Lightning connector broken

So I tried to unplug my brand new Lightning connector from the white power block and the white plastic surrounding the USB end slides right of revealing the medal connectors?
Anyone else have this issue or is this just a bad cable ?

So looks like the last post was September 2012. My wife and I have just purchaced brand new iPhone 5's and within less than a week, her Charger (the wallplug) has stopped working and my Lightning Connector as above-mentioned has broken. 4 days short of 5 months and the problem is still there. hoping there is some (Apple) based feedback soon?

  • Lightning connector broken off inside iPad?

Has anyone else had any issues with their lightning connectors? I just bought an iPad 4 two weeks ago, and unfortunately the lightning connector broke off inside the iPad last night. I took it to the Apple Store, and they charged me $300 for a replacement iPad.
It appears that the lightning connector is significantly more flimsy and fragile than the old wide connector. Please be careful!

Here are some wonderful pictures of my 4 month old ipad mini with a broken lightning port.
My wife reported my daughter twisted it off this morning.
My daughter is 5 and not that strong. Not sure exactly what happened, but from the closeups it looks like a snap-off type action that caused the breakage. Notice the right side of the lightning socket seems to have its rim bent out of shape. I think the plug must have snapped off because of too much presure to the right.
I don't think the lightning socket is "blocking an extraction". I think if I can get something to connect to the broken off plug it will come out clean. Need to try to bent the tip of a tiny needle.
Please stop me if you guys have a better idea. I not going to bother with the apple store after what you guys have reported.
I don't want to open the case if I can help it.
Anyone know how to fix this without opening the ipad mini up?
    Plan:
    Needle first.
    then....
I'm looking into the super glue trick. I think I can put the ipad on a tiny vice and then find a drill press type tool to enter the center of the socket.
I am thinking of trimming down a credit card or something to place the super glue on and use the drill press to exactly enter the credit card into the socket to the point that the super glue contacts the broken off tip and not the sides.......

  • My D800 SD card is not recognized by my new IPad. I have the lightning connector and tried but RAW and small Jpeg files...nothing!! Why not?

Cant use my IPad lightning connector for SD card with D800 even though I have tried RAW and increasingly smaller files with JPEG. Nothing works...HOw can that be that the files are recognized on a Mac but worthless for using an IPad??

  • Will Apple make a 30-pin to lightning connector that will work with a case?

Why did Apple make the 30-pin to lightning connector useless when you have a case on your iPhone 5/5s? The lightning connector part isn't long enough to fit inside when using Apple's own cases (i.e. the new leather cases for the 5s). Does anyone know if there are plans to correct this mistake and lengthen the connector?

From the reviews on Apple's site, the cabled adaptor does NOT work with Apple's own case - the lightning plug is too fat :-(

  • Is there a way to adapt an older ipod with 30-pin to a new dock with lightning connector?

Is there a way to adapt an older ipod with 30-pin to a new dock with lightning connector?

The Apple on-line store has two 30-pin to lightning adapters, but they are the wrong direction from what you want.  Try a Google search, or drop in an Apple retail store and see if they have what you need.

  • Lightning connector problem

I picked up my iPhone 5 yesterday and after getting it home and starting the long task of tranfering my thousands of songs onto the device, I noticed that there seems to a problem witht the Lightning connector. Most times when inserting the connector into the phone, there is no connection ie. no pluged in tone and unable to sync. I have found that by placing a slight downward pressure to the plug I can get it to start syncing, then after releasing the pressure it disconnects itself. I repeat, that this happens most, but not all of the time. Is anyone else noticing this or maybe I just need to try a new cable (which are not available in the HK apple store)
    Cheers
    Rhys

I have gone through about 3 lightning connector cables over the last year.  They initially work, but later they go bad.
They start having the same symptoms described above where the cable will sometimes charge if you reverse it or press down on the cable.  Over time, they just stop working.  When connected via USB to my computer, I started getting an error message indicating that the device was not working properly and the computer stopped recognizing the device as an iPhone.
Replacing the cable fixed the problem, but I'm wondering if there is a way to get the non-functional cables to work again or maintain them so they last longer.
One thing I noticed is that over time the center gold connection wire turns black in color, as if it was burnt as the phone was charging.  I tried using an eraser to get the black stuff off to no avail.  I will try a Q-tip with alcohol next.  Wish there was a documented quick fix or maintenance plan for keeping the cables functional.

  • Ipad mini lightning connector- replacement under warranty?

my lightning connector suddenly heated up and later i discover it wasnt charging my ipad mini already.
When i looked on the lightning connector tip, it is slightly bent
COuld i ask for a replacement for this one, my warranty is still valid.

All accessories are covered within the warranty of the device
as long there is not physical damage to the cable itself
Book an Apple Retail Store appointment and they'll be able to exchange the cable for you
    > only if your device is still within its warranty period

  • New iPod Classic with lightning connector in 2013?

So I am slowly stepping my apple products game up.  Now all my stuff has the new lightning connector.  What about my ipod classic?  I use that mofo erryday.  I wanna get rid of it but only if they come out with a new one with the lightning connector.  Apple needs to step they game up.  I for one am a heavy ipod classic user and Apple needs to get off they high horse and make a new one, so i can use the same charger for errythang.  And, I know one of you geniuses that read this post is going to say just buy the adapter.  Ummm NO, i dont want to!
So to the people at Apple, get your shyt together and come out with a new iPod Classic and make that bytch 500 GB.  LOL

Speculating about future Apple products is not one of the topics "encouraged" on Apple's user forum.

  • I want to connect an iPhone 4s to a lightning connector

I have an iPhone 4s and I would like to connect to a docker which has the lightning connector. Does anybody know if there is an adapter that allows to do this?

    Not from Apple
However a company called sandberg has recently released one
SANDBERG 440-45 Adaptor 30 Pin to Lightning Connector
I have one (from Amazon in UK ) and it charges ,syncs and also transmits music successfully from a lightning cable to an iPod Nano 5Gen

  • Lightning connector for audio out

I have a DJ app on my IPAD Air which uses a split cue audio out lead from the headphone jack in order to cue music separately from the main mix. This works fine but I would prefer to use Airplay wireless to the speakers. If I then connect the headphone jack it disables airplay.
My question is, can the Lightning connector be used to transfer audio in which case I can use it for the headphone connection via suitable leads.
I don't mind using an 8 pin to 30 pin adapter if that's the way to go but not all these work for audio.
Any suggestions on lead combinations would be appreciated. Thanks

  • How can I get a CAC card reader to work on a new iPad with a lightning connector?

I need to know if it is possible to use a CAC card reader for military use on a new iPad with a lightning connector. I saw the lightning to USB connector but wasn't sure it the iPad will support it.

  • I have difficulty charging my iphone 5. The nearest service center said that there are missing pins in my lightning connector.

My phone is still under warranty but the service center said that it is voided due to the missing pins inside the lightning connector.  What do i do with this? My phone can charge but you need to press on the cord a little for it to click.  My cord is not the issue because I just bought it and it is brand new.

Well, your service is handled by an Authorized Apple Service Center. If they refuse to handle the claim, that is well within their rights. Apple as well could void a claim under the same circumstances. I'm not saying that you did or did not modify the device, but you could try and talk to a supervisor there and make another request. You can also try and contact Apple by obtaining a number with this support document and describe your problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
