Light Room crashing before it opens

Every time I try and launch LR5 it crashes before opening. This just started happening this week. Both PS and Br are working fine. I am on a Dell machine running Windows 8.1 and have 16gb ram. Any ideas how to cure this issue?
Thanks
gene

Further information; When LR starts to open it looks like thee is an error message---it doesn't stay long enough for me to read it completely but I think it is saying something about a problem with the preview cache but it closes before I can tell for sure. My going to the lrcat folder and working backwards I have been able to get LR to open and am now reimporting my 2014 images (luckily we are only a couple months into the year) and will see if that works.

  • Firefox 3.6.6 for Mac 10.4.11 crashes before it opens

I updated my firefox to the latest 3.6.6. Unfortunately, it crashes before it opens. Why? It would not even give me a crash ID number because it never opens at all. The older version of firefox works though.

    Hello.
Hopefully this support article is what you need:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
In any case, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem is not disappears when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there.

  • Firefox crashing before it opens

It has been constantly crashing before it even opens. I have been a FF user for years and I would hate to have to go back to IE or Chrome.

    Any help would be great.

You may have to try other malware scanning programs as well.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

    Hi,
According to what you have mentioned it is start tracking devices. Are you launching software from some remote location. Or are you connected to some external device.
Is InDesign throwing some error before crashing.
Have you sucessfully updated to the 2014.1?
Please revert back with your answers then we can see more for the root cause.

  • Firefox crashes before it opens

When I try to run Firefox I get a screen saying that it has crashed. Firefox won't open at all. I installed the newest version because I thought it might be a problem with the older version I was running but I still received the same crash notification and Firefox still won't open.

Sounds that you may have caught some malware (efcaby.dll and effeef.dll).

  • Safari 3.04 Crashes Before Even Opening.

I've had 3.04 since the 26th of last month and it worked fine on both my G5 imac and core2duo black macbook for a couple of days. Then it began and continues to crash even before opening on the macbook, though it still works fine on the imac, I found another discussion on this topic but its only solution was to trash safari and re-install it from the Leopard disc. This I tried and it hasn't helped. Any ideas? (I am shocked at all the others having problems here as well)

Problem solved. I checked back (again) at the previous posting on 10/30 "Safari 3.0.4 crashes instantly when started" and the answer that solved it by Dennishch. I tried again and it crashed again, which it should have done. Thinking I should uninstall Safari and return to Safari2, I searched and found that an additional copy of Safari that was lodged in a microsoft office folder of all places was the problem. After I deleted it, Safari 3.04 is up an working again on my macbook.

  • FCP project file crashes before even opening

I am working for a client and using there system which is a G4 iMac running OS 10.4.11 and I am editing using FCP Studio 2, FCP 6.0.4
The quick is I am trying to open a project which recently has been taking forever to load and just recently crashes Final Cut Pro once it opens, which prevents me to work on it further, I was able to open it once long enough to copy the files into a new FCP project but after I saved and restarted FCP from the new Project folder I got the same result. I have tried going back into my auto save vault and open old files but I get the same result. I am able to open other FCP projects so I don't think it is a problem with FCP but more so with this particular file. ok so maybe that was the long version, please can any one offer any solutions or is all lost?
    thanks

It slow t load while “Reading Project” this is a photo based project actually its all photos. a time laps of over a month or more taking pictures everyday at approx 1 pic every hour or 30 mins. so I have alot of photos in the FCP project file. this i can understand for the slow loading time. but what is causing the FCP project to crash so often? i did try emptying the preference files but still no luck.

  • Photoshop CS6 crashing before it opens?

I recently installed CS6 student/teacher version, but after installing, whenever I try to open it, it loads through to "initializing", and then crashes right away. I've tried using both the  64 bit and the regular versions, both have this problem. Everything is already set up, but I cannot open the program. Does anyone know what I could do to get it to work? Thanks!

You would have to provide system information and possible the crash details. On Windows those can be found in the Event Viewer under Start --> All programs --> Utilities --> System Tools. Chances are that the activation thing is not working properly, so this would also be relevant:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html
Also by all means make sure to turn off external stuff like virus scanners or overzealous firewalls that could block things.

  • Microsoft Software and Adobe Suddenly Crashing Before they open

So all of a sudden one day I can't open any of my microsoft office applications, i click on them and before they even open an error comes up saying "this application quit unexpectedly" and now it has started happening with Adobe reader too. I've tried restarting and checking for software updates and no luck. I'm running microsoft office 2008 for mac. It says theres a critical update needed, but again I can't open the updater. I can't even open the uninstaller. does anyone have any suggestions about why this is happening and what I can do.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - create a new "Standard" account not Guest account - something which should create its own preference files.
You may also want to reduce your fonts down to system-only fonts (and add your fonts back bit by bit) as well as reinstalling (and updating to the latest version) MS Office. Out of interest which version are you running?

  • AFTER EFFECTS WILL EITHER NOT OPEN OR CRASHES BEFORE IT OPENS.

    Hello all.
My dilemma is AE will not open at all. I will click on the icon and wait for it to load, nothing happens. I double click on it more than twice and it opens up straight to the AE interface and then crashes. My system is updated with the requirements I need. I just don't understand what the problem is.
I  don't know if  something is conflicting with the program and stopping it from opening.  I have successfully opened it more than once and the program works fine.
    Any help is welcome
    Kind regards an animation student.

  • Firefox crashes before even opening

Whenever I go to open Firefox, a "Mozilla Crash Reporter" appears. The only two options available to me from there are to close the window, restart Firefox, or quit Firefox. If I "restart Firefox," the window just pops up again. If I quit, the window merely closes. I tried restarting my computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. I'm not especially computer savvy and don't know where to go from here.
    Thank you for your help!

That is a problem with the lvprcinj01.dll file that is part of the Logitech QuickCam software.

Attempt to open firefox and it immediately goes to the crash report.

You indicated that you have Roboform installed. Update to the latest version, which is compatible with Firefox 8. Earlier versions cause Firefox 8 to crash.
*You can try to update to Roboform '''''<u>7.6.3</u>''''' to see if that solves the crashing problem: http://www.roboform.com/platforms/browsers/firefox
