Life Events - P&F Replacing Guided Procedures (GP)?

Hi,
I have seen that SAP replaced some of the Life and Work Events Guided Procedures with Processes and Forms. Is this the direction that SAP is going? I am asking so that we will develop any customer specific LWE's with the appropriate technology.
Thank you,
JP (Jari) Sallasvaara

I found that SAP is replacing Guided Procedures with a new product.

  • Life work events and Guided Procedure

    Hi,
We have installed ESS business package on EP7 portal and connected to ECC 6.0. We want to configure Life and Work Events (LWE). When a user clicks on Life and Work Events Tab > First Day, Marriage, Benefit for that matter any link on that page, It takes users to Folder selection page of guided procedure to select the process.
The question is that is it suppose take a user to respective guided procedure as First Day or etc. rather than asking user to select the guided procedure process from folder.
    Thanks,

If default configuration takes to actual process that make us feel we are missing something in configuration.
Lakshmi, Do you have any clue as what is missing to be configured since it is taking us to folder selection page?
    Thanks for your help,

  • Guided Procedures Life & Work Events Help Needed

Our HR Department recently saw an SAP demo of the ESS Life and Work Events, which uses Guided Procedures.  We are now struggling with the decision to use Guided Procedures for the On-Boarding or if this same type of functionality can be delivered with HCM Processes and Forms.  The biggest draw for the Guided Procedures is the u201Cchecklistu201D type delivery.  Does anyone know if it would be possible to use HCMPF and have a similar u201Cchecklistu201D that the new hire can work through.  I heard somewhere that SAP is moving away from recommending the use of Guided Procedures and is instead recommending using HCMPF.

did you follow this http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/Reusing+ESS+Java+applications+in+ESS+ABAP+Role?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sap.com As such work events are not delivered as such in new releases, you can reuse it however, check above.

  • How to enable disable result status of callable object in Guided Procedures

    hi,
Currently we are using guided procedures to handle Life Event changes in ESS. Each process has sequential block with Respective actions and callable object assigned to each action.
Most of the callable objects we are using are either standard Java Webdynpro screens that came with ESS business package or custom ABAP Webdynpro's. When we created callable objects with these web dynpro's there is tab that sets result status like "Complete", "Exit" etc.
The issue we are currently facing with result status is, there is no way that control is passed to result status enabled for specific step of guided procedure from the callable object. For example we created callable object for Benefits enrollment screen with result status "Complete". When user initiated guided procedure to make changes to Benefits enrollment, make changes to plans and click save. Once User click Save we want to send control to result status to get enable, till then we don't want the "Complete" button to be enabled on the Guided procedure step.
Is there way to control the result status button based on the action performed by user in respective screen/step of Guided Procedure?
Could someone suggest is there better replacement for guided procedures where I can use some other framework/process to achieve better functionality than GP's.
    Thanks
    Ravi.

  • ESS Guided Procedures My Firs Days link, GRANT POINTS!!!!

    Hi All,
I have created a custom GP for the First Days in ESS and I have to replace existing First Days GP
Area Page for Life and work Events contains links (eg First Days , Benefits etc)  First Days link trigger execution of GP, calling it by Process ID
Question: Where in IMG, I configure that relation
My First Days Link --- Guided Procedure Process ID?

    In continuation of my question...
In order to use Life and Work Events application (For Non US)..
I updated the process template id in resource definition in SPRO transaction.
    Earlier it was :
URL Parameter : process.template.id=CECE64A19C8F11DAA5C1000E7FA67AEB&process.autostart=true (for US)
now I have changed it to
URL Parameter : process.template.id=CE140F51C11711D9824C000BCD45EE55&process.autostart=true (for non US)
So now I guess I am actually picking up non US application..
But now when I try to access application :
Personal Data in My first days
    Family/member dependent
I am getting below error :
The following ABAP Exception occurred: SERVICEKEY_INVALID:
    caused by
Caused by: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFC_Fault_Exception: Fault name: SERVICEKEY_INVALID, fault text: SERVICEKEY_INVALID
I do not even know whether i should revert back to old process template id for US country

  • ESS Guided procedure Default role assignment

We are implementing ESS in EP7 with ECC 6.0
After setting up Life and Work events it seems that there are default roles Administrator and Overseer that need to be assigned to portal roles, I am just not sure what portal roles to assign.  Are these supposed to be assigned to Guided procedure type roles or to MSS type roles?
    Any insight would be helpful

    Hi Gail,
These roles are for the GP processes.
The Default Roles should be configured for each process
This is an important step as this will ensure that the process is started without the user having to assign users who have will administer and oversee the execution of the process. Typically the users who are assigned to the processes as Administrators are the HR administrators and overseers could be managers. However this is not a hard-and-fast rule and this has to be decided at the time of implementation.
    hope this helps!!

  • Guided Procedures roles

    Hello all,
We are currently using ERP 2005 and SAP EP 7.0 and I have the Life and work events working in the system. I am also aware of where they are configured and how you can add/delete any section in the process.
What i would like to know is:
When i click on a 'My First Days' Process link, it asks me to define an administrator and an overseer. I was wondering if there is a way i can bring the end user directly to the screen where he/she starts entering the details instead of being asked to specify an administrator/overseer.
In other words, i want to get rid of the step where the user is asked to specify who the administrator is.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bhushan.

This blog is very useful to u and in this blog she is explained what roles to needed for Guided Procedure. The Composite Application Framework role is used for the Guided Procedure in the Portal.First create the user and then assign the CAF role for that user. This is way to obtain the Guided Procedure for that user.

  • How to pass MDM Record ID in Webdynpro to use in Guided Procedure

    Hello Experts,
I am facing the following requirement. I Have two WebDynpro Screens calling an MDM Item Detail View.
I want to set up an easy process using Guided Procedure.
Therefore I need to pass an internal ID from Screen A (request) as an input Parameter for screen B (approve).
How can I handle this in my wrapper application? Is did not find any guides. You have some ideas?
I should throv an "saveRecord" Event containing this ID to a event listener (Screen B).
Sorry I am a beginner in WD :o)
    Thanks in advance
    Carsten

    Hi,
You can try doing this way in the application
    1. check if the record is checked out,
If yes, then get the original record id via the command RetrieveOriginalsByCheckoutRecordCommand.
    else
You have the original record Id in hand.
    Best Regards,

  • Clean Job: Guided Procedures - Locked Objects & Background Action Process Q

I opened this thread also in Portal Content Development thread,
but I think its more useful here:
    Hi Experts,
We are running several Workflows on our Portal, they often lock objects and use the background action processor queue.
You can unlock these objectes manually by selection 'Unlock Objects' (which is below Guided Procedures - Administration)
And you can delete the successfull processed action queues (Guided Procedures - Administration - Maintain Queues).
Is it possible to this in a weekly running job? All objects should be unlocked, the queue should only be deleted for actions which where processed successfully and are older then a date.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks for any help,
    Chris

    Hi Sitarama,
    <br/>
<br/>Thanks very much for your fast reply. Yes, the smartforms are custom-built. Besides the deadlock error, there still has some errors in SP01 says "Could not pass request to host spool system". But it previews wonderfully in SP01. The detailed SP01 error log is like below:
    Print request processing log
Errors occurred processing this print request
Error during print request output. l_rc = 99
    There may be no printout
Most important attributes of spool request
    Request number 2828

    Client 800
    Owner 8000199
    Request attributes
    Time created   2010120906014800
    Remaining life  +00007235800
    Dispo 1 (Go/Hold) G
    Dispo 2 (Keep/Delete)     D
    Dispo 3 (Indirect/Direct) D
    Default output device LOCA
    Default no. copies  1

    Print request number 1
    Print request attributes
    Time created   2010120906020500
    Output device LOCA
    Format ZTEST
What do you mean parallel processing on table level? The smartforms extract data from different SAP tables and then transfer to smartform interface, then they can added in form pages. Do you think this results parallel processing towards tables?
    <br/>
Thank you and hope to hear more from you.
    Best Regards,
    Jeff

  • EHP1 and Guided Procedure

    Hi all,
In EHP1, the Guided Procedure was fully replaced by Galaxy? I've saw that only Web Dynpro GUI can be used. Does anybody know if have plan to support Visual Composer too?
    Best regards

    Hello Isias,
please note that it depends on your selection before downloading the preview version to have GP available:
In [Download selection|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/20877bcc-bb51-2b10-aa8b-8308ed488199] selct the first Option "Composition Environment (contains Java EE).
The GP roles are available in the UME but you have to assign them to the respective User via [user admin|http://localhost:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcsecumewdumeadmin/UmeAdminApp].
Enter your user, mark it and select modify in the left down "Details of User...". In available roles, select "all Data Sources" as search criteria, enter gp and select go. Mark all the roles you will need and press add. Don't forget to save this assignment.
Let me know if this solves your problem, as with the check of the original installation, the preview version in SDN is based on, the roles are available.
    Kind regards
    Berndt

  • Guided Procedures - Urgent help please

    Hello,
Can anybody please help me with the information I am looking for?
Our issues with EP Guided Procedures (GP) are in two spots:
    1) Parameter Passing - Use of  “out”  and “in” parameters from the process context to return / send values from Web Dynpro is not possible using out-of-box functionality.
    2) Eventing / Wait states/ "eventing" - In GP, when multiple parallel processes come to the final decision point, the automated decision point is processed based on the first process that arrives to the decision point. It is not possible to ‘Hold’ a process until the other parallel processes are complete.
Which of the following statements is true with respect to the issues we are having?
    a) the product has these capabilities, and we've just not properly taken advantage of them;
    b) the functionality doesn't currently exist - but is planned for near releases;
    c) the functionality doesn't exist - nor is it planned to be delivered by SAP.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Jagadish

    Hi David,
Assuming that they are actually blocks in a process (I do not see other possibility of actually handling two different processes instead of two blocks in a process, but I will confirm with the person who brought the issues to my notice), is it possible to specify exit condition for one block that also depends on the exit condition of second block? That means even if the exit condition of one block is met, can it wait for the second block's exit condition?
In BPM we have Fork step where I can specify parallel branches and design the process such that it runs through certain number of branches. Is anything available like this in GP? Can you please provide any documentation which explains the parallel block handling in GP?  As I mentioned in my other response, I am familiar with BPM, but never used GP.
    Thank you very much.

  • Two life events on the same date

Can you please advise how to handle two life events on a single date.

    Dharmesh
If you have two life events on one date then you have to void the one manually and process the other. Also you can define collapsing life events and setup which life events will take precedence.
You can use following document to setup collapsing life events
Oracle HRMS Compensation and Benefits Management Guide (US)
