Lighroom 5 not passing image to Photoshop 5.1

When choosing "Edit in... Photoshop CS5.1" the modified Lightroom image does not get passed to Photoshop.  Instead, the original image appears in Photoshop, even though Lightroom has created a stacked copy.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS5.1, to no avail.  I have a secondary editor configured as as "Edit in..." option, and Lightroom passes the modified image to that program just fine.  It just has problems passing the image to Photoshop CS5.1.  Is there a setting in the Registry that needs to be tweaked?
Michael

When you use LR5 edit in function you should get a warning dialog that the ACR version in PS CS 5 is not up to date.
If you are not getting this warning, in LR 5 go to edit> preferences> General tab> Prompts > click on "Reset all warning dialogs".
When you next go to the edit in function the warning dialog will pop-up, select render using Lightroom.

  • Open button does not open image in photoshop?

    Am I doing something wrong?
If I edit a CR2 file in Camera Raw 5.1, and the select the open button it does not open the image in Photoshop CS4. Is it not suppose too?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks in advance
    CoolPix

I saved the old version, just in case I had problems. So I removed the original version, and replaced it with v5.1
I did not try to open the file with Photoshop.
    1. Opened bridge and viewed photos
    2. Right click in bridge, and selected open with ACR
    3. When Camera Raw opened, I edited photo and selected "open"
    4. Photoshop opens, but with NO edited photo.
Now I have made a association in the download folder to open with Photoshop, which opens ACR first, then after editing it now works when I select open it opens in Photoshop.
If you read my last post, my quetion is "why does it not open from my method I used originally in Bridge?
I hope this is clear enough.

  • Exported image not like image in Photoshop

    Hello,
I need some help. I processed one of my cat photos in Photoshop and when I was happy with the results I expored the photo. This is how it looks like in Photoshop:
And this is how it looks like after the export:
Can someone explain to me why the exported image is not like the image in Photoshop?
    Thank you for your help!
    Jonahan

    Hmmm,sorry to hear that.
I assume you do the roundtrip through apps [Lr>Ctrl+E > Ps > Ctrl+S > Lr]
Did you use RAW or Jpg files?
can you check Proof>view setup,or gamut warning if you accidentally check any of these?
Check in the Develop mode in Lr >camera calibration>Adobe standard [although i don`t think is that..]
If you work in both programs with the same color space check your monitor and/or your card
[Maybe your card LUT have a problem, did you calibrate your monitor?]

  • Request: Support DNG as Option to Pass Images to Photoshop

I see you've added the option to Export to disk in DNG format. Love it. But I'd also like to see the option of passing an image with Develop module adjustments to Photoshop and other external editors in DNG format. At the moment, only JPEG and TIFF are supported, but that means a potential loss of dynamic range. If you support DNG as an option for the "Edit in...Photoshop CS5" for example, that dynamic range can be preserved. This would, of course, cause Photoshop to first launch ACR, which is exactly what's expected. Yes, one could make the same adjustments in the LR Develop module as in ACR, but some people use LR only to organize images or only to make certain adjustments and it would be great to use DNG as in interchange format. You already have that capability for Export, why not use it in this way as well? It would also drastically improve the way Lightroom works with third-party external editors/plugins such as Photomatix Pro.
FYI, I've been researching this issue and publishing it on my blog: http://www.blogarithms.com/index.php/archives/2012/01/10/editinproblem/

We don't want to encourage this hybrid workflow, because it breaks many of the auto-update functionality.  For example, images edited externally (e.g., DNG edited in ACR) don't get automatically reflected in Lr -- Library preview wouldn't auto update.
More problematic is the file handling.  Normally when you do Edit-In-PS, no physical file needs to be generated, because there's already a mechanism whereby Ps can receive output-referred image data.  If you tried this with a DNG and opened that in ACR, and clicked the Done button, where do the settings get saved to?  Auto-updating the Lr catalog and its settings from ACR isn't an option.  The only way to do that would be to write out a physical DNG file, and that would make the Edit-In... feature much slower, and less valuable.
Ultimately, Lr is about streamlining the workflow, and it's unclear to me what is accomplished by moving to a hybrid workflow where the image quality achieved in ACR will be no different than what's achieved in Lr.

  • LR2 does not load images in Photoshop CS3

When I select an image in LR2,than choose "Edit in Photoshop CS3",Photoshop does load, but after that an "Open" dialog box appears, instead of the selected image.Same with "Open as a Smart Object".
    Also in LR2,Develope Modul,Camera Profiles I don't see "ACR 4.5",although I did this update.
    What I tried:reinstall LR2.Did not work.Reinstall PSCS3 with all updates.
    Didn't work either.
My OS system is a Windows XP Professional Edition,SP3.
Please help with a solution for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Dear Paul,
Thank you,but it doesn't really work.
I mean,if you saw Scott Kelby's tutorial about Photoshop Integration at http://www.photoshopuser.com/lightroom2/,he opened a raw file as a smart object from LR2 in Photoshop, without making any copy (tiff) of the image. When I try the same,an "Open As" dialog box pops up in Photoshop, wich means I have to search through the folders to "tell" Photoshop wich image I want to open as a smart object.I tried it with tiff and jpeg, but same thing happenned.
The "workaround" way you suggested creates a copy, plus I have to convert the image into a smart object, instead of having LR2 doing it.
So the "Open as a smart object" and the "Edit in Photoshop CS3" commands in LR2 are just pointless this way.
    Thanks anyway,
    Peter

  • Right click image in Bridge CS3 will not open images in Photoshop

    Hi,
    New to Bridge here.
I have a problem where I can double click an image (jpg, cr2, tiff, it does not matter what type) or right click + open or right click + open with Photoshop but Photoshop will not start.
For jpgs, if I right click + open with Internet Explorer, it will open the jpg in IE.
    Thanks.

Several different things to look at.
Go to edit/preferences/file type associations and see what the default settings are.  THe ones you mentioned should be set to CS3.
You can also right click on a photo and set open with CS3.
If that does not solve it there are also file associations in Windows that can be changed.

  • Lightroom 3 does not export images to Photoshop CS5

After updating to Lightroom 3 and CS5 I can no longer send nef or dng-files to Photoshop from Lightroom (Photoshop works perfectly if I load files from Bridge). When I select an image in Lightroom and try to edit it in CS5, Photoshop starts but does not show any image on the screen. Calling Photoshop from Lightroom seems to work, however the file export is missing. This happens both with the "edit in Photoshop CS5 and "edit in Photoshop" option. I have checked the registry entries for photoshop.exe in the registry - they are correct. I use both programs on Windows 7, 64 bit.
I am almost desperate as I have searched the internet and tried out many things without success.
    Grateful for any helpful response,

I had this problem with some images, and after much playing about, I found it was because I had an '&' in either the filename or the folder name. If I deleted the '&' from the filename or foldername the files opened in CS5.

  • Image not being opened in Photoshop cc 2014 from Lightroom

I am using the latest lightroom and photoshop.  When I go to an image in lightroom and right click, select edit in Photoshop cc 2014, it opens Photoshop straight away but it does not pass the image along... Any suggestions?

I've tried everything I can think of to no avail.  It takes several minutes now to load an image from Lightroom into PS CC 2014.  PS CC 2014 is already open.  I just noticed a pattern.  If I edit a file (TIFF) format that has already been edited in PS and saved back to Lightroom, it loads very quickly.  However, if I am trying to process a RAW file, that is when I notice a significant lag time.furth
SUCCESS!!!  Upon further investigation and seeing issues from other members regarding RAW cache issues I decided to move my RAW cache file path in LR to a different drive.  That seemed to fix the last issue.  I think the drive I had selected is going bad.  So the reinstall fixed my integration issues between LR and PS CC 2014 (thanks to everybody who suggested that) and changing my RAW cache file path seems to have fixed the last of my performance issues.  Now to reinstall my plugins and get back to editing my clients' images!

This link shows that ACR 8.3 supports the Nikon D610 and 6.7.1 was the final version for CS5.

So you can upgrade to CS6 and ACR 8.7.1
or using the DNG converter, convert your Nikon raw files to dng format to open in CS5.
Here is the download link: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
or Windows: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
And here is a great video tutorial on how to use the converter.

When I have finished working on an image in Photoshop and I hit the "save" button, it goes instead to the "save as" screen. This never happened in previous Photoshop versions. When I get to Lightroom, I have a grey screen the says "File could not be found." I then have to go to "locate" to get the image. When I select the correct image, I get a message that it is not the same file name but I am eventually able to access the image. Needless to say this is having a negative impact on workflow!

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • Photoshop CS6 suddenly will not open images or create new ones

I began using illustrator and exported an image in several formats and Photoshop won't open any of them, jpg, png, tiff  Not only that now Photoshop won't open any documents period and will not create a new document either. Any ideas?

I don't know why I am seeing it but not others. FF and Chrome seem susceptible to it. It's not malware as usually thought of because no virus/malware program finds it here.
Unfortunately, I have to forbid this script for every site I visit.
In the other thread where your browser displayed an 'i.trkjmp.com' link which isn't really in the web page, I gave you a Google link for info about the problem. You said that it must be something else. Well, for months now, Chrome and Firefox users have been troubled by extensions which cause the 'i.trkjmp.com' problem. You might want to revisit the link I gave you.

  • Photoshop cc 2014 will not open images from Lightroom

I have just upgraded Photoshop and Lightroom through the creative cloud, and now when i take an image from Lightroom to Photoshop,Photoshop opens but the image does not appear.I have Photoshop cc 2014 as the default editor.I am able to open the image in any of the plug ins i have installed e.g Topaz Labs.

This has been reported quite a lot lately.  SSprengel, have you actually seen an uninstall and reinstall correct the link between Lightroom and Photoshop CC (2014)?  If so, I'll start advising people to do so.  I hadn't run across anyone claiming to have discovered a solution to the problem yet.

I created an image in Photoshop and saved it as the PSD file. Now when I try and open it it says it is not compatible with my version. How could this be when I created it in this version?

That depends on why it won't open.  Most of the time it means the file is corrupted and unlikely to be recovered. If you saved it right after adding or copying a LOT of layers - then it might just be the layer limit and we can attempt to recover it.
