Licensing Subsystem has failed Catastophically
I downloaded trial versions of CS3 Illustrator and Photoshop last week, today adobe downloaded a heap of updates for it and i installed them
Now when I go to open the programmes this message pops up
"Licensing Subsystem has failed Catastophically"
I read on another forum to uninstall the programmes and then use wincs3clean to get rid of the programmes off my computer.
I followed instructions, but it wont even let me uninstall the programmes, so cant use the wincs3clean
Any ideas on what i can do to clean them off there?

Run it anyway at level 2, and then try to reinstall the applications.

I have cs3. When I try to open any of the programs I get error message that says " the licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall or call customer support." Customer support says there is no phone support for this product and chat told me they can't help with it either. ok.....so where do I go for the support? all I wanna do is use illustrator.

Have you tried to reinstall using the full three step way?
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Tried opening cs3 got licensing subsystem has failed catastropically

I have creative suite 3 master collection with the licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. I've tried the FlexLicensing fix with no success.

if you read it it says to open the Flex folder and change the name. I did that and the apps work but I was not asked for the serial number again. I was in in 10.4.11 and just upgraded to 10.5.4 could that have caused this as I was running fine before. -
I have gone through these help files and still cannot get the product to work again.
The problem came out of the blue and I received the message, 'The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically' I then did what was said and I uninstalled and then reinstalled but it froze.

but it only installs 2 components (Acrobat and Share Components).

The FLEXnet component keeps stopping. Even though I keep starting it, it just stops 1 minute later.
Have Adobe 'revoked' the serial number so that it no longer works?
I have tried installing from both the disc and from download but no joy.

I did a system restore to a previous date to resolve a conflict with a beta license of PSD CS5. I am a software tester and my boss gave me
a CS5 beta. Now, the beta CS5 is uninstalled but when I open CS3, I get this error:
"AMT Subsystem Failure. The licensing subsystem has failed
catastrophically. Please reinstall or call support."
My copy of CS3 was licensed to a company which has since shut down for business; I do not have any CS3
reinstall disc.
I restored to a date prior to my installation of the CS5 beta. I ensured that
there are no CS5 files on my computer, and that the CS
3 folder *looks* unchanged. I have tried restoring to another restore point
date, and I got the same error. I cannot repair my CS3 install without a CS3 install disc.
The CS5 beta now will not install either. This CS5 beta is working fine on the work computer which is comparable to my laptop with this problem.
Now I have no working license of PSD. Please advise. Adobe support advised me to ask here. Yay.

What help do you hope to get on a public user to user forum about Beta software (aside from the fact that in doing so, you broke the rules and spirit of the NDA)? Ask your prerelease program manager and use the respective non-public forums. The rest is beside the point - if you don't have backups of your installers, then you probably never really owned it and should long have deactivated it, because the package was sold to some unfortunate soul who doesn't even know that he's missing an activation (which you used all the time).

I'm using CS3. First I was using it on XP. Got my new computer and have been using it on Windows 7 pro for 6 months now with no problems. Yesterday my Java updated, and now CS3 suite does not work.
1st, I got the: "Licensing for this product has stopped working—You cannot use this product at this time. YOU MUST REPAIR THE PROBLEM BY UNINSTALLING and then reinstalling this product or by contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help." message.
Since it said to REINSTALL, that's what I did. Only it would not install.
Adobe customer service is a joke. They with their non USA thick accents could not offer any help. They seemed stupid around this issue.
Then I did a system restore thinking I can go back to "things" before all the drama started.
Instead of fixing things, I got other message: "AMT subsystem failure—The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall or call customer support."
Again, tried to reinstall, and still will not allow me to install.
PLEASE HELP! I USE PHOTOSHOP EVERYDAY!

the first two solutions did not work now i'm repairing permissions. If that doesn't work and i have to reinstall the whole Suite I need to make sure my preferences for each will remain the same. How do I do that without overriding the prefs and I loose all my settings!

Tried all the steps from the Knowldege base and ran the Clean script CS4but still the issue persists, installed the License Recovery Tool still the same problem
Time to call techcnial support. They handle installation issues.

Yes, I know CS3 is old.
Upon launch of my Photoshop CS3 (legit copy, purchased when CS3 was new) yesterday, I received the message in the title of this post. I Googled around and found this website: http://www.tightcss.com/adobelicense/adobe_catastrophe.htm - I tried everything there to no effect. I tried to reinstall to no avail. I'll be facing a hard deadline in 3 days. Can anyone help??Sorry, beyond that I haven't experienced the issue and don't have a lot of advice to give. Perhaps someone else here has solved this particular problem before and can chime in.
Given that the problem sounds like some kind of failure of your system (stalled services, etc.) I would have thought a System Restore should have corrected it.
When you mentioned "tried to reinstall to no avail", did you run the Adobe Creative Suite complete removal tool?

Unfortunately, given Adobe's (questionable) policy of leaving people who don't upgrade to the latest software out in the cold, support-wise, it may be that outside of restoring your entire system from a backup or even reinstalling OS and everything, you're out of luck. I hope that's not the case.
