LifeCam Studio not retaining ZOOM settings

I have a requirement (a Kiosk based exhibit) to set and retain the zoom setting of a LifeCam Studio. The zoom factor needs to stay locked, in order to properly frame in a scene. The zoom settings is retained with a machine reboot, however, the zoom
resets to the default farthest out setting after a shutdown.
I have an interactive application that was developed last year, that just accesses the video for frame images.
Is there an easy way to set and retain the zoom setting, without having to have programmer modify the code, using some MS API's?

I understand your issue. The DHCP management console won't save the view customize settings.
We could customize the DHCP management console using MMC (Microsoft Management console)snap-in, customize it and save it to a place. Doing this makes the console remembered the configuration.

Firefox 29.0.1 Does Not Retain Options Settings. Cookies Enabled.

On only one of my XP profiles, Firefox 29.0.1 does not retain the settings made under tools-options. I have deleted the cookies from Mozilla on the chance they may have been corrupted and have also cleared the web cache. The problem remains. Also, it is not clear in the new version how to have Firefox ask you each time before a cookie is accepted. Thanks for you help.

You can try to delete the cookies.sqlite and permissions.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

WAE-674 not retaining network settings when configured using recovery CD

Here is the story so far:
Disks crashed. Installed new disks. Inserted the recovery CD. wiped disks and installed .bin image. tried to configure network settings. No error message but interface settings did not stick. I am 100% positive that the network settings were correct. cannot connect to the device via telnet. Can see the device with CDP but no IP address configured.

Could I be having these issues because I am using a monitor and keyboard not a console cable?
Old style console cable not available. equipment is difficult to procure because I'm in the middle of nowhere.
Could the issues be because of the 64bit architecture of WAE-674 i.e could I be using the wrong recovery disk?

The problem is that as soon as the serial port becomes active, the device stops displaying the output to the screen/keyboard so you'll really need an "old style" console cable to see what is really happening with your device.

You can connect a keyboard to any USB port and connect a monitor to the video connector to troubleshoot the BIOS boot process. However, video output is for troubleshooting only during the BIOS boot process. The video output stops displaying when the serial port becomes active. To monitor the boot process in normal operation, use the serial console port.
The Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) connector is not supported.
The systems-management Ethernet connector is not supported.

The data of all installed lightweight themes (Personas) and its background color and text color is stored in the lightweightThemes.usedThemes pref in JSON object format ({"id":"#","name":"xxx",...}).
There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.
If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Nesting does not retain audio settings

This one has me stumped. I am working on a project that is being built in segments. As the segments are built I am nesting to later bring them for the final output. One and only one of the nested sequences is giving me trouble.
Each of the nested sequences has one audio track, mono for VO. All other show two lines of audio when the sequence has been saved as a nested item. When this one is saved it too shows that it has two audio tracks and plays back fine until you take it out of the timeline and then try to re-import it, magicly only one of the tracks appears and only plays back on the right channel. In the browser it does show two outputs just like the rest do but will only pull one in the timeline.
Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong or have had a similar experiance?

Something silly you might check is to load the nest into the viewer and check to see that both channels aren't panned right.
Usually when I get stuff like this it's a render issue which is why I suggested making sure all of your audio is 48k and not needing a render.
Also, like Steve suggested if your audio is all mixed down it shouldn't be doing that.
Worst case scenario - can you select all and copy paste your sequences into a final sequence instead of bringing the nests in?

IBooks does not retain brightness settings after sleep mode. Is there a way to configure this?

When setting the brightness setting and then putting the iPad to sleep, the setting is not being saved when starting back up again. I can't seem to find any configuration option that controls this feature. Any ideas / options?

NX7600GT-VT2D256E-HD - nView Profiles not retaining screen settings

Setup new NX7600GT-VT2D256E-HD on new machine. Using dual monitors on desktop and TV. Created two profiles; one for using two flat panel monitors and another profile for using 1 flat panel and TV. I had to use the TV Wizard for the TV to work, everything fine. I can switch from profile and back with no problems, EXCEPT when I restart the computer, I have to run the TV Wizard again. Any ideas? Firefox will not retain all saved settings on BBC Website

The BBC Home page will not retain all settings.
The local area page (weather and news) is fine, but each time I increment the number of news stories, both national and local to the maximum, it returns to the default when I restart Firefox. It worked fine on previous versions of FF.
I have deleted the cookie and restarted FF, and this worked, but it has now returned to the default. FF=4.0.1

Its not just the web site that is recorded, but the page also.

Windows not retaining settings after 10.4.11 update

Hello everyone,
I just updated my PowerBook G4/667 Titanium to Mac OS X 10.4.11 (from 10.4.1) and everything is working fine but there is one annoying problem. Every time I restart, when I open some of the windows on my computer, they do not retain their settings - settings like the list view and window size, for example. Some folders DO retain their settings when I open them and some don't (like the Applications folder and the Macintosh HD folder/window which I have to reset every time I restart).
I have to keep setting them to list view every time after a restart. How can I fix this so that they stay the same all the time? Does this have anything to do with the invisible .DS_store files? I don't understand why some windows retain their settings and why some don't.
I've repaired permissions numerous times. Cleared cache files. Tried setting the "global" view from the Finder > View > Show View Options to "All Windows". Tried everything I know.
Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix this?

Hi Gerard, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, move these files to the Desktop.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Then reboot once more.

Every time I close FF it reverts to new install settings and doesn't retain any settings, I have uninstalled & reinstalled but no change - help

I installed FF and used it without issue, but on loading it for me next session and every subsequent session it reverts to the state it was as a new install including not retaining any settings for loaded extensions. This is a total pain and is likely to lead me to uninstalling if I cannot find a fix soon. I have uninstalled and re-installed and tried re-set but neither has made any difference.

You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.

Export to PDF doesn't retain page settings

Create a report with lots of columns and then change the page settings to be landscape and shrink to fit. Now run the report and print the report as a PDF. It works as expected.
Now export this same report as a PDF. The export will not retain the page settings. Instead, it will export the PDF in portrait and it will not shrink to fit.
If you email the report to someone, it also doesn't retain the page settings.
I opened a TAR on this issue and I was told this was not a current feature of Discoverer. Exporting does not retain page settings by design and it would be an enhancement request to get this new functionality.
We build a lot of custom Oracle Reports right now so that users can drill from one level to another. With OracleBI Discoverer, I can now do this with linking to sheets. With Oracle Reports, I can render the report in PDF format which is a business requirement. With OracleBI Discoverer, I can do this too except I can't export the PDF because it doesn't fit on the page correctly.
Anyone else need this functionality?
On another "enhancement request" note, I would like to be able to schedule exports. OracleBI Discoverer is getting close to providing an alternative to Oracle Reports which is great because it is faster to build and deploy reports and it is licensed by the CPU so I don't have to worry about buying Report Builder licenses. Lastly, business users can build their own reports rather than someone in IT doing it.

ok, here's what I have found out (thanks to our Viewer guru, Matthew):
The print/PDF preferences are currently not saved, so you are right when you say you have to re-apply those settings.
However, there is a way to persist these changes within a session (note that since these changes are session-resident only, you will lose them once you exit Viewer).
The short one line explanation of the workaround is to make the changes using the 'Printable Page' link, generate a 'Preview' or the entire PDF report, and then use the worksheet breadcrumb link to return to the worksheet. This ensures that the PDF changes you made are available during the sesion to the worksheet. You can always undo these settings by clicking the 'Revert to saved' link.

It shouldn't print each page as a separate job and
each tab has a different name, so, even if it did, it
ought to give the printouts the name of the tabs.
It doesn't print each page as a separate job unless the orientation is different - that's the bug. And the name of the job is taken from the name of the window, not the name of the tabs. That's how every application works, which, I think, is why Excel allows the specific selection or the active sheets to be printed.
Still, that does sound like a plausible explanation.
However, even if presented with multiple prints with
the same name, the spooler should print each one!
The spooler does print each one - you can watch the spooler process the multiple jobs. I think, though, that they are being overwritten since all the jobs have the name of the window as the job title. And since this happens after the Save Dialog is presented, there's really nothing the application can do. To Excel, it's one job, the multiple orientations don't matter; it's just that Apple doesn't handle it correctly.
As a workaround, you can print the selections one at a time and give them unique names and then rejoin them in one PDF file.

Adobe Acrobat X - Saved Background Settings does not retain Source File

Hello,
I am using Adobe Acrobat X on windows 7.
I have a pdf file that I use as a background source file. When I select the Settings profile from the Saved Settings drop down it does not load in the Source File. It still has "From Color" selected and <No Source File Selected> is in the path location.
No matter how many times I add the file and click the save settings button it will not retain it
I've already tried both a 'repair' and 'reinstall' of the software.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Folder view settings not retained in Leopard

Anyone else seen this problem ?
I like to have different folders with different view settings - some icon, some list, and now some coverflow. But, it doesn't retain these settings, it just reverts to whatever view I was looking at last, and applies that to all folders.
This is intensely annoying !
Tiger didn't used to do that.
Is there a solution ?

I've done that. I have all my folders set to open in Icon view except my Music folder, which is set for List view, but I still have the problem with the settings not sticking.
I'm not sure if this is related, but when I got back a folder, the Finder doesn't always remember where I was, ie., I'll be at the bottom of my Applications folder, go to the Utilities folder and then go back to Applications at the top.)
