Light is green, but no internet connect

I've restarted the computer, airport express, and unplugged the airport basestation. I've also plugged my computer directly into my apartment's ethernet port - which worked fine. The light is green, and this is an existing unit I've used at my old apartment.
I have all software updates to my computer and the airport express station.
There is another wireless network in the area and I can connect to that with no problems.

Do I understand correctly - you have an Airport Extreme Base Station plugged into your apartment's cabled internet access port. You also have an Airport Express, presumably configured to either "join" or "extend" your Airport Extreme Base Station's wireless network?
And your problem - is that you cannot connect to the internet when your Mac has established a wireless connection to your Airport Extreme Base Station?
Start by confirming the connection between the Base Station and the apartment's ethernet port is to the WAN port on the Base Station - that's the one labelled with the "circle of dots" icon.

  • Airport express showing green but no internet connection

I have a new airport express (2013) connected to a motorola canopy point to multipoint wireless broadband system.
The express is in bridge mode and is using 8.8.4.4 and 208.67.222.222 as the DNS servers.
The aiport is showing a green light consistetly. However, the internet connection of devices on the network drops intermittently. Airport utility shows a yellow indicator and "disconnected".
Sometime the connection reappears quickly. Other times a restart in necessary.
It does not happen simulatnaesouly for every device. Some can have a connection while others do not. As I write this, my MB Air has an internet connection but my iPhone does not.
    Fixes I have tried:
Powering down and powering back up begining with the modem and then the base station.
    Changing base station channel
    Turning off wireless printer
Renewing DHCP lease on base station
Renewing DHCP lease on individual units
I see others with this problem but the fixes seem random. I was thinking it is a DNS issue but... the error reads "disconnected" not DNS issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

The issues seems to be DNS related.
When the internetconnection drops, the airport utility indicator switches to yellow, I can still get websites to reslive by using their IP addresses in place of the URL. E.g. http://173.194.70.101 for google.
But I can make neither heads nor tails of why this happens or when...
The one thing I think I am noticing but does not make any sense is that when I use the IP instead of the URL, it forces the connection back on.

  • Airport Express all green, but no internet connection

Hey guys. I'm using an Airport Express thru an ethernet cable at work. I'm attempting to create my own wireless network thru the LAN. I set up my AE in accordance with the Airport Utility instructions & everything is reading green. The AE, Airport Utility, & my wifi bar are all reading good, but I have no internet connection. What am I doing wrong? I reset the AE before I set it up.

Do I need authorization from an admin?
It is common practice for network administrators to require that each device that connects to the network be authorized......to prevent unauthorized access.
Whether your admin requires this, I cannot say.....but it would be one explanation for the lack of an Internet connection.
In a case like this, your computer.......which has been authorized.....might be able to connect to the network using an Ethernet cable....but a device like the AirPort Express....which has not been authorized.....would not be able to connect using the same Ethernet cable.

  • Is there any simple way I can find out whether my router or my mac air is responsible for dropping internet connection constantly?  Often when I do the network diagnostic, the wifi light is green, but isp internet and server are either amber or red.

This is driving me crazy.  The router (it came with the apartment) is a Fritz!Box fon Wlan 7240.  I would be willing to buy an new airport if that would fix it.  But in this country (Germany) you probably can't give things back.

This is not an alternative to Susan Howard's diagnostic questions, only an atempt to collect more data about your situation.
Do you have the instruction manual for your router? I ask because at some point it might be a good idea to reset the router. Turning it off for about 15 seconds then turning it back on helps sometimes. The more basic procedure (this is with my router) is to push the reset. But that would mean you have to re-configure the router with password etc. from scratch.

  • Airport Express signal fine but no internet connection

We have been using an Airport Express for wireless Internet access and recently are unable to connect to the Internet. We use a Comcast cable modem, through a Linksys router, to the Airport Express. We can connect by network cable to the router and access the Internet, but are unable to connect wirelessly. We are getting a signal from the Airport Express (the light is green), but no Internet connectivity. We have restarted and done a hard reset (holding the reset button while plugging the Airport Express in) of the Airport Express, but it did not seem to help. The hard reset did not result in resetting the settings, so perhaps there is another way to reset it or perhaps there is another problem.
    Has anyone had similar problems?

I tried power cycling the cable modem, downloading new firmware (why didn't Software Update tell me about this?), deleting the DNS servers, hard reset of AirPort Express, factory reset of AirPort Express, fiddling with AirPort Admin Utility, fiddling with AirPort Setup, all of the above in different order and different combinations, and it still would not work.
Power cycling the cable modem was one of the first things I did, and that resulted in getting Internet connection through the cable modem onto the ethernet cable; just no Internet through AirPort. Finally, after a factory reset of the AirPort Express did not help, I decided to power cycle the cable modem again, even though I had already just confirmed again that I was getting the Internet through the ethernet cable. Once the cable modem finished the power cycle, it finally worked! I was back on the Internet via AirPort!
I'm not exactly sure which solution fixed it for me, but I suspect that it didn't work at first because I did not power cycle the cable modem afterwards. In other words, if after changing AirPort settings you still are not connected to the Internet, try power cycling the cable modem. Do this every time for each change you make to the AirPort settings.
The other thing I learned is that unplugging the cable modem from the wall power outlet or turning off the power strip will NOT power cycle the cable modem properly. Instead, you must remove the power cord from the cable modem. I tried all three of these methods and for whatever reason, the only time it worked was by removing the power cord.

  • Trying to connect airport extreme to comcast provided ubee modem. Light on airport green, but no internet access.

Attempting to connect ubee d3.0 comcast modem to airport extreme base station.
Light on airport will go green, but I cannot connect to the internet.
I'm sure it has something to do with DHCP/NAT - as the airport extreme is getting an IP address, but then assiging a 10.x.x.x IP to my computer
but attempts at putting it in bridge mode just causes the light to go yellow and give warning of "No DNS Server" and "No internet connection"
I am able to connect to the internet when I connected directly to the modem.
    I'm running OS 10.8.5
previously had DSL modem and connected after a few easy tweaks of the NAT settings before. am unsure what the issue is on this on... have used up my rather limited tech knowledge.
    any thoughts?
    Thank you!

Attempting to connect ubee d3.0 comcast modem to airport extreme base station.
Light on airport will go green, but I cannot connect to the internet.
Ubee provides both cable modems and gateway devices. What is the model number of yours?
I'm sure it has something to do with DHCP/NAT - as the airport extreme is getting an IP address, but then assiging a 10.x.x.x IP to my computer
By default, the AirPort Extreme would performing as a router with both NAT & DHCP enabled. Also, it would act as a DHCP server for the local network and provide out Private IP addresses in the range of 10.0.1.2 - 10.1.1.200. The WAN-side IP address of the Extreme should be a Public one and provided to you by your ISP via the Ubee modem. Did you perform a "factory default" reset on the Extreme before attempting to connect it to the modem?

  • My airport express is setup, the light is green but I have no Internet connection

i have setup my airport express the light is green but I get no wifi

I have a macbook pro 13'' with MAC OS X. Recently bought and installed airport express when it does not drop the WiFi conncetion it works great. Getting frustrated with the fact that I keep losing my WiFi connection, when this happens I check my iphone and I can access the internet do problem while my Macbook pro cannot? After doing some research on the problem I found out that this is not an uncommon problem specially or those who have upgraded to MAC OS X. From what I understand there is a a bug in the WiFi connection chip! Am going to the Apple store today to see what they have to say. I hope there is a fix for this!

  • √using successfully airport express for internet/ when hooking up new airport extreme light glows green, but does NOT appear in devices seen????airport wifi devices

using sucessfully airport express for internet
when hooking up new airport extreme light glows green, but does NOT appear in devices sesn in 5.6 airport wifi devices
wanting to use extreme at base and express in another part of the house

How is the express getting internet? What modem is it plugged into?
How is the extreme setup? New extreme cannot be setup with 5.6 utility.. you must use latest 6.3. Which also means you cannot setup from computer using less than Lion .. or you must use iOS with latest utility but it has limited configuration cf the computer version.
IPv6 is also needed.. turn on local link.

  • Connected to network, but no internet connection

Just returned from a one week trip to CA with my macBook. Prior to the trip everything regarding a connection to the internet worked fine... I have an Airport Extreme network set up at home. For the first five days of my trip, everything worked fine as well. Connected to several different open networks (offered by hotels and Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs). Then suddenly I could not get an internet connection with any browser (Safari, Firefox, Flock). At one particular B&B it worked flawlessly one evening, then the next morning at the same B&B, no internet. Yet I was connected OK to the open network. Moved on to another city, a different hotel and network, same problem. I was connected to the network, but no internet connection. In Safari, the blue bar would get as far as the http:, then it would hang there. Now having returned home to my Airport Extreme network, everything seems to be working fine again in all browsers. Any idea what I may have encountered for those two days? I have another trip planned in the near future, and would hate to have this happen again.

I'm sorry but I'm not posting to answer your problem but just to say that I have a very similar issue when connected to my home network through either wireless or ethernet- connection is erratic and pages hang despite showing an excellent signal strength. I have a divided drive and have windows installed on my Macbook. I have no problems on the windows side. My friends who have ipods and iphones have similar problems connecting to my home network. I have no problems connecting wirelessly to any other network that I've tried. This is a real shame as I want to use Mac software but end up in Windows all the time. Any light anyone can shed on this would be very welcome.

  • Airport network connected on full bars but "no internet connection" and missing lock icon!

    this is really frustrating!
I'm using wireless in my house. when i click on my network it connects and it shows perfect connection which is full bars.
on Network Preferences it says that i'm connected to the Airport but when i go to Safari it shows "You are not connected to the Internet" so i click on Network Diagnostic where the 3 network status on top has the green indicator but the ISP, Internet and Server show red and failed.
I don't think there's anything wrong with my internet connection since I'm able to go online using my sister's computer and also on my iPhone.
There's also usually a Lock icon/symbol next to my network's name but when i'm connected to my network the Lock icon seems to be missing but it still shows full bars connection. I really don't get how it's possible to be connected to a network, but no internet connection, while i can access the internet on other devices.
Please help me out here. I've tried ways like going to library>preferences then put the system configuration into Trash, and going to Network Preferences and removing the Airport service and creating a new one.
and one more thing. all mentioned above are when i clicked on Advanced on network preferences then i clicked on TCP/IP and changed the Configure IPv4 from Using DHCP to Manually. When i'm back to using DHCP there's an exclamation point over the airport icon on the top bar and it says no internet connection.

Got my own question answered by a colleague.
He had me create another "Location" in the network pane of System Preferences, then choose it and click Apply. I created a new location which I called 'Airport', chose it and clicked Apply and sure enough, an IP address showed up and all is well.
Justin said it's a network bug in Leopard.

  • My charger light is green but my computer isn't charging

I am absolutely freaking out. My charger is plugged in, and the light is green, but my computer remains at 35%, it's not dying, but it's not charging. I have done MANY trouble shooting excersises, I've done the SMC thing, and that didn't work either. I've tried plugging it into many different sockets but obviously (since i'm asking) that hasnt worked either. As you can tell from the imformation below, its not fully charged, but it's also not charging. I dont know if this information helps but I've had my computer since October 2013, it's now April 2014, so thats 6 months I've had my computer. Also, usually as soon as i relaize it has reached 100% i take my charger out, though sometimes if my computer is dead and I'm leaving the house, i leave it sleeping but charging until i get back home, also i don't frequetly shut it down, i simply leave it on sleep. ADDITINALLY I don't live in a country that has ANY Apple stores or specialist.. so sadly going to see a professional is out of the question, unless of course i can speak with them on the phone? PLEASE help me PLEASE

    brittbien,
no, that fact is not relevant to the problem.
While waiting for your friend, you could take a look at your charger to see whether it was made by Apple or not. Is there an Apple logo in relief on two of its sides? Does one of the other sides have text that states “numberW MagSafe Power Adapter”, where number is either 60 or 85, and below it “Designed by Apple in California”, and at the bottom of the text there, a trademark and copyright claimed by Apple Inc.?

  • New iMac running lion 10.7.2...partitioned drive for  windows xp pro ...successfully installed...up and running(duel boot) but no internet connection on windows side...need drivers?.....please help

new imac running lion 10.7.2     partitioned HD for duel boot and successfully installed windows xp pro (sp2)....have internet through eithernet cable on the mac side but no internet connection on the windows side....need drivers????   please help

I too am running xp spiii on my mac with lion. However I installed xp while running snow leopard then upgraded to lion and both are running fine. If you have the support disc that came with the imac all the relevant drivers are on there. The only other thing i would suggest is that you get spiii and upgrade to that.
    Hope that helps

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • Airport Says It's Connected -- But No Internet Connection...

    This is driving me mad...
We're using Airport to connect a 12" PowerBook G4 (10.4.11) to a WirelessLAN (the modem is an Arcor A300 WLAN -- a German make)
We had been having no problems until it one day said "you are not connected to the internet".
I've tried all the restarting the modem rigamarole, and the PB can connect via Ethernet. Opening Internet connect, Airport signal strength is 100%, it states that it's connected to the Arcor modem.
Under System Preferences / Network it states "You are connected to the internet via Airport"
Also, I can see the PowerBook mounted in My Mac Pro's Finder...so it must be connecting wirelessly to the Arcor box --- My Mac Pro is connected to the Arcor Box via Ethernet cable.
Anyone got any ideas, suggestions as to what's going on?
    TIA,

I am having a very similar problem with one of the iMacs here at our office on AirPort. We have four machines using an Airport Extreme, but only one has this issue--a full set of connection bars and access to everything else that is shared, but the internet connection keeps dropping every 15-20 minutes and won't reconnect. From the Airport icon we turn off the Airport, then connect again and it works fine for another 15 minutes until it quits again. I finally had to use a cable to hard-connect that computer to our network and now it works fine, so it can't be the computer itself.
What to do? I'm afraid this problem will start with the other machines, as well. Can anyone assist?
