Lighting filter

PS CS2 - Win XP
From time to time I observe the following phenomenon:
I want to apply the lighting filter to a graphic. And nothing happens. The dialogue window won´t open, no effect. Only the history list registers: "lighting effects". I think I remember the problem from earlier versions.
What takes it to make the filter work? Or is it a bug?

My experience:
Sometimes it works with layers containing tranparency. Sometimes it doesn't work on "flat" layers. Oftentime it works just fine.
It´s lottery.
Can´t see a logic in it. As if the rules were hidden from me.

  • Photoshop CC Lighting Filter is not working

Lighting Filter is not working.  When you run the filter the circular ring/point does not appear to adjust the light.  It is totally missing. You can adjust the settings but the filter never runs.  After attempting to run the filter I tried to go back to my workspace.  It would not reset to the default Essential workspace.  The other workspaces were OK.  I closed and reopened the application and my workspace was restored.  I tried running my GPU settings in advanced normal and basic.  None of the settings worked.  Please advise if I am missing something.

The filter is now working.  It looks like you must close and reopen the application after changing your settings for the filter to work.

    China,
It sounds like you are selecting the Photoshop folder in the Finder.  You need to highlight the Photoshop application icon, not the folder that contains it.

It is.  Absolutely identical, except for the price.

  • Black Line When Lighting Filter Is Applied

When I apply Lighting Effects filter to a full size image (5184 x 3456) a black line occurs on the image. If I reduce the image size, the line does not occur. Why is this?

  • How do I get back the lighting filter?

I'm an amateur artist who sometimes used, in Photoshop Elements 9, a filter in the "render" category that could change the lighting.  It was terrific for creating things like candlelight, campfire glows, or (in this admittedly amateurish backdrop for my website) sunrises through objects.  Now I have Photoshop Elements 12, and the feature has vanished!  Is there a legal way to transfer it from 9 to 12, since it's all from the same company?  Or would that violate the tampering ban even though it's from one Adobe product to another?  If it's legal, where is the filter stored, and where do I move it to?
Picture example (obviously amateurish, but all mine): http://dreamdeer.grailmedia.com/images/deirdrerookie.jpg

Also, on a windows system you can use the Lighting Effects Classic and Lighting Styles from the cs6 optional plugins download in pse 12.
(use the plug-in in the Optional Plug-Ins Win32 folder)

  • Light Filter for m55-S3293

I assume I have a fifteen inch screen for my M55-S3293. I need a screen filter. Suggestions on where to get one. [email protected]

Thank you-- that's the thread I've been hoping to find. Right now I have a simple set up--movie projector about 5 feet onto a white wall, and digital camera just behind and to the right. The two main problems I'm having are with flicker and color. Perhaps the color can be improved with exposure adjustment, bit the flicker is so irritating! I do have a variable speed projector, and more reading suggests that the optimal speed is just a tad faster than the normal speed, whereas for me the optimal speed has been at the fastest setting, and still with very noticeable and headache-inducing flicker; perhaps I need to be more patient in finding the "sweet zone".
I actually do not mind having this professionally done, if only I can get a free sample just to make sure the results justify the cost.
Thanks again, and please feel free to pass along any more tips you have discovered.

  • How do I get the Lighting Effect filter to work with PS5.1 and Mavericks

Photoshop boots up in 64 bit.  There is no option to open in 32 bit unter photoshop app, get info dialog box.  Only "prevent app nap". When I change to RGB 8 bit.  nothing changes.  The filter does not show at all. It is not greyed out.  When using Finder, the lighting filter seems to be there in the plug-ins folder.  Please help.  Thank you.

Have you tried an Adobe forum? PS5 is an Adobe product!

  • Photoshop cc lighting effects do not seem to work

I am trying to put spotlight on area in photo but from render - lighting effects all that happens is my workspace changes on the right to "lighting effects" but nothing works and I have to close this side and shut down photoshop just to go back to a normal "essential" workspace. == what is the problem?

I'm having the same issue as well. Just started using CC tonight on both my home and work Macs. My home computer is a late 2006 MacPro, 6GB RAM, 2.66ghz and the work computer is 2013 MacPro with way more guts in it. Photoshop at home runs terribly slow all together but I did manage to see some slight improvement when I switched off "Use Graphics Processor" in the Preferences panel (Prefs > Performance) but this also turns off the Lighting effects filter. I remote logged in to my work Mac and using the same file (saved in the cloud), applied the lighting filter and it worked perfectly. All that to say, I'm pretty certain is a graphics processor/memory issue more than it being a CC issue. At home, the filter attempts to work, stops, and the only thing left is the properties panel like the effect is active.
Looks like I need some upgrades.
    Hope this helps!

  • Photoshop cc lightning filter

I am able to select the lighting effect in Photoshop cc, but the entries in the top left Tool Presets are missing.
After 3 days of searching, I come to the conclusion that it is because of my old Macbook
(2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo / 4 GB SDRAM) and the outdated graphic card (Intel GMA X3100 OpenGL Engine).
The settings in the advanced graphics processor only permits "simple" and is grayed out.
I wonder why the lighting filter is not grayed out and I can not change the effect anyway.
I also use RGB 8 bit - as described in the manual. With Photoshop CS6, the effect was working on my macbook.
To me, it would already help if I would know that it just does not work because of my old graphic card.
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance

  • Photoshop CS lighting effects rendering malfunction

You know I am really angry with Adobe regarding this issue. I have spent hours on the phone with them and they have no clue what they are doing it would seem. I have lost a client job because of this.
If you have this issue please let me know:
Try to render lighting effects in your image and you cannot manipulate your lights as in scaling and moving them. You will see the light but cannot do a damn thing with it.
I spent 2 hours online with Adobe tech support which involved them taking remote control of my machine. New account was made in Windows and Photoshop launched under that account which solved it temporarily. Then it was decided to throw out all my ADOBE preferences under may account which worked until today when I started working again only to find out the problem is back.
I am just completely dissapointed now with Adobe in general. If they cant fix their own software what is a user to do.
Can anyone help with this issue from experience? Please do not guess - I am need an actual permanent solution.
    Thanks

  • How do I get Lighter Effects work space?

I am having problems with Lighter Effects. I can't seem to get it to open its work space. I go into Filters, Render Lighter Effects and click on it. When I do, it blinks the properties and then adds a layer naming it Lighter Effects. But it never opens the work space. It only sometimes opens up the Lighter Effect properties. And without the work space, I can't do anything with the properties anyway.
I need a way to fix this so the Lighter Effect work space appears when I click on the Lighter Effects in the Filter Render. I have just re-installed and updated Photoshop CC 2014, if that helps those out there helping people like me who are not experts at Photoshop.

You can find the system requirements by clicking on the hyperlink in my previous post.
Re: 3D, you should be able to, for example, open a 3D model via 3D > New 3D Layer from File. Or you could select a normal 2D layer and go to 3D > New Mesh from Layer. If you can't do this your video card does not meet system requirements or the driver may need to be updated.
If your Lighting Filter is working properly your window should look something like this:

  • Getting error while executing DTP

    Hello,
I am learning BI 7.0, am trying load master data from a flatfile to InfoObject. I am getting error when I execute DTP.
I have 15 records in the file. Below are the message that I see in the DTP monitor
    -  Extraction DataSource  ( shows green light)
    - Filter out New Records with Same Key ( shows red light) Below are the messages for 15 records
' Record filtered in advance as error records with the same key exist'
Please help me how to resolve this error.

I checked my flatfile it looks as following structure
    LANG    Material Number      Mat Desc
    E          MAT001                   text1
    E          MAT002                   text2
    E          MAT003                   text3
I checked the transformations, it shows 'Key' sign against  both lang and material number field. I checked the datasource field list and I 'Key' column is not checked. I don't know where key field settings need to be done. According to my understanding combination of Lang and Material Number forms the key then it cannot be duplicate as the material number is different though the lang field is same.
    Please advise. Thanks
