Light for the keyboard

My sister in law has seen an Air at work and asked me, whether it is a good device for her.
Now, her Air has not an lightend keyboard. Shame in the familiy… Why is this change not to see on the Apple Store pages?
Any suggestions?

Thank you, I know. Two years ago a naive PC-user meant that an light like this from above the keyboard would be the same or likely a backgroundlighend keyboard. It is not. The differences are great.
Since them the LED lights have developed further and better, though - it is just a weak surrogate.

Satellite P300 - is there a backlight for the keyboard?

Hi - does anyone know if the Satellite P300 has a back light for the keyboard? I am assuming it does as the keys are shiny black but cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it on. Any assistance is appreciated.

As far as I know illuminated keyboard will be offered with new notebook series A500 and P500.
I am 100% sure Satellite P300 has not such keyboard.
You can check specifications for different Satellite /Satellite pro P300 models and you will see that nowhere is mentioned such keyboard.

The lighting of the keyboard

In my new mac book pro the lighting of the keyboard doesn't work. It is activated it the pref. pannel but when I click on the F6 orF5 key I get an icon saying I have no access to that. What can I do?

Satellite Pro A300D - What is the model number for the keyboard?

My husband managed to dislodge a keycap on my keyboard, and broke the white scissor clip that holds hit on...(don't ask me how)
He spoke to the authorised service centre here in Norway, and they sent us replacement scissor clips (actually they sent an old non-functioning keyboard) but the clips are of a different design to the ones on my laptop.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the model/serial number of the keyboard used in the Satellite Pro A300D-151 (PSAK9E) so I can get the correct replacement part.
I really don't want to have to replace the whole keyboard when it's just 1 of the scissor clips that is broken...the laptop is only 5 months old.

Sorry buddy but its not possible to exchange some single keys on a keyboard so in this case you must replace the complete keyboard. But normally this should not be so difficult.
Either you exchange the keyboard yourself or you sent the notebook to the authorized service provider.
The model number for the keyboard is not known to me but contact your ASP!! They can order all Toshiba parts and they should know the right part number.

I have a MacBook Pro. My mac can detect wifi. But will not connect. I did get connected vis TCP/IP settings but I can't connect to any wifi anywhere. Network diagnostic has a green light for wi-fi and wi-fi settings. Red light for the rest.

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the computer wont connect to networks. I see you have used network diagnostic. I would recommend that you read this article, there are a lot of other things you can do in this article that may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your Apple Store. If they determine there is an issue with your iPad, it will be replaced.

D.p.middleton the Adobe Application Manager has been available for quite some time. It not only allows Creative Cloud users to install their applications but also downloads and applies applicable updates. In addition it is also responsible for the licensing and managing your agreement to the terms and conditions of the EULA.
2. this could be due to you selecting a trial subscription to the Creative Cloud? If you go to one of the Adobe Creative products and select Help>Updates it will launch the update portion of the Adobe Application Manager which I believe is the portion you are looking for?
#3 I believe this was already mostly covered in the answer to #2.
#4 the Adobe Application Manager also receives periodic updates which affects both perpetual and Creative Cloud subscription users.

Try a couple of things:
Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
Reset the PRAM and SMC
I am assuming you have a wired KB that works.

Problem wirh silicone cover for the keyboard

Hi, I work with my macbook in bars and places with dust, so im very concerned about dust or liquids falling in the keyboard. So one month ago i bought a silicone protection for the keyboard, like this one - http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-66886557-_JM
now, a little more then one month later, i realized that some stains like smoke stains are UNDER the silicone protection.. taking out the protection there was a kind of a burned/smoke smell.. So my question is: this silicone protection can cause overheating or damage something? that little spaces between the keyboard are necessary for ventilation, cooling or something?

Thanks! so, is a fact that the spaces between the keys are necessary for the cooling and is not recomendble to use this silicone skins for keyboard? If yes, is strange, becaus i research a lot before use it and theres no place in internet with advice against those protections...

My I phone is ringing as a phone. However, no sound could be heard when viewing youtube video no sound for the keyboard. Also when the vonage or the magic Jack is ringing it rings once and no more. I don't know how to solve this problem?

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

Please add indicator LED light for the HDD and sleep back, add some system hotkey

After Lenovo have announced the new T440 T540，we were shocked by the graphic card: GT720m (game card) and no indicator LED for HDD. At last we need a NVS graphic card to do some grophic related work or mobile business.
So we waited for the new w540, after coming to public we were shocked again there is :
- no indicator LED for HDD, sleep, wift and bluetooth,
- no hotkey to disable touchpad
- no hotkey to sleep
- no turn on/off screen hotkey
- no hot plug for cdrom or second HDD
these are miserable and somehow funny, maybe no indicator for apple is ok as most new macbooks are all SSD
rather than mechanical hard disk.
maybe no led for sleep for apple is ok as Mac OS goes to sleep very quick and they use SSD. But for thinkpads we close the lid and wait for the moon LED light to take thinkpad freely, also for the sake of hard disk rotation. Now we need to look at the power button which is impossible when the lid is closed.
no hotkey for sleep ? some friends said " Fn+4 acts as a suspend shortcut (I think it was added in BIOS 2.05)" , we hope it is ok.
no notkey to off display? no hotkey to disable touchpad? It is really unconvenient
So is there update for these minus? Hotkey may update by the BIOS and driver. Will lenovo do so? After testing well, it will be back really easy to use.
And is there any Modle B for w540 to add LED back ? Missing indicator LED for HDD is nightmare for troubleshooting. Miss sleep indicator in front of Thinkpad(A-Side) is miserable for bringing sleeping w540.
Miss wifi and bluetooth is also unconvenient..... And it is not a very hard work.
Also it is said there is no driver update for fingerprinter reader from AuthenTec, because AuthenTec is bought by Apple?

Today on shutting down the W540, I get the Windows blue shut down screen with the comment:
"Operations are in progress, pleases wait. The machine will be turned off automatically after the operations are complete."
OK, so I waited 20+ minutes.... Mouse logo spinning, but no idea what i/o's are going on. Fast disk access? Slow disk access, intermittent disk access? Or is it locked? CtrlAltDel has no action. Mouse cursor does move.
So did a cold boot/restart (still not knowing what was happening in the Black Box). Must have locked up restarting, as I waited 10+ minutes with NO IDEA what was going on, a REAL "black box".
Cold booted again, and tried a Safe Mode. Worked!, and did a check disk - said not errors????. All OK now.... but WHERE IS THE HD LIGHT!!!!!!!
Now I just cheked, the Dell, ASUS, TOSHIBA, SONY workstations have them..... We need to review this carefully at the R&D level, AND NOT LISTEN TO MARKETING! T'was, my fault for deciding on the W540, I never checked that specification, and just ASSumed all the indicators lights would be there! Now I'm stuck with a $2,500 toy - never feeling secure in the work being done. I need rwo more workstartion, but it will be a nuissance to be on two types of workstations.
When I run my Stat package, it takes sometime 1+hr of analysis, I have no idea if the program is waiting, paused, or locked.... no HD activity light, no heartbeat no idea if I need to reboot, or wait. Maybe it's an act ot terrorism to waste US worker's time ???? <g>
