Licensed Fonts embed

Good Day,
I am using Mac Pages to create my novel and licensed a specific font to embed into IBA and Epubs from Pages.
I've read in the forums, it's print and save to a pdf that will embed the fonts? I read also Post Script is the only way? IBA doesn't support outside licensed fonts? It get's confusing and looking for the right answers.
I've tried PDF save then into IBA - shows only the front cover. It's says in help section Pages or Doc. How do I embed a font into Pages or Doc?
Has anyone had success in embedding a licensed font into IBA and Pages Epubs export?
Thanks

You can't embed a font in .pages or .doc format on a Mac, it's not supported.
Creating a PDF will normally automatically embed the font.  You can check it for yourself by opening the pdf with Adobe Reader and looking at File > Properties > Fonts.
Creating a document in .ibooks format will normally automatically embed a font as long as it is a .ttf or .otf font, and as long as Font Book > Preview > Show Font Info says Yes after Embeddable.  To test it you can of course view the .ibooks file in iBooks on an iPad.
For creating .epub format with embedded font, just search google for "epub font embedding"

  • Licensing font for print magazines

    I want your help about licensing the use of a font for a print magazines. What type of licensing does this fall under?
    Thanks.

    You can find all the information about fonts licensed from Adobe (including fonts bundled with Adobe applications) at:
    Font licensing information, end user licensing agreements | Adobe
    There is no restriction against use of any Adobe-licensed font in any print media to answer your specific question. Obviously, though, you can't “give” the font files to the printer or publisher, but you can embed them in print-ready PDF, EPS, and PostScript files.
    Note that for fonts from other font vendors (i.e. not Adobe), other licensing requirements including higher cost licenses or even royalties may apply.

  • Create a pdf with all the fonts embed in indesign CS6

    Hi,
    I created a ps from Indesign CS6 & CS7 with all fonts embed,
    and drop it on to distiller and made a PDF. Where upon font seem to split into outline, but random as done files for this job and no dramas at all using same fonts/indesign and distiller setting.
    any ideas to resolve this?

    Hi Evoteam,
    Please check the Distiller PDF settings and make sure Embed fonts option has been checked.
    Hope this helps.

  • AS3 font embed height issue

    This is probably the weirdest font embed problem I've had in years...
    I'm using Flash CC. Whenever I use an embed font I get this weird result.
    On the left I'm using a system font without embed, on the right I just switch to an embedded font in the library. Nothing else changes. I'm doing everything by code. The height of the TextField and the textHeight property changes, depending on if I use an embedded font or not. It doesn't matter what font I embed, I have tried many different fonts with the exact same result.
    I have tried changing the leading property in the TextFormat object, but there's always some sort of padding at the top of the textField.
    Anyone has any idea of what is going on?

    Hey PierBover more info here.

    I've stopped using Flash CC because of this bug. Just not worth it.

  • Licensing fonts when using a server based conversion utility

    We have a group creating brochures and logos using Adobe fonts from Font Folio.
    We have a content management system with a utility that creates a pdf rendition of the document or asset when it is uploaded into the system.
    Are we okay from a license perspective because we are licensing Font Folio for the document creators and embedding the fonts in the PDF versions using our pdf utility, or is there something we need to license for the conversion utility which is running on a Linux box within our content management system?

    Adobe's Font Folio license is a "per seat" license and allows you to use fonts on individual workstations.  While the license allows you to post the fonts on a server for distribution purposes within your organization, it does not cover automated document creation via a server.  Each of your document creators is welcome to create PDF versions of their documents but using a conversion utility on a server falls outside the scope of our standard license.
    Adobe can provide you with a separate license for these types of use.  If you are interested, please contact me: [email protected]

  • Font embed issue in Dir 11.5

    Hi,
    I have issue with font embed in Director 11.5. This only happens in one particular PC that I am using - other ones are fine. I make a director movie, and embed some fonts into the cast library. Using these fonts in the text members and so, I tested it in authoring environment and everything appeared OK. However when I published it, right after the processing bar ended, a message said that some texts are using fonts that are not embedded, while it was obvious that the embedded font was there. I checked the text member using the broken font, and the text appeared broken (using default font instead) and the font selection box says that the font is (missing). I wonder if anyone have similar problem or is it isolated to just my one PC?

    Yes, and when I use the installed font, it pose no problem. Only when I use embedded font then it show problems.
    It seems that I may just get away with using installed fonts, however, since I am making projectors to be distributed, embedded font becomes a necessity.

  • Do I Buy License to Embed Fonts?

    If I create a PDF ebook that I offer for sale - what do I need to know about font licensing? All I'm doing right now is choosing and using fonts that are available in my dropdown menu from InDesign. I'm fairly sure there's more I need to understand about the legal aspects of embedding fonts in commercially sold ebooks.

    There is no management pack license needed for patching the agent. You can get clear details what link needs what packs when you click on '+' symbol (Show Management Pack Information) right to the "About Oracle Enterprise Manager" at the extreme down on OEM screen.
    When you click on "Show Management Pack Information", it will show what pack needed next to every link in paranthesis. If there is no pack information mentioned next to link means, there is no license needed for that link.

  • IDCS3: PDF font embed issue, no answers anywhere!

    Help if you can.
    I'm using the font Dirty Headline in many of my layouts that require exporting to PDF. Substituting the font is not really an option at the time. I also don't want to keep outlining the font every time a chance is made. Here's the issue:
    Whenever I export InDesign CS3 I get an error that says:
    Dirty Headline: This font could not be embedded due to restrictions in the font file. The font must be installed to view or print this file properly with Adobe Acrobat. View additional errors?
    I have the font. It is installed. It is not protected. It is not corrupt.
    The PDFs look fine in Acrobat but when I place/link them in InDesign the font is substituted automatically.
    The kicker is that some of the PDFs substitute a font and some don't. Transparency flattening messes up the layer effects in the file. I've tried tons of different settings and somehow figured it out but I don't know what is happening! HELP PLEASE???

    rich, I downloaded the font Dirty Headline from urbanfonts.com (not sure if this is the same font you are using) and Indesign's Preflight indicates the font is not protected. But during export, embedding the font is restricted.
    Just for the fun of it... I tried Richard's Fontographer suggestion, and sure enough it worked, I was able to embed the font. But, if you check the readme for this font, it states the font is freeware for personal and non-commercial use, with a commercial license available from the creator.

  • Purchasing and Licensing Fonts for use in Book (Garamond Pro)

    I'm planning to design a book in InDesign and I'd like to use Adobe's Garamond with all of its special extras (titling capitals, small caps, italic alternates etc.)
    I was about to buy the font package at myfonts.com, then sign up for InDesign, but I'm wondering if this font is already included in InDesign and, if so, is it complete?
    Also, if I use the Creative Cloud can I use any fonts in it that I've already purchased licenses for?
    Finally, do I need a special license for a printed book or is that included in the desktop license?

    Hi Badmonkeyart,
    Please confirm the version name of InDesign.
    However, for CS6 you can refer the following page which having the detailed information about default fonts included.
    Font related documentation for Creative Suite 6

  • Arabric Font embed, and TLF use problem.

    Hi all,
    I meet a problem with embed the Arabric Font.
       [Embed(source="fonts/axtyoumn.TTF",fontFamily="AxtYoumna",embedAsCFF="true" ,unicodeRange="U+0000-U+1000")]
       public const AxtYoumna:Class;
       [Embed(source="fonts/AXTSIL__.TTF", fontFamily="AxtSImplifed",embedAsCFF="true",unicodeRange="U+0000-U+1000")]
       public const AxtSImplifed:Class;
       public function fonts()
         Font.registerFont(AxtYoumna);
         Font.registerFont(AxtSImplifed);
    It succeed published into a .swf file. I load this file use
    Font.enumerateFonts(false);
    It shows the font I have embed, it seems embed succeed:
    FontsName::: AxtYoumna ||||| FontsType::: embeddedCFF
    FontsName::: AxtSImplifed ||||| FontsType::: embeddedCFF
    Then I use AxtYoumna, AxtSImplifed for my textfield
       charFormat.fontFamily = ffont;
       charFormat.fontSize = fsize;
       charFormat.kerning = Kerning.ON;
       charFormat.fontWeight = fbold ? "bold" : "normal";
       //charFormat.fontWeight = "bold";
       charFormat.fontLookup = flash.text.engine.FontLookup.EMBEDDED_CFF;
       charFormat.renderingMode = flash.text.engine.RenderingMode.CFF;
       charFormat.cffHinting = flash.text.engine.CFFHinting.NONE;
    The Text still not render correctly.
    My builder is FLex 3, flash player 10, and Flex SDK 4.0.0.10485
    But if I use the font Arial/Arabic Transparent/Traditional Arabric, it works.
    I use AXtYOumna/AXtadvertising/AXtSImplified Light /AXtGihaneLightItalic /AXtYouSra/AXTTraditionalLight , it not works.
    I can use these font in Photoshop CS4 middleeast version to show arabic succeefully.
    Please help me.!

    I suppose that "The Text still not render correctly.  " means in particular that you don't the proper shaping (positional forms).
    If that's the case, I think it is explained by the fact that AXtYOumna does not have the necessary OpenType layout tables. TLF/FTE need those table to select the proper positional shapes. Those tables are present in Arial/Arabic Transparent/Traditional Arabric.
    Eric.

  • Font embed and PDF optimizer question

    using Quark 7, Acrobat 8 professional, non-intel mac OS10.4.11. According to the quark dialog, the fonts are imbedded. When I look in PDF optimizer, the fonts don't show up. Does this mean they were never imbedded? Also, when I save a file as PDF optimized I get a zero kb figure in the finder panel. Is this correct?
    Thanks

    Although you may have embedding turned on, Doesn't necessarily mean That fonts are embedded. Only fonts that allowed to be embedded, are those from Adobe, plus other font houses that have agreements with Adobe to allo it. If your trying to embed MicroSoft Fonts. Forget it it They share nothing with anyone. And The chace of it happening are about like the old say saying The chances of it happening are *Slim* and *None* *and Slim just left town*.
    Also if you receive a PDF form someone else. They may have run through Optimizer to reduce the size and removed all instances of Embedded font.
    If you use common fonts between windows and Apple say for example Ariel There should only be subtle differences in the look of the PDF if you have use system fonts turned on.

  • Licensing fonts for use in publishing books.

    Hello everyone,
    I was reading the forums here and I see a lot of questions concerning licensing of fonts with some very competent people replying. I'm hoping that someone can clarify my position regarding font licensing.
    I'm a new small publisher in the UK, and intend to make print on demand books via Lightning Source. I hadn't quite appreciated the scope of font licensing and want to make sure I get it right.
    I need to purchase or license a font for use in the books I'll be publishing. The font will only be used on my computer for typesetting. The font will then be embedded in a non-editable PDF to go to Lightning Source, who only use the file to print physical copies of the book.
    I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them. I only make this clear because some licenses seem to differ if you're commercially selling an electronic file with the font embedded. The only file that will have it embedded is the PDF which is itself not sold, only used for printing.
    I did read somewhere in these forums that all Adobe fonts are licensed for this.
    If someone could please put my mind at rest as to what I need to buy I would be very grateful.
    Many thanks!

    Typescript,
    I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them.
    Does this mean that the viewers will see their own (standard) fonts in the eBooks?
