LifeProof Case for iPhone 6 Issues

Hello Hello,
How is it going fellow Apple heads?
My wife bought an iPhone 6 around Jan this year. As I know she is accident prone, especially with liquid damage, I opted for the LifeProof Fre case.
Had this on her iPhone 5 and she destroyed it but at least it did not get liquid damaged while the seals were intact.
Were has had a few accidents with this new phone already. My nearest wall already has wear marks where I keep banging my head against it. She hands me the phone this afternoon and said the screen's not working after another accident. I take the case off and found liquid did get inside. Quickly dried the phone and it seems ok, did not get in the phone as far as I can tell.
When i washed the case off I found the thin membrane that is glued on the side of the case to allow Touch ID functionality has come unglued and that is my bet how the liquid got to the phone.
Phew, long story, huh? I guess I am asking if anyone out there has come across the issue as well. Like to hear from you.
Fare well Apple lovers,
J

The thin membrane over the fingerprint scanner is the biggest drawback for me on the Lifeproof cases. It can come off easily. Lifeproof does offer a 1 year replacement warranty on their cases though. I actually just filled out the forms last week for an unrelated issue and they are sending me a brand new Fre case for my iPhone 6 at absolutely no charge. I would recommend doing that. You can find the form on their website.

When will new shipments of the TEAL and GREEN lifeproofs cases be available to purchase online?

Julian, the phones are of the same size, but when you choose a case for the phones, there are a few things to be aware of. A slight difference will determine if a case will suit the phone. I wrote a blog about it. Check it out:

  • Protective cases for iPhones

Two protective cases for iPhones are 1) Lifeproof and 2) Otterbox Defender series. Does anyone have acquaintance with both these cases? If so, is one better than the other? Or is there some other case that is better than either of those? Thank you for the assessment and suggestions.

The iPhone 5 Otterbox Defender case is very nice and is a big improvement over their 4/4S case. The new one is much slimmer and better feeling in the hand, though it's still a BIG CASE.
The Lifeproof case isn't quite as physically rugged as the Otterbox, but it is water resistant where the Otterbox isn't.  The Lifeproof case can be used in the shower or even swimming if you keep it above six feet of water. There are some reports that individual Lifeproof cases can muffle sound quality fairly badly (while others don't), but the Otterbox doesn't have those issues as it leaves the speaker ports relatively unobstructed. The Lifeproof case is also much slimmer than the Otterbox while providing a large degree of protection.
Griffin's Survivor series cases are generally as rugged as either of the above, but I don't recall it being waterproof.
There are a number of other cases with a high impact resistance rating out there, but I'd probably stick with one of those three mentioned above, myself.

  • Hi,  I would like to ask you a question. a month ago I bought a battery case for iPhone 5 and it worked properly until I installed iOS 7. From that day iphone is operating normally, but when the battery is empty, unfortunately I can not charge additionall

    Hi,
I would like to ask you a question.
a month ago I bought a battery case for iPhone 5 and it worked properly until I installed iOS 7. From that day my iphone is operating normally, BUT when the battery is empty, unfortunately I can not charge additionally my iphone with the "extra battery case".
Does that mean that you did not even create a new software that supports additional battery case or it is something else?
    I need your help!!,
    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,
    VK

The Mophie Air is a good battery case, but doesn't offer the protection she's looking for. I suggest sticking to the Lifeproof, the iPhone has a very good battery (2-3 days moderate usage for me).
To your 2nd to last paragraph, that is false. Verizon is allowing exisiting customers to keep Unlimited Data - but will lose it once they use a subsidized upgrade. So if you buy a 4S (or LTE device for example) outright, you will keep unlimited data. Mobile hotspot may use up a bit of data, but it is a separate add-on/feature. The new Family Share plans may change that, so it's one giant center of data all devices use.

This one's not leather but I've had it before and it's nice.  It has microfiber of sorts on the inside so it doesn't scratch the screen.

This one does have some leather but I can't vouch for it since I haven't purchased it-yet.

This one is not leather at all, it's a polyurethane but I swear by it because A. it's cheap and B. it's got a wonderful magnetic closure to keep the flap closed

Is the Uncommon Satin Waves Deflector Case for iPhone 4 coming soon to Australia?

Were you going to tell us what kind of case it was, or do you want us to just guess?

I've bought leather case for iPhone 4 with a magnet clip situated on the back side just above the "apple" label. Can it interfere with any signals or made other damage?

I have been using a leather case with a magnetic clasp for months.  The only side effect is that I need to recalibrate the compass app when I use it.  This is really not a problem since I don't use the compass app very often.  I haven't encountered any other interference or problems.

  • Otter Box Armor Case for iPhone 5

I know this is Apple Forums, but if anybody needs a  pouch with belt clip for Otterbox Armor Case for iPhone 5, consider a pouch with belt clip designed for Galaxy S3. I got this "third party" like Amazon, it is REIKO brand pouch with belt clip. My iPhone 5 with Armor case fits snug in this pouch, if somebody found something better, good for you!

Since it is not listed as an available case for the 5s, I would think not.:

  • Does Tech21 Impact Band Case for iPhone 5 work together with a screen film?

Does Tech21 Impact Band Case for iPhone 5 work together with a screen film? If it does what kind of screen film?

A standard screen protector seems to large, when mounting the Band Case the edges on the screen protector get loose.

  • Does the Lifeproof Fre case for iPhone 5s fit the iPhone 5?

Because the Lifeproof Fre case for the 5s has the headphone jack plug that is tethered to the case (rather than just the screw), I am wondering if the case for the 5s will fit the 5? Do all of the holes line up (even though the LED flash is different), and will the home button work the same way?

You may be more likely to get an answer by contacting that company directly: http://www.lifeproof.com/en/support/knowledge-base/full-contact/

  • Lifeproof case with iPhone 4s - headphone controls?

Just reached out the long dollar for a lifeproof case.  So far I like it, with a few reservations.  Biggest issue is that with Apple earbuds plugged into Lifeproof's adapter, the controls on the buds don't seem to work.  Anyone else have this issue?

I've noticed the same. Work around - Plug the Apple headphones into the device first and unplug then connect the Lifeproof adaptor, plug the headphones in. The controls should work.

  • Best case for iPhone

I'm looking for a good case for the iPhone. Something that protects as well as the otterbox. I don't want the otterbox because the silicone rips and becomes loose fairly easy. Anyone know any good cases

Have you thought about the LifeProof cases? I think they look pretty cool. Personally, I like a sleek case that doesn't make the iPhone much larger.
