Licenses Consumed on Startup of Edge XI 3.0

When starting an Edge XI 3.0 server, upon looking in the Sessions area of the CMC, I can see two additional users consuming licenses.  No other users are logged in except me.
The two users are Administrator and QaaWSServletPrincipal.
No QaaWS have been created on the system as yet.
Occasionally the two users will remain logged in indefinitely, until the CMS is restarted. Other times, they both disappear from the Sessions area within 5 minutes (QaaWSServletPrincipal) and a few hours (Administrator).
Has anyone had the same experience as me?
Also, does anyone have any idea why these users would be consuming a license? Especially for Edge users, who have 5 CAL, this is quite serious.
Thanks,
Joshua Fletcher

Hi Jack,
Thanks for your answer.  If those users stay logged in, is there any way to time them out or kick them off?
And yes, in my case, they did count against the CAL limitation.
Thanks,
Josh Fletcher

  • Monitor or alert when the all license consumed

    Good afternoon!
We are using Business Object Enterprise XI R2- Product version 11.5.11.1470. We purchased 15 concurrent licenses.
Currently, we have desinged our Java application that consumes only 1 license for 1 report processing.
    Java Web app(using Java SDK)
Obtain a session -> process report -> export it to proper format(ReportExportFormat.processHttpRequest) -> log off the session.
We would like to chage the application toward consuming more licenses using schedulling like below.
Obtain a sesison -> schedule a report -> release the session
Obtain a session -> see a list of scheduled reports by a user - release the session
Obtain a session -> download the report -> release the session
Is there any way to monitor if we exceed the number of licenses on the server for audit purpose?
    Thanks,
    Sung

    Thank you for your answer.
Our product is relatively new and we keep adding customers.
We could certainly see the error that the license has been consumed all on production.
However, it also means the customer already failed to pull the report on production by the time we saw the errors.
    Not a good user experience.
We have 15 concurrent licenses now.
What I would like to do is having a warning (or whatever) when the license consumed nearly all, say all 13 licenses are used.
If it is not possible, I am wondering what kinds of monitoring methods the XI server provides instead of throwing errors to the customer. Does it have it??
I hope I explain my goal clearly.

  • Why will reader XI not let me accept the license agreement upon startup? Only Decline is available.

I have had to restore my Win 7 64-bit system due to Reader XI crashing on start-up due to internal error and it took Acrobat XI Pro with it. Now I cannot accept the license agreement. Tried Tab-Enter and that did not work. Any ideas? I need this for college classes immediately.
    Thanks.

I don't know why this is happening; I have never seen this before.  Try the following
using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader
double-click on Eula.exe and accept the License Agreement
If that still gives you the same problem, set the registry entry that you have accepted the License Agreement:
download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/33ef697f-e339-49ab-bb3e-afc9057ece66

  • Recurring license agreement at startup

    Hi all,
Since upgrading to v9 iTunes does not save me agreeing to the license agreement.
Each time iTunes starts it asks me again.
Any ideas how to solve this one?
    Thx!
    Marco

Maybe try removing and deleting those files and then restarting your Machine as well. Otherwise, I would try uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, to see if that helps.

  • ISE 1.2 Active Base License

We are using ISE 1.2 for authentication on wireless and have noticed that base licenses are being consumed and show as an active endpoint for devices that attempt to connect to the SSID.  Is a license consumed for any type of radius authentication request, even if it is a failed request?  Does this mean that repeated requests to connect  to the wireless network assocaited with ISE will use an active license?
There are currently no active enpoints at the moment yet I see 31 active base licenses used.

The Cisco ISE license is counted as follows:
•A Base or Advanced license is consumed based on the feature that is utilized.
•An endpoint with multiple network connections can consume more than one license per MAC address. For example, a laptop connected to wired and also to wireless at the same time. Licenses for VPN connections are based on the IP address.
•Licenses are counted against concurrent, active sessions. An active session is one for which a RADIUS Accounting Start is received but RADIUS Accounting Stop has not yet been received.
Once you reach the license count/limit, you will start getting an alarm messages. license traps and alarms are just informational and not enforced. While the alarm is generated when the soft limit of endpoints is crossed and there is not functional impact on the users. To avoid service disruption, Cisco ISE continues to provide services to endpoints that exceed license entitlement. However there are plans to implement a hard limit on this soon.

  • ISE 1.2/1.2.1 license consumption issues

Hi all, I know this topic is somewhat done to death but I want to know whether anyone else is experiencing this issue. In summary my ISE deployment (right this minute) has 17 Active sessions with 17 base and 17 plus licenses consumed. My issue with this is that of the 17 active sessions only 8 of these sessions are utilising a plus feature ie the registration status in the authorisation policy. In short at all times the plus license consumption always matches the base license consumption.
I have continually had this issue with all ISE deployments whereby the license consumption does not reflect Cisco documentation and my configurations. Without giving screenshots I can say with certainty that the only plus feature been used is the BYOD onboarding and subsequent registration status in the authz policy. The rest of my policies are straight forward CWA guest and EAP-TLS machine cert authorisations with no profiling information used in the policy. I have gone so far as to turn off profiling and removing BYOD policies with the same results.
The following document clearly states what should and shouldn't consume a license:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/identity-services-engine/datasheet-c78-730772.pdf
    Any input would be appreciated.

The bug is listed as fixed, but I don't see which software it is fixed in. I must admit I've seen this problem for months, probably over a year now. It was already the case on 1.1.4 at least. I have some customers using 1300 of 500 advanced licenses.
It would be nice if it functioned exactly as the documentation always said. It would give you a warm feeling that things will keep working when the advanced license expires entirely (I'm sure we'll find out soon).
At one point I was told it was under discussion whether to fix the problem, or to fix the documentation to fit the problem, but last I heard it would be fixed at some point in the future. Every time we get a call regarding new software (1.2.1, 1.3) I make sure I ask them that the trust based licensing continues. We're OK as long as trust based licensing continues, but it's scruffy and hard to explain to customers why it shows 3 times as many advanced users as they already have. And then on occasions you see their eyes light up when they realise they can run 3000 advanced and Cisco will be none the wiser, or alternatively that they could have got away with a 100 user license and you've just cost them a 5000 user license that nobody can tell if they are using or not.

As one of our scaly unpleasant friends was hinting at, labels are not used for much by launchd; they have little operational significance, I believe.
I've never seen one whose label was different that the file name (less .plist) so it's a good thing to change anyway. Perhaps labels are only used to identify them in a human-readable listing.
I do get an error in the log, though, which I think means that the process exited immediately.
That is an important plot point.
Perhaps there launchd expects the daemon to keep running and kills it if it doesn't? I recall in the man page or somewhere they said the process cannot daemonize itself.
    That is correct.
aw_flexlm starts the actual license software and then exits. This is probably my problem. But I didn't write this code -- all I want is for this thing to start up on launch. I will trust it won't crash.
    Is aw_flexlm a binary or a script?
If it is a script, you should be able to look inside and find where it actually kicks off a program. Duplicate that line and turn it into an echo. Run it and now you'll have your actual executable and arguments.
If aw_flexlm is a binary, you will have to look for documentation for it. There are sometimes options that will prevent some or all of the various daemonization actions.
I did a quick check and it seems that aw_flexlm is indeed a script. You should be able to look around in it. The 'start' operation is easy. See what it does for the 'stop' operation. Launchd can't perform any complicated shutdown process. It expects the program to shutdown cleanly if killed. Not all programs will do that.

  • SAP B1 License Manager not starting automatcially

    Dear All
    SAP Version : SAP 9.0 PL12
    Issue :
1)SAP B1 License manager is not starting automatically even when the status is automatic in the Services.msc
2)Also when logged from the client system its asks for the IP address/server name every time.
3)Some times it connects with the Server name and sometimes with the IP address.
And at cases it doesn't even connect at all throwing the error message "Connection to the license server failed" .
and then when we replace the config files of SAP B1 to DI API it works fine at cases.
This issue occurs on a random basis and at almost in all the systems(System connected in the morning is facing issue at afternoon).
And it becomes an activity on a daily basis.
So kindly let us know the exact cause for this issue and also a permanent solution for the same.

  • BO Edge Releases

I am new to Business Objects and I am confused with the different in names and releases on the SAP Website.  Is BO Edge Standard XI R2 the earlier version of BO Edge Standard 3.  What is the difference between BO Enterprise XI 3.0 and BO Edge Standard 3.  I want to download the correct BO which works with CrystalReport 2008.
    Thanks.
    PSCNC229

BusinessObjects Edge 3.0 is the version compatible with Crystal Reports 2008.
Edge is very similar to the architecture and features found in BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0.
Read this whitepaper for more details: http://download.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/edgeseries/brochures/download.epd?context=1B489E78D10A6D81B01260E83CE5A29C5B06CF7AD10FF63B3CCCA5108B39E04705964305AAE9AC8EB10484DA5237D4BADDD921E0F96EB687
The main differences between Edge and BOE are:
    - There is a limit to the number of CAL licenses you can have on Edge whereas BOE has no limit
    - You are restricted to a single server deployment of Edge whereas BOE is horizontally deployable
    - Limited add-ons available compared to BOE
There are three editions of Edge:

  • CUCM 7 - Activate Demo Licenses

    Hi all,
I got a CUCM Demo version from my compnay for trial before implementing CUCM 7 company wide.
As I installed the application I had no problems, however, when I try now to access the GUI / Devices / Phones and add a phone I get this error msg :
Add failed: [4935] allocated licenses consumed by  used and pending. Please u[pload additional licenses and try again
How can I activate the Demo license so I can add a Phone for trial purpose?
Not sure if that is in regards to this, but if I try to start Cisco Call Manager the below error appears (Picture)
As you can see from the Picture I have 150 licenses, but what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hello,
As per the previous recommendation you should be able to restart 'License Manager' service under Network Services in Servicability. That should help clear the issue. If that does not help, you could open a case with Licensing  and they can generate 'temporary licenses' which expire after a certain time period.
    Hope this helps!

  • UCCX Outbound IVR Port License Requirements

Hi, trying to figure out how many Outbound IVR port licenses are needed.
UCCX dials out, call is answered with a live voice, UCCX transfers to Application Trigger. No agent available, call is queued.  At this point 1 Outbound IVR license is used.
Agent becomes available and call is transferred to Agent.  At this point is the licensed port returned or is the license consumed until the agent hangs up?
    Thanks.

    Hi Chris
I dont think the outbound license will be held till agent answers the call.
Here's when outbound licenses will be released:
    1. Outbound subsystem calls a contact, live voice is detected, dialer does a refer to agents extension via gateway-sip trunk - CUCM. At this point, outbound port is free and agent takes the call
    2. Outbound subsystem calls a contact, live voice is detected, dialer does a refer to IVR trigger. Outbound port is released. Here, the outbound contact is now connected to one of the inbound CTI ports which are associated to the IVR trigger
In summary, as soon as outbound port does a successful SIP Refer transfer, the outbound port is free to be used for next contact.

  • Lync Edge Server required for Sykpe Federation

I have a very simple and quick question I hope some people can help a newbie to Lync 2013 with.
Basically we have just installed as a trial the Lync 2013 Standard edition on a server for use of IM and Persistent chat only. We are not worried about the VOIP stuff. All is working great and everything so far is installed on one server.
I have been asked by management to add the ability to add Skype contacts. So I know I have to enroll for PIC and setup a Skype external access federation which is fine.
My question is though... can I install the "Lync 2013 Edge Server" role on the same server as my Front End Lync Server? I really dont want to pay for another Windows license to have a Lync Edge Server in my DMZ.
I am looking for some advice on why I wouldnt want to do this and if I can actually do this type of setup? The end result for me would be to have all Lync installation on one server. We only have around 50 users so not massive...
    Thanks in advance everyone!

    Hi,
You need the aditional server for federation with Skype (PIC). You can't  install FE and Edge on the same server.

  • Movi License Usage

Can someone help me understand how a license for Movi is used. We have 25 licenses and alot of users lately have been getting Login Failed error due to no licenses being available.
Do users have to be in a conference call or do they simply have to be logged into Movi?
    When are the licenses released?
If they are idle and someone tries to log in does it kick someone else out?
Can we set something in TMS to no let users auto-signin to their Movi?
TMS is showing us as being out of licenses. However, we know that 25 users are not in video calls. So, we need to figure out how to not have all the licenses consumed unless users are in calls.
    Thanks,
    Joe Deglmann

Do users have to be in a conference call or do they simply have to be logged into Movi? When users log in they will utilize a licenses from the avaliable licenses.
When are the licenses released? When a user logs out of Jabber Video (Movi).
If they are idle and someone tries to log in does it kick someone else out?No, once logged in, they have to log out themself to return that license to be avaliable to someone else.
Can we set something in TMS to no let users auto-signin to their Movi? You can configure the Windows/Mac OS X installers with settings such as this, check the administrator guides.

  • The difference SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite and SAP BusinessObjects EDGE BI Suite

    Hi all,
Would you please explain what is the difference of SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite and SAP BusinessObjects EDGE BI Suite..?

    Key difference:
Edge BI Suite does not allow you to do clustering of nodes, but the BI Suite does.  This flexibility is restricted in Edge - so it's a single server setup.
Both SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise share the same underlying platform and tools.  The difference is that Edge BI is designed and priced for mid-sized organizations, and is therefore licensed differently.
SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI is licensed for both named-user licenses and concurrent access licenses (CAL). While named-user licenses are appropriate for users who are active in the system throughout most of the day, the concurrent access license provides an economical way to support casual system users. A single CAL license will typically support 5-10 users, depending on the type of usage they require.
While Enterprise (BI Suite) can be implemented for unlimited users across multiple servers and includes clustering and failover capabilities, Edge BI is restricted to a single server and a user count more appropriate for mid-sized organizations.
You can always upgrade to SAP BI Suite if requirement grows and easily migrate all of your BI content including users, groups, reports, dashboards and universes.
The decision now depends on your investment and the allocated budget. I hope this helps.
