Licensing over Internet / External Network

Dear Experts,
I have SAP B1 running fine in our Local Area Network at Head Office, now we have setup a new branch in another location. We have a Static IP Internet Connection at our Head Office. I have configured the DSL Router to forward ports 1433 (MSSQL) and 30000 (SAP B1 Licensing Port) to the Local Server in our network.
When SAP B1 Client was run from the branch, for the first time I hit the Change Company button to show Choose Company box, and changed the SQL Server to the Static IP xx.xx.xx.xx of the HO and it was able to pull down the list of companies availabe, next it showed the License Server Selection box, where I give the same Static IP and let the port number remain at 30000, after a timeout period I get an error message saying "Connection with license failed [Message 60070-15]"
There is a workaround for this (using remote desktop) but I am strongly not in favour of it, as it required me to allow remote user to login into the server, also my SAP Partner suggested a software called GoGlobal, and we already have one, but this again is license based, hence more cost. I am also convinced that the approach that I am trying will work, but I am just not getting it right.
I am also unsure if the solution falls within the scope of networking or SAP
I am at the end of my wits trying to resolve this
Regards
Murtaza

Hi Steffen,
I have Active Directory with Primary Domain Controller on both the sides, I am wondering how will the remote user connecting via Remote Desktop (RDP) be able to print a document locally on his printer
Yes I have experienced using B1 over RDP, and it was quite fast. But in this scenario the application is remotely run in the server's or the Terminal Server's scope, and there can be performance related issues when multiple users are using B1 via RDP, the Terminal Server has to be really a very quick.

  • Monitoring Exchange 2010 from external network

I would like to monitoring the following services pf Exchange 2010 from external network / internet
    1) SMTP (To confirm the mail has been accepted for delivery)
    2) ActiveSynch (Mobile device can login and synch different folders)
    3) WebApp (Users can log and access mail)
I have created a script using test-Mailflow, test-activesynchconnectivity and Test-WebServicesConnectivity and running it on server from LAN. I want to monitor the above 3 areas from Internet(external network) to make sure these services are available
    from Internet.
We have Barracuda as SMTP gateway, TMG for WebApp and MobileIron for ActiveSynch.
Will i be able to monitor these services from external network(internet) using test commands. What are the alternate ways to monitor the above services from external network.
    Thanks

We are trying to build exactly similar to ExRCA. ExRCA is good but it is manual. We would like to build something similar to ExRCA which can monitor exchange services periodically and send alerts.

  • HT3819 Hi there. If I use "home sharing" on the same wifi network, does it use internet data, or only sharing over a home network?

Hi there. If I use itunes over home sharing in my house on 2 pc's, does it use data from my internet, or does it work over local home network?

You'd need both computers to be connecting to the same wifi network in order to Home Share.

Problem? I'm not even sure what your problem is, much less whether it's a problem with the phone or the carrier.

  • RD Web Access From The Internet/External

I’m requesting help with accessing from the internet (external web) a RD Web Access Connection (SSL) that I setup and configured on a Windows 2008 R2 Server.
My setup is as follows. All server rolls are configured and running on one Windows 2008 R2 Server (VM).
    1.
    Remote Desktop Services
    a.
    RemoteApp Manager
    b.
    Remote Desktop Connection Manager
    c.
    RD Gateway Manager
    d.
    RD Session Host Configuration
    e.
    Remote Desktop Service Manager
    f.
    Remote Desktop Licensing
    2.
    Web Server (IIS)
All my configurations are working perfectly internal/intranet. I can access all published applications and remote desktop connectivity via (SSL) from IE 9 web browser.
The URL that is used internally is: (https://ServerName/RDWEB).
When I attempt to connect via the internet I’m getting an “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” message.
I’m using Dynamic DNS to access the server hosting the (IIS Remote Access Web Page URL), example (https://DDNS/RDWEB). I’ve opened ports 443 & 80
on my Untangle firewall, also port forwarding for 3389.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

    Freek,
Thank you for your response. I tested Telnet as you suggested, and both FQDN and IP address were able to establish a Telnet connection to my RD Web Access Server.
The “NSLOOKUP” resolved the DNS server name. Also, I am able to us the IP address, URL (https://IP/REWEB) in IE9 to browse to my RD Web Access Server site. The above should confirm DNS IS working correctly within my internal network.
My connection issue is from external/internet access to my RD Web Access Server site. All my networked devices (internal) are natted IP assigned behind an “Untangle
Gateway” firewall and routable internally only.
Although, I’ve opened ports, created firewall rules to pass traffic on ports 443, 3389 my problem still exist. Since my internal natted devices are not routable
from the internet, I am using a DDNS host URL from (www.dyndns.org) to route from the internet to my internal site server. As it stands now, I suspect the problem maybe at the Untangle Gateway”. I will focus my attention there.
Thank you again for your help.

  • DNS inconsistency when switching from corporate to external network

I have a problem I've been tracking for months, and just can't seem to figure out.
I'm trying to access my corporate website, www.company.com (for instance). From inside of my corporate network, this resolves to an internal IP address, and works fine.
From outside of my corporate network on my 10.5 MacOS, I cannot reach the site in Safari, getting a "cannot reach the server" message. If I lookup the IP address using a command line "host" query, and put that address in Safari, I can reach it. If I add that IP address to the /etc/hosts file, I can also reach it. But Safari doesn't seem to want to resolve the address on its own.
This extends to Mail.app, which also cannot connect to my mailserver unless I add it to the /etc/hosts file.
A windows machine at home, on the same network as I'm on, can reach www.company.com without any of the DNS trickery.
Best I can tell, for some reason MacOS alone cannot resolve the IP addresses of this domain, and only this domain, except when inside of my company network (in which case it is an internal address).
One weird oddity, is that if I connect up to the Internet with my Sprint mobile broadband card, everything works again.
I've tried clearing the DNS cache with "dscacheutil -flushcache" to no avail.
So on my airport interface only, from my home network from which a Windows machine does just fine, my Mac cannot resolve the IP address automatically of my corporate external network (basic "www" site) which resolves differently when I'm on the corporate network. The "host" command consistently works though, and manual insertion of the IP address works.
I'm not using any kind of VPN.
    Any ideas?

Also, and to clarify, I have changed DNS servers to a variety of public ones, as well as one I run, as well, to no avail. Same behavior.
I suspect that the Apple apps are still trying to resolve to my corporate (192.168.xx) address, despite the fact that I'm on an external network, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. (At least that is my guess.) Again, no VPN in place at all.

  • Can't connect to external network

Switched from a Netgear router to a Cisco E2500 and now my Samsung blue ray won't connect to internet.
It says physical connection established but can't connect to external network.
Thank you for any help in this matter

Before I suggest you for any kind of troubleshooting steps, I would like to ask few questions. Let me know the name of the ISP. Leaving Samsung TV, do you have any computer which can access the internet wired and wireless? If yes, what IP address do you get in the computers?

  • Is there a way to connect to my Time Capsule over internet from an iPad

    Hi,
Could anybody please help me configure how to connect to my Time Capsule 3TB over internet from my iPad.
I would like to use it as Cloud station over internet.
I was able to connect from my Mac on both "over internet and from my local network" using "Back to My Mac"
I was able to conncet also from my iPad from my local network.
I bought some file browser Apps which enable iPad to connect as "afp, smb" but I could'nt manage to make it work?
I made all the setting required: Enabling NAT Port Mapping, File Sharing, Sharing Disk over WAN, but without success?!
Shouldn't Apple includes and supports iPad to make such connection like "Back to My Mac" protocol.
I believe that Time Capsule is a great product, but I think Apple should consider more of software compatibilities.
    Thanks,,

    Thanks Bob,
I already tried FileBrowser and I did all the steps as per the instruction on their webpage, but alwasy give error message.
Could it be that "smb" protocol blocked by my internet provider.
I am connecting to internet using DHCP.
    Many thanks

  • Unable to share files over the local network, OS X Lion

About two weeks ago, my coworker and I realized that we were no longer able to share files over the local network. We have not made any changes to our preference settings. We are able to access FileMaker Pro databases files located on another computer in our office via the network, but we are unable to access any other files by trying to login to the computer remotely. We also have internet access. I am able to login to each of our work computers form home, but not from the office. I'm am not sure what has changed, but it is important that we have the ability to share files at work. Can you give me directions on how to fix our problem. Thanks!

I had this problem when I first setup my Mac. One thing I know is that File Sharing in System Preferences doesn't necessarily need to be on, because iTunes does all of the networking itself.
I know that you've checked and checked again on the firewall, but what I did was turn the firewall on. In the list of ALLOW, there should be a line that is labeled iTunes Music Sharing. Check it. It was the magic link, and all of my iTunes libraries on the three computers in the house (two Windows, one my Mac) could "see" each other.
Turning on the firewall might seem strange, but it worked for me.
    I hope this helps.

  • MPD over NFS which is not on LAN but over Internet

    Hello,
I tried MPD on a raspberry pi and a NFSv4 mount over vpn over internet.
Suffice to say, I was surprised when I saw mpd actually attempting to *read* one and every file in the huge 500GB repository. What the hell. Why does it need to "read" in the whole file??
Is there an alternative to mpd with similar capabilities, that doesnt suck? Or should I run mpd on the main server - but how do I then get the sound/mp3s to the raspberry pi?

    HiImTye wrote:
you could do library updates from the NFS server and save the library info to the NFS share, then point your MPD server you use to listen on to those library files. then you don't have to struggle with network speeds on updates.
but this does make me curious why it is reading the entire songs. it could just be that you have a lot of songs so that it seems like it is? idk
I scp'ed over the database file from main server which had indexed/updated the db with about 80k songs.
Then mounted the nfs share to the rasperry pi to the same absolute paths as on the main server (why not).
This works fine, I see only the songs that I play are transferred quite fast, playing is almost instantenous, and they seem to be cached somewhere. Seeking within files is also fast, especially once already played.
Now as you say, the database file needs to be kept in sync between the NFS server and raspberry, one way would be to put it as well in some nfs share, or sshfs or whatever, or even cronjob it with rsync, since I wont be doing database updates/adding albums that often on the main server.
Would be good if something like this was documented somewhere. Like the wiki. And an option in mpd to ignore update commands to its database - thats now dangerous - it does read all the files, and even if it only tries to read headers - for some shares such as 1 or 2TB of songs, thats too much. Now the mpd on rasperry is more of a proxy.
So yes, this does work now, the slight downside is that the android client mpdroid is not that good - it doesnt respect volume keys when not in view'and such, but one can live with that.

  • Outlook is not connecting through Workgroup Machine over internet using Outlook Anywhere

users can connect successfully using outlook anywhere over internet if machine are on domain, well problem with workgroup machine that are not connecting over the internet as outlook keep prompting password well i have configured outlook Anywhere with
default negotiate authentication as well as ssl offloading is checked and using same name for internal and external urls. also have valid 3rd party certificate configured on server.

    Hi,
Step 1 :In addition to that , please use remote connectivity analyzer to check outlook anywhere in internet .
From that we came to know the exact error .
Step 2: Most of the organisations are having an ISA or TMG firewall to create web published rules for exchange services .In case if you have you need to check the rule created for outlook anywhere is properly configured or not.
If you have such kind of firewall's ,You can test the OA rule by using the option test rule in ISA or TMG firewall .
Most probably you can able to find out the exact cause with the help of EXRCA.
Please reply me if you have any queries.

  • Difference between Share Disks over WAN vs. over Internet using Bonjour?

I would like to find out the Difference between selecting the "Share Disks over WAN" option only vs also selecting the additional "Share disks over Internet using Bonjour" option. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

you can access drives plugged into your AirPort extreme base station from outside the network by typing in the IP address of the modem/base station in the "Connect to Server" dialogue on the Finders "Go" menu (or press Command+K when in Finder). You can get the base station IP by opening the AirPort Utility from your utilities folder, and click "manual setup" at the very bottom of the summary tab should be the IP address given the base by your modem.
As long as you have "Share Disks over WAN enabled" when you connect using the IP from another location you will be prompted to authenticate to the AirPort Base station and if authentication is successful you will be prompted to mount a disk (the disk plugged into your AirPort base station should be the only available disk to mount).
Keep in mind you must give out the Base Station password unless you allow guest connections to the disk.

  • Modeling over Internet with BPA

Can we use Oracle BPA for modeling business processes over internet?
(can modeling be done through web browser... if the BPA (client) is not installed )
if yes what are the components needed to make this happen? (Application server kind off !)
(if one guy is sitting outside the company network and wants to do modeling by accessing repository .. how is this possible without client installation of BPA)

you can install Oracle BPA Suite Web Client Components, it is in the installation guide in paragraph 3.4.1.4
Before you can run it you need to run Run Oracle Business Process Repository Setup on the computerwhere your Web server is installed.
    Hope this helps,
