Ligatures in PDFs through ePrint

When printing pdf files through ePrint, ligatures (such as the fi combo) print as squares.
Can anything be done about this?

Have a back door way to fix the problem...
We were having the same issue with DeskI documents while upgrading from XIR2 to XIR3.
It's tied to documents that are set to Refresh on open
If you import the report, set it to "not" refresh then publish it, test it and it should run fine. Once you get it working correctly you can republish the report again and turn the "Refresh on Open" back on.
It should work fine from that point on.

Can't open pdfs through ie8/9 crashes upon opening

adobe reader plugin crashes when trying open pdfs through internet explorer 8 or 9 i have windows vista 32 bit home premium i need to get assignments for class but can't with the plugin crashing all the time when opening the file to view it adobe plugin works fine on my laptop but not on my desktop can anyone help me fix this

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

Please check in access policy matched, in 'Objects' column, if you have any limit set or type of files blocked.
You can also perform a test - create a Custom URL Category and add the
website where you are downloading PDF in it, then in access policy -> URL Filtering, configure this Custom URL Category to 'Allow'.

When I take a PDF through In Design CS 5.5 the text becomes screwed

When I take a PDF through Adobe In Design CS 5.5 and then try and copy and paste the text, all I get are little funky characters.
Why?

Please check to be sure your links are waht you think they are. That first one is to a PDF made with Ghostscript. It also is the only one I can copy text from and paste into ID. It's PDF 1.3, the one exported from ID is PDF 1.4, and, and the one from Distiller is PDF1.5, which may have something to do with it.
The distilled file has dozens of Identity-H encoded fonts that look like they might be a custom font, the exported file has only 5, and the ghostsctript file has waht looks like the same five, but they are "custo" encoded. What fonts are you using ?

Error while opening report in pdf through OAF.

This is my first report through OAF and I followed a couple threads discussed on this but I am unable to debug this problem
Requirement - User clicks the image and is prompted to open/save pdf result file.It doesnt take any user parameters
Error is : I get prompted to open/save the pdf file . I click on Open or Save it and then Open, it gives me the following error :
'could not open because it either is not a supported file or because the file has been damaged(for example , it was sent as an email attachement and wasnt correctly decoded)'
Steps taken so far :
1. Created VO with query select a,b,c from Table A
2. Created a simple xml page, with a torch image : Set Action Type and Event property of the Torch Image Item to FireAction and GenerateReport
3. Wrote the code in CO and AM to get the data in XMLNode.
4. I did SOPs , copypasted the xml in notepad saved it as xml, loaded in MSWord and created a template.Viewing pdf generates a pdf here on this data
5. With "XML Publisher Administrator" Responsibility, I created Data Definition and Template Definition.
6. I deployed all the files on server and ran the report. It prompts me to open the pdf but it seems corrupted. In Jserv.log, xml gets printed through SOPs.
One thing I noticed is: <?xml version="1.0"?> is missing from xml.
please assist me , what am I missing here ?

Hi,
Basically the reason for this is that your "PDF file" is not populated with the correct pdf structure that Adobe recognizes (i.e. save the file and look at it in notepad, you'll see it's probably in html or a java stack trace). 2 reason's this happens
1.You do not have the necessary library files attached to your project i.e. for XMLPublisher you will need $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd/* and $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/xdo/*. Zip these up and add them to your libraries section of your project.
2. Your XML Publisher properties are not configured correctly. (usually causes a blank file) To change this go to (E-Business Suite>XML Publisher Administrator>Administration>General>Temporary Directory). Depending on what your doing you will need to point this to either a server location or a local location. i.e. when uploading defintion/template and previewing it requires a server-side location to generate a temporary file for the preview, when running a jdeveloper project it will look for a local directory to generate the temporary file. If it cannot find the directory it will throw an error to System.out, and send the HttpServletResponse container a 0bytes file. For local development on a windows box I suggest setting the "Temporary Directory" to something like "C:\oracle" and ensure that folder exists.

Emails from the organization are not going through ePrint

Hi,
I've been having some issues with the ePrint feature that's configured in one of the printers that we have in our office. The printer is a HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276nw. Every other client from other email addresses such as Hotmail, Gmail or any other address are able to send emails to our ePrint address and are able to print on it successfully. However, all the emails that are being sent from within our organization are not going through. We get an unsuccesful delivery message from the Exchange server stating that
The server has tried to deliver this message, without success, and has stopped trying. Please try sending this message again. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk
We had checked with our Exchange administrators and they have advised that the email is trying to be sent, but in the destination it is being rejected. How can I get this issue to be addressed?

Are you getting any messages about the failed messages in your ePrintCenter/HP Connected account? If so what does the message state about the failed job?

How to send an external mail(PDF) through SCOT

Dear All,
                 We have a requirement to mail customer invoice converting the smartform into a PDF. All the neccesary configuration that needs to be done in NACE and SPRO transactions has been done.Now when we issue the output through an output type through transaction VF03, output is successfully issued.In SP02 also it shows the printing is successfully completed.
                 But when i want to want to check the display log aginst the
output type and billing doc issued it says dat the processing log dosnt exist.We have configured the SCOT transaction for sending external email but it doesnt send the mail and even doesnt show any request in waiting and as well as no errors so we are not being able to identify whether the configuration done is wrng which doesnt seem to be the case or is dere a problem with SCOT configuration.
                 Could any1 pls help me with the entire flow of configuring SCOT if possible with screenshots for sending external email . or if possible wat is the possible problem we are facing...

2. Maintain the Mail IDs for all vendors in Vendor Master(check the ADR6 table)
3. Do the settings for sendiing mails in SCOT and SOST tcodes with the help of Basis person
4.In NAce also use medium 7 instead of 1 (print)
5. In the application doc Po Me22 N also configure the output type with the medium 7 for the partner(vendor) and other sommunication method settings.
6. CHeck the print program, I think it will consider the Medium and set the communication type automatically. check it by keeping a break point if it is not working.

Exporting a crystal report to PDF through web server makes fonts smaller

Hi, I've investigated this issue and found information on the registry keys, and this has fixed crystal designer - so I can load a report, export to PDF and it looks normal. However, when compiling reports through our web-app, the fonts are still small. I've placed keys in both the Business Objects and Crystal Decisions folders on both HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, but it doesn't seem to affect the re-distributable at all. Anyone know how I can overcome this?
