Licenses of iwork 09

Hi,
I am planning to do a complete re-installation of Mac OS X (erase all data and start from scratch).
I am presently using iwork 09, do I have to revoke the license of iworks before I re-install the OS X.
Note - I bought iworks 09 from the apple store, so I have the CD, I don't remember keying in any License key.
I have just taken a back up of my Username/Library/ (along with other personal data that I need)
Thanks,
Muthu

Just use the CD/DVD to reinstall. Any tracking done by Apple is of your Mac's serial number, not the software's number. I've done this with both my iMac & my MacBook Pro. Only if you were to get a new motherboard/logic board would it be seen as a different computer.

  • How to buy license for iWorks '09 (with upgrade version 9.3)

I have installed iWorks '09 trial with 9.3 upgrade on my wife's MacBook 10.7.5.  I would like to purchase the license, but the links to do that don't seem to work. Is the purchase still possible? How do I do it?  Thanks.

    Hi,
CON-SU1-AS2A10K9 contract if for ASA+IPS bundle. If AIP-SSM-10 ws purchased as a spare the contract would be CON-SU1-ASIP10K9.
I am not sure whether or not this Cisco Service for IPS contract can be  used to cover just the AIP-SSM-10 if it was purchased as part of a  Bundle instead of a Spare.
I would recommend that you check with your Cisco reseller or Cisco  Sales Representative.

  • License for iWork: Pages.....

So I bought a new iMac at the same time I bought iWork 09. I understood that they were installing at the store.
Now a month or two later I am trying to print documents and on the third set I get a Pages screen asking me if I want a trial or to register. I can't seem to get past the screen to print. I don't understand because I have printed other documents, may not have used Pages much as I mostly do emails.
I found reference to Apple's new system where one does not need a serial number, nice since I can find none on my iWork 09 DVD box. I am not sure what to do here. The information I found here seemed to suggest deleting iWorks and a bunch of other files reloading iWorks. It seemed to suggest that a serial number would not be required. I checked versions and the version I have is higher than the one on the DVD so I guess I would have to upgrade too. This sounds like about a half days work to get a serial number that should be there.
Is there any solution to this problem that does not involve me wasting half a day?

I understood that they were installing at the store. Apparently that was not the case as the software is not on my wife's 27" iMac purchased at the same time.I think I loaded from the iWorks 09 Box/DVD as I do have an iWorks 09 folder on my hard drive. I did find old versions of iWorks which apparently got moved to my new machine when I used the Migration Assistant.
I can't seem to get past the Pages registration screen to print. I don't understand because I have printed other documents, maybe this set of documents is just going through Pages where the others were PDF's etc?. Apparently my version of Pages is slammed because I tried to create a WP document and it would not let me save it.
I have some documents I need to print ASAP. I plan to go back to the Apple Store and ask why I wandered around the mall all morning waiting for them to load software which apparently did not get loaded. Since I have one on one I think they will have to deal with it but I need copies of the documents sooner than I can set a half day aside to work on finally getting this conversion done. Lesson for me here, do not buy new systems right at Christmas and expect that help will be available.

  • License for iWorks

Can I legally re-sell my copy of iWorks if I take it off my MacBook Pro?

Yes. But you must not keep any copies including any discs. If you purchased the apps from the App Store, then you cannot sell or transfer them to another party at all.

  • Using iWork '06 license key for iWork '08

I have '06 and I'm wondering whether I need to buy another key for '08. Any one know for sure?

You must buy a new license for iWork '08, there is no upgrade path.

  • License recovery

    Greetings,
I have bought an family license for iWork at best buy a few years back. I have an old macmini that is going to serve as homework tool for the kids. I wanted to install the iWork there for them, but can't find the original CD. Can't download from the App store, for it runs Mac OS 10.5.
I have it currently installed on my mac book pro. Is there a way to recover the license and media CD?
    Thanks!

Thanks it worked! But FYI, a little differently than you described. My MBP is running 10.7 and there was no library support under users, just at the HD. I had however, to copy a couple of files from HD>Library>Preferences:
"com.apple.iWork09.plist" and  "com.apple.iWork09.Installer.plist" . There is were the licensing info seems to be stored.  There is a similiar issue with those that had the iWork 9 trial version and then installed from the DVD of app store. In that case these same files, installed by the trial versrion, need to be deleted. So I figured they also need to be copied to make it work.  So I combined your info witht the one here (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3098) and voila!
    Thanks again!

  • Upgrade from a single license to a family pack...?

Is it possible to upgrade a single user license for iWork 09 to a family pack? Sorry for posting here, there is no forum under iWork it seems. Thanks for any help.

    Mac Daddy 08 wrote:
I think the point of his question is, He wants to remove single user copy from his Mac, install family copy to all of his Mac's, and then possibly resale his single user copy.
I also would like to possibly do the same thing. When I upgraded to iLife '09, I only owned 1 Macbook, now I own 2 Macbooks and I would like to upgrade to family license. When I upgrade can't I resale my single user copy?
Check your licence agreement. If it doesn't prohibit transferring the (single user) licence, then it would seem reasonable to assume you can do so. Being neither a lawyer nor an Apple representative, my advice remains the same as before: This might be a question best answered at an Apple Store or another authorized reseller.

  • Single User License

Does anyone know if Apple allows a copy of iWork to be installed on a single user's desktop and laptop (when not used at the same time...like Adobe) or is the Family Pack what is needed to be able to install it on more than one machine?

    From the license agreement:
"*iWork Single User License*. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software (whether trial or full version) on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. You may make one copy of the Apple Software in machine-readable form for backup purposes only; provided that the backup copy must include all copyright or other proprietary notices contained on the original. "
In other words, you're only allowed to have the software on one computer at a time.

  • Going from iWork 09 trial to full version

We received a site license for iWork 09. But if a user has had the trial of iWork 09 on their computer, iWork asks for a serial number when installed (even though Apple doesn't give these out with iWork anymore).
    I've tried deleting
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
    +/Applications/iWork\ \'09+
    +/Library/Application\ Support/iWork\ \'09+
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork09.Installer.plist
Still doesn't work. What am I missing?

I remembered I had written a shell script a couple years ago to revert Java in OS X, and it involved "forgetting" old packages. I found the script and rewrote it for iWork '09. Removes and installs the same stuff, but for some reason it works.
In this case, I was doing it over SSH to a network machine, so I copied the package from the installer disc and then the latest iWork update package to a common location "/Users/Shared".
    #!/bin/sh
    rm -rf $HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist "/Applications/iWork\ \'09" "/Library/Application\ Support/iWork\ \'09" "/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork09.Installer.plist"
    pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iWork09Trial
    pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iWork904Update
    pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iWork905Update
    pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.iWorkTrial
installer -target / -verbose -pkg "/Users/Shared/iWork09.mpkg"
installer -target / -verbose -pkg "/Users/Shared/iWork9.0.5Update.pkg"

  • Find iWork Serial Number

I have a downloaded version of iWork on my MacBook Pro.  Now I want to install iWork on my Air.  I downloaded the trial version.  It wants a serial number to register but the retail license from iWorks on Pro doesn't work.  I know Apple emailed me the license way back when, but I no longer have that email.  How do I get them to send me a new one or find the serial number on my Pro?

If you have bought the version with serial number you have to talk to Apple. If the MBP version also is with a serial number you should see it if you click in the Pages Pages menu > About Pages > you get a window with the information, but then you are not supposed to use it on more than one computer. You could have bought the family version and have iWork on up to five computers in your house hold.

  • IWork family pack - unregistering from one computer...

I bought the iWork family pack and installed it in 3 computers.
Now the third computer is leaving the family (sold) and I want to make sure I'm compliant with the license terms.
I want to uninstall iWork from it (I know, just delete the app) and MAKE SURE THAT MY NUMBERS OF USED LICENSES is back to 2 computers only.
Where do I go or what do I do to de-authorize, un-register, or whatever you call telling Apple "Hey, I'm just using two of my five licenses".
    If that is even needed...
    Thanks in advance.

    celopes,
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
That's nice of you to be concerned with compliance with the license agreement. iWork installations are done on the honor system. With a Family Pack license, you're legally entitled to have five installations at a time. And you don't need to tell Apple about it. Just delete the one you no longer need and know that you have the admiration of all honest people in this discussion group.

  • Example of ARD postscript to enter license key?

We purchased volume licensing for iWork '08 which I'm planning to deploy to a lab of 30 computers. I'm planning to install the master package via ARD (v. 3.2) and was wondering if it's possible to include a post script that will enter the serial number and registration automatically for me? If so, has anyone tried this and would they be willing to share what their script looked like?
An example of a script to automatically add a shortcut to Keynote app in a specific user's dock would be a bonus!
    Thanks.

  • How does a "single license" work?

With some products (Microsoft Office comes to mind) the single license gives you 1 desktop and 1 "portable". This is my situation, so if this is the case, I can buy single. If not, I guess it's family. What's the licensing scheme?
Also, does it "authenticate" such that a change to a new computer in the future leads to hassle to re-authenticate (a la MSOffice)? Or is it just whether the software recognizes the key?

    From the Apple software license:
*B. iWork Single User License.* This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software (whether trial or full version) on a single Apple- labeled computer at a time.
*C. iWork Family Pack License.* This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that same household. By "household" we mean a person or persons sharing the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home or condominium. This license does not extend to students who reside at a separate on-campus location or to business or commercial users. You may not make the Apple Software available over a network.

  • Single User License Questions

    Hello,
Firstly, since there is no general forum for iWork as a whole (rather than its individual packages), I have posted it here.
    Anyway, back on track.
I am a British MSc student wanting to purchase iWork Single-User at the discounted education price - as MS office for Mac has no UK education discount and seems to crash an awful lot, and Open/Neo Office is, in my opinion, the worlds most counter productive and clumsy software package out there (I hate it!), I have opted for iWork. After trying the demo I really like it! Very slick.
However, I have noticed that there are two packs available for iWork. Single-User and Family Pack, and have become a little confused about how the licensing for iWork pans out.
I want to install iWork on both my 27" iMac "Ratchet" and on my 13" Alu' Notebook "Clank" (yes those are the actual computer names in System Preferences), so I can work on a document with Clank when out and about, upload it to my iDisk, then work on it again with Ratchet when I get home. I am the only user of these two machines, not even a guest account. Will the Single-User license of iWork install and run without running into problems? Or does single user mean one Mac and one Mac only? If its the latter then it looks like I'll have to make do with OpenOffice until I can afford MS Office 2008/11 and just hope it doesn't crash when I click "save" (which did happen very frequently with MSO2008)
    Thanks in advance!
    Ben

    benanderson wrote:
Well that just burst my bubble quite dramatically.
In the education store its £35 for the single user which is a hefty 1/2 price discount, but its still £87 for the family pack, no discount to speak of. £87 is only £12 short of Office 2008, so it looks like I'm waiting until next payday before I can afford it, or I dust off the credit card."
    Thanks for the quick answer

It seems silly having two single user disks and for a little extra I get 5 installs and one less disk.
How is me saying I'll wait until next pay day or making a personal observation considered a rant? I'm puzzled how you came to that conclusion
yes I was snippy in reply to Allan Eckert's suggestion of OpenOffice and I apologise, but a rant? Come on mate, how is any of what I said a rant?

  • Can iWork 08 be sold to someone?

Can I sell my license for iWork 08 to another person? Can a license be transfered?
I'm not using it anymore and would like to sell it.

    Darcy,
Sure, you're entitled to sell it, just so long as you delete it from your computer. And there's no formal license-transfer system. The new just has to register it with your existing serial number. Apple doesn't check to see if it's been registered before. It's the honor system.
