Life Drive Interface Cable

I recently received a Life Dive without an instruction manual nor a USB cable to connect to my computer. I'm hoping one of you out there no longer has a need for one or the other of these and would be willing to send it to me?! Seriously folks, I haven't the funds to pay the $30 for a cable, I have been getting operating instructions from an on-line site and that's fine, but I really need an interface connection! Thanks!!!!!! You can e-mail me at "[email protected]" if you can help.

  • VME PCI-6200 hard drive interface cable identification

    Hopefully someone on this forum still uses the VME PCI-6200.  I'm looking for a replacement hard drive interface cable, 50-pin female-female, connecting a 2.5" PATA hard drive to the PCI-6200 board.  Does anyone know the cable standard or where a replacement can be gotten?  I'm enclosing pictures and the board spec for identification purposes.  Thanks!

    jambraun,
    According to this website I found      http://www.pc-pitstop.com/scsi_adapters/
    It is an IDC 50 connector.
    I briefly tried to find a retailer that sold them, but had no luck.
    Best of luck!

  • Second HDD bracket and interface cable for DV7 3110ea

    I apologize if this has already been covered on here.
    I need a hard drive bracket and interface cable to fit a second SATA HDD. I think the HP part numbers are 611935-001 for the interface and 532591-001 for the bracket.
    Can anyone confirm this and possibly suggest somewhere I could get them from as the HP partmaster site was not much help.
    I have found a few online suppliers of these parts and the prices vary from around £22 to £35 each. I would like to be sure they are the correct parts before ordering them.
    This question was solved.

    I got the hard drive caddy from here  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220690235689 They do appear to have more in stock and cost a lot less than other online suppliers I tried.

  • Back up drive interface vexation

    I have a mid 2007 iMac (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo), and recently upgraded the OS to Mavericks. Coincidentally, after the upgrade my external backup drive (LaCie d2 Extreme), which I use with Time Machine, decided to go on the blink and won't start up and connect to the mac. I'll be going through the process of checking the interface cables, power source etc., but I fear the worst. Rather irritating as it's supposed to be the safety net and has had comparatively little use.
    Anyway....  I could be faced with the prospect of searching for a new backup drive, which brings me to my question: is the tyranny of obsolescence so merciless that I won't realistically find a backup drive that my iMac can connect to by Firewire800? I had been using Firewire because it provided the fastest interface of the options at the time.  From what I can see, USB seems to be the standard interface, but will my no doubt "vintage" USB ports be compatible or does it not matter?
    Thanks for any advice or insights.
    Chris

    Thank you -   I'm in the process of tracking down a replacement PSU to see if it makes any difference, and I think I've found a seller. I do hope it is just the PSU that's behind this trouble! Fingers crossed.
    Thanks for clarifying the USB issue. I tried to interrogate the iMac (in System Information) see what speed my USB connections are but I didn't really know how to interpret the info it presented!
    Thanks again for responding.

  • Adaptation of LIFA (LabVIEW Interface For Arduino) to other Arduino compatible boards

    Hello evryone,
     I am trying to use a ''Sakura board", which is an Arduino compatible board, having similar programming as Arduino. This board is manufactured by Renesas; more specifications on it can be found on the following link: http://sakuraboard.net/gr-sakura_en.html
    What I would like to know, is if the firmware used for LIFA to interface Arduino with labview, or the ChipKit firmaware, can be used to this kind of Arduino compatible boards.
    My aim, is to use the Sakura Board for acquiring signals from various pins(Be it digital or analog), and setting other pins (Digital) parralelly, using labVIEW, as this is done using LIFA, or LabVIEW interface for ChiKit!!
    Thanks in advance for your support.

    I haven't had any experience with the Sakura board, so can only go on the information on the website.
    I've used the Arduino LabVIEW interface previously, and it basically uses serial communications between the PC and the Arduino. This serial interface is provided by the on-board USB-serial converter (an ATMega8u2 running custom firmware).
    From what I can tell about the Sakura, it appears as a storage device when plugging into a PC, and doesn't seem to have a USB to serial converter. If this is the case, then the LIFA toolkit won't work. That said, my understanding of the Sakura board may be incorrect (for example I'm unsure what operation modes the slide switch changes between). If you can confirm it has a USB-serial port then LIFA may work. I guess the key thing is that the serial port is required.
    You may be able to use a software serial port (http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/SoftwareSerial) on the Sakura to communicate with a PC, though that would require a PC with a serial port, or an external USB-serial converter. This approach would also require you to modify the LIFA arduino code (located in vi.lib\LabVIEW Interface for Arduino\Firmware\LIFA_Base) to reference the software serial port. It's probably a long shot that this will work, as the software serial library has been written for AVR chips, making use of their specific internal timers.

  • Is There a Standard or Common JNI to the (POSIX) C Driver Interface?

    I have the source code in (POSIX) C for an RS422 Serial Driver.
    I've been asked to create the JNI for using the 8 driver interfaces:
    install()
    open()
    read()
    write()
    ioctl()
    select()
    close()
    uninstall()
    This seems like something that enough people would want to do that there'd be a Standard or Common Practice way to do this. However, my Google-foo has let me down on finding it.
    Since I have the source code, I've considered re-compliling the driver code into a library and writing the JNI to call into that library. The potential problem I see with this is that normally the driver would get dynamically linked into the kernel, and the calls from Java would run the library functions in userspace.
    I've also considered creating the JNI to call clib functions (read, write, ioctl, ...). Then the driver would get used normally, but the problem I see with this is that install() and uninstall() do not seem to have a standard (POSIX) C function that directly corresponds do them. Most Linux forums mention insmod and mknod to install the driver and make the device node, but LynxOS uses dr_install and dev_install.
    So here's my question: Is there a Standard or Common Practice way to access a driver from Java?

    870745 wrote:
    So what I was hoping to find out about was a standard or common practice that applies to the code ...As applies to java.comm?
    I doubt there is such a thing. There just are not that many implementations. And most are proprietary so they are not saying.
    You can look at rxtx (java comm api) and download the reference implementation and see which ways they do it. If they both do it one way that might be good. If they do it different ways then neither means much.

  • Problem in data acquisition for cRIO-9076 wth c series drive interface module 9516

    I am using LabVIEW for my project i.e., the speed control (using PID) of a motor and want to create a vi for the same.
    The specifications of the products being used are as follows:
    1) Motor: AKM24F (dc motor)
    2) CompactRIO: cRIO-9076
    3) C Series Servo Drive Interface: NI-9516
    I am facing problem regarding the real time interface between the motor and PID block in labVIEW i.e. in the data acquisition part to be specific. Please suggest a way in which I can successfully acquire the analog data(speed) from the motor and vice versa in the vi.

    What is the priority of the VI you're running?  I'd be concerned that maybe you've starved out the ethernet transmit thread or something.

  • Replace SATA drive power cable

    One of the SATA drive power cables in my Power G5 2.0 DP died. Now I am using Y-splitter to get power from another port. It works but looks messy. I did quite a googling but I can only find power cable for iMac G5s. Could some one please tell me where to find replacements, or the definition of the pins so probably I can make one from the iMac version?

    Hi
    Any of the cables should work, the only differences being their length, one comes bundled with a SATA data cable and one is a splitter, allowing an ATA and SATA drive to be powered off the same existing molex connector. I'd just double check their male/female orientation before ordering though. It may be a shorter cable is better to reduce cable clutter inside the computer. I picked a SATA drive that included a legacy molex power connector on the drive itself, to keep the cable clutter to a minimum.

  • Hard drive power cable

    I bought a graphite imac and need a hard drive power cable.Will any cable from a slot loading crt imac work?Whats the part #?I do have one for a tray loading imac but its different.Thanks!

    Nope I'm wrong. It appears to be the same width as a SCSI cable at the logic end (I've got a SCSI and it plugs in fine) and IDE on the HD end.
    You could actually make it work with the IDE part of that tray loaders cable. I have both there and will test if you like. Only the HD would work.
    I may have some spares here if you need one.

  • Palm Life Drive Completely Dead

    I'm reading a lot of posts in a large number of places.  Many people indicating complete dissatisfaction with the Life Drive.  I've used my since my wife got it for me a few years ago at about $500.00.  Mine is completely DEAD.  Will not do anything, will not turn on.  Nothing.  I'm wondering, since there are a lot of post about this is there anyone who has gotten theirs repaired and if so where did they go to get it repaired.  I hate to throw away $500 but I'm wondering if it's worth it.  Many people has expressed complete disatisfaction with dealing with Palm.  Does anyone make a unit that is comparable to the Life Drive that I might look into?

    The LifeDrive was discontinued many years ago...  It was a great device, but suffered from the fragility of the 4gig Hard Drive inside it.
    Repairs can be found at usedpdaparts.com or pdaparts.com.   Usedpdaparts.com offers a "LifeFlash" upgrade that removes the broken Hard Drive, and replaces it with a Compact Flash card slot that has a 4gig card inside it.  PalmOS is reloaded on it, and you end up with a reliable device!

  • Life Drive and Vista

    Is there any fix so that I can sync my Life Drive through Vista with programs that have regular updates?  Does anyone know if Palm plans to provide Vista friendly Life Drive manager?
    I'm very frustrated at this point because this issue has limited the usefulness of my Life Drive for my professional life.  I need to get a new phone very soon and wonder if I shouldn't breakdown and get a Smartphone.  I like having a small regular phone for all my lives and the Life Drive for professional time.  Thoughts?

    Hello horselady and welcome to the Palm forums.
    Is there any fix so that I can sync my Life Drive through Vista with programs that have regular updates?
    Palm Desktop 4.1.4e should work, for the most part, on Windows Vista.  You can install Palm Desktop 6.2 on a Vista computer and the LifeDrive will sync with it, however, ACCESS has removed some features that were previously available in the older Palm editions of Palm Desktop.  (Long story short, Palm no longer owns the rights to the Palm OS and the HotSync Manager.)
    The latest Windows Vista information can be found here.
    Does anyone know if Palm plans to provide Vista friendly Life Drive manager?
    No, there will be no Vista compatible version of the Palm LifeDrive Manager application.  If you want to work with the files on the "LifeDrive" volume, you will need to put the LifeDrive in Drive Mode to access the files.
