Light print output on HP LaserJet 1300
Just upgraded to an Intel iMac from a G5 iMac, and, coincidentally (or perhaps not), the pages that come out of my HP LaserJet 1300 are looking light. I bought a new HP printer cartridge and downloaded HP drivers from the Apple website, but I've still got the same issue. I don't know whether it's related to the new computer or not, but, at the moment, I'm stumped. It could be the printer itself, but the timing of the problem starting when I got the new computer makes me wonder whether there's a connection there.

Hi, I had the same issue with my new HP C4480, I had to rest the printer quality settings within the printer, some websites Do print faint! not sure why, Text & Pictures are AOK..L

PDFs won't print (Lion and HP laserjet 1300)
I just upgraded to Lion and pdfs won't print. It doesn't appear to be the printer driver, because the printer works with others apps. Any suggestions? It's an HP Laserjet 1300. Yes, it's old, but still works, well, sometimes. just not with pdfs.

first page is ok. but second page is free.. third and other pages or normally..

Unfortunately this printer is only USB capable. It was not built to be wireless. You would need a wireless printer to print wirelessly. I hope this helps.

Hp laserjet 1300 prints at glacial speed
I am running Adober reader 8.1.2 on Mac OS 10.4.11 (MacBook Pro) and I am experiencing long delays when trying to print with my hp laserjet 1300. never had the problem before. all other apps print fine. also have canon inkjet that works fine with adobe.
when i print the hp receives the command (green light flashes) and waits about a minute and a half before spitting out one page and then another minute or so for the next page and so on.
went through hp telephone support (twice) with them sending me a refurbished printer which behaves the same way. talked to Mac support as well. I don't want to pay $39 bucks to have adobe tell me there's nothing they can do!
Help! Anybody??I have the same issue with my HP Laserjet 1300. Recently (last month) it has started to streak and put down too much black on th eleft side of the printed document. I have gone through the suggested cleaning steps in the LJ 1300 manual, wiht little improvement resulting. Are there other cleaning steps to try? Could the toner cartridge be at fault (it is not yet empty but is about two years or so old)? Any help appreciated. Can't use the printer now for any good document as it comes out looking bad!

I have a G5 tower, with Tiger and am printing to an HP Laserjet 1300. I often get the message: "printer not responding". If I turn the printer off and on, it works. any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm connected through usb.

HP1300 laserjet light printing
My hp laserjet 1300 printer recently began printing very lightly. i replaced the toner cartridge and verified that the print quality was set to 600 dpi (not economode) with no improvement in the print quality. any suggestions?

HP LaserJet P1102W - no print output in Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon Desktop
I've just done a default install of Linux Mint 17.1 - as feared, no print output.
I'm guessing I need to install a driver - but I couldn't find anything easily on HP site, only Windows/Mac OS stuff. Are HP printers generally linux friendly? Where can I download drivers if they are? More over, I'm a total linux newbie, so any drivers need to be easily installed! I'm not currently familiar with Terminal windows and line commands!
My printer does have wireless enabled, but I have it connected via direct USB also.
Linux Mint did offer to run a diagnostic tool/debugging tool which gave a great deal of what means nothing to me. Debug output is below if it is helpful, but hoping a simple driver install will cure all ...

Photoshop CS3 printing garbage characters on HP LaserJet 1300
After installing CS3, Photoshop prints garbage characters on my HP LaserJet 1300.
Yes, I have tried printing as ASCII, ASCII85, Binary and JPEG - nothing helps (plus the settings won't stick even after holding down Alt and clicking the Remember button).
The only way to print right now is to choose Save as PDF in the print dialogue, open the PDF in Adobe Reader and print from there.
Any ideas?tzw - I responded about this on another forum. I talked to technical support at Adobe about this exact issue about 2 months ago - can't print photoshop CS3 on any of my three HP printers. ( I have a HP1200, an HP 2550 and a HP photosmart 7660) (CS2 works fine) They worked with me for about an hour - called me back and worked some more, and then decided to send it up to the programmers (or engineers or whatever) The programmers called me and worked with me for another hour - trying different set-ups etc., but the conclusion by them was that this was a huge problem in that there were a lot of HP printers out there - that they were going to give this their top priority - and that there would be a fix for this soon. (I have yet to see a fix.)

HP LaserJet 1300 no longer prints from OS 10.7.5.
My HP LaserJet 1300 has suddenly stopped printing various files, most notably PDFs from Acrobat X. I had no problems previously. Did an OS update to 10.7.5 cause this problem?

upgrade from x4.11 to x5.8 and the printer drives seem to be "wacky"
ALSO; after downloading the "newest" drivers and installing & the system updater also "found new drivers" and installed them, the problem was actually worse.
And; in Print manager, created a new printer with driver, still no help, finally in desperation =
the FIX: to find the nearly dozen duplicate driver files (in both Library / printers & PPDs) and trashed them ALL, then re-installed the brother driver package and all is good again. -
HP LaserJet 1300 won't print from Classic
I can’t print out of Classic environment because the printer (HP Laserjet 1300) isn’t installed there. My computer does not have dual boot. (That is, it can run classic, but not boot up in classic.) I've read some related posts and have tried some suggestions, but so far to no avail.
The installation CD has installation for OS 9 and OS 10 and I have installed both from the OS X environment. But there is still no HP Laserjet 1300 icon in the Chooser in the OS 9 environment. I should mention that when I went to chooser and clicked on Laserwriter 8 icon, I noticed that there was a place that said “Select a PostScript Printer” but there was no printers to be selected in the related field. I have been to Apple System Profiler in OS 9 and there is no driver listed there for my HP laserjet even though I have installed it.
When I click print I get a yellow ! message that says that my Document could not be printed because printer “LaserWriter could not be found. Try again?
This printer works fine from OS X, but not from classic. I called apple help and they said to go to the HP website. The HP website said the following:

MY QUESTION:
How do I “run the OS 9 installation”? What buttons do I press to do this?

Fredfroellig, two wholly different things here.
Looking at the 9 driver for LaserJet 1300 HP offers for download, anyway, it isn't actually a driver - it's merely an installer which, from either X or 9, should give you Printer Description Files to use with the standard PostScript drivers, namely LaesrWriter 8 or AdobePS.
Test that it did that much by using Apple's Desktop Printer Utility to create a virtual desktop printer… If the Change button in PostScript Printer Definition (PPD) File pane leads to a Printer Descriptions list that does include HP LaserJet 1300 Series that much, at least, seems to have worked.
If the printer works from OS X, then you could use LaserWriter 8 in Classic to Print to File, which would give you .ps files which you could manually drag into any X print queue. This works for most printers.
The other thing is that yes, LaserWriter should show the 1300 in the right-hand Chooser pane so again, can X see it and print to it?
If not that suggests a cable or hardware fault, bad settings or interference from other software.
If X can see and use the printer, and there are no other faults with Classic 9, that suggests something inside OS 9 is interfering. -
HP Laserjet 1300 Manual Double Sided Printing with Windows 7
I just purchased a new laptop with windows 7, love the interface but have some hiccups here and there. And the one that is the biggest pain is printing. I have a HP Laserjet 1300 connected via a linksys print server. Single sided printing works just fine, but I used to be able to (and still can from my work laptop running XP and from my wifes Laptop running Vista Home) print double sided manually. But now even though it says duplex, it will not work and I think the Windows Driver believes that it is a duplexer attached to the printer verses a manual feature. Any ideas on how to get my manual double sided printing back?

More importantly, I was also able to modify the hpcu1306.xml file to enable full 1200 dpi support, by adding the following prn_grp at the end of the "Print Quality" section (after the hp LaserJet 9040 prn_grp and before the closing "</feature>")

NB : PQGroup_2 is for 600 dpi, PQGroup_4 is for FastRes 1200 dpi (fast) and PQGroup_5 is for ProRes 1200 dpi (finer, slower, more memory used).
