Lightning cable USB connector stuck!

I plugged my lightning usb cable into my apple wired keyboard, and after a while tried to remove it.
It was stuck, no matter how I tried to (carefully) pull the cable and hold the keyboard.
After about 30mins trying, I shoved some thin cardboard in between the bottom of the usb connector and the slot in the keyboard, it helped to remove it.
On closer inspection after I had the cable out, I noticed that the indents in the bottom usb connector are deeper than many of the other usb (apple and non-apple) connectors that I have.
A warning to others out there!

Just experianced this with my cable too, in my laptop, the tip is too lift gently up and down to release, seems the socket gets locked into position. Really bad design. Looks like apple will be supplying these one after another.  Not good.
People wont be happy!
Managed to get mine out DO NOT PULL ON THE CABLE up and down movements

  • Lightning cable USB connector not charging

My lightning cable shows up as accessory not charging in my vehicle.
Old cable worked just fine. Anyone else experiencing same problem?
    Possible causes?

I have a hard time believing that my two lightning cables, and my brand new lightning to 30 pin cable are all disfunctional.
Especially since my two cables worked perfectly up until yesterday, and my adapter didn't work properly out of the box, only after the other two started failing.
The pins on a lightning cable are assigned by the firmware of the phone. I think that's the real issue. A new cable may help temporarily, but won't work for everyone in the long run.

  • Is Apple's Lightning to USB connector as bad as it seems?

Just about to upgrade my iPhone (4S) to my first Lightning-equipped model (6 Plus).
But horrified to read the awful reviews of Apple's USB to Lightning connector cable.
Is it as bad as they say?
If so, is there a good alternative; I don't mind paying for reliability?
    TIA…

    Csound1,
How reassuring: thanks; I trust your judgement.
    Much appreciated!

  • For outdoor chargers do people just resign themselves to lightning/micro usb converters?

I was at a big electronics store in Akihabara yesterday and while they must have had a selection of 500+ different cases for the iPhone 5, there were no portable chargers specific for the iPhone 5. They had zillions of chargers, but they all required buying an extra lightning / micro usb connector.
On the one hand if I do that I can use the same charger for different devices, including my new Nexus 7.
But is that what everybody does? Manufacturers don't make portable (e.g. rechargeable battery or solar) chargers for the iPhone 5 with lightning connectors built in?
Why on earth did Apple go the route of this non-standard connector when there was a perfectly good micro usb standard out there already?
    Thanks,
    doug

Look closely at the way you handle the cables. I have never had any cable, Apple or third-party, fail on me.

  • Female lightning cable to USB

    Hey everyone,
I'm installing a Pioneer radio and I have to use the VGA to Lightning connector, that leaves me with a 2' long lightning cable.
I could run an extension cable, then I'd just always have that cable hanging there, I wanted to see if I could find a female lightning to normal USB, so I can then just put a pannel mount USB on my dash, but I can't find it.

a vga extension cord would by all means be less expensive

  • Lightning cable stuck

If your lightning cable is stuck I anything like the pc if u use a thin metal nail filer and u insert it from the bottom side of the cable it will come out

You could put a drop of super glue on the end of a straight screwdriver and bond it to the broken connector. Then pull out slowly. If you get it partially out, you could use tweezers.

  • Can I use my standard car charger i got for iphone 4 with iPhone 5? if I just plug in the usb to lightning cable or will it damage the new iphone?

The charger takes a usb cable, so I figure I could just plug in my usb to lightning cable and charge using my Saitek charger.  Does anyone know if this works?

Did you get this to work?  Mine did not work when I plugged it into my at&t iphone car charger usb port.

I took my iPhone to the Service center of M/s RSG INFOTECH PRIVATE LIMITED on April 17, 2014.
Why are you posting in this forum about what occured with an independent service provider?  How is is at all relevant to Apple??  In fact, service by any person or business not authorized by Apple voids any waranty.

  • HT4101 Lightning to USB Camera Connector & the IPad 4

When connecting the Lightning to USB Camera Connector to  the IPad 4; it is giving a MSG that the device requires too much power. Any suggestions??

What are trying to use it with ? If a flash drive or card reader then a lot of them require more power than is supplied to the kit, though a powered reader might work. If a camera then does the camera have a menu setting on it to enable Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP or Pictbridge) or Mass Storage Device - I know that some Canon DSLRs do, I'm not sure about other makes.

  • What is the exact technical difference between "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" and "Lightning to USB Cable"

Mainly I am interested in attaching the iPhone to a receiver (or car etc.) to play music.
Both the "Lightning to USB Cable" and the "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" seem to do the trick. So what is the exact technical difference between the two items?
When connected to a receiver, is the iPhone the USB Master in both cases? Is the USB "Audio Device Class" standard used to transmit audio?

Thanks for all the answers! I think I should specify the use case much more clearly. Sorry for not having done this earlier.
    Use Case 1:
When I connect the iPhone to the receiver I can use the Lightning to USB, because the receiver has a female type A, just like e.g. a PC or like the charger. So I would agree that the Receiver must be the USB host, and the iPhone the USB device. This works just fine in my case, with iPhone and iPad.
In this case, the audio goes from the device to the host, or "Audio-in".
    Use Case 2:
A friend of mine has a small device that converts USB to Toslink. This thing has a female Mini USB Type A, which is typically used at the receiving side of a USB connection. This device can be connected e.g. to a Mac, and then the Mac can output audio via this device to receiver which accepts optical Toslink signals.
In this case, the audio goes from the host to the device, or "Audio-out".
It is this use case 2 that I am unsure about:
    a) Can the Lightning to USB cable be used in this case (assuming that I find the necessary non-standard adapters to actually connect the USB ports)? This would mean that the iPhone can act as a USB host with the Lightning to USB cable.
    b) I know that the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter does convert the iPad into an USB host, otherwise it could not read data from a camera. So could this adapter also be used to produce "Audio out" to a USB device that supports receiving music?
If yes, would this also work with an iPhone (as pointed out in another answer, the iPhone does nor support reading pictures from a camera)?

  • Issues transferring photo/video from iPhone 6 to Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.5 via USB-to-Lightning cable

    Hello all—
Recent upgrader to iPhone 6. I have a mid-'09 Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion and I'm seeking to transfer video I just shot on my iPhone 6 to my Macbook Pro. They are large files so I need to transfer via USB-to-Lightning cable as I don't have wi-fi capability to do the upload. However I can't access the iPhone 6 as a storage device through finder or image capture and can't figure out another way to transfer the files non-wirelessly. Any suggestions? The old iPhoto '09 on here won't let me import, either.

Why virtualize Leopard and not Snow Leopard?
I guess I did it once in Parallels:

But to be honest, I have forgotten how!
Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed into Parallels is another matter altogether!

  • How long is the supplied USB to lightning cable

What is the length of the supplied USB to lightning cable in the iPad air box?

The supplied cable is 1 meter. Slightly more than 3 ft. You can also order an Apple 2 meter cable. But most of us use a light extension cord. It's less expensive and they can be purchased almost anywhere.

    What can i do?

    jddj,
If the charger uses the firewire pins (even though it uses a USB cable) to charge in the car it won't charge the iPhone 3G.
The iPhone 3G supports charging and syncing over USB only, the original iPhone supported charging over firewire in addition.
    Hope this helps,

  • Kingston DTSE9 with Lightning to USB Camera Connector

    Hi
Does anyone know if the above USB stick works with the Lightning to USB camera connector? Just checking options before I purchase.
    thanks
    Neil

    Apologies Alfred.
I'm aware of the limitations of the system, and mimicking the file structure of a cameras storage is perfect for my needs.
My question should have stated my interest is more in regards to the energy needed to run the USB stick, as I’m acutely aware that different USB sticks have different power requirements, some being above and beyond what the IPad can supply.
I hope that this clarifies my question
    Thanks
    Neil
