCS (Wireless Control System) Problem to install

Hello,
I'm Christopher, I have a need to update the WCS and license this, but when I perform the load operation, this throws me this message.
"You must have Base a license in order to install an upgrade license"
How I can fix it?

Hi Christopher,
Base license should always be installed before you can upgrade license count.
For ex if you buy 2 AP's initially and got WCS license with them and installed then on WCS.
Now after few days you buy few more AP's and want to add them to WCS you won't be able to do so unless you have base license. So please contact license team to get base license(Only needs to be installed once not everytime.)

I'm trying to see the old alarms from WCS, I mean on top of the screen displayed Alarms summary specifically critical alarms (red triangle) when these alarms are resolved which is the record that there ever was this alarm
can any one help my thanx

    Hi,
You may be able to find back cleared alarms through an advanced search, by choosing Alarms as a Search Category and maybe other parameters such as Clear as a Severity.
    Hope this helps,

  • Wireless Control System Error Msgs.

    Hi,
I have a problem with Wireless Control System (WCS v7)  WCS-STANDARD-K9 and installed with WCS-PLUS-100 (installed two licenses) so total licensed installed is for 200 Acesspoint's in WCS. I have 149 AP's connected to WCS and its shows error " System is in voilation of license. The number of APs (149) registered is greater than licensed (0). Please go to the license center under the Administation Menu to add additional WCS licenses.
What would be the reason for this error,? Thanks

If you go to the license center in WCS, do you see a total of 200 AP support. You need to make sure you have a base license before you add additional plus license. I had an issue before, where I added a whole bunch of plus license after I installed a 250 base. I had 400+ APs and ran into the same issue but I had 250 base. Well I forgot to add the other 250 base so I had to remove all the plus license before I could add the other 250 base. Then I had to add all those plus license after that. The license center will tell you exactly how many APs it will support. From what you posted, it looks like you have 0.

  • Wireless Control System Software

I could use some recommendations from the forums here. I have an 8-story apartment building in which the building management wants to install wireless to cover everyone and every floor. They also want to be able to manage all the APs from a centralized location. Obviously, a challenge since this is a new building and I can't do a site curvey yet.
But here's what I'm thinking from a theoretical standpoint. I'd probably want as many 1242AG access points as needed for actual coverage (anywhere from 2-20), since they handle lots of walls, etc. better than most other APs. I'd also want a 4402 WLAN Controller for handling anyone moving around, etc. Finally, I'd need the Wireless Control System software running on a server connected to the WLAN Controller.
First of two questions: does this all make sense to you, or am I over (or under-) thinking this?
Second question: I've found plenty of places where we can purchase licenses for the Wireless Control System software, but where is the software itself? Is it a free download with no licenses? Or does it come with the 4402 or something?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
You maybe don't need WCS - it's an nice extra, but you can just get a 4400-series controller and some APs and still configure security policies etc centrally and have the RF side of things auto-managed.
I'd get a 4400, and I'd get 1000-series APs (1010s if you just want built in antennaes or 1020s if you want to add external ones - 1010s should be find in most scenarios).
I've not used any 1200 series with the controllers yet, but heard reports of problems and the LWAPP firmware for these is pretty new - probably best to stick with the tried and tested ones for now.
Just leave yourself capacity on your 4400 controller for more APs in case you have some poor coverage areas, you can then just chuck up another AP to plug the hole, as it were...

  • WAP200E and Cisco Wireless Control System

    Hi.
I have a customer with a linux OS machine running Cisco Wireless Controll System.
He needs are to add a new wireless AP with the following features :
    - compatible with most laptops
    - exterior conditions "resistant" (sun, rain...)
    - reasonnable performance (the AP would be a a roof with people on the roof itself, max distance : 15 meters, no walls)
    AND
Which product would you recommend ?
I saw the WAP200E but I have no idea
    - if it is compatible with Cisco Wireless Control System
    - what antenna(s) to buy

    Hi Yves,
The WAP200E is not compatible with the WCS.
    1.  How high (in relation to the client) is the AP going to be installed?
    2.  How is the AP going to be installed?  Will it be hanging down?
    3.  Do you need Cisco CleanAir?

  • Cisco Wireless Control System need wireless Lan Controller ?

Cisco Wireless Control System need wireless Lan Controller , for Rogue detection

    Hi Joao,
The WCS is used in conjuntion with the WLC (Wireless Lan Controller) for Rogue Detection. It is not a must for this function but more of an add-on :)
The Cisco WCS is an optional network component that works in conjunction with Cisco Aironet Lightweight Access Points, Cisco wireless LAN controllers and the Cisco Wireless Location Appliance.
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6305/index.html
    Overview of WCS
The Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS) is a Cisco Unified Wireless Network Solution management tool that adds to the capabilities of the web user interface and command line interface (CLI), moving from individual controllers to a network of controllers. WCS includes the same configuration, performance monitoring, security, fault management, and accounting options used at the controller level and adds a graphical view of multiple controllers and managed access points.
WCS runs on Windows 2003 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4.0 and AS 4.0 servers. On both Windows and Linux, WCS can run as a normal application or as a service, which runs continuously and resumes running after a reboot.
The WCS user interface enables operators to control all permitted Cisco Unified Wireless Network Solution configuration, monitoring, and control functions through Internet Explorer 6.0 or later. Operator permissions are defined by the administrator using the WCS user interface Administration menu, which enables the administrator to manage user accounts and schedule periodic maintenance tasks.
WCS simplifies controller configuration and monitoring while reducing data entry errors with the Cisco Unified Wireless Network Controller autodiscovery algorithm. WCS uses the industry-standard SNMP protocol to communicate with the controllers.

  • Can Wireless Control System Send Alarms As Traps to a trap receiver

Can the Cisco Wireless Control System be configured to send its alarms as SNMP traps to a specified trap receiver ? if so how is that capability configured ? is it thru Notification Receiver ?

Yes, it can. And yes through the Notification Reciever. Pity though, it can only send traps in regards to Guest Account Activity such as guest association and authentication.
Hopefully future versions of WCS will be more versatile in that regard.
    Cheers

  • System problems after installing iphone & itunes

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a weird problem with their computers after installing the iphone & itunes.
Up untill i got the iphone, my computer was working fine. Now about every 15 - 30 mins, i get a few seconds of static sound from my speakers, and my monitor flashes in a way i can only describe as static on a tv screen.
i've been trying to figure out what the problem is, and thought it was just my copy of windows xp, then i noticed that every so often, my iphone will buzz either right before or right after the static hits my computer. I've also seen the same thing on another computer running windows vista, so at this point, i don't think it's the computer, and the issue never occured before installing the iphone.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot what is causing this, (or at the very least stop the static sound from the speakers so that it does not interfere with my music).
Any help would be appriciated, this is currently the biggest problem i have with the iphone.
    thanks,
    r.

Hi - yep, it's your phone causing the problem. But this isn't unique to iPhones, many (most?) cell phones will create this problem when placed near certain other electronic devices. I haven't been able to put my cell phone on my nightstand for years because it makes the radio/alarm clock buzz.
I don't happen to have problems with my iPhone near my computer screen or speakers, but it makes my alarm clocks and my cordless home telephones buzz like you described.
I believe the cell phone is essentially connecting to the mother ship to establish a signal! Like I said, this isn't unique to the iPhone. Just move it away from your screen/speakers and you'll have fixed your problem

  • Wireless Control System Question

    Hello ...
Can someone tell me how I can see a list of clients connected to a specific access point using the WCS?  I cant seem to find the location in WCS that provides this info.
Also - can I specify which AP the client connects to via the WCS?
    Thanks,

Go to the search box and enter the AP your your choice.  You'll get an option of either Monitor or COnfigure.  Choose Monitor.  Choose the AP of your choice.  Go to the fourth tab:  Current Associated Clients.
Also - can I specify which AP the client connects to via the WCS?
Specify a different SSID and configure AP Groups.  YOU can configure your clients to connect to a specific AP.

  • Wireless control system

hi! If i did not select the "Apply to AccessPoint" during the creation of new controller template process wizard thru the Controller Template Launch Pad (assuming that i;ve successfully applied the template to wlc), will i be able to apply/see the AP in the Lightweight AP template creation (select APs tab)? What's the different between adding the AP in the controller template launch pad and Lightweight AP template creation page? Must i include the AP into the controller template launch pad before i can see it in the Lightweight AP template creation page?
    Thx

    Hi,
if I understood correctly what you were talking about, applying a template on APs through the controller launch pad applies it to all APs currently associated to a controller while selecting APs manually in the AP template launch pad applies it to selected APs regardless of the WLC they are on.\\
How do APs appear in the select list of the templates ? Simply by WCS knowing them, so usually by being associated to an WLC that WCS knows.

    1. The scrolling, as far as I've been able to determine, is by using the slide bar to the right of most diplays. There are no up or down arrows that allow slow movement
    2. The top and botton toolbars are not visible. The top one appears when you point the arrow to the top of the screen but the same doesn't work well if at all pointing the cursor to the bottom.
    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.
4I was trying to installMacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3. I got message it couldn't be installed on my system.
    5. The red yellow and blue bullets that allow shutting down, minimizing and maximizing are missing on most open windows.
Can you do something about these problems
It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems

It will make it easier to help you w/ your problem to know the  size and RAM installed.
"Yesterday I couldn't update the maps on my Garmin because it said the OS I had wouldn't work"
What OS will your Garmin work with? Funny there was someone else that did that and upgraded to Yosemite and regretted it.
I'd say Lion if your Garmin is compatible.
Both Lion and Mountain Lion are downloadable from the Apple Store:

Try downloading the trial. It ought to detect that you have a 64-bit system.
You aren't using Vista, are you? PSE 13 requires at least win 7 and I think a few folks with vista have gotten a similar error message on trying to install it.
