Light shining through black cover between earphone hole and screen.

Has anyone had the issue where there is a line in between the screen and earphone hole, which is part of the black plastic covering, but light shines through?
I took my wifes iPhone back today and exchanged it, it seems that it was a manufacturing defect, probably occurred during the cooling of the plastic mold for the face, which made it thinner than it should have been, hence allowing the light from the edge of the screen connector to seep through the black plastic.
Anyone have any input? Would be very interesting to hear what someone else thinks.
I know this is a somewhat silly reason to exchange an iPhone, but to be honest, the iPhone is not just a technological device, but it is also a social device that is based on it's appearance, so we felt that the appearance was flawed, which I think is a valid point, especially when you feel the flaw is due to manufacturing defect.

The exchange went flawlessly, just had to wait for a Genius to become available, took a little over an hour. This had to be because of a manufacturers defect, now we have two perfect iPhones, well except for some of the service problems, but I would give it up for anything.
Now I just have to see what I can do about moving to europe, hope they can activate it so that I can use it there, but doubtful!

    -          Format and consistancey checks for the data entered by the user.
    -          Easy correction of input errors.
    -          Access to data by storing it in the data bases.
    screen progarmming means.dialogue programming contains.
    -          Screens (Dynpros)
    -          Each dialog in an SAP system is controlled by dynpros.A dynpros consists of a screen
And its flow logic and controls exactly one dialog step.
    -          ABAP/4 module Pool.
Each dynpro refers to exactly one ABAP/4 dialog program .Such a dialog program is also       called a module pool ,since it consists of interactive modules.

  • My video recording sounds not working but other sounds are working fine, I've tried clearing the little mic thing near my earphone hole and had no success can someone please help me out?

    hhi guys
my video recording sounds not working at all but it's working for other things such as music. I've tried to clear my sound thing near the earphone hole but had no success can someone please help me out?

Had an Iphone 4 for about 3 months now. This happened to the first one I had and they ended up having to replace it at the apple store just a couple weeks ago 6/2. It happened again last night to my new one. This time i was able to correct it by going to itunes, backing up the phone to icloud, and then restoring the software. Mine did not work with voice memo, but did work with headphones plugged in, and would also work on speaker. I could hear callers but they couldn't hear me. I had purchased a new case (lifeproof case at $79.99) because it comes with plugs that cover the headphone jack, and the charging port, and is also waterproof. I heard that the root cause is due to lint, dirt, etc getting inside the headphone jack. Well, must be something else. It's a 10 days old phone, and has been in this overpriced case the whole time, and I have not used the headphones. I hope this doesn't keep happening.

  • Lights Shining Through Sides of iPhone?

i just got my third iphone, after two that had problems with them, and noticed something that i hadnt on my previous ones. on the front pannel, where the screen is, there are four areas that look like theyre either not patched well or something, where the light from the screen shines through. theyre not huge, just dots/specks of light. theres one on both left and right sides of the top and bottom black pannels, where the black meets the silver trim. does anyone else have this? sorry if i didnt explain it too well...

Let me get this straight. You "sold the other two", "that had problems with them"?
Why are there so many QC problems? In my eyes, and my experience, there aren't. We have three iPhones in my immediate family, two bought on day one, and all three have never missed a beat. The experience has been the same for members of my extended family and numerous friends. No synch issues, no hardware issues, no software issues, not a scratch even though two are used by teens and without cases.
This makes you posting hard to believe. Are you saying that because you have no sync issues, no hardware issues, no scratches, or other such problems that the remainder of the people posting to this thread are experiencing "fictitious" failures. Come on, just because you are not experiencing what appears to be QC problems does not mean they are not there or they are not having issues.
I too do not experience many of the problems that other are experiencing but I do acknowledge that others are having problems regardless of what they may be. My concerns are with functionality.
Not pointing the finger at anyone, but I wonder how much of the complaining and commiserating on this board comes from people who are just plain poor at understanding and using complex consumer electronics, people who are are buying and selling iPhones of questionable origin, or folks who contrive stories just so they can complain about Apple.
Not saying that you are pointing any fingers but lets face it, the consumer is a lot smarter than you give them credit for.
Additionally, there are a lot of posters on this entire forum that may in fact have a lot of experience - in some case more than you may have. Let's keep this to the facts and not use that tactic to void the 'consumers' concerns.

  • That black blink between an animation and the menu it's leading into

Is there any way in Encore to make the transition from a timeline to a menu seamless? It just looks kind of cheap to have a slick video into and then BA-BWINK a quick black screen before the main menu pops uf the
FYI I'm using Encore CS5 (and the rest of the Master Suite, in case that opens up any options).

How short that blip is varies with the player. Scripting is required to do the best job (and Encore does not allow scripting).
The best way to avoid this is to make the intro video part of the motion background and use a loop point so it doesn't repeat.

  • Bmpanel creates a black gap between my wallpaper and the panel

I am running Xcompmgr (as you can see by the window shadows) and PekWM. bmpanel is compiled with compositing support (0.9.x, couldn't get bmpanel2 to compile). But whenever I start bmpanel, my wallpaper moves up to make room and leaves a black space. This does not happen with simpler bmpanel themes that don't have pieces extending off the panel.
As you can see in the screenshot, I'm looking at a screenshot of someone else who has managed to get it working correctly. No clue how, though. The screenshot also contains the CLI feedback.
I'm setting the wallpaper with feh --bg-scale, do I need to use something else? Running feh again after bmpanel doesn't change anything.
    Thanks!

  • Gaps between chrome bezel and screen

I just noticed that I have 2 gaps between the chrome bezel and the screen of the phone. It's not noticeable in bright light, like when I'm outside, but when I get a call or message at night I notice the light from the phone coming through the two gaps. Is there anything I can do? Will the warranty cover this? I know it is only two small gaps, but it just really bothers me knowing that there is a problem with my iPhone.

I have been through 7 Iphone 3G's and if that is your only issue than my advice is to leave it alone. Out of all the phones, I have still been unable to recieve a phone in perfect condition. The one I have now was out of a brand new box and still has very minor light leakage and a few pieces of dust under the screen. The dust is only noticable in direct sunlight. So just to give you a warning if its a problem that you don't notice that often then just let it be. If its a problem that bugs you then exchange it, but that doesn't mean the next phone won't have the same problem. I think all 7 phones I have received has had some sort of light leakage. Good luck!!

  • 27" iMac: distance between stand base and screen glass?

I searched high and low, but can't find this info anywhere..
On photos of new 27" iMacs, it looks like the front bottom aluminum part of the screen (with Apple logo on it), became narrower comparing to 24" iMacs. Meaning that screen itself is probably positioned lower than on 24" iMacs (which would be terrific)
I wonder if any of 27" iMac owners could be so kind to put their display in vertical 90 degree position and measure the distance between stand base (the top of the table) and the screen glass? I have attached the picture of the measurement I need.

    Thanks in advance!

I think the answer is 16.3cm. It's the same distance as on the new 21.5" iMacs. I already started a topic myself, asking the same question:

  • Screen flashes between battery level and screen saver

    Hi
When I charge my iPhone up in my new iH8 alarm clock I get the "switch to airplane mode" message - fair enough. But once its been charging a few minutes the screen comes on by itself and then flashes between the image of the battery and the screen background image. It also makes an annoying click too... This flashing seems to go on indefinitely.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If this is the first generation Apple TV, then unfortunately it sounds like the unit has failed. You might try removing all the cables for a few minutes and then powering it back up, however even should this prove successful, the Apple TV may well do the same thing again shortly after.

  • HP dv6-2140 ed. Gap between plastic frame and screen

    Hi!
I have bought my HP laptop 20 days ago and have noticed that the plastic frame around the screen is firmly attached on it at the bottom and sides, but not at the top of it (where the webcam is). Whenever I move the screen towards me, a 3mm gap between the plastic frame and the screen appears. Is this a problem or a factory characteristic of all HPs?
Thank you in advance for your help!

wait a second...it may just not be bolted down correctly. All display panels are the same thickness and the plastic casing has to snap tight around it. I could see the plastic casing just coming unsnapped. If you are not handy you may need to send it in for service but if all it takes is snapping the display casing down you could do that without affecting the warranty. .

  • 24" iMac - light visible through case

Soes anyone else have their 24" in a dark room ?
At night when my room is pitch black, I can see a light shining through the case. It's NOT the sleep light, and I can see it even when the computer is turned off.
The location of the light is immidiately to the right of the apple logo.
I can see the silhouette of what looks like the same grating as on the bottom of the computer in a diagonal strip. It's too dim to get a picture, but it is visible (from up to 4-6 feet) in a dark room.
It's probably just the processor or motherboard LED or something. I was just surprised to see it. Apple markets the advantages of the ambient light sensor on the sleep light, and when turned of, a light shines through the case!
If anyone could shed some light (lol, I wasn't even trying to pun) on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone else see the same thing?
    BTO 24" iMac 2.16 C2D 1GB 7600GT

I noticed the same light on my 24" the other night while it was off.
It's in the same position as you describe. It's not a bright light, if I look directly at it I can hardly see it but if I look slightly away its more obvious. Up close you can see the silhouette as mentioned.
From what I read on a forum its just an LED on the motherboard, the fact that it is near the sensor could explain why its noticeable - the plastic there is translucent to allow the IR signals to pass through? Thats what I read anyway.

  • Differences between jdk1.1 and j2sdk1.4 (urgent please)

Someone tels me what are the main differences between jdk 1.1 and j2sdk 1.4 : packages, classes, methods, types ...please. And if there is a package that makes changes to upgrate a code written under jdk1.1 to one that operates under 1.4 or even 1.3 please tell me as quick as possible
    Thanks

Yes, that might "generally" be true, but if you want a
    list of incompatibilities:
    Starting here
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/compatibility.html#incompa
    ibilities1.4 (Incompatibilities between 1.4 and 1.3)
you can trace back through the incompatibilities
between 1.3 and 1.2 and the incompatibilities between
1.2 and 1.1.Correct, but I feel pretty safe saying "generally" because of the following paragraph from the above mentioned document:
J2SE 1.4.0 is strongly compatible with previous versions of the Java 2 Platform. Almost all existing programs should run on J2SE 1.4.0 without modification. However, there are some minor potential incompatibilities with 1.3 that involve rare circumstances and "corner cases" that we are documenting here for completeness.

  • Foam sheet between keyboard and screen, Replacement?

    Hi,
I'm wondering if anybody knows if this has a part number ? and where can
    I get one ?
I'm wanting to know if I can get a factory replacement of the thin foam sheet
that is part of the packing materials that goes between the keyboard and screen.
You know, when your Powerbook was new, when you opened the lid
for the first time, there was that thin foam sheet over the keyboard, speakers,
trackpad the whole surface area. I guess it's more like the foam is the size of
the whole screen area, to protect the screen.
This may seem silly to want to replace this, but I have a PowerBook that's coming
up on 3 years old and every time I have closed the lid (screen) I have put the thin
foam in to protect the screen. So, the screen is perfect after 3 years.
Much different than my co-workers PowerBooks. They didn't see any
need for this foam and didn't use it and their screens are etched / scratched from
the keys, mirror images of the keys scratched into their screens.

    Hi there,
I'm not sure if Apple assigns part numbers for their packing materials, but you could either visit your local Apple store to see if they happen to have any of these lying around, or you could purchase a screen protector to do the job.
I used the foam sheet for a few years, but lost it recently, so I went out and bought an iKlear Cleaning kit which included a polish cloth which is the size of the keyboard and trackpad area, and I find it does a fine job of protecting the screen.
Go to klearscreen.com and have a look.

  • What is the difference between customer exits and user exits?

    hello friends,
what is the difference between customer exits and user exits?

    Hi
User exit - A user exit is a three character code that instructs the system to access a program during system processing.
SXX: S is for standard exits that are delivered by SAP.   XX represents the 2-digit exit number.
UXX: U is for user exits that are defined by the user.  XX represents the 2-digit exit number
Customer exit - The R/3 enhancement concept allows you to add your own functionality to SAP’s standard business applications without having to modify the original applications. SAP creates customer exits for specific programs, screens, and menus within standard R/3 applications. These exits do not contain any functionality. Instead, the customer exits act as hooks. You can hang your own add-on functionality onto these hooks.     *-- Mani
The following document is about exits in SAP :-
The R/3 enhancement concept allows you to add your own functionality to SAP’s standard business applications without having to modify the original applications.
SAP creates user exits for specific programs, screens, and menus within standard R/3 applications. These exits do not contain any functionality. Instead, the customer exits act as hooks. You can hang your own add-on functionality onto these hooks.
    Types of Exits
There are several different types of user exits. Each of these exits acts as hooks where you can attach or "hang" your own add-ons.
    Menu Exits
Menu exits add items to the pulldown menus in standard SAP applications. You can use these menu items to call up your own screens or to trigger entire add-on applications.
SAP creates menu exits by defining special menu items in the Menu Painter. These special entries have function codes that begin with "+" (a plus sign). You specify the menu item’s text when activating the item in an add-on project.
    Screen Exits
Screen exits add fields to screens in R/3 applications. SAP creates screen exits by placing special subscreen areas on a standard R/3 screen and calling a customer subscreen from the standard screen’s flow logic.
    Function Module Exits
Function module exits add functions to R/3 applications. Function module exits play a role in both menu and screen exits.
When you add a new menu item to a standard pull down menu, you use a function module exit to define the actions that should take place once your menu is activated.
Function module exits also control the data flow between standard programs and screen exit fields. SAP application developers create function module exits by writing calls to customer functions into the source code of standard R/3 programs.
These calls have the following syntax:
    CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION ‘001’.
    Field Exits
Field exits allow you to create your own programming logic for any data element in the Dictionary. You can use this logic to carry out checks, conversions, or business-related processing for any screen field.  Example: The data element BBBNR identifies a company’s international location number. You might want to set up your R/3 System so that all international location numbers are larger than 100.
The field exit concept lets you create a special function module that contains this logic.
You assign the special function module to the data element BBBNR. You then assign the module to any programs and screens in which users can add new international location numbers. When you activate your field exit, the system automatically triggers your special routine whenever a user enters a company location number.
In 4.6c, you can use "RSMODPRF" program to create field exits.
An example of a user exits :-
    MODULE user_exit_0001 INPUT
        CASE okcode.
            WHEN 'BACK OR EXIT'.
                CASE sy-dynnr.
                        WHEN '100'.
                             SET SCREEN 0.
                             LEAVE SCREEN.
                        WHEN '200'.
                             SET SCREEN 100.
                             LEAVE SCREEN.
                 ENDCASE.
          ENDCASE.
