Light bleeding from capacitive buttons.

Hello.
My brand new Lumia 900 has light bleeding onto the screen from the capacitive button's backlight. There is also light coming out on the leftside between the glass and the polycarbonate.
Is this a common problem and can I return this phone as DOA?
Thanks.

I have it on mine and honestly its not that obvious, unless you are really looking for it or during night time..
The lumia's generally have quiet a few bugs, both in hardware and software, which I tend to ignore as overall its beautiful phone.
If it worries you too much get it changed although there is little chance the new one might have it as well

  • Light bleed from corners?

    Hi,
    Just got two 20" cinema displays and both are exhibiting light patches from all for corners when dark backgrounds are selected.
    One is worse than the other but both show it.
    Is this normal or am i just unlucky with these two?

    I just recently got my macbook, and I see some washout on the dock. It looks like this is normal. A friend of mine has the same computer and his looks just as mine does. If you think it is really bad I would take it to an apple store and have them take a look!

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Light bleed on screen - is this acceptable / normal for this screen?

    Hi all,
    I wonder if someone could give me some advice as to whether the light bleed I'm experiencing on my Yoga 2 Pro is 'acceptable'. It doesn't bother me in normal day to day tasks like office work, email, web browsing but it's pretty distracting when watching videos in a dark / dim room, particularly where the video itself contains dark scenes or letterboxing.
    I've done a bit of searching on the web it seems that black light bleed is a pretty common issue with these types of displays.
    The following photos were taken on a DSLR in a totally dark room whilst running a video of complete black on youtube:
    Brightness 100% - overexposed a bit in camera to show main areas of light bleed. The lower right corner is the most severe. Light bleed is also quite prevalent along the bottom of the screen.

    Brightness 70-80% - exposed to represent as closely as possible what i see when watching the black video in a dark room.

    Brightness at 50%

    Would this light bleed warrant a return? I bought this from John Lewis in the UK and they have an excellent returns policy. I do love the laptop but the light bleed is pretty annoying. I've seen some images of other peoples light bleed and I worry that if I was to get this replaced I may end up with one with much worse light bleed than what I currently have.
    Any thoughts and advice would be most appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Ok, I think I have identified the source of the light bleed from the top right corner.  It seems that whatever they use to glue the panel down to the backing has loosened.  If I press down on the top left corner of the screen it is rock solid.  If I press down on the top right side where the light bleed is it flexes downward.  When I push down on the border the light bleed disappears.
    So it would appear I don't have a panel problem, I have a glue problem.  Bummer.  Will contact Lenovo today.  Hopefully getting this fixed won't involve sending my Y2P into some shop for 3 weeks.
    The light bleed sucks but what concerns me more is that the panel's integrity seems to be failing and could get worse.  I hope Lenovo has a local shop that can take a look at this.

  • Is the iPad 2 light bleeding issue fixed yet?

    Did Apple finally fix the issue of light bleeding from under the bezel or are defective iPad 2s
    still being sold?
    Anybody knows?
    Regards

    Hey everyone,
    Just purchased my iPad 2 yesterday from the Apple Store in Birmingham. It was the last one left in the store so you can imagine how happy I was to get one finally! However I have also noticed mine is suffering from this backlight bleeding problem, in quite a few spots around the screen. I also have either a couple of dead pixels or a large piece of dust stuck under the glass in the middle of the screen, which is equally annoying. Will Apple exchange this for me? Should I ring up the nearest Apple store and see what they'll do? I love this device and just wanna get on and use it, but for the money I'm paying I don't think I should put up with defects. What's everyone's advice?

  • Lumia 925 capacitive buttons light on/off scheme

    Hi everyone,
    I have just bought a Lumia 925 and have been using it for 2 weeks. It operates on Lumia Cyan firnware with WP 8.1. The point that I do not understand is the capacitive buttons light on/off scheme. Buttons lights turns on and off arbitrarily. There is no matter you are using it in under bright or dark environment or condition, the lights turn on and off arbitrarily. Why? or is there a operation scheme that I could not realize?! Confused...

    I vaguely remember being annoyed by that when I first got my 1520, coming from a 900.  I don't know if they changed it, or if I got used to it.  I tired just now, but I'm not sure what's supposed to make them turn off. Under what conditions would you need them to be off? I would understand dimming with the screen. Those who said they aren't always on, what do you do to make them go off? I tried battery saver mode and it didn't do it.  Maybe I need to go in a dark closet?
    I wish that was the worst problem I had with my capacitive buttons...

  • What should I do about light bleeding on iPhone 5?

    I've noticed some pretty noticable light bleeding on the top right hand corner of my 32GB iPhone 5. I took it to AT&T and the representative there said they weren't able to do anything, I would have to take it to an Apple store. Problem is, the nearest Apple store is over an hour away from my house and I don't want to make a trip just to have them tell me they can't do anything. Any suggestions?

    Bring the phone back for evaluation.

  • 17" MBP Display - TN or IPS? - Light Bleed?

    I've had a 15-inch Unibody MBP since December and am not thrilled with the display. It apparently uses twisted neumatic (TN) technology, as it has a very narrow viewing angle. And as has been described in other posts, many individual displays have a problem with light bleeding around the perimeter.
    I'd like to know how the new 17-inch MBP compares. I know it has a greater gamut. But does the viewing angle suggest it uses TN, IPS (In-Plane Switching), or some other technology? And have any individual displays exhibited the same kind of light bleeding that has plagued the 15-inch models?

    EWW: Thanks for elaborating. (Your full message isn't displaying, but I received it in the email notification. Don't know what happened to it.)
    Your point is well taken, but after talking to an Apple rep, and then noting the number of posts from people who got multiple replacements with the same problem, it seems an uncomfortable proportion of 15" MBPs recently shipped are in this condition, to some degree. And for myself, far from the nearest Apple service, repair or replacement is lengthy and inconvenient.
    I fully intend to have the problem corrected. But there's no hurry.

  • Light bleeding issue help

    I have had my ipad for almost 4 months now and i had this light bleeding issue since i first purchased but now i find it a problem when i look at pictures and watch videos. I have also got a few dents as last week my daughter dropped the ipad from both sides so the corners on the Ipad  are dented so if i take my ipad to the genius bar for repair i feel nervous that they might think the dents caused the light bleeding so i wanna know if my 8 month warranty will help my ipad become repaired or replaced.

    The warranty does not cover accidental damage.
    That said the only way you will know if your warranty will remain in effect as to the light bleeding even with the dents is to visit the Apple store and find out.

  • My 920 has a strange light glowing from side

    I love my nokia and what it can do. However I have recently found out that on the left hand side of the phone in between one of the ridges in the phone there is a light emitting from there. Can some one tell me what this is caused by or if it is normal and if not how to fix it?

    hi mate, may be a sign of physical damage where something has become detached and is causing light bleed. in this case, i would get it checked out at your nearest Nokia Care location.

  • Do white new iPad's have more light bleed problems?

    I have exchanged 3 white 64GB wifi only new iPad's and will be exchanging for my 4th one today. are there more light bleed problems with white iPad's? I don't know how many times i will have to exchange until I get a good one. can someone show me of a white ipad that has no defects what so ever.

    I just want to mention that if the DSL light isn't on, it is definitely the phone line, however it is not always the provider's fault. Remember they are responsible for the line from the pole to the house, but not the inside wiring. If your phone line is unplugged from the jack, the DSL light will not be on. To be sure that it is SBC's fault, go and test the connection at the d-marc box outside the house.
    Take your laptop, your modem and a phone line and plug it in out there. If you don't get the DSL light, it is definitely their problem. If you do outside, but not in the house, and you call them out, you will get charged for the service call.
    Also the built in ethernet cards, more commonly referred to as airport cards, are not really delicate per se, but the wire for the antennae connection is most definitely. Only if you removed yours which you would have to if you wanted to add RAM, would you have any reason to be concerned about possibly damaging it. SBC telephone tech support is always showing off their lack of knowledge.

  • IPad with Back light Bleeding

    I've had my ipad a week and its irritating the crap out of me that when i watch a movie, I can see the bleed from the back light.
    Is apple replacing these defective devices?
    http://i51.tinypic.com/24699x3.jpg look how annoying that is!!

    I have it but not horribly. I have resigned myself to wait until the mad rush for the iPad2 is over and see how they resolve the issue. Reminds me of the iPhone4 camera problem with white balance. Eventually they solved it. At that point I took mine (iPhone) back (several months later)and they still replaced it without questions. I am suspecting they will do the same with the iPads.

  • FRM-92101 error while running report from a button or menu

    Hi All,
    I am getting the error FRM-92101 while running report without parameter from a button or menu. I am using Developer Suit 10g. I get the error as it shows there has some configuration problem in my form. Will you please help me anyone how can i solve the problem. My previous forms running very well both with parameter and without parameter.
    Arif

    Hello Sir,
    Thanks for your cooperation. I have solved my problem by myself. The fact was that, when i tried with the following code which made my report---
    SELECT br.bid, br.bname, br.branchtxnstatus, dif.difference
    FROM branch br,
    (SELECT gladbrid branchid,
    SUM
    (CASE
    WHEN ga.gl_acc_categry IN ('L', 'I')
    THEN gd.gladbalance
    ELSE -1 * gd.gladbalance
    END
    ) AS difference
    FROM glaccount ga, glaccountdetail gd
    WHERE ga.glid = gd.gladglid
    GROUP BY gladbrid) dif
    WHERE dif.branchid = br.bid AND br.branchtxnstatus = :Br_Status
    and dif.difference!=0
    ORDER BY br.bid;
    and the code against the button or menu item is---
    DECLARE
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    rep_status VARCHAR2(20);
    BEGIN
    repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('ASSET');
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    rep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep);
    WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
    LOOP
    rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
    END LOOP;
    IF rep_status = 'FINISHED' THEN
    /*Display report in the browser*/
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://192.168.0.21:8889/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||
    substr(v_rep,instr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1)||'?'||'server=repserver90','_blank');
    ELSE
    message('Error when running report');
    END IF;
    Clear_message;
    END;
    Clear_message;
    which has shown the error FRM-92101 and didn't run the report.
    In that case I have changed the query to run the report. first of all i create a view following the query and build the report using a simple select query. that's etc. my report running fine now.
    It is mentioned that there had no error on my codes.

  • How to run a dialog's method from a button's event handler?

    I've created my first dialog from the samples, but I am having trouble figuring out how to run a method in my dialog from an button's event handler. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
    function CreateDialog()
        this.windowRef = null;
    CreateDialog.prototype.run = function()
        //...declare a bunch of vars
        // Create a window of type palette.
        var win = new Window("dialog", "Element Spray Generator",[iTop,iLeft,iTop + iWidth,iLeft + iHeight] );  // bounds = [left, top, right, bottom]
        this.windowRef = win;
        // Add a frame for the contents.
        win.btnPanel = win.add("panel", [iPadding,iPadding,iWidth-iPadding,iHeight-iPadding], "");
        .... add a bunch of other stuff ...
        win.btnAdd = win.btnPanel.add("button", [win.btnRemove.bounds.left - iPadding - iButtonWidth,win.lstImages.bounds.bottom + iSmPadding,win.btnRemove.bounds.left - iPadding,win.lstImages.bounds.bottom + iSmPadding +iTextHeight], "Add");
        win.btnAdd.onClick = function() {
           //todo implement this
           var f = File.openDialog("Open File") ;
           win.lstImages.add("item", f.displayName );
           this.EnableControls();    //<--- problem is on this line here!!
        this.EnableControls();  //<--- this works
        // Display the window
        win.show();
        return true;
    CreateDialog.prototype.EnableControls = function (){
        var result = true;
        result = result && (this.windowRef.ddlPaths.selection != "");
        result = result && (this.windowRef.lstImages.items.length > 0);
        this.windowRef.btnOK.enabled = result;

    This may not be the reason, but when using the way I create dialogs 'this' inside of an onClick points to the control.
        win.btnAdd.onClick = function() {
           //todo implement this
           var f = File.openDialog("Open File") ;
           win.lstImages.add("item", f.displayName );
           this.EnableControls();    //<--- I would expect it to call another function of btnAdd
                                            // this.parent.EnableControls() might be what you want if the control is not in some other container
