Hi,we are a small software house developing a custom ASP .NET web application which will require Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005. We are developing for one specific client who will use the application in his own intranet. We are not delivering to anybody else. Can you explain the licensing arrangements for this- am I right in thinking the client does not have to purchase a license as he is using the Runtime in his own intranet?  We (the software house) have licenses for Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise Edition, do we need anything else?ThanksChidd

  • Understanding the Apple Developer License & Publishing

Our firm recently began creating some Flex Mobile Apps, trying it out, but we had a question about deploying apps (since we're green) for the iPads/iPhones.  We are developing apps for a specific clients, not to be published to the world, free or for gain at the moment.
Does the Apple Developer License simply provide the necessary piece to be able to bring the mobile app over to the iPad/iPhone device via iTunes and potentially to post it for Apple's approval for potentially selling it if we so choose?
Again, we are simply wanting to create the app for our client's use and no one else in the world besides a handful of people.
Apologize for the simply question but it's not so simple to us.
    Thanks.
    MD

Again..... move to Lion, whatever that means in your case. I can appreciate anyone on a budget, but grasping for straws now isn't going to move your long term goals forward.
You'll have nothing but issues otherwise, and little help here when it comes to working with outdated software otherwise. Please take the hint, thanks

  • HT4437 I want to develop a software with AirPaly service for business things. How can I get the permission from Apple?

I want to develop a software with AirPaly service for business things. How can I get the permission from Apple?
This one is used in Windows laptop, and I want it support AirPlay service, but Apple doesn't publish the AirPlay protocol.
    Many thanks.

Create a developer account, then access he developers forums and see if you can find the information that way
The other option would be to simply contact Apple directly.

  • Multiple Apple TVs in one house but one computer

I just bought a second Apple TV for my house and only have one computer whose iTunes Library I would like to sync to both Apple TVs. But I don't see the second Apple TV in the device list. Just the first one. The new one does appear in the speaker pull down list on the lower right corner of iTunes and I can even use it as an external speaker for my iTunes library, but it has never appeared in the device list. Is there a limitation that only one Apple TV can sync to a library.
All software is up to date, I've restarted everything several time, and nothing works. I've also unplugged the old one and still iTunes can't see the new one. Ideas?

    Winston Churchill wrote:
In order to add a second tv you will need to register it with the itunes library (settings/computers/connect to shared library)
that won't provide syncing though (as it's a shared library). ??

  • As a long-time customer of Apple, I am beginning to LOSE CONFIDENCE in Apple products

7 months ago I purchased 2 new Apple computers, a MacBook Pro and an iMac 21.5'. The iMac is now experiencing HUGE issues.
One day I was using it for an important music session and it turned off without warning, and would not turn back on regardless of what I tried (replaced memory, tried system reset, left it unplugged overnight, etc). I took it to the Apple store in SOHO and the issue was fixed temporarily, but then 3 weeks later (in the middle of another important recording/mastering session) it failed again and would not turn on. I took it to Apple again and finally got it back over a week after I dropped it off. So far, in the past month, the following has been replaced in this one computer: 1) Power Supply 205W (replaced TWICE), 2) Fan, Optical Drive, 3)AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512MB Video Card, 4) Board, LED Backlight, and 5) Format Hard Drive & Reinstall OS and ALL software.
Now the iMac will neither start nor connect to the keyboard/mouse AND I was told by your "geniuses" that I will need to format my hard drive (which contains $10,000+ worth of software and irreplaceable music projects) and reinstall EVERYTHING.
As a long-time customer of Apple, who prides himself on providing quality service to his music clients, this seems UNACCEPTABLE. Unlike Apple, I am not a multi-billion dollar business and cannot afford to lose the important clients. Luckily they have been patient with me up to this point. I use Apple products in almost every facet of my life (iPhone, iTouch, laptop, iMac, etc) and was planning to purchase 2 Mac towers when I open my studio in Brooklyn at the end of this year. Now, I am hesitant to use Apple for my business.
So my ultimate question for Apple is, how much do you really value your customers? Are you willing to help an aspiring entrepreneur regain his confidence in your products (HIS products)? Are you willing to admit that you have given me a faulty product and replace it with something that is guaranteed to work and make both me and my clients happy? The ball is in your court, Apple. Let's see if you are able to TRULY provide the type of customer service your company prides itself on.
    Sincerely,
    Long-time Customer & First-time Skeptic, Matthew Brittain

Yea I have everything backed up BUT that does not change the fact that the computer hardware is FAULTY and that even with the backup I will need to reinstall ALL of the software. One of my programs alone is a 6-hour install. Had my computer not failed I would still be working on my projects, rather than waiting for installs to be completed.
    Make sense now?
Had you taken the time to clone your drive there would be no reinstall required, you chose the method you use to backup, now you get to actually use it. But If your Mac is currently functional, make a clone, it will save hours if not days of work.

  • How do i download apple developer apps, specifically xcode

    Hello,
I am trying to download a software developer's application called xcode (version 5) to a PC so that I can run it using  OS X in a virtual machine (Oracle Virtual Box should work) and learn how to develop apps for iphones.   This is a free apple application.  The problem I am having is that I cannot find a download link or button.   Yes, I have an apple id and I also am registered as an apple developer.  I have tried using firefox 26.0 and IE 9.  The OS on the PC from where I am attempting to download is windows vista basic 32 bit.
First, I went to http://store.apple.com/us  and typed xcode in the search bar at the upper right of the screen.  I did not see a link for logging in anywhere.
That search took me here:  https://developer.apple.com/technologies/ and I see "download xcode" in the left panel.
I click it and it takes me here:   https://developer.apple.com/xcode/    It says "Download Xcode 5 for free."   Great, that's what I want.  What do I click on to do it?   I see no dowload link so I clicked on the Downloading and Installation FAQs  link and it took me here:   https://developer.apple.com/support/xcode/
Now I see "The latest version of Xcode is available as a free download from the Mac App Store.  " ok lets click there ... and guess what?  I'm back to square one again!!!     https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/xcode/id497799835?ls=1&mt=12
I also tried using itunes.   That only showed xcode BOOKS!
Can't somebody please explain to me the thought process in using the apple website correctly?   This seems to be the most convoluted and user-unfriendly site I've ever been on.   Full to the brim with marketing and promos but very little to guide the user.   I have an apple id and I did register as a member of the iOS Developer Program.  I am a software engineer with 15+ years experience... not a rookie to download and use software!  What am I missing here?
Thanks a lot for any help!

I found the answer which someone posted for an earlier version of xcode.  Apparently, going to the "app store" per the instructions, will not work.
Instead, use the link below to the developer downloads page, click on the little white right arrow next to the app and it will expand.  The download link (not obvious) is a very small blue link over to the right.   Tricky, apple, tricky.

  • I downloaded OS X Lion Server using my apple developer account? Will it stay after my enrolment is over?

The title says it all. I downloaded OS X Lion Server using my apple developer account? Will it stay after my 1 year enrolment is over? I basicaly signed in and redeemed a code to download OS X Lion Server. It is now in my purchased list in the Mac App Store. But I got it by redeeming a code that I got through being an Apple Mac Developer. I wanted to know if I decided not to pay $99 next year to renew my enrolment, will I still be able to keep OS X Lion Server in my purchased list in the Mac App Store. When I click on More Apps by Apple in the Mac App Store, it takes me to the page with all their apps. OS X Lion Server says it is installed. But I want to know if it will still be in the purchased menu after the enrolment is finished and not renewed.

I am a new Mac Developer. I checked the page you gave me and I think it's more to do with topics about programming and using the developer tools and pre-release software. I don't think my question relates to any of the topics there. OS X Lion Server has already been released and is available for the public. I was planning on buying it. But before I did that I wanted to become a developer. So I enrolled in the Mac Developer program and I went to download OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 2 when I realized that I could also download the already released OS X Lion Server which was available for $50. So instead of buying it from the Mac App Store, I just got the redemption code from the Mac Developer Center and downloaded it free of charge (I did pay the $99 to be a Mac Developer though). Now it has been added to the purchased list in the Mac App Store and when I click the More Apps by Apple button in the Mac App Store, it takes me to the page with all Apple apps. And now on that page it says that OS X Lion Server has been installed. I am just wandering if once my enrollment is over next year April, and I decide not to renew my enrolment, will I still be able to have the OS X Lion Server in my list of purchased apps and still be able to re-download it? Sorry if this is too long, but I am trying to be as clear as possible. Sometimes when I ask questions, I wait a whole day and go back there, only to find out that they didn't understand what I meant. Thank you .

  • FaceTime HD webcam not working correctly ONLY in Apple-developed applications?

My sister just bought a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro, the one shown here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD313LL/A
We've run into a very strange issue, and I hope someone here is able to help.
The built-in camera is "flickering," but it appears to only be happening in applications made by Apple, or at least ones preinstalled on the computer.  The applications affected that I have tested are: iMovie, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and iChat.  It's not really a "flicker," per se, but large horizontal chunks of the video will displace and often show up as green -- it all moves very rapidly -- very hard to explain, but it is definitely not normal behavior.
iChat takes the issue a step further: the camera preview in iChat Preferences shows nothing but a blank screen.
The camera works flawlessly in Skype, and also in web browers thorugh Adobe Flash. So, I am very certain this is not a hardware issue.  It also worked perfectly during the setup walkthrough when the computer was first turned on and it had her take a photo for her user account.
I've tried resetting application preferences by deleting the preference files, resetting PRAM and SMC, shutting down/restarting the computer, and I've applied all possible Software Updates.  System Information (formerly System Profiler) shows the camera under USB, so the computer is recognizing it.  Finally, we called Apple and they said to reinstall OS X, which my sister just did. The problem's still there.  It wasn't a "clean" install though, because all of her files and preferences were kept in-tact, so maybe that is why.
I don't know what else to do. I've tried researching this issue, but it seems more people have problems with the camera in non-Apple/third-party apps, whereas our problem is just with Apple-developed apps.
I'm hoping someone else may have had this same problem and was able to fix it. Or, maybe someone knows something else I can try.  As a last resort, we'll take it to the Apple Store.

Spinnn: We ended up taking it to an Apple store. They couldn't figure it out. The Geniuses there had never encountered this problem. They booted into Snow Leopard and the problem was still there. So I'm guessing it was either a hardware issue, or like you said, more likely a firmware issue.
Since they couldn't fix it in store (and I'm pretty sure they tried everything except ripping the thing apart), we had to do an online exchange because it was a refurbished product. The new one came and had no issue, even after doing all software updates and updating the firmware.

  • Apple preps second software fix for flickering 27-inch iMacs

    Monday, January 25, 2010 - 12:06 PM EST
    By AppleInsider Staff
    Published: 11:50 AM EST
AppleCare technicians: A second fix for screen flickering affecting the hardware is due within 3 weeks.
In a thread on the Apple Discussions forums that spans nearly 250 pages, users have begun to report conversations with AppleCare representatives who claim a new update is forthcoming. A month ago, Apple released a software fix for the flickering issue on the 27-inch iMac, but since then users have said it did not address the problem. One user, Dennis Murphy, said he was told that AppleCare technicians were issued a bulletin on Saturday that stated a fix would be released in about three weeks. The Apple employee was allegedly instructed to collect customer contact information so they can be reached when the fix is released.
"This would clearly explain the extended shipping times we're seeing," Murphy wrote on the forums.
Last week, Apple delayed shipment of new direct-order 27-inch iMacs by three weeks. Supply issues have persisted for months, with Apple in December apologizing for the delays.
Another poster, GuiltyVerdict, wrote Saturday that an Apple representative told them a combination software and driver patch is due in roughly three weeks. "This will reportedly resolve the issue of the screen flickering (it is not hardware causing the issue)," the user wrote.
The three weeks allegedly cited by AppleCare technicians would coincide with the existing three-week wait time for direct orders of 27-inch iMacs. However, when contacted by AppleInsider Monday, an Apple representative said the three-week delay was not related to any hardware issues. Instead, they said the company has had trouble meeting up with demand for the new system, as some components are in limited availability. Still others have indicated system's internal graphics card cable could be the culprit. User ferris666 said they spoke with a technician who said the problem with the cable could not be fixed with a firmware update, though the "simple fix" has been implemented in newly produced machines.
While most of the reports are tied to the 27-inch model, there are also users who have experienced the same symptoms with the 21.5-inch model. When it debuted in October, the new iMac was the best-selling desktop in the U.S. for the month. Various issues were reported quickly, though the screen flickering has remained for some time.

I am not the engineer that you requested, but I think that you are missing the boat with the question. The 27" iMac already accepts 1080p. Any new Mac with a mini-DisplayPort can connect with the 27" iMac with a simple and inexpensive m-DP to m-DP cable and drive the iMac's display at its full resolution, 2560x1440 pixels.
So if this is a bassackwards way of inquiring about why an XBox or some other device is limited to 720p, it is because the adapter (~US$150) used limits the resolution to 720p. If you use a scaler (~US$299), which has its own graphics chip, instead of an adapter, then it can drive the iMac's display at 1080p.

  • Where is Apple's CoreImage Fun House?

Does anyone where exactly i can find Apple's CoreImage Fun House? It's a sample app that comes with the Xcode developer tools.
I haven't found the Xcode developer tools in my system.
But I did find it on my Tiger and Leopard discs.
There is a folder named Xcode. But there is no
CoreImage Fun House application in it.
I've looked in the Finder too, but no luck finding that app.
Does anyone know where it is?
    thanks

You can get it here: http://developer.apple.com/TOOLS/xcode/. You may have to join the Developer connection but anyone can do that.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Business names, incorporating, and apple development account; etc.

    Hello All,
The apple development account I have is the "as an individual" type but I am planning to start a corporation in the near future (still distributing in the same way on the app store). When that happens is there anyway to change my existing account from "as an individual" to "as a corporation" and change my relevant information instead of paying for another dev account? Also, if I am currently registered to sell as a business (but not a corporation yet) how do I have my name appear as the business name on the apps that I sell? Thank you very much in advance.

Having just been through this recently, converting from an individual account to an LLC, I can say that it's an easy process to change though it may take some time. Call the ADC and explain what is happening. They will begin migrating your account from an individual to a business account. You will need to fill out your information again and accept the license agreements again. It took a couple of weeks to get everything done.

Lenovo have to call their customer number too, and the Solectron people like to put them on hold. Only when a Lenovo Executive gets involved like Mark_Lenovo can any problem with Solectron get resolved, as normal worker wouldn't have special contact numbers within the Solectron's management. So Lenovo call center workers get as frustrated as you if not more, as they hear complaints after complaints about them been thick and incompetent regarding depot repairs, when there is nothing more they can do, but obviously customers don't know the full story.

    Best regards,
    Apple Developer Program Support
Then i click on this activation code, and after, on internet i see that :
We are unable to activate your Apple Developer Program membership.
We have received your purchase information and will email you shortly to verify additional details.

Well, there are two trains of thought on this one.
First, and probably the most controversial, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. You are in exactly the same boat as lots of other developers. Apple have ALWAYS maintained that acceptance into the program during the Beta period was limited.
Second, EVERY iPhone developer is in EXACTLY the same position as you are. NOBODY has infinite cash reserves on which to operate and if you are basing your business on speculation then that's probably not the ideal way in which to operate but it is the best that you can do at the moment. If your product is good enough then it will succeed - whether it is released now or in 6 months time. Just think of this as the hard slog before the money comes in.
The world of software development is neither glamorous nor awash with riches and the road to success is not an easy one to travel. Be patient, accept the circumstances and remain positive, it'll turn out OK in the end.
