LifeDrive - Tons of Problems

I've had my LifeDrive for a few years and taken good care of it (I never dropped it or left in the fridge/sun). Recently it started goofing on me, the screen will turn off after a couple seconds as normal but then flash back on, and continually do this. The other thing is that it will also freeze the screen when playing music and such. When it plays music it also pauses for a few seconds and then resumes, however the orange light does not appear on, it flashes green as normal. It also won't turn on when I tap the screen (I have to flick the thing on top or press a button), which normally wouldn't bother me, but it seems like another wierd thing to be happening. If I play the game that came with it (Solitare) the screen will also glitch and freeze until I tap it.
Aside from that, I'll plug in the USB to transfer files from PC to Palm, but the connection goes through uncommonly. I checked the USB chord, both ends, and the Palm's input jack and they both appear normal.
I'm thinking I should just get it fixed, but that could escalate to $150, which I might as well not take the gamble and get an iPod!

You may want to consider modding your device to become a "LifeFlash".
Usedpdaparts will change out the Hard Drive and install a Compact Flash socket and card as a replacement. Much more rugged than the drive.

IPhone 4 problems? I'm having a ton of problems with my IPhone. Help?

I'm having a ton of problems with my iPhone 4 running iOS 6.1.3. Yesterday, I accidentally added a keyboard shortcut that was extremely long and it screwed up my iPhone. For one, the keyboard section of settings would take forever to open, and when it did open and I tried to delete the shortcut, my phone would restart and when I got back, the shortcut was still there. So I reset my phone. 7 times. And it still didn't work. I finally ended up using find my iPhone to erase it and then it worked. The shortcuts were gone and my phone stopped randomly restarting every 5 minutes. But when I got home, I plugged it into iTunes to get all my music an photos back on. I set it up as a new phone. After it was done syncing, I changed the name to the name of what it was before I reset it for the first time. Then, all of the sudden, it started crashing again. Sure enough, the shortcuts were there again. How do I get my music and photos back on my phone without the keyboard shortcuts being added back on? BTW, my songs are all off of CDs so I can't just re download them from the iTunes Store.

It sounds like you restored it with your backup because the shorcuts were back on there. Restore again, as new without your backup. They sync your media back on.

I have a 4g ipod touch with tons of problems. So i was wondering if i could get it replaced at my local Apple store. But its out of warranty. How much will it cost?

The home button no longer responds and when it does it takes at least 10 minutes of repeatedly clicking it.
When my ipod turns off it takes hours to a day for it to turn back on.
Should i replace it, and if so, how much will that cost?
Is it repairable?

HP Web Jetadmin, PC-CONNECTED printer and Toner level problem

HP Web Jetadmin 10.3.93994 (10.3 SR7) running on Windows Server 2012 (Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0),
HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP is connected via USB to the computer with Windows 7 SR1 64.
The latest drivers installed, SNMP, HP SNMP Proxy_64_10_3_0010 and HPWSProxyService_10_3_1 installed.
HP ToolboxFX shows the toner level, the approximate number of pages remaining, cartridge serial number, etc.
HP SNMP Proxy is not working.
HP WS Proxy runs, HP Web Jetadmin displays all but the state of supplies - writes "not available".
File HPWSProxyServiceLog.log errors and warnings does not contain, at the level "All" has many lines of "Calling UIO for ..." with the result of "Status code is 200".
When printer as networked - this is no problem - Jetadmin shows everything including toner's level.
Does HPWSProxyService_10_3_1 support status of supplies (toner level) for printer HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP?

Tri-Tone Vibrate problems

When my phone is set to the Tri-Tone text message ring tone vibrate does not work when i receive text messages, however when i change it to any other text ringtone the phone vibrates. anyone else having this problem? Its not that big of a deal, but unfortunately all the other text ringtones are quite annoying.

I'm having the same problem, although I DO have tri-tone alert for my message sound, but it keeps going off even when I get no texts and this just started early this morning around 3am or so. I don't know how to fix it either but it can't be glitching cus it's old because I got this phone a month ago.

Tons of problems with Snow Leopard

Made this post over at my blog but I figure this would be a better forum for it in hopes we can get some of these issues resolved... it seems like Apple has pulled a Microsoft and released what appears to be a beta version of Snow Leopard! Inexcusable bugs are appearing left and right, and the supposed "improvements" have actually hindered my computer performance and productivity...
This really surprised me. After years of releasing amazing OS upgrades that seemed to make the best OS even better, it seems like Apple has taken 2 steps back with Snow Leopard. I can't tell you how upset I was to realize I was experiencing many problems that I previously only saw on PCs.
After one of the many bugs popped up again on my computer, I got frustrated and started combing the internets for a list of known bugs in the OS and the inevitable slew of Apple users registering their disgust. Unfortunately, my search didn't turn up anything but positive reviews of the OS and very limited complaints on a few message boards. To this end, I'm posting this entry to try and help other users who are experiencing similar issues and hopefully get Apple to clean up this mess of an OS.
Below I've created (and will be adding to) a list of problems I've experienced in OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard. I encourage everyone to list your Snow Leopard issues in the comments as well, in hopes we can create a master list of problems.
I am using a 2 GHz Black MacBook (Core 2 Duo) with 2GB of RAM. Keep in mind Leopard (OS 10.5) was running flawlessly on this more than capable machine. I am currently running the latest Snow Leopard build, 10.6.1. I upgraded 10.5 with the retail version of Snow Leopard, integrating my current apps into 10.6 (did not do a clean install). I've organized my issues below by application. This post is less about third-party applications and more about Apple apps/built-in OS features, as Apple is fully accountable for these pieces.
APPLE APPS
Airport:
• Airport is now incredibly slow getting past the "searching" status message and into what was known as "scanning" status in 10.5 (now called "Looking For Networks…" status message). This issue occurs most often when I revive the computer from sleep. I have to turn Airport off and on again, then wait an inordinate amount of time to get past the useless "Searching…" message.
Volume and Sound:
• I rely on my volume control icon on the toolbar. I change my system volume dozens of times every day (due to my job)... previously, I could click the volume icon then simply roll the scroll wheel on my two-button mouse to adjust the volume. Now, I have to actually move my mouse down onto the volume slider area before my scroll wheel works! What gives? In allowing the user to fine-tune the volume levels, Apple removed this functionality for some reason? This is a real pain for me as the extra second it takes to do this really adds up by the end of the day.
• Sound now starts stuttering for no reason? When I wake my computer up from sleep and I have headphones or speaker plugged in, the audio stutters greatly. I have to unplug then re-plug my speakers or headphones to fix the issue! This is a problem I saw on many PCs due to sound cards not playing with Windows nicely, but was NEVER an issue I experienced using OS X.
• The Mac OS startup chime plays on my MacBook external speaker when I startup, even though I have speakers or headphones plugged in! It also does not matter if I had my system volume on mute when restarting • the OS seems to now decide what volume my system should be at when I start up!
Safari:
• Defaults to 64-bit mode silently, and this breaks most plug-ins (my issue was with download manager iGetter, specifically). I had to manually Get Info on the app, then switch back to 32-bit mode, which it seems Apple has not designed Snow Leopard to support properly?
• Freezes and crashes more often, most often when running Flash video. This occurs when I open multiple videos on YouTube, for example.
• Hogging memory even more than it used to (1GB of RAM to run the app?? Really?)
Stacks:
• Apple seems to have completely removed the functionality or sortable sub-folder listings? For example, if I choose to sort my stack by "Date Modified", the initial list of folders in the stack appear by date, but all my sub-folders appear in Alpha order, and there is no way to change this! Come on Apple, why remove this?
iPhoto:
• Freezes completely when I go to "Export…". My Export opens on the Facebook tab of the dialogue box, and it seems the issue occurs when iPhoto can't find the source image. Rather than an error message though, I get the color wheel of death.
Spotlight/Search:
• When I search from a Finder window, sometimes I get the new feature of sortable results columns to work, but sometimes I don't. Seems arbitrary when it works and when it doesn't.
System Preferences:
• More of an annoyance, System Preferences now has to restart the first time I click on any third-party preference in "Other". Some work, most don't.
Install:
• In previous OS X upgrades, Apple gave me the option to "Backup and Install". This option was not present on Snow Leopard, so not sure what a user can d if they do not have a Time Machine backup and their install fails.
Preview:
• Preview slows down considerably when opening multiple files.
THIRD-PARTY APPS
Entourage:
• Entourage froze up when I tried to simply delete one of my email accounts. The Accounts window went blank and the application froze.
CS3:
• Slower than ever, Photoshop is running at a snail's pace.
I hope everyone can contribute to this string and get Apple to fix these problems.

I can address some of these:

All applications, to the best of my knowledge, will run in 64-bit if they include 64-bit code. With most you'll never notice, but if an application supports plugins, then you have to pay attention to whether the plug-in is available in a 64-bit version. More and more are becoming available, but not all. If you have plug-ins that aren't, you need to set the app - Safari or whatever - to 32-bit mode. This is not a bug; it's necessitated by the conversion to full-time 64-bit support. The developer of iGetter claims that an update for compatibility with Safari in 64-bit mode is under development but no time frame has been given.
Snow Leopard is perfectly capable of running 32-bit apps. You just can't mix them, running a 32-bit plugin in a 64-bit app.
Freezes and crashes more often, most often when running Flash video. This occurs when I open multiple videos on YouTube, for example.
Have you installed the latest version of Flash? Flash is almost always a bit problematical, but I've had no problems running Flash content on any site with SL.

This may just be an issue of not being clear on how Mac OS X allocates memory. This article may provide some insight:

This is normal if a preference pane has not been provided in a 64-bit version.

Actually it was called "archive and install" and was removed as an option as no longer necessary. The normal installation creates all necessary new files and more robustly replaces old ones, so having an archive of the old system folder was deemed to no longer be needed.

To restore completely from a full Time Machine backup, you erase the disk using Disk Utility from the menu in the Installer, then choose to restore from a TM backup.
Preview slows down considerably when opening multiple files.
Seems to work OK for me. I've had as many as twenty open with no noticeable slowdown. But you may be opening much larger documents than I have.

Impossible to offer any advice here without knowing what version of Entourage you're using, whether it's been fully updated, and what type of email account this was.

Why in the world is the most current version of firefox AND flash having TONS of problems playing hulu videos? either chewing the crap out of my processor but playing ok, or chewing the crap out of my processor and not even playing video at all?

used to be firefox and hulu got along just fine, never had my computer get retarded slow or any of the other things its currently doing while there's a tab open with hulu... but here lately its been eating the snot outta my processor (between firefox.exe and plugin container the two are consistently using 100% of my processor... most of it being firefox.exe itself)
and tonight i cant watch hulu at all. the video shows a frame then its another 10-15 seconds before another single frame is showed.
my firefox is the most current version.
my adobe flash player plugin is the most current version.
there's no reason this should be happening but it is happening and its friggin annoying

this happens anytime i'm in the part of hulu that has the player for showing whatever episode i'm attempting to watch. when i attempt to watch hulu i have no other tabs open and no other excess programs running on my computer, and firefox+plugincontainer run my CPU to 100% just between those two processes. i can browse around the internet just fine (like checking my email, or even getting to my queue list on hulu, which i have my homepage set as.. the queue list loads fine but the player part of hulu is when things go to crap)
and i just tried the exact same episode of lie to me that i couldnt watch on firefox.... tried watching it on internet explorer and its playing perfextly fine EVEN WHILE FIREFOX IS OPEN.
firefox is my preferred browser and i hope this junk can be fixed somehow.

You need to remember that AdobeFlash is proprietary software licensed by a commercial Company. Some of that software may be free to use.
Flash should work well with Google Chrome as it is tightly integrated with that browser.

Okay I will try. First I have lost pictures in catalogs and could not find again.I have tried reinstalling LR4 and when I do and reopen LR4 the same catalog appears in the panel and filmstrip and I have no idea how to get rid of that catalog and start over at square one like it was the frist time it was opened. That would be a big help and I think I start over and avoid the same problems.

TONS of problems using iTunes!!!!

Ok, I got iTunes last night and downloaded a cd and burned it no problem. Today without ANY changes made to my computer I have spent since 8am (now 6pm)trying to download a cd. NOT HOW I WANTED TO SPEND MY DAY OFF!!!! I got first errors -50 then -3259 and -208. I followed some of the guidlines like clearing my windows cache or whatever, uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, turned off my firewall, disabled my security system everything!!!! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO CRAZY OVER THIS?????

Forgot to mention that I use k-lite codec pack. Tried other kinds too, but I settle for this one.

I just uploaded my site using iweb. But it comes out with tons of errors in the internet. The text has moved, the videos don't play ( the quick time logo appears instead ) and no audio ( all of my mp3's only display a tiny quick time logo) . And the entire experience is very slow.
What are the possible solutions or what steps I forgot to take ?

PLEASE HELP! TONS of problems with MBP

Just recently my computer has been getting very poor battery life and is getting VERY hot. I have istat pro and it says that the battery's health is in the 70s and it keeps going down. Overall the computer is running slowly and very hot (about 160-170 degrees F). I'm not sure what I should do, but I definitely think i deserve a new battery -- the battery life is literally less than an hour and a half. Just a week ago it was 3 hours! This isn't the first time my computer has experienced problems, it doesn't go to sleep when i close the lid half the time either. I bring it to classes every day and usually it lasts the whole time (over 3 hours). Now it's really screwing up.
Again:
-My computer is running extremely hot (60 degrees F ABOVE normal)
-It's battery health is in the 70s and the life is an hour and a half (even less)
-It doesn't sleep when closing the lid
-It's running slower and slower every day.
What do I tell apple? What can I expect them to do?

do what i said in your other post if your battery is over a year old have the apple store try a new battery in the macbook but be careful if you do not have the membership the guiness bar will charge you so ask before they look at it if they will charge you buy the battery you can always return it. but its difinitely the battery like i said in the other post i had the same problem 1st got it would run for 3-4 hrs then about 1-1 1/2 then nothing unplug the powercord nothing .the 1st sign was when i had it on my lap it burn so bad i had to unplug it and shut it down..so far i had this new battery for 1 month lets hope it keeps up again good luck!

30g with tons of problems...

I got my 5G 30g iPod video on Friday and put about 300 songs on it and everything was fine but then I updated my iTunes program online and then my iPod wouldn't show up in the iTunes menu. It said I needed to restore my iPod to factory settings. But when I tried to go to the iPod Updater program it wasn't there. So I reinstalled the older version of iTunes that came w/ my iPod and it still didn't work. So I went on the iPod and reset everything thinking it would help, but it didn't, it just took the songs I had put on there off... So I went online and tried everything the Apple support site said and it still wasn't showing up in iTunes. Then today I got back on and found the iPod Updater and tried to restore my iPod. But it said that it had a disk write error and a formatting failure, and when I tried again it said it had a firmware update failure. And now my iPod won't turn on and it has a little folder icon w/ an exclamation point and the URL www.apple.com/support/ipod. So I went there and I've tried everything, except I still can't restore it with the updater...
Sorry if this is a common problem(although I don't think it is...)
Please help. This is the most money I've ever spent on one thing, and its really dissappointing that its not working...

I had the same exact problems and i sent mine in to the apple store and they sent it back to me and said that everything was fine but like you said i couldn't get into anything and that little folder shows up but when i got it back it was working fine and i went to load it up on my coputer and it did the same thing after i got it back from the store and all i did was restore it and somehow i got it to work but im still having problems loading up my music to it. It just seems like everytime i plug my ipod in everything just slows down and i don't know what the deal is but i hope this helped you.

Tons of problems iTunes + W7 x64! HELP!

(Yes I am a victim of the infamous SATA port problem :[ but NewEgg is sending me a new one.)
I'm currently a lot of problems with iTunes x64. One is that iTunes turns of Aero every time I boot it up (if my PC can handle Crysis at max settings I doubt iTunes would break my video card), but that's not the pressing issue that is easily fixed with quickly running the Aero troubleshooter.
The more pressing issue here is that iTunes has started to refuse to play my songs. This is a very recent and very annoying problem. What happens is I'll be listening to my music and around 10 minutes in give or take a few minutes the song just stops. I try to hit pause or play and it refuses to play, when I change the song or anything it also refuses to play those songs. It's not until I restart iTunes, fix Aero again, that a new song will play and then in another 10 minutes the same thing happens. Please tell me that other people are having this problem and that there is some sort of solution. Any ideas are much appreciated.

When it says to make a playlist, it means your library is bigger than the free space on your ipod. Make a playlist of all the songs you want on your ipod. You wont be able to fit all of them, just fit as many as you can.
Also, the volume is the sound. at the top next to the play button, slide the knob over to the right a little.

New MacBook Air 13-inch - A **** ton of problems after new IOS

K, I just got a MacBook air, not even two weeks ago. First off, I`m a really apple fan, I`ve always liked, specially because of the well constructed integration between hardware and software, but seriously, the previous week has been a COMPLETE nightmare with this computer..t
Just to make it short the number of problemas that are completely driving me crazy and making me consider just giving up this computer
1) ******* google hangouts and skype not recognizing the built in camera on the MBA..
2) NUmber 1 leads to number two which is FaceTime is a pathetic program.. Two main reasons for that are a) quitting unexpectly for no reason, b) sound works fine for 2 minutes and than the sound glitches starts (possible to see at utilities > console)
3) The flash conflict with Google Chrome that makes the freaking sound to keep popping every 3 seconds...
If everyone has any solution for those problems, PLEASE, help me..
I`m really trying not to hate apple..

With flash I had to install is seperate from my browser (Firefox) to make it work properly. Normally you can just download it from your browser with no problems, but on this machine (I got it as a replacement on Sunday) I had to download and install is seperate to make it work properly.
I would try uninstalling both and reinstalling them again just to see if that makes a difference as well.

I had a Ton of problems but now all fixed

I was having so many problems from memory to video. Switching memory and videocards and couldnt fix it. But i just got my X800 installed and everything is running perfect and i can run my memory at low timings now. 2-3-5-2 1t 210fsb.
Havnt had a crash or any problems so far. I been playing Battlefield Vietnam , Call of Duty, and Lock On Modern Aircombat without any problems. Games look so good at 1600x 1200 with 6x and 16 AA on.
I will keep updating my process, its only been 3 hours of use so far from posting this.

i could pass that with my old Videocard. Call of duty played fine for me. Sounds like install was corrupt or something.
