Licensing LMS 3.1

Hello,
I want to update the license for LMS 3.1 so i went throughout the Licensing link within Common Services - Server - Admin - Licensing and then clicked the update button, selected the path where the license file is located and then it shows a message error with the following information: "Could not update the license. The file does not have read permission for casuser. Select a valid license file with proper permissions."
Do you have any suggestions to solve this issue???

the permission is not within the file, it is just the read permission for casuser (the user used by LMS to start the services etc.) on that file;
So just open the file explorer and point it to the location where you saved the license file. Right-click on the file, open "Properties" then the "Security" tab and check the permissions for the user "casuser". If it is not listed, click on "Add", "From this location" shall point to your server, click on "Advanced", then "Find now" and select "casuer" from the list, then save the settings with "Ok", "OK", ...
After that, retry to update your license.

we have used lms 3.2 for about 3 yeah. Now the server which we installed lms fail. and the license come with that server

We had a problem with the count of the licenses, I asked to licensing team to resend the lic files, but when I updated the licenses, LMS sum all files, now I'll remove all the files and then reinstall the licenses.

Since you are on LMS 3.0 we should get you to LMS 3.2.

The license for 3.0 will work for 3.2 as well.
Then install the latest service pack LMS 3.2.1.

Once you are on LMS 3.2.1 you can use Software Center in LMS to see if you need any device packages for any of the application in the LMS bundle.
Ciscoview is one application you can check for device package updates, however make sure you update to LMS 3.2.1 first and then focus on the device packages for each app.

--Add the Casuser to the Administrator Group
and then reset the casuser password:
1. Go to CSCOpx\setup\support> and run the following command:
resetCasuser.exe
2. Restart the daemon manager:
Net stop crmdmgtd
Net start crmdmgtd
Let me know how it works
If above did not help then send me the syslog.log and screen shot of the EventViewer with the latest Application Error that you see there.

LMS 3.2 Invalid license error.

I recently installed LMS3.2 in the setup process it asked me for the *.lic file which I provided. I then installed diffrent updates and patches for LMS. LMS is working int the common services tab. but anything else gives me a error: The license file is invalid. Please click this link for information about obtaining a valid purchase license or click here for current licensing information Otherwise, please contact your Cisco representative for purchasing information.
Can anyone give me a tip on how to fix this error and get all the modules working. The license is a full license for all the add ons.

you need to have to original license file
go to NMSROOT\etc\licenses and backout all the .lic files;
restart dmgtd (on Windows)
net stop crmdmgtd
net start crmdmgtd
after this procedure you should be able to login and re-install the original license file under
Common Services > Server > Admin > Licensing

Prime LMS 4.2 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 license migration

A couple of months ago I upgraded WCS to Prime Infrastructure (WCS via NCS to PI 1.2 at that time). Meanwhile PI is running version 2.0. For some reason, when purchasing the upgrade licenses, I also got a 500 device LMS4.2 upgrade license.
The exact part numbers were:
R-W-PI12-M-K9 WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration
R-PI12-BASE-K9 Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and Software
L-PI12-LF-500-LIC Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 500 Device Lic PAK
L-PILMS42-500-M Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 500 Device Upgrade Lic
I have a virtual LMS appliance running where I installed the 500 device license I mentioned. I've actually never used LMS but that's a different story...
As I'm running low on PI device licenses (lifecycle licenses to be precise), the question is:
Is there an officially supported scenario to migrate these 500 LMS 4.2 licenses (that are already the result of a license upgrade) to PI 2.0?
If so: what part numbers do I need to purchase? I suppose I need
R-L-PI2X-U-K9 LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Upgrade
plus

Using LMS 3.2 to backup Generation 2 License files

Hi,
Can LMS3.2 be used to backup license files for gen two routers and switches? If not, is there another product that does it? How about LMS 4.0? I believe I can manually back up these files to a local FTP server, but I would like an automated proccess.

LMS does not handle these automatically, but you could use Netconfig to automate the backup. You could build a Netconfig job that copies the license files off to an FTP server, then deploy that job across all your ISRs. This will work in LMS 3.2 and 4.0.
You will need to create a user-defined template in Netconfig or just use the Adhoc template. The job needs to run in Enable mode (vs. Config mode). The FTP command will be interactive, so you'll need to use something like:
copy flash:/file.lic ftp://username:[email protected]

Could you please verify whether you have the port.data file in the specified location? If not, please create the file (the privileges should be the same as for all other files in this derectory) and put the number: 40401. Restart the daemons afterwards and verify the situation.

Ciscoworks LMS 3.0 License Upgrade

LMS License is maxed out. only had for 100 devices. devices has increased over 100. can i increase the license on LMS 3.0 without reinstall?

LMS 4.2 compliance license

Recently I look around Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
Looking Datasheet and Installation guide... and... It's so hard.
in licensing, I know how Lifecycle and Assuarance licenses are running.
but, I can't understand about the compliance licensing explanation.
anyone know what is this?

The Compliance License allows you to manage the state of your network with respect to many government and industry compliance-related standards such as PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, etc. Right now, compliance is only available on LMS 4.2, the license for which is included with PI 1.2.
If you install only a pure PI 1.2 setup, you will not have access to compliance features. PI 2.0 will include the full compliance functions. Reference.
If you don't have he compliance license, you will only be able to use the majority of the compliance tools (in an LMS installation) for a trial period of 90 days.

PI and LMS are both entitled products with your upgrade. You may install one, the other or both (but on separate hosts).
When you install either, you will need to use your Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) to download two license files - one for the base 100 devices and another for the 300 devices. You will need to do this separately for each product.

LMS 4.2 -- Now Available -- Licensing?

I just discoverd that Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 is downloadable.
Does anybody of you know, whether 4.2 can be installed "over" 4.1 with license of LMS 4.1,
or do we have to obtain an new license for LMS 4.1 (as needed for upgrade LMS 4.01 to LMS 4.1).
