Light room and raw
I have just imported my first photos into LR shot in raw, I see the program keeps two files for each photo. one a jpeg and one raw. Does LR process the raw file as it imports it and why in library module are they displayed as jpegs, How do I access the raw files in library in LR ? thank you joanlvh

LR does not keep two files for each photo unless you tell it to. If you have your camera set to take RAW and JPG images simultaneously and if you check the preference in LR to treat RAW and JPG images with the same name as separate files you will see RAW and JPG files for each image in the Library. If you don't want RAW and JPG files for the same image, change your camera settings to just shoot RAW or uncheck the preference in LR and only RAW images will be imported.

No, but LR renders a standard size preview (you select the size in Preferences) if you check that option. It will also render a full size preview (1:1) if you check that option as well. The previews are used in the Library and Develop modules so you can see your images though different methods are used for those displays (See FAQ at beginnng of forum).
LR is a RAW converter and uses ACR 4.1 in Develop module when you open images there and LR applies default parameters which you can change. After you fine tune your image in Develop you can write the changes to XMP or export the image and save the changes to the file.

The images you see in Library are the previews rendered by LR. Previews are rendered for RAW files and JPGs. You can view previews for RAW files in Library and you can apply Quick Develop settings in Library but full RAW development must be done in Develop mode.

Adobe does not market old version of their products the old downloads are available mostly for old licences users so they can download their licenced products should they need to. So if you do not have a licence for Lightroom 3.6 after your 30 days trial install expires you can not use it or purchase a licence.
It would be a good Idea for you to get a new computer with Windows 7 or 8 on it. I prefer Windows 7. If you are still running XP though its a good OS and runs on old Hardware that Windows 7 and 8 can not run on. Its best to turn those old tired machines into network print servers and have nothing of value on them. For Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and security holes that are still in XP will not being plugged. You just inviting the waiting intruders in they will show up it you connect to the web and uses it.
If you are using old hardware for a modest price you can get a new machine that is more powerful then the one you using. With wireless devices it nice to have a network printer your current machine will be of no value to anyone. If you hate the idea on scrapping a working machine a print server may be the was to go IMO.
If you purchased a Photographer CC subscription you can install the subscription Photoshop CS6 version 13.1.2 that should run on XP with some newer PS features unavailable like 3D any feature the requires a GPU. CS6 does not support any GPU on Windows XP. You can do all that LR can do to images and more with Photoshop. I do not even download Lightroon. I don't need its library system or desire a second UI over the Adobe RAW conversion Engine. This save disk space and I don't have to maintain and additional Adobe product and a simpler work-flow.
Besides CS6 you can install LR 4.4 I do not use LR so I have no ides if it will run on XP. XP not listed in LR 4.4 requirement.

Have down loaded Yosemite over Mountain Lion. Indesign CS5 does not operate although Bridge, Light room and also Photoshop elements operate OK A sub menu from Indesign request Java SE 6, after a long play with Apple I end up with Java 10 How can I solve this problem rapidly. Pity apple do not test there products before offering them to the public. It costs us. Many thanks Davi E-C

Have just down loaded Yosemite over Mountain Lion, Indesign CS5 does not work ( Am dependant on it) although Bridge , Light Room and Elements operate OK How do I solve this rapidly. Can any one help on this issue. Thanks
Sorry to say it, but I think you can see from Bob's response that there's no way to solve this rapidly.
Did you take an image of your Mountain Lion install before upgrading to Yosemite? Roll back to that. If you're not in the habit of taking a snapshot of your system before performing operating system upgrades - get in that habit. If you are dependent on anything at all on hour computer, having a reliable backup method in place is essential. If you don't have a Time Capsule, or some other way to run Time Machine onto a disk that's not in your computer, go set that up yesterday.
If you can't just remove Yosemite and roll back to Mountain Lion for whatever reason, you can partition your drive so that you can install both Yosemite and Mountain Lion on the same drive, and then boot into Mountain Lion when you need to work in CS5. Or you can take your Mountain Lion disc (I assume you have one, no?) and then use it to create a virtual machine in something like VirtualBox to run Mountain Lion from inside Yosemite. -

I have a new windows 8 computer. I had light room and pS 10 on my old computer. How can I get them on this new computer without repurchasing? I have the code of my lightroom sitting here but I assuming you can only use it on one computer and I used it on the old computer.

I never had this problem with lightroom 3, I purchased the upgrade and since then i have done all the updates including my photoshop and it still will not work.
HelpI am six minutes into the video and while Jan is doing a great (terrific, actually) job of explaining things I already know, she has yet to explain the subject issue. So I am unsure what "at the beginning" means... is there a time-marker for the point you are referring to?
Anyway, I have Lightroom v5.5 and Photoshop CC 2014 installed on two machines -- a Win v8.0 Laptop and a Win v8.1 Desktop. Adobe Camera Raw (in Photoshop) is v8.5 on the Laptop and v8.2 on the Desktop. Therefore when I "edit in" in Photoshop on the Desktop I, too, get the OP's error message. When I use the "Update" option under the "Help" menu in Photoshop (on the Desktop), I am told that all the programs are "Up-to-date."
Does anyone know how to force an ACR update? In other words is there an "install" process somewhere?
Edit: Jan's explanation of the error message starts a the 31:50 mark. It does not, however, answer my question about updating Photoshop CC 2014. -

Signed up to pay monthly for light room and photo shop but its the wrong photoshop
I needed Photoshop element 13 which i thought was the one i downloaded and signed up for on the monthly subscription. Can i get elements 13 this way? if not how on earth do i cancel my subscription?

I am currently a new lightroom 1 user. It apparently does not support raw camera files. Is there a plug in that I can download so that I can handle these files.
First ensure you update to the final version of LR version 1, which was 1.4.1. You can do this via the help button.
If the particular camera you are using was introduced after LR 1 was replaced by LR 2 (around a year or so ago) your cameras RAW format may not be supported by LR 1.4.1. Unless you wish to upgrade (which will cost you) to LR 2, you will have to first convert your RAW files to DNG's for LR to be able to work with them. Fortunately ADOBE supply a free DNG converter that will allow you to do this.

just purchased photoshop cc ,had trouble down loading.when all done should i have ps icon shortcut on my desk top? lightroom icon and adobe atre the only two that came up is this correct?
It's possible.. In fact, I don't think it added one for me. Go to the Creative Cloud app and try launching it from there (just click on the Photoshop icon).

Lightroom 5 from cloud install - lost light room and it will not reinstall
I have had lightroom since version 3, made all the upgrades, last week I installed version 5 through the cloud and it would not start yet the cloud says it is up to date. I have spent all morning looking for an answer. I uninstalled lightroom 5 but the cloud still says it is installed. I deleted the odp file and restarted my computer several times and it still says it is installed and will not reinstall!

What four files are you referring too? The only file referenced being removed is the OPM.db file.
What process did you utilize to remove Photoshop Lightroom 5? What operating system are you wishing to install Photoshop Lightroom on? -
I have a single subscription for photoshop CC. I downloaded Lightroom from creative cloud a week ago by accident. I deleted it. It now turns out it is now part of my subscription and I can't download it as CC thinks I already have it?

So is the cloud the only way to get Light room and most recent edition of PS?
I am thinking of updating my PS(I have cs3) but seems the only way to get it thru adobe where my license is verified is thru the cloud. When did this start? If I can load the app to my computer what stops me from continuing to use it after i quit the cloud? Can I not get older versions of PS and LR thru adobe anymore as a stand aline product?

I have successfully installed Flash Player on All Winner Android 4.4.2 100.1" Tablet. You have to use the following link to Archive Flash Player Archived Flash Player versions and download Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.81). It has to be used in conjunction with UC Browser, Dolphin Browser, Boat Browser or any other which supports Flash player & make some changes to settings. It worked for me.
